Amanda and I stumbled upon this little cafe yesterday and had a great breakfast. So good that we have come back again today. From the minute we walked in the staff, Angela and Richard were welcoming and very friendly, offering tips and nice places to visit and local advice. We both had mega breakfasts, which were hot fresh and very tasty, especially the bacon which I can be fussy about. We did ask for some extras which were not a problem at all. All in all a little gem of Babbacombe village. Good honest tasty food at great prices in a welcoming and clean enviroment.

We went to The Bay tree cafe on Saturday before we set off on our journey . We each had Full English breakfast and it was absolutely lovely. The owner was friendly and professional and the cafe had a cosy atmosphere. We definitely recommend paying a visit.

Nothing is too much trouble in here. Staff wonderful and the food tasty. Its a cafe not a restaurant and the food is inexpensive, highly recommend.

Five of us arrived cold and hungry after diving at Babbacombe. We left 45 minutes later warm and well fed. A great breakfast at a very competitive price. It does not matter if you go for something from the menu or go freestyle and make it up as you go along, everything arrives quickly and piping hot.

I haven't been for a while. The food is great, the prices are fair and the staff are friendly. That's why I always go back. When my schedule allowed I would be there every Saturday morning, now it's a bit harder but when I have time I go. Want a good breakfast then look no further.

I stopped in for breakfast on my own. The food was ok, nothing particularly good, but vfm. The service and ambience was very poor though. The cafe was very cold (most customers kept their overcoats on) and less than half full. Nevertheless, I waited a surprisingly long time to even give my order, waited a bit longer than normal for it to come, and when it came it wasn't quite what I ordered. I wasn't going to send it back and wait even longer though! What was most surprising was that, while I was sitting there, four customers turned up. The waitress surveyed the less than half full café, then told them that they couldn't come in and would have to come back in 15 minutes. Two of the four would-be customers waited outside in the drizzle, while the other two went to the shops. After ten minutes, during which time no-one else entered or left the café, she opened the door and told them they could come in. What was that about? It's all a bit League of Gentlemen!

Lovely hearty cooked mega breakfast with black pudding and extra fried bread. Too much in the end but if you want filling in a lovely cafe then this is the place.

We had the mega breakfast and it was really excellent - the food was tasty and service was attentive and quick. The place is small but we didn’t feel hurried. Easy to find by the main road. Overall I would definitely recommend for brunch or lunch.

Excellent full English breakfast! I've been here twice with a friend for brunch and haven't been disappointed. It's a bit cold in the cafe, but the food is always excellent and the service good. The price is also very good considering the quality!

We were very lucky to find The Bay Tree Cafe. It was exactly what we were looking for. We had such a friendly kind welcome, when we arrived. I noticed that everyone in there was treated the same way. We were made to feel at home. The brunch we had was proper comfort food and a pot of tea. It was very, reasonably priced. If we didn't live so far away, we would definitely, go there more often.

Decided to visit bay tree cafe. It was 1.45 we both thought it closed at 2.30. It does actually close at 2pm. We were told it was still OK to to order. We both had a gammon steak, chips egg and peas. It was delicious. 😋 It arrived quickly. We both really enjoyed it. Definitely value for money. Friendly and cosy. Will certainly visit again. 😻

We came for Sunday breakfast because of it’s reviews. I wasn’t disappointed. Lovely food, not greasy and cooked just right. Seldom have I had crispy hash browns that aren’t overdone. Go for the mega breakfast, it comes with a choice of toast. I had black pudding as well all washed down with a pot of tea. Delicious. You won’t need anything till the evening after this breakfast. The staff are very friendly and welcoming with a touch of old school, and with that I mean impeccable manners and respect for the clientele. This is a one-in -a-million cafés, thoroughly enjoyable. You can’t beat the prices either. Much more reasonable than many other establishments. A lot of others could learn a lot from the way this place is run. Certainly coming back and highly recommend.

Popped in as it was open Sunday morning. We needed grub before we went shopping for camping holiday. Look, we're connoisseurs of the English breakfast!! This was one of the best we've ever had. Great little place

And now this Sunday I'm a bit gutted. We went in near 10.30. Only 2 family's there. All the other tables had reserved on them. So the lady said "we are full". We know from our experience 2 Sundays prior that the service is quick and we eat quick.... would have even finished in half an hour. Really gutted we didn't get our breakfast

myself and my grandad visited this morning (19/7/23) for some breakfast as we had an hour before an appointment. the food was absolutely beautiful, the portion sizes were perfect, the service was efficient. Lisa was extremely lovely and nothing was too much of an ask (i had quite a few changes made to my meal, and Lisa had no issue in getting that done for me). overall, a lovely experience and we will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Had read the reviews and thought would it a try, personally they were wrong. It was far better than that. Not only did it provide everything you expect like cleanliness, excellent service and exemplary food at good value but more so. As soon as you enter there is a certain feeling that you are going to enjoy the experience and Angela is the epitome of the perfect host.

We had a cracking breakfast here today, everything was perfectly cooked with great service and lots of selection to choose from. I had a lovely Latte from the posh Barista machine and my wife had a nice strong cup of tea. Everything was perfect and faultless and very reasonably priced. 👌

Went there with my girlfriend and her family and felt welcomed as soon as I walked in. Wonderful service, kind staff, and incredible kitchen. The only let down is that I didn't discover this place earlier.

Looking forward to breakfast , turned you 9 am ( said they were open 8.30 ) a lady in the doorway said she be back at 10 am she’s gone to the cash and carry. We walked around and waited 10.30 , nobody there ? Disappointed, parhaps next time put a note on your door to let us know when you open ? Trying to support the smaller businesses.

Just got home after another terrific breakfast at Bay Street Café. I have been there many times and never had a bad meal. Today, mega breakfast and my wife liver and onion. Food was great, service was great. Photos below just to make you hungry.

We ventured here after an underwhelming experience at Babbacombe Model Village. Upon arrival we were seated and our order taken within 20 minutes. The owner (whose name we forgot to ask for) was lovely and asked us a few questions about our time in Torquay etc. The food was great, and super affordable. I had the jacket potato and my partner has the cottage pie. Piping hot, tasty and kept our tummies full! We tried to leave a tip but the owner said she couldn't accept it! So am writing this review as a huge thank you! Next time we are in Torquay, the Bay Tree Cafe will be at the top of our list! Xx

Very good value and good food, the mega breakfast is very large and unbeatable value. Convenient parking just across the road.

Great little cafe with very reasonable prices. We had coffee's and the Mega Breakfast (all day) and Gammon, eggs, chips and beans. Everything was piping hot and very quickly served. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend. Parking is across the road and bonus of public toilet too.

We are having a long weekend away with the children and found this cafe by happy accident exploring. Lovely food, friendly service, amazing coffee! And very reasonable prices. The lady serving us was very lovely.

Avoid at all costs! Turned up at approx 1pm to a face of thunder from one of the staff - hardly welcoming. All tables had reserved signs on tables to avoid people coming in, as they likely wanted to close early. We were rushed to order our food as we were told the kitchen was closing at 1.45pm. Coffee was below average, and the meals were average at best. The fish was under cooked and clearly rushed - tho they did not charge us for this (probably they only good thing I have to say). When we finished our meals the staff had their coats on when clearing our table; an obvious hint they wanted us to leave. I won’t be visiting again.

Found this cafe today and so glad we did. It is Pancake Day and we had Bacon, Maple Syrup Pancakes - and the pancakes were homemade - Fabulous! The staff were so friendly, so will definitely be going back! 10/10

Our dive club regularly uses this café, and we've never had a bad meal there. We've always been made welcome, and the food is very good and well priced. Thoroughly recommended.

Visit here most Saturday mornings for a breakfast. Nothing negative to say, it's spot on and excellent value.

Angela & Richard serve up a wonderful breakfast, buckets of tea and all at the drop of a hat. Add in the very reasonable prices and you just can't beat the Ba Y Tree for breakfast.

Went in here for the first time, for a 'Full English' . There were two choices - Huge or Medium. I went for the 'medium' - roughly speaking 'one of everything you would expect'. The egg, beans and tomato were all good but the rest...

The best and only place to eat inTorquay. Always made to feel welcome. The food is exceptional and reasonably priced. Service is excellent can't fault it one bit. Great portions and big too. I went here on the 27/9/22, the staff are friendly and prompt with service, food was very nice and hot. It's not fast food, it's good food served as fast as they can. While in there another customer said best cafe that they had found.

Fantastic value - all day mega breakfast (3x bacon, 2x sausages, 2x fried eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes,baked beans) plus toast and a pot of tea for around £8.50.

Had food here asked for no eggs and tomato on the all day breakfast and if they can swap it for an extra sausage. Recieved the food and we didn't recieve an extra sausage but was charged the full price. The lady giving us the drinks broke a glass and dropped one of the cans on the floor which she did not offer to swap so when I opened it. It went all over the floor, table and me. The chef ended up cleaning the glass and the lady did not apologise or acknowledge the mistake. Had to ask for a new can of drink after it went everywhere. Still hungry and won't be returning. Was charged £21.90 for 3 cans 2 breakfast ( 3 ingredients ) and bacon on toast!
