Lovely, proper pub in a gorgeous location. The staff were friendly, the food was great and so was the beer. I live quite a long way away in mid Cornwall, but I shall certainly go again.

My partner and I came for a lovely weekend away to celebrate my friend’s 27th birthday, and were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by how friendly and accommodating the staff were, and the food was absolutely delicious. What was especially touching was when my partner accidentally left her bag at the restaurant. We were back home in London by the time we realised, but the team were kind enough to post this back to us, which I was beyond impressed by. Thank you so much for making our trip to Dartmoor even more wonderful ❤️

Great pub in Belstone. Lovely little pub offering good food and drinks. Stunning views from the beer garden overlooking Dartmoor National Park. The views are breathtaking. Staff are really friendly and helpful. The place is close to lots of walks over the moor. Situated about 5 minutes drive from the A30 through the lanes. There are a few historic places to see around the area. Also dog friendly which is really nice.

This is the most charming pub on the edge of Dartmoor in Belstone. The food outstanding especially the The Posh Cottage Pie and sticky toffee pudding. Nothing was too much trouble for Harley who looked after us exceptionally. She really went the extra mile, making us feel welcome and as though we had returned home. It was hard to drag ourselves away. A return trip is a must and for an overnight stay as I learnt they have two bedrooms! Even better next time would be alcohol free beer rather than alcohol low beer and less alcohol in the puddings. Thank you Harley and your team.

We stayed at the Tor2’s for a birthday treat. Absolutely excellent. We were made to feel welcome from the start. The local pub atmosphere combined with good food and a fabulous location make it hard to beat if you enjoy nosing around a village to look for its history and quirks or if you want to walk further on Dartmoor. There are also lots of historic places to visit nearby.

Opens from midday and serves a fine selection of typical pub food from burgers, pies and fish & chips. Beautiful setting just on the edge of the wild northern moor and has a beer garden on the green which catches and midday and afternoon sun!

We were staying in a cottage up the road and this was recommended to us. We first tried to come on a day that closed early! Our fault for not checking! So when we did get there we weren’t disappointed. A great little pub which was buzzing. I ordered the Cajun chicken salad - it was delicious. It was a miserable, wet evening - I bet it’s lovely when it’s warm outside.

Had lunch at The Tors in Belstone while the Shed was open (school holidays). Was lovely to eat outside overlooking the epic Dartmoor scenery. Our party had 3 different burgers; cheeseburger, maple & peanut butter bacon burger, & the veggie option Faloumi (falafel with halloumi), and all we're very tasty in brioche buns with lots of trimmings. Skin on chips nice & hot too.

We did a lovely hike and then decided to pop into the pub at the end and the pub staff were almost hostile. We felt very unwanted and it was very clear that we were unwanted in the pub. We asked if we could stand at the bar as understandably they were fully booked for tables and the bar tender acted like she really didn’t want our presence. It’s such a shame because it’s a lovely looking pub but the atmosphere was awful.

We stumbled upon this place while exploring dartmoor and what a find! Great food and lovely atmosphere this place is perfect for a pint (or 5) or for nice pub lunch/dinner. A great selection of beers to boot. The only downsides are it's location, while beautiful, is hard to get to especially at night, and it's a little expensive at lunchtime. We will definitely be back though!

After a 5-mile trek across the Moor, stepped into a warm welcome at Belstone's only pub, The Tors. While the pub has a cosy interior, given the warm and sunny weather, we decided to take our drinks (a pint of Jail Ale and a Sandford Orchards' Mist) to the outside seating area. What stupendous views! We will call in again! :-)

I visited The Shed at The Tors at around midday on Saturday. We were looking forward to it, having visited a fair few times beforehand. We got a frosty greeting from the lady serving. She rolled her eyes at the fact that we only wanted to order a few waters and one beer. I wanted to pay by card and was told that my first attempt was unsuccessful so tried again. On checking my bank a few days later I discovered that both payments had gone through. I can only hope this was an error on her part and not intentional. Her behaviour makes us reluctant to return in the future. Very disappointed!!

Booked for an evening meal here yesterday (24th July) and were not disappointed. Draught beers were great and the food was amazing. We came back from seeing the Nine Maidens Stone Circle nearby and had lunch there. The place is cosy. The food is good. They have child potions, too. There's a ramp for wheelchairs but the door frame might be too tight for bigger wheelchairs. Parking is difficult if you want to park close to it. There's a parking space a few yards upfront before you get there. They also have free WiFi.

It's a lovely place to visit, we went early evening on a Saturday in July and expected 'The Shed' to be open, but it wasn't, never mind you can still order food from the bar and they bring it out. The service was quick, but we were a little disappointed by a couple of aspects, we had two glass bottles of original coke, neither was particularly cold. When the burgers arrived we found they had been absolutely smothered with a pink coloured sauce (1000 island dressing type stuff) that totally dominated the taste, they make a big thing about using the highest quality local beef in the burgers, pity we couldn't taste anything but pink sauce! The chips were good though.

Amazing location right on the edge of the moor. Friendly and welcoming staff. I've eaten here several times and the food is consistently great. Good choice of beers and ciders. Love the quirky signs and the personality of the place ("Please don't feed the dogs, ponies or bar staff." It's also clear the pub is the heart of the village, with some nice touches like a prescription delivery service for locals etc. I'm usually here in the winter so sat out on the green for the first time today. If you sit outside, you can only have burgers - they only serve the full menu inside (not an issue - there were loads of different burgers to choose from, as well as a couple of other similar style dishes). Great to sit and enjoy lunch and a drink in the sun overlooking the moor and the burger was really excellent. My only bit of "constructive feedback" for them is to work on the outdoor service when 'The Shed' is closed as the experience was a bit... weird?! It felt a bit strange to be served a burger (as delicious as it was) in a takeaway box inside a paper bag. I genuinely wondered for a moment if they thought I'd asked for takeaway. On opening my paper bag, I was a bit surprised to find no knife and fork, condiments, napkin or even a paper plate. I get that it's a burger and most people eat it with their hands, but I really would expect cutlery and a plate when paying £20 for a burger and a drink - even if I have chosen to eat in the "beer garden". The burgers are big and very juicy so very messy to eat by hand. I went in to ask for a knife and fork. at the bar, but by the time I came back, birds had attacked my fries and knocked over my drink, so I just ate and left. It hadn't really been the relaxing lunch I'd hoped for! I will return - but next time I'd either eat inside, just go for a drink or perhaps go when the outside 'Shed' is open. They were quiet, so it wasn't because they were overrun.

The Inn also has a great beer garden with spectacular views of Dartmoor. What a pub. Great food and drinks. Hubster was like a kid in a sweet shop with the choice of beers and yes he sampled most of them. We stayed in a cottage just round the corner and the weather wasn’t the best that week. However, this pub was a welcoming place to relax after battling the elements. We booked to eat there 3 days but they ended up feeding us most of the week. Staff are a great team with plenty of banter which is always fun. Can't comment on the food, I'm sure it's lovely, but just a warning for any hikers or people wanting to stop off on the off chance of getting a table. We walked here from Okehampton, it was a wet Saturday afternoon in March, but when we got here it was fully booked. No chance of a quick snack either, it was just a blunt 'no, we're booked'. We where there at 12:30, we saw there were tables reserved from 1:30, we asked if we could have a quick snack and promised to be gone by 1:30 but it was still a blunt 'no'. This isn't a cosy Dartmoor pub where you can stop of for a beer and baguette. It's now more an expensive upmarket three course evening meal type of place. Fine if you're looking for that, but avoid if you're not.

8 of us booked for a late Saturday lunch, arrived through the swirling mists of Dartmoor to a nice old pub, very cheery and welcoming staff. Beers were excellent, poured straight from the barrel. The meat based pies were fantastic, great chunks of tasty meat in a rich gravy with a rich pastry case. The vegetables alongside were not overdone and tasted great. We strolled in, on a crispy cold day, spent walking a circular loop up on the nearby moors, with an impromptu dip in the icy waters to enliven (and then numb) the senses. Walking into the pub, the atmosphere was immediate and welcoming. It was full. Sunday Lunch on this fresh Sunday had obviously invited punters near and far, however, we headed straight to the bar, warmed by the open log fire, where the kind land lady and her bar staff informed us that there were no tables available at present, however, if we liked, we could sit at the bar. A nearby customer, said he had squeezed onto a long table with his large group of friends/ family, thereby freeing a table of two (our numbers) for us. A great bit of luck as the food looked and smelt great! We sat ourselves down, ordered one beef roast and one pork roast, which came in good time and feasted. What a delight. The portions were hearty. The food delicious. Local beef and local pork proving a fitting choice for this rustic and wholesome pub. Proper! The service was brilliant. Attentive and considered. There is a warmth and pleasantness embodied, which is natural and polite. I would thoroughly recommend coming here for a welcome rest-bite, Sunday lunch and drink by the fire. We will surely visit in the near future!

Went in for hot drinks only, so no food ordered. However the cake looked very good and prices are very reasonable. The cafe is a social space run by people connected to the local church. It's not open for long hours as it's a volunteer staffed cafe. Our drinks were excellent and the people there were really friendly and welcoming. Sad that we didn't eat anything, as going out after. It's a real community meeting place in a small village, so it's really important to the residents. If you're lucky enough to be in Bere Alston when it's open, do visit and support the community. You won't regret it! There are good small shops in the village too. Local butcher is well worth supporting. Good luck to the cafe, and the good hearted staff.

We will return as soon as we can.
