Lovely pub. Great views of Dartmoor. Pub is in the middle of nowhere with nothing within a couple of miles each side. Good selection of drinks and interesting history about the place. Roast dinner was a little disappointing. Very crispy, hard to cut, dry roast potatoes, thin meat. Gravy just tasted like bisto and everything else tasted like it was supermarket frozen food. The fresh boiled veg was nice. Partner had rabbit pie, which was well filled and tasty. Chips weren't very tasty.

Lovely pub in a spectacular setting. It’s nothing fancy but still has a cosy feel and the staff are lovely. The food is standard pub stuff (pie and chips and sausage a mash), not amazing for veggie/vegan options but they were accommodating and helpful nevetheless. A lovely place to stop by for food and a drink with a view.

I know this will be a plus for some, but for us the portion sizes are just ridiculously huge. Always feel guilty for wasting. I also want to go somewhere and experience different things like a starter or pudding but no room, or you waste more to fit it in. I hate wasting food or money. If someone has a huge appetite they can get a starter, side and pudding. I love coming here and bringing people here but we stay for a drink only most times.

One ticked off my bucket list and Prince William’s the week before! I sat in his seat and ate the same excellent steak and ale pie as he did! Fascinating history of the pub displayed all around the log fires 🔥 including the one that never goes out. I could stand being snowed in here in the highest pub on Dartmoor reading my book “Professor Harry Parker and the Tunnels of Argonaut Bay” available on Amazon Kindle. A light hearted Victorian romp based around the creation of the Tunnels Beaches at Ilfracombe!

We first came here in 2018. Little did we knew my Late Father in Law, Keith Burling used to love this place as he used to live in Okehampton. After his funeral last week, we all came to Warren House Inn to remember him. We sat on the same bench he did a year ago. Coincidentally when we got there, the same bike was parked right next to the bench that my Father in Law sat a year ago. So that is exactly where we sat and remember him by. Warren House Inn gives the Best view of Dartmoor Park. It is at the centre of the Park, giving the visitors all the picturesque views. The food and the service absolutely top notch!!! I really recommend this pub. Thank you so much despite not knowing why we visited. ♥️

Recently visited this lovely pub on Dartmoor, it's a stunning pub in a beautiful area but we had an unfriendly welcome due to having a 4 year old child, the miserable bar man (think his name was Tony) sent us into the next room over which was quiet and dull. We were going to stay for food but didn't stay for long as we felt unwelcome, I'm sure with better staff this could be a place worth visiting

The food I had was lovely but as my mum's food was brought out, she noticed there was peppers in the salad(this was not stated on the menu). My mum kindly mentioned she was allergic and asked if they could replace the garnish. The lady who brought the food was short tempered and rolled her eyes at my mum's request. She very obviously just took the peppers off, therefore my mum couldn't trust eating the garnish. This is an issue as she had a severe allergy and allergens were not clearly stated on the menu as they should be. As we walked into the pub the owner did not seem pleased that we had a child with us and ushered us into an empty back room. He was abrupt and we felt very rushed and awkward. Will not be returning.

As part of a Dartmoor Walking Group we visit many pubs throughout Dartmoor and this was our 2nd visit to the WHI as the area provides many good walking routes. During our first visit, last year we found the food to be very basic and dry, though the landlord and atmosphere were good. On this occasion (1st May 2024) it is fair to say that the food and service were of a poor quality and presentation. We did not complain at the time, which I know is a British weakness, but we did feel for hardworking waitress, who may also have been doubling up as the Cook. Compared to all the other pubs/inn's we have visited over our walking years, the Warren Inn comes bottom on food. There is lots of room for improvement, which can be achieved.

We only popped in for a pint and some cheesy chips, as we were eating at the end of our walk. The carvery looked and smelt awesome! Portion size was good, and prices were very reasonably pitched. Great venue, which will obviously be stunning in summer! Still very busy, but lots of staff to serve you, with table service. Service wasn't the quickest, but they were busy, and it was polite when it came. Atmosphere was more towards the 'family' vibe, so if you're not a fan of lots of kids, be mindful to visit in the week! They really could've done with lighting some of their fires to make it feel cosier as the temperature is dropping! It was quite cold inside! We will be back to eat a proper meal here and enjoy a quieter visit.

No draught lager, so a pint of shandy cost £6 as you had to pay for a bottle of lager and a lemonade Carvery itself was underwhelming. Frozen Yorkshire puddings are always a bit of a let down. £16 for a large roast dinner which wasn't particularly large. It just meant you can have 2 of the 4 meats (1 slice of each) Beef overcooked, pork looked very fatty. Turkey was ok. Cauliflower cheese was raw. Gravy wasn't very good. Roast potatoes looked deep fried and weren't very nice. The leek gratin was very nice though. Wouldn't go again unfortunately.
