Babbacombe Inn in Torbay

First time there in many years. I only had a drink. But my friends had food. Which looked great

Lovely food, great service, will come again 😃

It was a lovely location and we had chosen to go there for breakfast, the service was good for others. I am gluten free and I had looked online and was happy knowing they could cater, however when I arrived at just before 10 there was no food other than a curry that I was able to have. There was no discussion with the chefs to see if there was a way for the breakfast to be GF so alas, I sat hungrily watching others who had ordered first eat their breakfasts. The others breakfast looked lovely, and I had a nice hot chocolate. We did ask if there would be more GF options available in the future (other than the one curry) and the answer was no as it wasn't needed or asked for often. Sadly I won't be going again.

Cannot fault quality of food or service.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. I like that there's a proper stage for the karaoke and the in-house sound system sounds great. Bar prices slightly better than some neighbouring pubs. Nice to be able to still get a drink under a fiver these days!

A very clean and well presented restaurant. Excellent service from the team. A very reasonable selection on the menu and all main meals under £20. Food delivered to the table in a timely manner. The steak and Ale pie was generous and very well made. The raspberry pavlova was heavenly. Located with a beautiful sea view. Local on street parking available a short walk away. Paid parking just a two minute walk. Wheelchair accessible. Toilets on the ground floor. I would absolutely recommend and will go back

Nice and relaxing atmosphere. Great views and friendly staff. Didn't have food but the menu and prices looked very good value.

Went for my birthday, had a Sunday roast. Plate arrived, could not see the meat under gravy, the meat was as thin as you could get, vegetables was old and pale looking, the only good was the roast potato only 3.

Absolutely amazing we had the sizzler plate 2 nights running and just had a sizzler breakfast all was really tasty and value for money and the staff are friendly and efficient can't do enough for you

Fantastic set of sizzlers tonight(05/02/25) steak & Cajun chicken, side of onion rings. Cooked to perfection and fantasticly hot and fresh. All the girls serving tonight were super lovely. Nice one guys

From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a friendly polite manner. We were a little early but were seated at our table straight away. Weren't sat for long at all and somebody came to take our order of drinks and food. Food and drinks came almost immediately. Food was absolutely amazing tasty and cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back again. Staff are nothing short of amazing. I would give 10 stars.

Great value breakfast and a wonderful view of the bay . Food is always hot and tasty . Added bonus was a free hot drink courtesy of babbacombe theatre with our theatre tickets . We love to stop off for pre show drinks or food

What an amazing place to stop for sunday roast. the service was brilliant so friendly and fast too. plenty of seating inside and out . it was the occasional of my sisters 50th birthday and you kindly let us book in . She said it was lovely thank you . we will definatly return. good job we came this weekend as it shuts for refurbishments for a few weeks tomorrow.

Had another fantastic breakfast this morning. Service is always excellent, would like to give a mention to waitress yaz who is always fab , friendly and always has a smile and is always willing to stop and talk .

We've been regulars for many years and can honestly say we have never been disappointed with the food or service. This place knows what they're doing and is well managed. The food and service is consistently great. Well done for doing such a brilliant job. See you again soon.

Back to the Babbacombe Inn in the afternoon for dinner after a cheesy show at the Babbacombe Theatre opposite. A booth table to take in the glorious views over the terrace and beautiful Babbacombe Downs. Don't be put off by the arrestingly long menu. A very good and generous prawn cocktail and excellent vegetable lasagna. Very reasonably priced New Zealand sav. All helped along by Maddie, cheerful, attentive and engaging. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Lovely place with nice decor, extremely poor and slow service with no apology or accountability. Average food.

We had a Christmas meal with babbcombe inn for our SEN friendship group and it was absolutely amazing , not only was the food incredible even on a busy Sunday , they couldn’t be anymore accommodating for us and all our children’s needs , super polite and attentive , especially our waiter Ashton he was fab . We will be back in the future knowing we have a safe and accommodating place to take our SEN children for a meal together. Thank you

Extensive range of meals and specials. Good value for money. Very friendly and attentive waitress. We had a booth overlooking the front which was prettily lit and would probably have a fabulous sea view on summer evenings.

All day breakfast in a Baguette great value, really tasty and very filling.

Perfect day, booked a booth, so beautiful view, flower's so colourful, Sunday roast all cooked to perfection, waitress really lovely. Good price. No complaints 🤩

Told the waiter that I was allergic to shellfish, his response was ‘don’t order shellfish then!’ I explained it was more serious than that as I couldn’t eat anything cooked in the same oil. His response to that was ‘everything is cooked in the same oil’ This amazed me as almost without exception now restaurants have separate friers for chips, fish, gluten free etc!!! This used to be our go to restaurant whenever we were in Torquay it’s now crossed off our list.

Heard the ads on greatest hits radio so thought we'd give it a try for lunch on my birthday. Initial impressions were good. Although the interior is somewhat dated (with a carpet similar to my nans in the 1960s) we received a warm welcome, were shown to a table and drinks order taken. The menu looked fine and appeared to be good value for money. Unfortunately, despite attempts to catch the eye of staff we waited 30 minutes and nobody came to take our food order. In the end we paid for our drinks and went elsewhere. I'm guessing by how busy they were that it is popular and good value but the wait was a tad too long.

Sunday roast visit. Meat was a little disappointing as its clearly catering sliced meat instead of carved joints. But nice veg and gravy. Staff very good. Price was ok.

We went for Sunday Roast. If you have a small appetite then order a small plate. We were not disappointed but couldnt finish oir meals as we were full and portion sizes are large. A bit of a shame that left food is just binned. Such a waste. Will defo revisit tho the food was amazing x

Reasonable range of beers. Friendly staff. Car parking available. I arrived at about 8.40pm and wanted a meal. Good menu choices, and I went for the cod and chips. Good portion size and very tasty. The price of meals was average. I will eat here again.

Arrived a little early for our meal which wasn't a problem to them, Majority of the staff very friendly. Ordered our meal and it was quick to be served, However my jacket potato with cheese had so much cheese rammed into it there was never a chance for it to melt and the smallest amount of ham ,after taking all the cheese out I finally found the jacket was not very warm and not much butter either. One of the other meals was Cajun sizzler but was very dry any moisture had sizzled away. We did say to a young man serving about it but he never replied ,he asked if everything else was ok and walked away. A shame as it was recommended to me

Disappointed. Rude staff openely complaining about customers. Eye rolling muttering and swearing under their breath. Avoid on a busy saturday, however I wont go back - ever. The tall guy with a beard needs to change career. Waited over an hour for food 3 out of 7 of us were ill the next day

Nice looking place and I wanted to try the place out for a while. I arrived with my family to find the staffed stressed and clearly unable to cope with demand. We persevered and waited. Food was reasonable and so was the price, but I left shocked at the contemptuous behaviour of the staff, openly bad mouthing paying customers at the bar. Fella with beard.

Wholesome food providing good value for money. Very busy showing its popularity among locals and visitors. Need to book to guarantee a table.

Visited for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning. Lovely accommodating staff, despite us being on the cusp of the cut-off time for ordering. Large order handled very quickly. The food was absolutely excellent. Really tasty, good quality produce cooked very well. Great value for money too. Would highly recommend and will visit again.

My type of pub, good food, efficient service, reasonable price and a good quality 70s, 80s, 90s disco later in the evening. Recommended.

Just passing parked up what a find. Staff very friendly and helpful taken to a table set up a tab and ordered food and wine. What can I say steak and the Cajun chicken bottle of pinot fantastic quality and value for money. Found another regular will defo be back

We found this place on the last night of our holiday but wish we had found it sooner. Lovely views, extremely dog friendly, a good choice of reasonably priced food (including gluten free for me) and a very friendly and helpful waitress. We couldn't have asked for more!

Excellent place to eat, brilliant location, overlooking Babacoombe beach. Staff are lovely and friendly.

We have Benn coming here for years and I always recommend to friends, however just had a ploughman's cheese, but it wasn't the best, a few slices of chedder cheese, no blue or brie cheese, nice bread but one butter. The most thinnest slice of apple and I think they changed chip supplier, as they wasn't the usual ones. However I will still go back, especially for breakfast

First time visit, feels a bit Spoonsy but with great food and views. Will go again.

Great lil place good food amazing views and great value for money

Turned up last night with a party of sixteen to celebrate my birthday only to find they had no record of my booking that was witnessed by six of the party at another get together only a few weeks before.

A little annoying to be charged separately for each item. Ordered drink and food paid for up front fine...then asked to see desert menu and for another drink....had to pay for the drink before they would bring out the desert menu and the drinks then a third payment when we chose desert.....surely more sensible to bring menu out...let us choose and pay then....and then deliver the drinks followed by desert. Have had a breakfast here which was nice but nothing special was charged extra for a bit of marmalade for my toast as I don't eat butter so requested no butter at the time, my only other complaint was the price of the breakfast with a cup of tea was quite high compared to other eateries around the bay

Really poor experience. Was told there was up to 40 minutes wait for food which we were fine with. Then we saw tables getting food who had ordered after us. After waiting for an hour i had to find a server to ask where our food was. It came two minutes latercwith a mumbled apology, the sizzlers weren't sizzling and the garlic was cold and crunchy. We were embarrassed as we had brought a friend with us as we usually have great service but not this time. Certainly can't recommend this place to friends and family anymore.

The setting is lovely, beautiful views over the bay. Polite staff however the food was underwhelming. A hair in my food wasn't great experience.

Really lovely meal here tonight on the last night of our hols. Great menu choices and friendly staff. Dog friendly too! We used the QR code to order and pay at our table which was super easy, but couldn’t see any option to leave a tip! A great place, would definitely recommend if you’re visiting the area 😊.

I am 43 years old and try and have a Sunday roast once a week, this roast is in the top 3 I have ever had, only being beaten by so posh restaurants charging twice as much, so really on price this is number 1, I had the farmers roast with all the meats, veg, really nice cauliflower cheese and a sweet cabbage. All the other food the family had was great portions and cooked really well 10/10 all round.

Despite the long menu the food is surprisingly good. All home cooked. Bringing guests we were not disappointed. An early evening meal on the pub's Britain in Bloom award winning terrace complemented by the glorious views over Babbacombe Downs and Lyme Bay. Even the sun was shining. What more could you wish for dear reader? 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Hardly cooked fish and chips which my partner couldnt eat....turned out to be a very expensive salad...my pulled pork burger looked good at first but at a closer look i noticed it was drenched in coleslaw...disgusting. the only reason ive put 1/5 stars is because of the view of the sea....or it would be a 0.

Stumbled across this little gem after a tour of the Kent cavern. Well what can I say, great family atmosphere great service and the food was really lovely and great value for money as well.

We had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch there the other weekend - the food was excellent.

After a long walk I had lunch in this lovely restaurant. Lots of space to eat in and a kids play is in the back. The service even with the busy crowd was perfect and Sam the waitress was absolutely amazing.

A great place across the board, arrived when it was busy & was greeted with a smile & was shown to a table that suited two adults, two children and two dogs. Everything was explained on how to order whether on the app or at the bar. Decided on the bar as was well serviced and it wasn't a long wait until all four meals & sides were delivered. All meals were of good size hot & very tasty & the waitress who had already brought the condiments returned with a spoon & a smile on her face, even bringing 2 treats for the dogs with her. We decided on desserts which were a lot bigger than expected and therefore of good value. Will definitely be returning

Has to be the worse food I have ever tried to eat. Ordered five roast meals for Sunday lunch, all arrived cold, well more cold than warm. Leaks, tasted earthy and gritty, postage’s not really roasted and earthy, stuffing was not cooked with a lump of sausage stuffed in the middle, was cold and gloopy. It really was horrendous! Could not taste the difference between the pork and turkey, gravy thin watery like watered down mud. And the pork crackling, resembled a flat sheet of coloured concrete, but unable to break up. It was vile. Having been in the business for 50 years, I am well aware of what happens to replacement meals, so we paid over a hundred pounds, forked over the meals and left! Would I recommend this establishment for Sunday Lunch…no way. Staff were pleasant and polite. Just the food!

Sat outside with views over the green and out to sea. A nice pint of Guinness and a lasagne with superb fries 🙂

The worse food, I have ever tasted. Ordered 5 Sunday lunches a mix of different roasts. They arrived cold, the stuffing was almost uncooked with a lump of sausage in the middle. The leaks tasted both earthy and gritty! The only thing edible was the Cauliflour cheese. Over £100, plus two rounds of drinks. Total waste of money. Would I Recommend....No, Definitely not ! Staff were helpful and friendly, although we should have complained, have ing worked in hotel and catering all my life, I am fully aware what happens to replacement meals...so we didn’t bother!

After returning two years later the pub and food has greatly improved. Last time it was shocking but things are good now.

Great as always. Busy but the staff can definitely keep on top of things and make sure your time with them is enjoyable.

Seaside hotel restaurant with great cooking and loads of seating options. Prices keen and value good. Service quick and breakfast sizzle options stay hot a long time. Liked it a lot. Staff quick and helpful.

Not busy, but still had to chase a pudding order, rather suspecting staff were on a break,other than that food was top notch.

Very good, excellent food and service. Well worth a visit.

Amazing place and amazing staff very friendly and very clean

Well we booked yesterday by phone for the restaurant to be in a quiet area. We arrived slightly late but rang to say to find no table booked so put in the noisy corner by the toilets and kitchen doors not the restaurant. Didn't make me happy .

The food was lovely, but the chicken fajita skewers were dry . Everything else was perfect, and music was 10/10 . Parking the car park was busy, so we had to park else were which was fine.

Sunday lunch couldn't fault it and the staff were very friendly and helpful and definitely recommend the place

Can’t fault this place, it’s often busy. So maybe best to book a table especially on weekends. But the food is INSANE! The prices are reasonable, I like that you can dine in the restaurant area or there are quieter seating options. Which I prefer. Its also in such a lovely area which is a bonus, you can go for a small walk after to burn some of your food off and take in Babbacombe downs!

Had a lovely dinner here today lovely meal staff etc.
