Had fish and chips several times now. I favour the steamed fish, but my husband likes his battered. The batter is light and tasty, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Portions are good, and everything is cooked freshly. Wouldn’t go anywhere else now. Haven’t tried eating ‘in’ yet, but I’m sure it would be just as good.

Disappointed. Rude staff openely complaining about customers. Eye rolling muttering and swearing under their breath. Avoid on a busy saturday, however I wont go back - ever. The tall guy with a beard needs to change career. Waited over an hour for food 3 out of 7 of us were ill the next day

Served in the Bar for a second time on Saturday 28th September and served by the two same men. They were amazing and went above and beyond to make the experience for us as enjoyable as possible. They gave us a lovely table despite an event being on and even set up the specials board accordingly. Service was friendly, quick and fantastic. Food was good too, as were the drinks and the ambience overall. Can't recommend highly enough.

Fantastic cafe in fact so good we visited twice in a week! Had a breakfast which was lovely, great quality ingredients and served fresh and hot. Went back for an omelette and fish finger butty both spot on. Had to have cream tea as well which I have to say the scones really are the best in the area. They were lush. Also took a slice of coffee cake away with us! ..well we are on holidays. Honestly this is a gem of a place. Dog friendly too which is always a bonus for us. Dont walk past it do go and see the ladies they do not disappoint.

So glad we came across this cake shop 🧁 We were visiting the local pet shop and stopped in our tracks when we seen these amazing cakes through the window! Also, what a happy soul you have working there too! Singing their absolute heart out, and quite possibly the happiest person we met all holiday 🥰 (30th May).

We had a great evening celebrating with family; Rosie the new landlady was brought in a wealth of enthusiasm, warmth and developmental ideas to enhance the atmosphere, coupled with a great choice of drinks. Thanks for your commitment to ensure us regulars enjoy good Real Ale in clean pumps, difficult to find at other establishments. Clean and tidy throughout, tasteful decor with a welcoming team of staff. Rosie has different acts and entertainment available through the week, plenty of seating, though I do suggest arriving early to get the best seats. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Don't have there Sunday lunch as a local its awful u can get better food just down the road the bucheener or even in a local cafe to charge 14.95 in shocking to have the logo eat like a royal is an insult. Do not eat here or be disappointed with food and the service they provide its a place well worth avoiding. They also have too many staff members talking rather than doing their jobs. I hated the place. The quiz night All taken too seriously the bar snd service is very slow. The hotel at the royal nothing to offer customers bit dom and glem and half the staff as dead. I have never seen such a poorly ran hotel and staff that don't care about the customers buy care about lineling there own pockets with the money the hotel makes to pay their wages. I'm sorry the truth hurts but someone has to say something for your staff to change spending 15mins to talk to one customer is over the top. I think this place need some sort of control and it works from the top down.
