Had an amazing Sunday roast here - service was fab and pub was warm and cosy. I've only knocked a star off as I paid £6.40 for a can of 0.0 guinness and half a lime and soda - which seems quite highly priced

Went to the Austrian themed evening. Starters of fondue meats and bread .No complaints. Main course choice of breadcrumbed pork (viener schnitzel ) or potato onion and garlic topped with fried egg.Very dry dish ,the egg should have been runny and not overcooked as mine was ,and the garlic in the dish was burnt giving it a bitter taste. Those that had pork said it was very good, although I did see lady on next table put 3 pieces into her handbag-presumably for the dog. Pudding was apple strudel or pancakes. The strudel was served with some sort of cream-probably out of a can.Would have been better with ice cream or clotted. Could not fault the service

This is such a cozy, little pub. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff super friendly. They're also a dog friendly pub which is a bonus Me and my partner had the burger, he had the beef and I had the pork and chorizo one. You can tell they're fresh and the flavour is delicious. The chips are the lightest and fluffiest chunky chips I've ever had, they're beautiful. This was a lovely place for us to eat out to celebrate our anniversary, delicious food and relaxed environment.

Very dissapointed, our first meal was lovely so we decided to re-book for this evening. Tonight the Market Fish was ordered for my Mother, the sautéed potatoes were hard, as were the peas. So only the fish was eaten. Considering paying £18 for the meal we decided to mention it, as only a third of the dinner was eaten. The young lady was lovely and said she would say something, so we paid and took our leave. It is a resl shame, however we certainly wouldn't return.

Was treated to a birthday lunch. First time here and will definitely be back. I had burger. Yes you can get burger anywhere but not homemade pork and chorizo burger. Wow it was delicious. Juicy and tender. Other dishes on the table were Traditional battered haddock and chips. A venison stir fry and a fish of the day which was served on the bone. All of which looked incredible and all plates finished. Great choice anal beers available. Good value for money and a great cozy friendly pub environment. 10/10.

As others have pointed out, portions are tiny for the price of the food, a thimble of Coleslaw with a £15 burger is very odd, as is no sauce on the burger, leading to a dry burger, which is not what i expect for £15.50, the beef patty was of good quality, but served on a slip of lettuce, a tiny slice of tomato and zero sauce offered or given, seems lazy from the kitchen to me,, leading to a bland burger. My daughters burger was a kids burger, £8, no sauce, no salad, just bap and burger, which again lead to a dry burger. I will add that the chips and garlic bread with cheese were lovely. For me, if a posh pub cannot put out tasty burgers, I'm guessing the kitchens got problems. Don't get me wrong the food was all eaten, but at the prices the New Inn is charging, I'd expect 'edible' not to be the overall impression left. Desserts were nice, but again overpriced. The staff were/are friendly, so no issues with the service, but we are unlikely to return.

The New Inn epitomizes the quintessential Devon pub experience, offering the expected traditional charm enriched with a welcoming and homely atmosphere. The exterior is visually striking, boasting a thatched roof and a spacious beer garden, instantly creating a sense of comfort. Ample parking, including additional spaces across the road, enhances convenience, while the large beer garden provides ample room to bask in the occasional appearance of sunlight. Inside, a delightful log fire, low ceilings adorned with beautiful wooden beams, and locally-produced artwork contribute to a cozy and homely ambiance. For chilly nights, the thoughtful provision of blankets adds a nice touch to the outdoor experience. The attentive and welcoming staff, along with friendly landlords, ensure a comfortable visit. The food, swiftly delivered and artistically presented, features a diverse menu with excellent vegetarian choices and classic pub fare. The vegetarian curry, a favorite for my daughter, remains a consistent delight, while the ever-changing fish option consistently impresses. The pub's frequent themed nights, like the upcoming murder mystery evenings in the new year, add an exciting element to the overall experience. In essence, The New Inn strikes a perfect balance, offering the warmth of traditional Devon coupled with a compelling and varied menu, ensuring each visit leaves you content and satisfied.

My husband and I were staying nearby and needed a gluten free friendly place to eat as I am a Ceoliac. The food is clearly indicated what is gluten free on the menu (this is ALWAYS a winner!) I had a burger and it was delicious. My husband had the chicken supreme (also gf) and that was 10/10. We liked the food and the vibe of the place so much we booked a table for the next day for Sunday dinner. We ordered the beef roast and honestly it was the best roast dinner I’ve ever eaten out at. Most places don’t even do GF gravy or the potatoes are coated in flour. But the New inn did it all including homemade Yorkshire puddings! Can’t comment on the deserts as we were just too full but they looked delicious. Lastly, the staff were super friendly. We got chatting to the waitress who told us she is the taster for all things GF and dairy free as she has Chrons and she was telling us how important it is to ensure it’s an allergy safe place to eat. Which is the assurance any person with an allergy wants to hear and even the awareness of cross contamination! All pubs need to take note of this! We would be back here in a heartbeat when we are in the area again.

We have used & enjoyed the New Inn with friends for 15 years. However, after a post Covid delay of 18 months, we wanted to see how it is now - Never again. The food was nothing remarkable but tasty & ok. Unfortunately the front of house service was unwelcoming and un-smiling. But what really took the biscuit, was when we gently pointed out that a round of drinks for four had not been included on the bill. The response was an 'Oh' and a corrected bill was produced, but without an apology or word of thanks, it was a purely transactional process. Neither was there any effort to say 'thank you you for coming' or 'goodnight' - the basics of good pub hospitality. We were so astonished and angry, we thought it better to say nothing to regret later, just leave and not return.

Some of us had the excellent set Sunday lunch option with a choice of either turkey or beef as the meat, a very good selection of veg was also available with special mention to the cauliflower cheese. Others of us tried the normal menue ranging from fish and chips, Thai green curry, Market fish of the day, and again special mention to the glazed pork ribs. Service was quick and efficient. We only popped in for a pint and some cheesy chips, as we were eating at the end of our walk. The carvery looked and smelt awesome! Portion size was good, and prices were very reasonably pitched. Great venue, which will obviously be stunning in summer! Still very busy, but lots of staff to serve you, with table service. Service wasn't the quickest, but they were busy, and it was polite when it came. Atmosphere was more towards the 'family' vibe, so if you're not a fan of lots of kids, be mindful to visit in the week! They really could've done with lighting some of their fires to make it feel cosier as the temperature is dropping! It was quite cold inside! We will be back to eat a proper meal here and enjoy a quieter visit.

No draught lager, so a pint of shandy cost £6 as you had to pay for a bottle of lager and a lemonade Carvery itself was underwhelming. Frozen Yorkshire puddings are always a bit of a let down. £16 for a large roast dinner which wasn't particularly large. It just meant you can have 2 of the 4 meats (1 slice of each) Beef overcooked, pork looked very fatty. Turkey was ok. Cauliflower cheese was raw. Gravy wasn't very good. Roast potatoes looked deep fried and weren't very nice. The leek gratin was very nice though. Wouldn't go again unfortunately.
