These guys are great. They framed a whole body of my St Ives paintings, to the agreed dates for an exhibition. Helpful and good value. Can’t recommend highly enough. Many thanks. Oliver

Have been using their farming service for many years and always delighted with their friendly efficient service. A real asset to have such an excellent shop in St Marychurch.

The picture framing service offered here beats the local rivals on three scores: 1. The proprietor greeted me politely, welcoming my enquiry (rather than trying to put me off with an I'm too busy attitude, and claiming that he couldn't give an estimate based on measurements, but had to see the actual picture). 2. The range of mouldings available were of a nicer aesthetic quality. 3. The price quoted was considerably cheaper.

I have had dozens of pictures framed at Portfolio. They have a good selection of frames and the artistic eye to suggest mounts which enhance your picture. Lovely people, good cards and gifts in the shop too. I usually end up buying something.

Firstly the art and craft shop if a place to find something different, some unusual gifts, cards, painting's and other forms of art. Used by locals and visitor alike. Having passed through the shop you reach the small coffee shop which serves great coffee, leaf tea and homemade cakes, soup, several types of sandwiches. Great personal service both in the café and shop. We visited them twice and even asked if they could send a picture to someone which the readily offered to order and get delivered within a week. Outstanding service from a great treasure of a shop and café. Keep up the good work.

Lovely for a quick newspaper read, coffee and especially hot chocolate. Food on offer but didn't have time. Quite busy so obviously popular. Also enjoyed the gallery.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Portfolio is a gallery selling prints, paintings, greetings cards and some stationery. Adjacent to it, through a corridor, is a small café with about five tables, some for two people, some for up to four with, opposite the counter, a shelf with, next to it, some bar stools for those who don't mind 'perching' to have their beverage. It is a clean, bright place but I have found a couple of drawbacks, nothing to do with the food/drink on offer, and which are (1) the place is very small and therefore we felt truly confined, chairs butting up against those of the next table, and we had to push the heavy table away in order to get in and out and (2) there is only light from the sky lights in the roof and personally I like to be able to see outside when seated in a café. Also, although we chose only cups of coffee (simple Americano, nothing fancy) and a toasted teacake for my husband and a plain cheese scone for myself, we waited for rather a long time for our order even though the place wasn't busy - well, there are so few tables it would be difficult for such a place ever to be referred to as 'busy'. But there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food and drink (except our waitress had to return for milk which had been overlooked.) Were I the owner of this establishment I would certainly consider swapping the café with the gallery. Then customers could sit in the more spacious shop of these premises, with a lovely view through the large window of the thoroughfare outside. We visit St Marychurch regularly and I have yet to see the gallery busy with customers (this isn't to say that this is always the case, I'm just making an observation), and as people eating and drinking and enjoying themselves are a magnet to others, this might be the way forward? Then once in, customers might also decide that they want to peruse the pictures, etc? Just a thought, chaps! Other than that, a nice little place for a quick cuppa. PS Although we only had toasted tea cake and scone, there are several other items on offer, such as panninis. Also, take-away beverages are on offer.
