This is a popular pub. The staff are really friendly and it’s got a good atmosphere. The food is nice, home-cooked grub! We share some Mac N Cheese bites to start with, followed by the Fish & Chips and Fishcakes. Delicious! Good sized portions and very tasty. We’d recommend The Ship Inn!

Dark and unwelcoming feel, tables were very sticky with old drinks. No attempt was made to clean them and the manager (very small blonde lady) had a terrible attitude. She was very abrupt when taking the orders and when there was an issue with the food, she was very rude, unhelpful and very confrontational. She obviously doesn’t want or possibly expects customers to return. food was basic and will not be eating there again.

We`ve visited Mevagissey many on day trips over the years, but never stayed over. So this time we thought we`d incorporate an overnight stay into our holiday in Cornwall. The Ship is a lovely old pub, full of character and everything a pub should be, packed full of tourists and locals alike. It`s`s wonderful to see that it hasn`t been ripped out and " gentrified " like a lot of pubs in seaside areas in Cornwall. We stayed in one of the family rooms, right at the top of the pub, so there was zero noise from the pub downstairs ( even though it was heaving the night we stayed ) I`d describe the room as being " no frills", which was fine, as we were only there for the night. The beds were comfy and spotless, with good quality bedding and the bathroom looked pretty much brand new, as did the large shower. We didn`t eat in the Ship, but had a couple of drinks and like I`ve mentioned earlier, the place was bouncing, full of locals and tourists, which made for a really great atmosphere. The ladies behind the bar know their beer too, as there was a really big choice of local real ales and they guided me to a couple of crackers from the St Austell Brewery. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and plenty of it, all served by a truly lovely lady, who was so friendly and nice. You couldn`t really ask for a better location to stay in Mevagissey, as the ship is virtually on the harbour. Theres` no parking, but the lads in the big main car park on the edge of the village, kindly charged us £6 for an overnight stay - 5 mins easy walk to the pub. The rooms in the Ship are priced according to the area, so they may be a little bit on the high side for what you get, but Mevagissey isn`t a cheap place to stay in.

We stayed 2nights over Easter 2024. Accommodation was warm and quirky as you’d expect from such an historic building. The pub is a traditional Cornish fishing village type , with an extensive varied menu and local ales available. There are a few other local pubs that help add to the overall ambiance of the village. Loads of local shops and a nice walk out on the harbour wall. Finally the staff and management are welcoming friendly and helpful. Great place to stay and very dog friendly, just try not to step on their tails 😂😂

Well, where to start. We ordered food one early evening, fish & chips and mussels. I was hoping to get fresh battered fish but instead, got what could only have been frozen battered fish. The type you get in any supermarkets frozen food section. The chips also looked as though they had come from the freezer. So not the fresh, home cooked food that was advertised. The mussels were ok but contained some unopened ones.

A good choice of drinks and foods. A typical local pub . Friendly locals to contribute to a good night.

Went here for tea and to watch football. I’m not over mean on pubs in general but this place was great, felt really welcomed and relaxed. Good food well priced, dog friendly.

Leuke zaak, kaart met voldoende variatie, prettige bediening, ook goede plek om de avond met een drankje af te sluiten.

We were staying just opposite for a week so spent a few evenings in the Ship. Warm friendly -lots of dogs (they even have their own sofa). Food was good pub food.

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.

Dropped in last night to be greeted by a super friendly bar man. The pizza’s are incredible and their delicious Sunday roasts are now back in the menu. With an unbeatable location and stellar service it’s our favourite spot.....

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.

For a spot of lunch, my wife and two children decided to eat here. Never again. We settled on the beef style kebabs (on a skewer). With rice. The beef was tough, tastless, rough and badly cooked. I was a butcher, I should know! Rice was microwaved but still undercooked! The salad that came with it was soggy, rotten and floppy. The best part of the meal was the kids fish goujons. We spent 70 quid (including drinks) on some of the worst food I've eaten.
