Cracking pub. Good selection of drinks at a reasonable price. Food very tasty and presented to a high standard and they always have specials available. Staff very welcoming and always go the extra mile. Special thanks to Ash, Lucy and Jimmy who made the visit so pleasant.

Stayed 2 nights in January 2024. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Had supper in the pub on the first night which was ok, although the beer (Landlord) wasn’t well kept. First disappointment was no breakfast on offer, but I was told there was a cafe down the road. True, but as I was wandering around Okehampton at 8am, I found the cafe didn’t open until 10am, so I returned to my room and just had coffee. Second disappointment was that my room wasn’t made up or replenished for my second night, so I didn’t even have any milk for my coffee the next morning! Also, a bin in the bathroom would be a very useful addition.

The wife and I attended the Fountain inn in Okehampton on Sunday 28th January we were served by Lucy it was quite busy and she seemed under pressure but coped. We had roast beef which was beautifully cooked and piping hot. The Yorkshire puddings were amazing we will be back don’t change a thing.

Amazing place! We stayed the night and had food and drinks and I couldn’t recommend enough. Food was beautiful, service was out of this world. Never been made to feel so welcome! The rooms were beautiful, nice and clean. The cleanest place we’ve ever stayed. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Came to this place with my family for a roast on Sunday and what can I say this place stunning, the staff were very friendly and nothing seemed like too much hassle. I really enjoyed my food as did my family and it was reasonably priced at £13. Very filling and a good choice deserts for afters which I really enjoyed. Took the children in the garden and a lovely pond with some stunning fish.

Highly recommend the fountain. Staff are lovely and polite . Food is very high standard and can’t fault the meals. Great music on Saturdays . Would highly recommend the fountain.

Rip off. What a shame- beautiful old building which is wasted on the people who currently run it. It was like Fawlty Towers there yesterday with problem after problem from mix ups with the prices that were advertised, to mix ups with the order, to cold food which had to be reheated. My partner had a Caesar Salad which tasted nice, he said, but was not a big portion and was twenty quid. I had a beef Sunday Roast which was completely without flavour. Would have given this zero stars but had to give it one so I could put this review on. Extremely bad experience- won't be returning.

I am actually fuming with this pub! I have never written a trip advisor in my life but I am absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated! I am no angel and I will not be portray myself to be. But I was removed from the premises by ashleigh hambelton after I had explained a situation I'd had in a previous pub a few months ago, took it out of context and proceeded to say loudly that I offer sexual services for a bottle of wine and accused me of saying the word "cock" when actually I had said "clock" You can tell people he works with are scared of him as not one person stood up for me! Possibly in fear of also being removed or losing their job! I believe now they will reply to this portraying me to have been in the wrong and that's fine but actually I needed to have my say as the owner wouldn't even face me to hear my side of the story but just walked away when I asked him to speak to me! If you don't have customer service skills you shouldn't be in a customer facing job.

Been here for lunch and enjoyed it, this time was the first time here for an evening meal. It is fabulous. gorgeous food, very friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere. Hunters chicken is to die for, my friends burger was huge and he loved it. And the white chocolate mud pie is fantastic. Will be back soon.

Friendly service, excellent food. We went for Christmas dinner after booking a break nearby for the Christmas holidays. After a very stressful year it was the perfect choice. Food was great and the service impeccable. Felt like being at home even though we were a couple of hundred miles away! Would highly recommend.

Not happy at all! Me and my partner booked 2 nights at the Fountain Inn. We went for food the first night at the fountain Inn, we were served by Ben who was so polite and lovely. 10/10 food aswell! Room 4 on the other hand wasn’t so pleasant. The shower door is broken, toilet when flushed makes a massive noise and no heating in the room either (no so fussed about the heating though), slight cracking on the walls in the bathroom and loads of dust on the top of the shower head which I was very disturbed by. Overall it wasn’t a bad stay, we just wouldn’t go back in room 4. So we wanted to swap rooms and stay for another 3 nights, so I went down to reception and asked the lady if this was possible as me and my partner had seen room 6 was available online for the next week. Unfortunately the lady with brown hair rudely said that the room smelt of cannabis, which me and my partner have never smoked cannabis in our lives!!! I felt so embarrassed, all there customers sitting down drinking at the time looked over and she had made me look like a right fool! False accusations of your customers buying at the place you work is highly out of order and I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone! Like I said though food is lovely and good for the price. Unfortunately we will never be staying here again!

Family of 14 including 2 children Absolutely superb Sunday carvery plenty of choice of meat and veg all cooked perfectly, the meat was so tender. Staff were attentive and friendly, delicious desserts. Definitely recommend.

What a fantastic place, hidden gem. We popped in, a bit late, as we couldn't get any good anywhere else with a dog in tow. They had just stopped serving but the chef cooked for us regardless and the food was fantastic. All the staff cheery, happy and fun to talk with, and service was fantastic. Highly recommend a visit.

We were recommended this pub by a local shop owner. We sat outside which was great given the September heatwave! We were offered the main menu but we only wanted a light lunch. The waiter talked to the chef and we were offered a lighter menu and had a fantastic jacket potato filled with delicious prawns. Highly recommend this friendly and adaptable pub.

Nice pub, nothing wrong with the service but the food was disappointing, my chicken burger was very salty, my partners moussaka was baked snd stuck to the dish, very small portion for £16.

Myself and my partner stayed here with our 9 month old Labrador, Doug. We used it as a one night stop off on our way to Newquay, but I wish we’d have stayed longer than one night! Super dog friendly and welcoming hotel & bar. Ash was amazing and super helpful which made our stay even more lovely. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and breakfast was spot on. Lovely pub, genuinely friendly staff, good parking etc - but unbelievably slow service. Went there by chance with my partner and daughter on a Bank Holiday Monday, the restaurant appeared to be about half full - but it took a full hour from sitting down to getting our food. It was all just families and small groups in there, no reason for it that I could see. Shame because it was a nice place, but I wish I'd kept driving Wouldn't go back, certainly not for food anyway

Took over an hour to get our food from ordering. When it arrived it was poor quality, the chicken was tough and over cooked. The seafood had no sauce to dip the over fried prawns and squid. The belly pork was not crispy it had just been heated up. All the dishes had no garnish and overall it looked like a very inexperienced cook had made our meal. Maybe they where just short of staff. But this evening was not worth the money. Very disappointing.

Went here for my husbands birthday, such a warm welcome from the lovely barman..the food was amazing, best tzatziki and moussaka I’ve had outside of Greece! Will most definitely be returning again soon.

Great venue with easy access and parking, very dog friendly with great places to sit and eat outside and be undercover if needed. Staff are all great and made us all feel very welcome, our visit happened during a menu change so could only have the roast that day - it was satisfactory but the option of a full menu being available would have been more preferable. However if in the area and looking for a place to have and few drinks and a meal you would not be disappointed with this venue.

We stayed a night in June in the hotel and had an exceptional experience. The owners were on holiday and Ash checked us in and checked everything was OK. It is a very popular pub and restaurant with outdoor seating areas and a choice of areas inside. Our room was on the top floor and was very clean and comfortable with a modern en suite. A bit small but perfectly adequate. The breakfast was amazing, the best full English I can remember! It is an outstanding pub, restaurant and hotel but its the staff that give it the edge. They were all friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Walked past this place a few times and it always looked very inviting, today we were looking for somewhere for lunch so we thought we’d give it a try. Weren’t disappointed. Clean and well presented inside whilst maintaining its old pub charm. Young man on duty at the bar was friendly. I had the Stilton ploughman’s, my husband had the crab ploughman’s. Both were really delicious, fresh and mine came with a generous slab of cheese. Will definitely come back, hopefully for a full evening meal one day soon.

New management seem to have nailed it!Wife and I went in for a lunchtime pint and bite to eat. Lovely menu and value priced. I had sausage and mash, my wife had Italian meatballs and spaghetti. We also had a pint of thatchers and premium tanquery and tonic. Total bill was £20.The food came out after a reasonable wait which means it was freshly made and was hot and very tasty, quality was excellent and the amount was more than enough.It was a vast improvement on the last time we went. Clean, great gin bar and lovely atmosphere.It’s a great find, we will be back here again, highly recommended and with most mains priced at the £6-£9 mark then great value!

Where do you start?We were given absolutely no instruction how to check in so we were sat about in Okehampton till late at night, and only managed to get in a room when one of the other guests informed us of the security code and pointed out a free room with a key in the door, so we crashed there.We were then woken by the fire alarm at 3am, there was no role call and fire exit doors were locked, we waited for the fire service to arrive as they were called due to the contact number for the staff member which was left in the room was incorrect.It was a shambles from start to finish and we will definitely not be staying there again, even though it's the most convenient place for us to stay when we visit Okehampton!!

Booked in for one night has a stay over on way to Cornwall never again told the day before breakfast wasn’t available tried to book a different place all full up so had to accept room only it did state on booking free breakfast but they stated we only booked a room no breakfast asked for a reduced price has it was £76.50p a room .When we arrived the room’s wasn’t ready but fair enough the check in was 2pm but someone had phoned earlier &said they had left the keys in the door to the rooms so thought they were ready .No body here to sign us in one person making beds that was that not very welcoming .out look awful it has been neglected badly I understand we have been through some tough times but to come here &see the state of it I would never recommend this place .In fact I absolutely hate it &to be quite honest it upset me to stay here if only for one night.RegardsStephanie Joyce

Myself & my partner had a lovely meal here. 2 burger meals with 2 free drinks & it was all really nice! Good sized portions. Was happy to see those specials on offer as I don't find the Italian menu very appealing.

I an really disgusted with this restaurant the service was long. And there was a women with Brown short hair who was most rude and uncooperative. Whenever we asked if we could get something she would reply" im busy at the moment " when that is her job and she wasn't busy. i would not recommend it. Disgusted isn't even the word!

Went here about a week ago for the breakfast as I was recommended from my previous visit to the betty cottles inn was I very much enjoyed. Nice selection of items available and very very friendly staff would give more than 5 stars however limited to 5 haha for 5.95 you can have as much as you would like. Great value for money and food is clearly fresh which is a huge bonus. Will definitely return when I next come back down to devon I will be back 10000%

Went for the breakfast buffet, when we got there nothing was ready told take a seat should be long no ask if we wanted coffe or anything while we waited. Once the lad behind the bar turn messed up three coffe and just left waiting no told us when the food was ready. The service has gone down hill

Have been here on a couple of occasions and service was slow but food was lovely. Thought we would try it again in December as its recently changed hands and unfortunately the service was extremely disappointing. The staff were stressed as short staffed it seemed and they were trying their best but the pub was full and a full table of 12 adults waiting 40 minutes for their meal. We waited 20 minutes but we had to go to the bar to get drinks. Not sure if this is a waiter/waitress service but there was no signage to explain either way. Unfortunately we would think twice about going back as there are other establishments in the town that have great service and food.

We have been eating at this pub most Fridays for 7 years and it's always been our favourite pub. It's just changed hands and the whole atmosphere has changed. You no longer feel welcome, the staff don't really care. The food tastes good but the portions are tiny. When we raised it the chef was disinterested told us no one else had complained (I hate that) he was borderline rude and said the portion size reflected the cost of the food. I suggested he put the price up but he said the portion size would remain the same. There are plenty of nice friendly pubs that sell good food with reasonable portions for the same price with friendly staff so I don't think we will be going back
