The best restaurants serving British food in Okehampton West West Devon South West

Fui detenido y literalmente en viviendo el momento para un bocado ligero y nos encontramos con una cordial bienvenida. El lugar estaba a tope y después pedir del menú (creo casero comida de la cafetería) que comimos y disfrutamos y, a los parroquianos y nattering averiguar lo que estaba ocurriendo localmente. Gran loos también! Todo muy limpio y ordenado.

Enjoyed a delicious roast beef and roast pork for my husband today for Sunday lunch. Generous portions and lots of varied veg all well cooked. Apple crumble for dessert with clotted cream which was also excellent. Staff friendly and efficient. Great atmosphere, busy and buzzing! The pub operates two sittings 12-2.15pm then 2.30-5pm which was ample time. Perfect place to eat after a good walk on the moors.

Lovely welcome, gorgeous cream tea with lively warm scones. Dogs welcome, and a nice cuppa as well

Lovely place with great atmosphere and smiling and friendly staff. Wonderful coffee too.

Friendly service but the food itself wasn't the best. Stringy undercooked bacon, four tiny overcooked fried potatoes, far too many cheap beans,. The egg was nice and the sausage was ok. Expensive for what it was though and the noise of the fridge was so loud, maybe give the grid on the fan a clean as it was covered in fluff and dust.

For a take away, it’s brilliant. The staff are super helpful and polite. The food is really great. Superb fish & chips

A quick stop on route to Cornwall to purely use the toilets which is a bit cheeky but I asked if I could & the staff happily directed me to the washroom. They were spotlessly clean with warm water at the sinks & working dryers. Upon leaving, I complimented the staff on the cleanliness of the facilities, they welcomed the compliment & we chatted a little more whilst I bought a piece of tiffin so as to support the business. It was delicious. Will remember to stop here again.

Excellent stay in a lovely room. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was amazing. Friendly atmosphere in the bar. Will definitely return.

First time visiting this restaurant after reading the lovely reviews. Expecting to have a lovely cooked breakfast in the restaurant to start our day only to be told restaurant not open due to no staff. Take away only Had 2 baps and 2 coffees £18 very disappointed the baps were small brioche buns. Won’t be returning..

Nice place. Food could be better

We stayed in the cottage suite which was exceptionally clean and tidy and beautifully presented. The host is friendly and helpful. Me and my wife will be returning.

Came for lunch with the dog after recommendation of nearby vet. Welcomed. Allowed to sit wherever we chose. Menu immediately available and specials updated. Quaint area at the far end with a few books on shelves and some white fairy lights strung about the ceiling. We were at the other end. Almost all customers pensioner couples and a two eccentrics sat as singles. We both went for specials. I had the odd sounding soup - cauliflower, brocoli, Stilton and Yarg, followed by my first ever circular veg lasagne and my partner the puff pastry topped chicken and leak pie. All these dishes were (and we were warned) much, much too hot - but we waited and although the lasagne had little texture all three items were tasty. With a pot of tea each the lunch came to approx £34 which was about right. I’m not sure we would have taken the place as being arty (maybe they have evening events?). The high level vent in the lavatory was blocked by dust and fluff; and the varnished surface of our, and the other tables we could see had a crinkled and rough surfaces, giving the impression that they were wet and or sticky which they actually weren’t. Don’t like even low level gripes but surely this business could spend a short time vacuuming those vent, sanding and putting a fresh coat on the table tops and most importantly showing the kitchen how to send out food and edible temperatures. The two servers who dealt with us were very friendly, informative and helpful. This place is nothing special but we had a good lunch and I dare say we could not have had a better one in any other Okehampton cafe.
