Came here for the Sunday carvery. And what happened shocked us…my wife and I is hearing impaired and Andy at the host greeted us with a smile and showed us to our table. After around 10 mins we went to the till where they understood our situation and helped us order our carvery’s. Now this is what shocked us.. the young man with glasses was very patient with us. He pointed out the 3 meats and insured we had a great experience. Once we got our meals. He was very glad and use BSL (British sign language) to say goodbye and thank you. Not many people have the patience and politeness as they do at the Wessex flyer.

This spot is perfect for bargain breakfast. The food is always spot on, kids eat free and it’s buffet?! What more can you ask for! Faye is absolutely brilliant and if she isn’t already, she deserves to run the place! She is definitely the most friendly, bubbly and helpful!! We are regulars now as we love it here so much, won’t go anywhere else for breakfast!

This a great place to eat. The food was really nice and good selection. The staff were amazing and it’s reasonably price.

We had a table for 6 for Sunday lunch. We had 5 having carvery and a mixed grill and all were great meals, the staff were all lovely and we had really good service! Would highly recommend 👌

Booked here as we stayed in the Premier inn next door, food was ok but the place is completely understaffed and needs to get more workers in. Took a hour or maybe just over for the food to come, if we didn't pay in advance we would have gone to KFC, I wasn't happy I have to say.

The Wessex Flyer in Bristol—a pub that makes one ponder the deeper meaning of existence. Or, more accurately, the absence of it. This is a tough one to review, not because it’s a complex enigma wrapped in a pub-shaped riddle, but because it’s so depressingly average that it makes me question why I ever started going to pubs in the first place. But let’s give credit where credit’s due. The staff were nice enough, doing their best in a place that seems hell-bent on draining the joy from every pint and every plate.. In short, The Wessex Flyer is a pub that you’ll want to avoid. Avoid it, unless you’re into that sort of thing.

A nice place to visit and dine in every day, the food is always cooked the way you like it and nice cold/ hot drinks.

Food was terrible ! Took close to half an hour to come and the club sandwich was stone cold. My wife ordered fish but was then told there were out of fish. She chose a jacket potato and chilli but the potato was hard. Then the two people sat behind us ordered fish and actually got it !

Had a wonderful breakfast this morning! Was perfect from start to finish. Went in alone with my daughter without booking and was welcomed in by Isaac who was lovely, funny and helpful. Then was served by Rihanna who fussed over my 2 year old and made her so happy! Breakfast was beautiful and fresh! Can’t wait to come back!

The absolute worst restaurant/pub l have ever been , rude staff who , just slam drinks down and walk off , filthy tables , rubbish in the beer garden ,totally unacceptable.

My Steak shuld of been Med rare was Med 2 well done, cocktail was stirred not shaken no coffee machine was turned off @ 8-15

To packed long queue at the buffett, long weight for empty items to be refilled, no cups coffee machine no hot water do cold coffee all in all not a pleasant experience

Popped in for breakfast was greeted by a lovely lady called Faye, excellent service for all the team, breakfast was fantastic, buffet was replenished very quickly, and it was very busy and team were great throughout, highly recommend

Received great service but like with all places by Whitbread, the free WiFi is appalling and its only deliberately slow to be greedy and encourage you to upgrade.

There are nice young people working. But i so get upset pay for a burger 14 pound and get little one like joke. Really small! Fries large but not proper cook. Toilet in bad condition.

The manager must be commended, always busy, always on the ball, the food is plentiful and great value and the stock at the bar is very good. Great.

Had Sunday Roast here. It was ok but the veg, apart from the cauli flower cheese and carrots, was a tad bland. The beef was excellent as was the yorkie { as the chef called it (lol) } and horseradish sauce. Unfortunately they had ran out of gammon so I can't comment on it. As I said overall it was ok.

Gave 5 stars purely for the staff and the efforts they go to, to make breakfast a nice experience. They are so cheerful and kind. The buffet breakfast food is good, (£10,99 per person)and lots of healthy options too, although I love a pan au chocolate after 🫶

Food today was disgusting and the customer service skills of some of the staff are even more disgusting and the short manager working there has no customer service skills what's so ever I do not no how he got a role of a manager. But then again the place is run into the ground and runs nothing like the one in bristol city centre so I'm not surprised they just employ anyone there. Will definitely not be eating at the hengrove location again

When it comes to eating out, the quality of food is always a top priority. Recently, I tried the sirloin steak, and I was impressed by the quality, especially when considering the price. Even though I am quite choosy about my steak, this one met my expectations. The waiting staff were very polite and attentive, and the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. We stayed until closing time, and they were very accommodating, even as they prepared for breakfast. Overall, it was a great experience, and the prices were quite reasonable.

Always good for an impromptu all-you-can-eat full English with the family, not always necessary to book in advance, but does get busy, so always good idea, so you aren't disappointed. Staff are always friendly, food is always great, always leave full! Great value for money !

Chips were skin-on and perfectly cooked. We'll stocked gin bar. Very friendly service. More than I would expect from a pub chain. Would reccomend.

RUDE RUDE RUDE MANAGER!!!!! Just been spoken to like absolute rubbish on his shoe, because I had been standing for 10 minutes with my disabled son who needed to sit down. Was aggressively spoken to. Will be speaking with head office as I’m appalled. No point telling people to wait to be seated if they won’t seat you, they just stare in your direction. Never met such an aggressive man. Embarrassed me infront of the whole pub.

Family Xmas meal for 20 people. No pre orders or deposits taken so was a little worried. No need brilliant service and food. Manager was very helpful nothing was to much trouble. Very impressed and food amazing. Well done. The best hassle free Xmas meal we have done.

Arrived 12pm got drinks and a table, viewed menu then ordered at bar. My friend had lasagne came out in oval dish boiling hot and staff warned hot, along with small salad and 2 slices garlic bread, she ordered side of fries. I ordered veggie lasagne same salad and garlic bread as came with meat version. Rather than go up again as can be a wait I ordered our dessert all in one order banoffe cheese cake with blob of ice cold ice-cream. Unfortunately had to ask 2 different members of staff for our desserts as 25mins after mains still not brought out! We expected to be about an hour all in, but because of delay we're 2hrs which is why only 3stars, it's not like they were busy, 2 staff chatting behind bar, 2 servers between serving deck and bar, yet I think she was a manager who brought out our meal and dessert. Cost just under £40 for 2 of us with a drink each. Felt it was rather overpriced and very limited vegetarian options, nothing on the deal 2 meals for £11.50 now because swapped cheese to violife and everything labelled vegan. Vegetarians and Vegan are vastly different with what can eat! Also on photos on website shows egg and chips, also on drop down list here for review selection, whilst I'm writing no cauliflower cheese either as shows on drop down options on review, yet was not on the menu in the pub!!!

Tastes great. Green bean sauce. Tartar sauce is great.

Visit the Wessex Flyer regularly, have always had great food and excellent service, Kelly and Issac are very friendly and welcoming, the rest of the team are just as great. I will continue to be a frequent visitor.

We are regulars on a Saturday, we have always had great food and the staff are excellent. We look forward to this as our weekly treat and break from the norm. Would definitely recommend for good food and a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

Stay in a lot of Premier Inn Hotels with work, usually eat in the restaurants attached to the hotel. The Wessex Flyer, is dirty, run down restaurant with terrible food, there was 5 of us eating, two of the meals were inedible the others were mediocre, we did tell the waiting staff, who showed no interest. Better eating at McDonalds or Pizza Hut across the road.

We come regularly but had a little break recently came back for breakfast and as always food was delicious and the staff were welcoming , helpful and friendly especially Faye great team great place for breakfast (and lunch/ tea)

Booked a table for a time when I would like to eat. When ordering..at the bar, no table service, I was told there was a 35-40 minute wait. Food arrived after 30 minutes, cold and with ingredients missing.

I was down in Bristol from Essex visiting the family this weekend and we all went for breakfast which was fantastic...we'd booked a table for the 9 adults and the 4 kids....it was busy there but the food dishes got refreshed really quickly and we all got what we wanted which was all yummy...the staff including Faye, Ellie and Rihanna were all soo helpful, friendly and managing everything so well. I'll definitely be going there again next time I'm down 🥰 .... and I thought the price and everything was great...thank you for adding to my lovely weekend away xx

Fantastic outing for my mother's 51st birthday, Staff were professional and friendly. Food was exceptional and waiter was happy to help once we were enjoying our meal.

Simply good food at a great price. People are helpful and the service is good. The only thing I would say is the building is looking a bit tired now.

Came in on Saturday 17th feb with a big table and what can I say about the place, smooth, Ellie was working got told there was an hour wait on food because there was only 2 chefs working got told it was jay and Louis and what can I say we waiting for around 45 mins and all the food was hot and fresh, we was so grateful we wasn’t waiting for long, we had a couple round of drinks in time for our food so even more perfect

Worst I've seen this, food is nice, if you get food that is. as we was waiting for plates or the food to be placed out, and also even the juice, asked kindly to a young lady to refill juice please and was told angrily that it will be filled up when they can, the people that was waiting to come in just let them in sat them down and not tell them they may have to wait

We have just walked out after waiting 15 mins, big queue waiting to get seated and pay and being totally ignored. When we saw people waiting for the food to come as well, self service we decided we were not waiting any longer. Really poor organisation and management, get it sorted. Pay for the staff if you want people to come.

I had a lovely big stack burger with chips and a side of onion rings, it was very nice. I was looked after by a blonde waitress called lily she was very helpful and welcoming. I definitely recommend this place if your looking for a meet up with friends or family. I will be visiting again.

Was hoping for a lovely meal with my partner for valentines day got to the pub to be told a 2 hour wait even though we booked 2 bar staff behind the bar really busy so disappointed won't be going again on what should have been a lovely valentines night they needed more staff very poor management the booking was under the name of Peter thonas

I was in the restaurant on 14th February 2024 and it was very busy. The staff and food were amazing Isaac, Izzy, Chris, Casey and Ellie were unfortunately advising customers of a long wait due to the number of people in the restaurant but people were still complaining. I stay at the hotel next door a lot and have not encountered any staff of hotel or the restaurant that are not helpful or pleasant on any visit. I just wanted to say the staff do a FANTASTIC job and always accommodating and friendly. There were customers that were complaining even after being advised of a long wait. The staff could not have done anything better, a great team of people and looking forward to my next stay. PLEASE PLEASE give the team a huge pat on the back. Anyone wanting to visit I would highly recommend.

It was very quiet when we visited, although by necessity it was early lunchtime. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was fine although the steak I had was not as rare as I prefer but as we weren't asked if the food was ok until we'd almost finished, I made no comment. Still enjoyed it though. The prices were very reasonable especially as we took advantage of a 33% off voucher.

Wow our experience was awful the food arrived cold after waiting a long time for it. Staff were rude and to busy on there phones and gossiping. Awful experience will not ever come back here.

A tired pub with a lack of staff. My meal was grim. The menu was very limited, but I thought I’d be safe with fish and chips. What I got was cold hard peas, dry fish fried in old oil and a few cold, hard chips. A very dispiriting experience.

Excellent breakfast with a good selection of hot and cold items, both Christpher and Rihanna were brilliant welcoming, efficient, polite and happy.

Best breakfast I have had at premier inn/ brewers fayre. Hot very tasty and highly recommend. The waitress was also excellent

Pleasantly surpised, given some of the reviews and the fact that most eateries associated with Premier Inns/other airport hotels I have been to are not where you necessarily expect the greatest grub. Brewers Fayre is a standard menu but it was well executed here.. my husband's mixed grill was good (steak done as he asked, chicken not dry, decent quality sausages, fried eggs perfect) and my gluten-free chicken fajita burger also good - generous portion of ripe avocado in the burger bun, chicken decent char but not dry, good flavour pot of chilli to go with nachos. Staff friendly, efficient, mains within 20 minutes of order, reasonable gluten free choice for me. Lost a star for badly stained chair (no penalty for the screaming out of control children as that's not the restaurant's fault, if you prefer a quieter meal you might want to book for a bit later than 7pm on a Sunday.. quieter by the time we left at 8pm).
