Having just read the last review, fairly negative prompted me to air my views. Our family have been visiting Fingles Bridge for at least 10 years and the only time we were disappointed was when they had a major power cut and had to close for a couple of days for repairs. We usually meet up at the Inn about 4 times a year, maybe more and never once have we had a bad visit, always lovely staff and good service, always tasty, good food and always a good time. And then to top it all we have a great walk with our dogs in fabulous countryside. I was so surprised to have read a negative message. Keep up the good work Fingles Bridge Inn.

Food can either be late or bad but should never be both! We waited over 30 minutes for our lunch and what arrived was extremely disappointing. A clubed together cheese sandwich and a bowl of nachos with most of the cheese not melted. Adding to this was a waitress with a poor attitude and awareness. We were there in the off season so I can't imagine what it will be like in the height of summer!! Avoid at all costs and bring your own packed lunch!

We have called in here quite a few times before for a drink while walking in the Teign Valley. We often combine a walk to here with a visit to Castle Drogo..Our recent visit was at the end of January on a bright but showery winter day. There a real fire burning and a warm welcome on our arrival. We got a table with a river view, and enjoyed an excellent warming soup before continuing our walk. We will be back to walk along the river again.

We stop at this picturesque pub quite often. The location is great and you’d expect a great score on the review BUT it’s the most weird service which lets the place down every time we stop in. They actively discourage you from walking up to the bar, which is frustrating when you want to see what drinks are on offer. They also do a strict wait to be seated thing, even when pub is nearly empty. It’s almost like the management love partial Covid restrictions still. All very odd. The other thing is the decor - it’s stuck in the 80s so best to get a table outside if weather permits (and of course staff) permit!

Only dropped a star for food as my meringue was poor, but our beef hotpots were absolutely perfect for a cold wet day. Add in the superb views of the river wending it's very beautiful way past the pub plus a roaring log fire and we have the reason Dartmoor in winter is so absolutely irresistible.

Made a nice change to sit in a pub where people were playing card games laughing and actually talking to each other rather than looking at a device. We only popped in for a pint and some cheesy chips, as we were eating at the end of our walk. The carvery looked and smelt awesome! Portion size was good, and prices were very reasonably pitched. Great venue, which will obviously be stunning in summer! Still very busy, but lots of staff to serve you, with table service. Service wasn't the quickest, but they were busy, and it was polite when it came. Atmosphere was more towards the 'family' vibe, so if you're not a fan of lots of kids, be mindful to visit in the week! They really could've done with lighting some of their fires to make it feel cosier as the temperature is dropping! It was quite cold inside! We will be back to eat a proper meal here and enjoy a quieter visit.

The pub was relatively quiet, but that is to be expected midweek in November. We were greeted and seated quickly by the friendly staff. The food was really good. The meat in my burger was delicious. My wife had a vegan curry pasty, which was also delicious with first-class pastry. The menu might perhaps benefit from a couple more vegetarian options. The food was a good price for the size of the plate and the quality. The staff were friendly and helpful with questions about the menu. The service was good. Great riverside pub, the food on offer is very good indeed, with good portion sizes. The staff are all attentive to your requests and the service is quite fast. The pub has the extra advantage of having several beautiful riverside walks on the doorstep to either have some exercise before your meal or walk off the meal when you have had it. OK the drive down to it is a little difficult with narrow roads, but it is well worth the effort.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Great, amazing location. We sat outside overlooking the river on a beautiful, sunny day in June. The food we ordered arrived luke warm and would best be described as low-end school canteen type food. We did raise this with the young man serving us, and he was great. The last time we met with our friends we visited the Skylark for a Sunday roast and enjoyed a superb lunch in comfortable, friendly surroundings, so as we hadn't seen each other for quite a while we decided to opt for a gathering, once again at the Skylark Inn. A warm welcome for each of our party of six, promptly seated, drinks orders taken and menus handed out. Five of us chose a roast and one Cod, Chips and Peas. The meals were delivered to the table, piping hot - a warning being given for 'very hot plates' (which they were), each one of us commenting on the high standard of our meals. I love a traditional roast and the team at the Skylark certainly know how to plate up a good, hearty, tasty and traditional roast. Stuffed full, we had no room for dessert but the dessert menu was enticing to say the least. Sadly it appears the great British boozer is steadily disappearing what with increasing overheads and costs, so those who offer such fayre as a Sunday roast have to stay well on their game with both reasonable cost and a high standard of meals. The Skylark certainly ticks the boxes in that respect. Our thanks to the team for a most enjoyable and memorable lunch. Proper ansum

So we had googled dog friendly places to stop for food on our way home from Cornwall. We were a group of 4 adults and 2 dogs. Definitely not dog friendly. When we arrived out of courtesy I asked a waiter of it was ok to come in with dogs he very rudely said as long as they don't make a sound I said well sometimes dogs do bark we looked at each other and said shall we go somewhere else . He then said its OK you can sit over in the corner . We reluctantly went in as my elderly father in law is diabetic and needed to eat . We ordered at the till and the same waiter was rude again . A young man brought our drinks over and just dumped the tray full of drinks onto the table with no words spoken to us . The food came very quickly which was good as the staff kept staring at us so we wanted to get out as soon as possible . The lady who brought our food was quite pleasant . We felt very uncomfortable being stared at by the staff while we were eating . The food wasn't great and we would never go there again or suggest that anyone else does if it were an option I would give no stars at all

Lovely traditional pub . Had planned a meet up with friends and this was the suggestion. Google reviews were very mixed so I was unsure what to expect. Well, it was really super. Cosy pub, lovely staff, tasty food. Good value. It's not a gastro pub, it's just a traditional pub with a cosy atmosphere and food to refuel. And surrounded by ponies and sheep.
