Had the worst swimming experience ever could only use the baby pool they don't open the big pool so my kids couldn't Play or jump in is less then 2 metres deep. The showers had no hot water and we're very dirty and changing rooms were freezing. Will never go back.

Like many other people here, I was landed with a £100 fine despite logging my registration number into one of the reception tablets inside the leisure centre. I know I did because it was my first visit and I arrived early, even asking what I should do. I tried to appeal the fine but it was denied since I couldn't prove it. I called the gym and asked them to check their system, but they told me there was a £20 admin fee, then they would cancel the charge on my behalf. I initially refused, thinking it was a scam, but after the parking fine increased to £170, I agreed to pay the £20. The gym told me to ignore the letters from the Debt Recovery Plus agency as it could take 12 weeks to process the cancellation. That was almost 6 months ago, and now I'm receiving letters every 2 weeks demanding £170 and being threatened with imminent legal action. Every time I call the gym, they tell me there is a back log of 20 weeks and that they did indeed cancel the fine, and to simply not worry about the letters. Calling the Debt Recovery team, they say that the gym has no way of cancelling it on my behalf. I have a paper trail from the gym and have made several calls to both parties, but it is still not sorted. The stress of receiving these letters and being told I'm facing potential court action has taken a toll on my mental wellbeing. This is clearly a huge problem as the gym staff have admitted that other customers are in the same position, and even some of the staff members themselves have received parking fines. I am still in a quandary as I do not want to pay the £170 because I know I entered in my details into the tablet, therefore fulfilling my contractual obligation to park in the carpark for free for the allotted time during my exercise class. TLDR: Fun zumba class but not worth the risk of a £100 fine each visit.

There were sharp kitchen knives left out on the chopping boards in the cafe by the softplay. They were on full display and in an easy to access position where any member of the public could reach over and pick it up. I expressed my concerns to the staff member but nothing was done. She told me they are always put there?! They were still there when we left over a hour later. There were lots of places they could have been stored away safely! This goes against all health and safety procedures, especially when the cafe is situated next to a children’s softplay! This is extremely unsafe and after recent tragic events I’d expect businesses to be more cautious and not leave potentially dangerous weapons on the side in a cafe where ANYBODY can pick them up! What if a child got hold of them? I’ve never seen such dangerous kitchen practice anywhere. I don’t feel safe visiting anymore, I felt unsettled that a business would be so ignorant to a basic health and safety risk.

Absolutely filthy. don't think the swimming pool changing rooms have ever been cleaned. Dirty plasters and blood on the floor, decided to take my so. To soft play after where a staff member decided to mop the floor cafe and soft play floor at prime time for the children to be running around, several children slipped and the chemical smell was awful. Oh and there were quite a few beetles on the floor of soft play. I do believe the center opens at 5.30 so why is the place so filthy.

This swimming pool doesn't cater for teens or big kids, such a shame but this great pool which could be a lot of fun and place to learn to dive etc but all you get other then lane swimming is a baby pool with loads of little kids, taking a 13 and 11 year old boys in there is completely inappropriate. It's been like this gif years and it doesn't matter what time of the week you go

Watch out for unjustified parking fines and not getting any help!!! Got fined for parking here even though everything was done correctly and were within the maximum parking allowed time. The staff at the leisure centre offered to get rid of the parking fine for a price, even though the fine should never have been issued in the first place! After months of stress and bailiff letters, reluctantly paid the fee, only to be told by the leisure centre they could have got rid of it from the beginning for free!??? Despite them being asked about it via phone calls on multiple occasions as there was clearly an issue with the system, just got fobbed off each time. Absolute joke, Be careful and evidence everything!!!

Super busy gym. Usually wasting half of your gym time, waiting in a queue for an equipment. Parking just a disgrace. I was once charged for no reason and appealed but my appeal was rejected by the parking company. Then I appealed the rejection through a third party ombudsman and then my appeal was accepted. It seems they write tickets randomly and the charge is overturned only if you resort to ombudsman. This is disgraceful.

Went to Atlantis Splash with children few times and got disappointed with life guards and staff at the pool side. The reception staff strictly tell to wait 15 minutes before the start time and don’t let you in, therefore this creates long waiting times at the pool side. All 5 times we’ve been there - it was always overbooked and overcrowded which resulted in chaos and long queues to slides. The worst is that all 5 of our sessions started always 4 - 7 minutes late due to them not being on time at the reception and then at the pool side lifeguards are slow with everything even though people were ready to go onto inflatables. Hope management can see this review.

I can’t comment regarding the rest of the centre, but the swimming pool area is in a disgusting state. I last visited around 8 years ago, and boy has it gone downhill since. Sadly I didn’t take photos, but let me paint a picture: in the changing area, the floors are muddy due to people walking in with outdoor shoes, empty Lucozade bottles are strewn about all over, random trash everywhere, and the cherry on the cake, a dirty nappy in the middle of it all! 🤢 Really sad how gross this place has become since opening just over 10 years ago. But, a healthy mix of visitors’ lack of respect and hygiene, and managerial incapability, will certainly do that to a place. I’m glad I wore sliders as I’m certain I would’ve caught some form of foot disease otherwise. Avoid!

The swimming changing area's are dirty and the showers are outdated. Every time I go to use the pool, the big pool is always split into lessons and the public bit is a small area where you can only swim one way and if you want to do your own thing, you have to go to the kids pool and theres always loads of kids going crazy throwing stuff and the life guards barely do anything about it. My younger brother has also told me that when he uses the gym, he also gets bullied by older guys and he got his stuff stolen once. It's a shame as the leisure centre itself is nice and it has so much potential to be better.

Unfortunately the centre offers no dedicated adult only casual swimming time slots. The 20:30 - 21:30 on Mondays/ Thursdays and the 20:00 - 21:00 on Fridays would be perfect for this, as on good days it’s exactly that and becomes one of the best, affordable places in Bristol to swim as an adult. The only option for adult only at the moment is lane swimming but can confirm that instead of using the entire area used for lane swimming they’ll instead cram as many swimmers as they can into each lane so you’re constantly either gaining on someone and/ or have someone right behind you, not at all able to swim at your own pace and set your own goals. My reasoning for these casual time slots to be adult only is because of my terrible experience the other day: I went on Thursday the 18th of July 20:30 - 21:30pm for casual swimming. The pool was filled with kids, about 4 of which were messing around slamming floaties into the water and consistently getting in the way of the 3 adults who were actually trying to have a swim. This doesn’t always happen during this time slot but pretty much means you’ve wasted your money and time when it does. The pool had varying lengths of toilet tissue paper inside of it, floating around which would consistently touch you, and float underwater into your face whilst you attempt to swim. This disrupted other swimmers in the pool as well. On both of these issues the lifeguard on duty sat there absentmindedly, phased out and disinterested, (on the tissue problem he said “no, I don’t know why it’s there”, and gave a glum, vacant look as I pulled parts of it out of the pool and dumped it in front of his chair.) When the much more competent female lifeguard replaced him on the hour she immediately told two kids that they were not allowed to climb each other in the pool, which he had been ignoring prior. I didn’t stick around much longer as patience had gone, as well as I’d reached my limit with the disgusting condition of the pool, finding more and more tissue paper despite trying to remove some of it myself. I told another attendant who was cleaning the changing rooms about the heaps of tissue paper floating in the pool and she said “don't worry, the chlorine will disinfect that.” Finally spoke to the receptionist on the way out who clarified it was not right, agreed it was disgusting and said it would be sorted / removed. Returning the next day for the 20:00 - 21:00 slot, I decided my partner and I would look through the window before paying, The pool was filled to the brim again (despite very few having booked in advance online), which we could see through the glass. We asked if the tissue paper had been removed from the day before and was told “by the time we checked it, we couldn't find any.” My partner concluded that it might have naturally filtered through the system eventually throughout the night, but we weren’t about the spend more money again just incase we had the same experience. There was a tonne of it the day before, so the receptionist’s comment was surprising, I wasn’t the only paid customer dealing with it though so maybe something had happened after I had left the pool. As we left, we could see even more children now splashing and throwing a volleyball across the length of the teaching pool(???) and kids diving repeatedly, which I know for a fact is prohibited in that pool. We felt bad for the one adult lady who was struggling to swim widths as the ball almost hit her in the head and splashed next to her. Couldn’t see which lifeguard was on duty, but presume with the amount of health & safety infractions that it's the same guy who was daydreaming the day before. Apologies for the lengthy complaint. When the pool is clear of children on these time slots it’s absolutely perfect. Please consider adult only times on these late night, final times slots for casual swimming, even if it’s just for the summer holidays whilst the kids are out of school. My partner and I were about to commit to full memberships, now we’re not really sure what to do.

The changing rooms are honestly probably the worst we’ve used. Today I’ve seen used plasters on the floor. I also witnessed a teenager coughing and spitting on the floor (I told him he was disgusting) but that is now just left in the changing room for no doubt another kid to stand on. I have made staff aware. This place is honestly grim which is such a shame because your facilities and activities are amazing. Never in any gym that has happened to me in my whole life. Kicking out someone half a way through workout and dropping heart and and body temperature and ask come back after they are done can lead to severe some kind of injury. I felt very upset. Went downstairs to give my feedback to manger but response was very poor. Also gym floor is not the cleanest as well as female changing room and toilets were very dirty. Sinks in toilets were full with some kind of black dust/hair and water did not go down the sink. My daughter has swim lessons here every week. She is doing great, when she first started two months ago she was frightened of putting her face in the water. She could not swim without an aid. She now swims under the water and can swim without an aid. Her confidence in the water has grown immensely. She wants to keep going with lessons and progress to do synchronised swimming after watching them rehearse whilst waiting for her lesson to start. Watching her swim and the pure joy it brings her is the highlight of my week.

Had a three day trial. Gym and pool are both large, but that's where the positives end. Changing rooms and showers are filthy. Toilet paper was on the floor for three consecutive days when I went. Toothpaste and what appeared to be mud had been sprayed up the shower cubicle wall. Jacuzzi hot tub is cold, not heated at all. I sent an email asking how often the changing rooms and showers were cleaned, and what the temperature of the hot tub is set at, but I never received a response. A couple days after my trial finished. I received a marketing calls from the leisure centre asking if I’d like to sign up with them. I explained that I had emailed but received no response and I asked them on the phone how often the showers were cleaned and what are the temperature of the hot tub was. They told me that they didn’t know how often the showers were cleaned and that it’s supposed to be done by the lifeguards..they told me that they didn’t know how often the showers were cleaned and that it’s supposed to be done by the lifeguards. they also told me they don’t know what the temperature of the hot tub is set at and that they would speak to their managers, who would then gets back to me. I wasn’t surprised when I receive no response from management after waiting two weeks for one. Conclusion: For more than £40 a month, I would expect the changing rooms and showers to be cleaned at least daily and I would expect professionalism from the staff. Unfortunately both of these things are not apparent and I would warn anybody before taking out a monthly or yearly contract with the leisure centre that you check these conditions for yourself. If I had actually received a phone call back from the managers I might well have ended up signing up to the leisure centre because it’s closer to me than other gyms. However, I have now signed up to another gym which happens to be a lot cheaper and the quality is much higher.

I’ve given up with Hengrove leisure centre for virtual spin classes. The last 4 times I’ve been there the virtual class isn’t set up. Sometimes I can find the staff and they try and set it up, but sometimes they’re not around. It should be standard practice that before a virtual class, someone on shift checks it’s on. I’ve even tried the first class of the day at 6.30am and it hasn’t been turned on, which mean management either aren’t showing their staff how to set it up, or management don’t ask their staff to check the set up at the start of the day. Wastes my time and ruins my training. I’ve given up.

When we walked into changing room, it was so cold!! And we used children pool it was tpo deep.and too cold for my toddler who was shivering whole time as her lips wete turning blue so we took her out and had warm shower but shivering again in changing room. Felt it not suitable for toddlers or babies. We couldn't find family changing room so apparently they doesn't have any.

Another venue being destroyed by its car park managed by a scam third party. You will be told you're entitled to free parking if you enter your number plate into a small computer near reception. Enter it all you want, you will still get a £100 fine a month later from Smart Parking. Leisure centre not interested and Scam parking certainly aren't. It's pay the fine or we send bailiffs to collect it. All this because I took 5 year old for a swimming lesson.

£170 fine threatened for parking there despite paying to use the facilities. The registration machine was in the entrance lobby the first time I went. The next time they weren't there but tucked behind adverts past the turnstiles which i didn't see until after the swim. I'm not going again, it's so punitive, I'll go to any other pool that actually wants you there

Have been with this centre for a couple of months now, and I am starting to see the frustrations with the lane swimming. We always book a slot but when we arrive the lanes are so full and it makes the swim really unenjoyable. Firstly, the adult lane swimming is usually squashed into a tiny section of the pool, while the rest of it is either empty or being used for other activities. People swim right up behind you for no reason, which as a female, I find this really uncomfortable. if you are going to swim that fast, go in the fast lane surely? Despite the "booking system", there is no one checking and the last two times I have been I have left the swim early feeling really annoyed and like I am wasting my money. Also, the whole place needs a really good clean.

Stunning facilities, two pools. Shame the kids lessons are run without parents being able to enter the pool with their kids and the instructors lack any warmth or kindness towards helping less confident children enter the water. Felt like a burden. Wouldn’t recommend.

They use Smart Parking for their car park who are notorious for unscrupulous tactics and for never dropping a fine regardless of the merit of the appeal. I received a parking fine because I didn't understand how their parking system worked. I asked Hengrove Leisure Centre for help with this by email. They did not respond. However, today I went in and asked reception. The lady there was much more helpful and suggested I bring the fine letter in, and they will ask the manager to pursue getting the fine dropped. Hoping this works and I can start using Hengrove Leisure Centre once again. If the fine is not dropped, then I will revise my review

Don't risk the parking £170 fine after using the machine as indicated. Terrible treatment of legit customers, being threatened hounded and chased, the leisure center does't care say they have sorted but people are being completely screwed because of their own machines, can't call them they don't answer, 15 times yesterday no one answered, can never face parking there again, its all utterly terrifying do you pay something not true- £170!!!!! or live in this terror people are going to come to your house and take your stuff.

Being threatened and taken to court over the parking registration machine not working, they have promised people these are being sorted but we all only got 21 days (about 2 after the letter was actually recieved) to appeal so lost the right to appeal straight away, literallymparked legally but KNOWONE CARES, now being HOUNDED by debt recovery people. That's 170 quid no one has right now, so many people are in this absolutly terrifying situation hengrove couldn't give less of a dam. Tried calling the center again yesterday, called 15 times FIFTEEN TIMES no one answered. Not sure who's worse the leisure center or the debt recovery people

I was happy, until I realised despite paying £41 a month there is hardly no swimming sessions for adult swimmers who aren’t confident in lane swimming. This means your throwing money away. I’ve got my local MP involved as this is connected to Bristol City Council

We regularly visit the “Wessex Flyer” in Hengrove. Faye (the duty manager) and her team are all working together to make our experience very enjoyable. The food is excellent, and the drinks. A special shout-out to Casey, who served us today, a lovely young lady as are all the staff. Faye goes that extra mile to check with all the customers that everything is OK. Highly recommend.

‘We are open. a car drove into our window. please keep buying from us so we can get a new window’. I would have loved to. I tried to buy a coffee at about 14.20. No can do. ‘We aren’t serving.’ ‘I only want coffee not food.’ ‘No I’m washing the floor’ ‘Oh I’m sorry I didn’t know you were closed as the door was open’ ‘We aren’t closed.’ ‘Just not selling anything then? Good luck getting the money for the window’
