Not sure what's happened here but the food used to be great. Went today for breakfast and it was poor.. not sure I would go again

Fish an chip over price as the fis was very chew an over done . Chip over done for the price you would think you would have fresh fish not frozen to me it like Iceland cheap fish .will not be going there again . Husband had breakfast it was not good .an are grown up kids as well

Mis-selling, a thick shake should be made with ice cream, that's what makes it thick. What I had is a room temperature milk shake. Wife's pie was hot, my waffle didn't melt the ice cream. Disappointing

I had a delicious takeaway breakfast wrap created by the chef named Jack and served by the lovely delightful blonde named Pam. It is so good to break your journey and to be welcomed by people with happy smiling faces who seemed to be really keen to make your day. Overall, a real pleasure and I will be sure to visit again. Stopped off for breakfast (with the dog) this morning. Food and staff were amazing they allowed me to bring the dog in and while I went to get him they put a reserved sign on my table I had selected so I could keep him away from others and keep him quiet. Was the perfect start to my holiday and will definitely stop again when coming down to Cornwall.

Free parking, great menu and good service, what more can you ask! Facilities on site with dartmoor views.

For a service station based restaurant this was really clean, quick, and tasty. The staff were really good even though it was a busy Sunday. They catered to my mum's vegan requirements also. I would definitely come here again

Just had a lovely comfort break here. Nice clean facilities and very friendly staff Menu was good. I had the homemade pie. It was great but there was too much, not a bad thing. Lovely fresh veg too. My partner had a lovely sausage, egg and chips. And our son had a hearty breakfast. Which was huge!! Great drinks offering and as it was a lovely day we sat and watched the rabbits playing in the grass. Set in spacious grounds, there’s loads of room to stretch your legs and that of any dog too. All in all very nice and will defo be stopping here again in the future. Currently open 8am - 5pm

They call it a restaurant but its more a cafe and not a good one at that the Sunday roast dinner was awful and the cook ruined the battered cod as it was like cardboard we didn't complain as the staff service was superb and seamed to be very busy

Very rude manager Tasty enough panini! Asked for the bacon to be crisped up a bit before I ordered but that wasn’t possible apparently. Unfortunately the manager was very rude - first time visiting so didn’t realise you weren’t able to sit and wait at a table in their restaurant. Won’t be rushing back anytime soon hope it was just a bad day!

Unfortunately to say travelling to Cornwall as we do every year. My father has been diagnosed and needed some food. We have always gone here. My mother's coffee came right away however my father's breakfast was still not served after 45 minutes of waiting and we were being conscious that others around that had ordered similar food had their's. When questioned the staff replied 'we are just really busy' and we're quite impolite with no apology and because of the time for travel my father had to go hungry. We've always used this service for years and considering this was my father's last holiday it was upsetting to have a poor start due to lack of manners. Maybe lessons in customer excellence and taking responsibility for a mistake should be taken into account when training.

This was an amazing find. Super friendly staff, clean and bright with a great choice on the menu. Prices very reasonable and food served promptly and presented very nicely. Clean toilets and washrooms and easy parking. Can highly recommend. Makes such a refreshing change to find an independently run eatery when on a long journey - rather than the typical large chains which are usually awful anyway!

A group of friends and I go walking regularly and always come here when in the area. The menu has good choices and the staff are friendly. Also dog friendly. Really enjoyed my coronation chicken sandwich .

We always make extra effort to stop here on our way to and from Cornwall! The homemade food is always absolutely fantastic, and all the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Always a pleasure to visit, and we always come away well rested. Would highly recommend!

A welcome break from the A30. Our paninis were freshly prepared and served with crisps and a fresh salad. My wife had tuna and cheese, whilst my mother-in-law and I had bacon, brie and cranberry, all washed down with a nice pot of tea each. My wife and I stopped for lunch here several years ago, and were glad to see it was still going.

Wasn’t a bad place, paid £5 for a pint which was annoying, Had to buy food to have a drink so couldn’t just get a pint so came to a fair bit of money. By the time i had finished, I had found out that the staff thought i was rude which i found pretty confusing considering i was polite and considerate the whole time. Overall, not a bad place, bit pricey but wouldn’t come again.

New owners, have eaten 10/11times but not anymore. Sent meal back replacement not much better . Save your money go elsewhere.

I ve been using the Whitehouse for years and it's good food at a good price. As many places it sometimes has staffing problems these days but by far the best services anywhere.

We were impressed by this clean, modern cafe, just off the A30 near Okehampton and we recommend anyone to call. We only stopped for tea/coffee but found the some great staff serving well priced food and drink.

Called here yesterday for something to eat and drink, just before 3pm, it was closed, however the opening hours on the door did say closed 5pm, last orders 4.30pm, the closed sign was on, and the door locked.

Great stopping place for a quick hot snack and drink. There's a small grassy stretch which is perfect for exercising your dog during long drives. The staff are so lush!

I broke down and had to wait hours to be recovered so I thought this place looks very inviting as we were starving. I got there at 3:30pm and they said they stopped serving food, what a waste of a business that could be open for normal restaurant hours! I've sat outside and watched loads of families walking in and coming straight back out angry! It doesn't even state that when I looked on Google maps so a one star from me.

We popped into nothing service station restaurant yesterday and were nicely surprised! The staff are all super friendly. In fact it feels like one big family! The food was excellent too! A real gem😀

The breakfast was not cooked fresh and had clearly been kept under a hot plate for quite a while. When I commented, instead of a polite response such as we have been exceedingly busy or sorry it wasn’t cooked quite to your liking etc. Instead I got a mouthful from the cashier . Who said I had an attitude and as no one else had complained it must be something I do just to get a refund etc etc , not that I even actually asked for one. I only stated the food was not up to the standard of the price and could have done with being a little more cooked. The last thing a customer should get is abuse from the staff, hence I only give one star for the food and none whatsoever for the staff. Myself and my several staff travel the A30 regularly. They are now banned froM using this place and after the abysmal attitude of this staff member I will do my best to ensure I let as many other people as possible know

Been going here for years, food has always been top quality.

Restaurant beside a petrol/service station therefore will attract passers by, like us. The food was fine, baked potato and pie for his nibs. Seemed popular with elderly folk in the day we visited, Sunday, perhaps a place locals come to meet up. It was busy and service was pretty good.

Independently owned! Stopped on way on holiday for tasty breakfast. £11 for hearty bkfast £8.50 for English bkfast. Friendly efficient service.

Great breakfast. Clean restaurant and friendly service. Came here years ago and the place has been revamped and redecorated. Coffee here is far better than Luxtons up the road as well. Food was good. Will come again.

Lovely food, friendly staff, Gluten Free options available (that's a Gluten Free roll in the picture) on a good number of meals. I have been eating here for over 20 years and I usually stop here if I am passing. Also stopped in on my way home for lunch and had Cottage Pie and veg (all Gluten Free).

This is the cleanest, friendliest, and loveliest roadside services restaurant we have ever been in!, serving good value and good quality food , can’t believe we have never found you until today , after driving past for over 20 years on our way to Cornwall . Really well done to who ever runs this establishment.

We call in here frequently on the way to and from Cornwall and quite often have breakfast , brunch or lunch. Last Monday we both had gammon, egg and chips for lunch. Excellent as always, decent gammon steak, nicely cooked and presented. On Friday called in for brunch. Hubby had Hearty breakfast, which is his favourite but he sometimes has the Brunch. (very similar). Thick bacon slices, lovely sausages with tomato, beans, mushrooms, hash browns and a choice of toast or fried bread. I chose one of the specials this time and it was so good - cheese onion, bacon and tomato quiche with wholemeal pastry. Lovely he4by flavour too. Staff are always welcoming, friendly and efficient. Well used restaurant with lots of locals as regulars too. I don't recall having a bad meal or service here over the last few years. Highly recommended!

Visited on a Sunday. It was opened earlier that most other places in the area. Very cleaned and warm inside (cold winter's day) and nice friendly staff. Food was fresh and excellent quality. Can't fault it at all. Would definitely return if we were in the area.

I have visited Whitehouse restaurant many times over the years but yesterday was the first time I have had one of their roast dinners. It was honestly one of the best we have ever had in the area - choice of 3 or 4 meats & also a choice of portion sizes. I went for the large roast chicken dinner but to be honest the smaller one would have been plenty. Good selection of vegetables on the plate too & all beautifully cooked on a nice hot plate. We will definitely be back again very soon.. Another point worth noting with this establishment is that it is independently & locally owned & run so not part of a large national chain so I feel good that I am supporting a successful local business. Keep up the good work!

Top of my list for journeys out of county. Our hotel didn't do breakfast so searched for good breakfast Devon A30 and was glad I did great food, nice place, lovely staff. We went on a quiet morning the staff were lovely about subbing items on breakfast out. Produce they used was great quality, can taste the difference. Can't rate high enough. Going to be a new favourite stop when I occasionally leave Cornwall.

Terrible pasty- it was microwaved, rubbery and the vegetable pasty was rather gelatinous! Steak pasty wasn't much better either. Unfortunately both were quite inedible. Some staff members were friendly, but others were quite short tempered and seemed irritated at the order after we added another pasty to our order and the woman warming the food rolled her eyes when she heard we had ordered a veggie pasty with our steak one! Then we were told to sit down so we're out the way- could've been worded better in my opinion. Saw the roast dinners being served which looked alright but sadly our quick stop for lunch while on a long drive was a waste of time!

Visited as it approached closing time and still received great service, some other places tend to slack when it's time to go home... I ordered the all day brunch which was cooked perfectly with generous portions and enough to keep me going, my only regret is that I didn't have time for some of the cake they had on the counter teasing me

85 year old Mum used to visit as a kid and is still a regular. Great home made food by a local team. That also measn they don't keep usual 'services' hours and close late afternoon.

What a little gem while on our Christmas mini break found this lovely place met with a big warm welcome at the door giving menu. Once sat the menu was very good value and after all 3 of us finishing our beautiful meal. We realised what fantastic value it was food was lovely Sat and for a little bit before setting of again.

Last time I was here, I wrote that the scrambled eggs were very, very expensive so this time had sausage, egg, chips and beans. As a road side cafe, this is ideal. Having to pay as soon as you order, makes you feel like a potential crook, being 57 years young and the figure of an elephant, the chances of me being able to run are slim. There will never be Michelin stars awarded here but as a truckers cafe, it's fillls a hole. Stars mainly awarded by me because of location mainly.

Visited Whitehouse Restaurant on the 11/12/22 on way back home to Cornwall. No been here for some time. Really impressed with the new updated toilets and restaurant areas. Much nicer decor and tables in restaurant. Fresh clean and welcoming now. New menu was good although did notice scampi and all day breakfast was missing now on new menu. Breakfasts available but until 12.30 I believe. Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Food cooked to order arrived hot. Had the fish and chips and also sausage egg and chips. The Sausages looked great , not the catering type. The fish was a decent size cooked in batter. Slightly greasy but it did just come straight out of the fryer. But was a "nice" meal rather than delicious one if you know what I mean. Would still highly recommend if you're travelling down the A30 by Oakhampton. These family run businesses need to be supported 👍 Roadside restaurants like these are becoming a rare sight nowadays which is a shame.
