The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Visited here as was visiting family near by, faye on reception was very helpfull very cheerful and nothing was to much problem for her, nice fresh food and gteat on the price :) great service will defo be back

Very helpful staff, go the extra mile.. my scrambled egg, avocado and salmon was lovely..

Excellent steak on special board cooked as requested. Scallops were great too. Very tasty meal after a day walking the coastal path.

Went here as a family, luckily we had no young children because where the snooker table is, there was a large group of drinkers some of whom were very loud and constantly using foul language. I’m not a kill joy but do feel that the snooker table is in completely the wrong place and spoils the nice relaxed atmosphere for a nice evening meal. I think the staff should have stepped in to stop the language. Would not make me want to return.

Old pub used to go to in 80's when a kid. Don't think it's really changed that much. Fine for meeting up with old friends, wouldn't class as high end though.

I traveled to the Cedars Inn with a friend in order to walk some of the South West Coast Path. We booked the room a while ago but we weren't sure what time we would arrive, so only booked a table to eat very last minute from the car. We checked in to a lovely room and headed to the restaurant where we were seated immediately, despite a large function in another room, a big party all dining for a celebration and also the fact that the kitchen was close to closing. Our waiter, T, couldn't have been more helpful or cheerful despite us arriving right near the end of the shift. The food was tasty and the main courses were the right size to leave room for pudding! Thanks for the great service.

Absolutely back to its former glory! Had wonderful food here today the atmosphere is fantastic staff wonderful and the landlady Bridget is an absolute treasure!

Very dissatisfied, ordered 3 meals, waited 25mins for what was essentially just a burger as the rest was readily available. No apologies offered rven though it seemed the staff were aware. Finally sit to eat, and what a disappointment. Thin fish that was greasy and smelt like beef dripping.. how?! The chips were very dry and not enjoyable. The burger that was waited on was also dry. Considering the price that is charged is above the average you would expect something good but that's not the case. This was in the evening as well and not as busy as I have seen it, so pretty sure that's not the cause.

Vinimos a desayunar con amigos, nos dieron su gran desayuno y todos estábamos esperando media hora en la comida. Una vez que la comida llegó toda nuestra comida estaba fría o tibia. Mi desayuno tenía tocino poco cocinado que estaba helado, los huevos fritos eran como goma y parecía como si hubieran estado sentados allí durante horas. No buen servicio fue decepcionado.

Excellent food- this time the sunday roast, This was the best roast dinner iv ever had. Nicest roast potatoes, plentiful. lots of meat, calved from a joint, Turkey beef and pork. big yorkshire pudding. Roast carrot and parsnips. a dish of vegetables each- broccoli cabbage and carrots. Homemade cauliflower cheese. ( paid extra for this- so worth it) Homemade gravy- plenty of it. £15/£16 , Smashing polite young ladies serving and proprietor was so polite and good at his job.

I was very pleasantly surprised by my recent visit. A few months ago I found the establishment lacking. Today total transformation!!! Good 200%better,service 300% better. Staff so obliging,happy to help. Especially Chrissie ! Wow what a difference new owners have made. Food level of quality, quantity,and freshness 100%. I took my mum (91 y,) she really. Enjoyed ham. Eggs and chips !!! I had gammon etc Well presented and hot!!! As was the tea a first anywhere recently. Thanks to all staff and to Chrissie for explaining a lot of alternatives to menu and seating available Defo return thks guys

The service was lovely thea was on her own. Made conversation made sure we was happy. Food was awesome. Came to black horse lunch time with hubby. Met landlady very happy cheerful person

Sunday roast was one of the best we have ever had. Have been back twice, and will be booking again. Everything that was served on our table was delicious.

Sunday morning visits along with gallery exhibition trips. Comfortable, good service and food, relaxed student atmosphere. Great for a coffee, toastie and chat or people watching.
