Inedible , we bought 2 pasties today for Our dinner later as we are touring in our Motorhome locally, we heated them up back at caravan park , but had to throw them out , they were disgusting and inedible.

A lovely looking bakery offering a wide range of hot & cold pastries, sandwiches & drinks plus some delicious looking cakes, I chose a Christmas rum and raisin chocolate truffle then ordered from the friendly lady behind the counter who said that they had come out amazingly well this year, unfortunately when I got back to my hotel room & took a bite I found it far too warm & soggy with absolutely no taste of rum, very disappointing & really wish that I'd of chosen something else.

Absolutely fantastic shop the choices are immense and well laid out .and the staff are probably the best in the town .

Popped in here to get 'breakfast' before going on the steam train to Dartmouth and so glad we did. The window is very inviting and the goods looked delicious so we just had to investigate further! My family ordered sausage rolls but I had to go for the Devon pasty (not the Devon Growler mind because that could feed a small army!). I used to live here, in Paignton, not the bakery, and I have always loved a pasty even though I haven't lived here for years. What I didn't realise though was that I haven't had a true Devon pasty in all that time. As soon as I bit into it, it took me straight back to my youth and the memories of really tasty 'proper' Devon pasties came flooding back. From the filling to the pastry every mouthful was delicious, and now I don't think I can go back to eating the ones I have been over the last couple of decades because now I remember what they are supposed to taste like! Even my kids took a bite (just a small one; it was MY pasty) and they were like "wow". So thank you Halletts for taking me back to my youth and also for ruining other pasties forever!! We also bought cream cakes - it was a large breakfast/lunch/tea - and they were also amazing. BTW do you deliver?? :-)

First thing I must say about this brilliant bakery is how friendly all the staff are!!! So helpful and pleasant all the time and there crusty rolls are the best in Paignton always fresh baked each day 👍👍👍

what can i say about this place, everything I had was top quality food, from sandwiches to cakes and the option of takeaway cream teas was a great thing

Belgian bun - tasted quite nice but there were, literally, about three sultanas in the whole thing. Rubbish! Why is it so hard to get a decent Belgi in Devon..?

A Really nice Shop, Pasties are lovely and the Range of items they sell looks Great.It includes large Pisces of Fruit Cake and also Battenburg ( it was the first time I,d seen Battenburg that was so large) They also sell large Sasuage Rolls that appear to be at least 4 inches long,all in all a really good Baker's

I had a hot Cheese & Onion pasty , and hubby had a hot traditional pasty. Both got lots of filling and nice pastry. Some delicious looking cakes on the counter which I shall be sampling during this weeks holiday as well.

On holiday in Paignton, ate out at lunchtimes and required something for the evening meal. Used the place twice in a week. Had sandwiches, sausage rolls & cake. All excellent and reasonable priced. Friendly staff as well

These pasties are fantastic, We came up on Saturday 25th June 2022 from Cornwall, well worth the trip if only just to stock up on them for the freezer.

The best bakery and the most friendly staff.. great cakes and savories, from a cream tea to take away to lovely japs.. are you man enough or lady enough to try and finish the growler..

Bought 4 of their largest brillpasties omg in all my 63 years I have never tasted a pastie so good crammed with filling and meat my freinds say the same got a order 4 nexst year

Great service, lovely products and Fabolous staff.

We wanted a quick bite and selected some sandwiches. All hand written labels and we expected freshly made and tasty. OH ham roll was just about OK. My sandwich had limited filling and the bread had been left to dry out. Had to throw quite a bit of it away. Not cheap either.

Bought a Bakewell slice and a slice of lemon drizzle (really a lemon sponge with butter cream), but after a couple of bites they eneded up in the bin. Sorry, but they were awful.

Whether it’s the scones with jam & cream, or the vanilla slices there are ooodles to choose from, very nice

Coffee machine switched off so went to Warren's instead

We called in on the way home to bring some Devon Growlers (pasties) and a cream tea home with us. All were amazing.

Short visit to Paignton Town inbetween Steam train ride. So we HAD to pop into Halletts the Bakers for a Devon pasty. We were in for a treat - fabulous pasties full to the brim of Steak, potatoes and onions. Lovely ladies serving us - even double wrapped the cheese and onion pasty🤗 Would thoroughly recommend 👌

Bought two large heated Cornish pasties on Wednesday gave one two my husband to take home & the other to eat on the train to Taunton.All I can say was that mine tasted delicious but within two hours I felt clammy & was violently vomiting. Husband phoned me that night to say he thought he was having a heart attack after feeling clammy & in intense pain & then he started vomiting.

Nice bakery for traditional cakes and pasties. Seemed to be quite popular with the locals too, so that's a good sign. Friendly staff.

Still no improvement to cakes which are delivered to Bovey Tracey co-op. Was buying many treats now buy none. Small tasteless and last lot made my family ill.

Spent lockdown visiting a local which Hallets deliver to...to enjoy Hallets bakery items..Only for the past 3 weeks its been terrible...new staff?..The Belgian buns used to be big with lots of fruit and icing..now there small...overcooked...hardly any fruit or icing...the chelsea buns are too brown...no spice..No taste...Cheese straws have no taste..really disappointing...Myself and my family/friends have all noticed...and stopped buying now as no point...Thought it was a one off to begin with but clearly something has changed?...and its not good!

Excellent staff, manageress as friendly as ever, always has a cheery outlook and is a pleasure to know, even in these unusual times after ‘lockdown’ thank you once again for the fruited scones clotted cream and jam in a takeaway package, they were as good as all those we’ve had in previous years.

We have become addicted to the Belgian buns during lockdown. Theyre Amazing..Best ever!.....Big...fresh...softLots of fruit and icing...Yummmmmm.....We now make special trips to buy these from our local store that Halletts deliver to. Been buying them for a 6wks now and still look forward to the next one...Keep it up Halletts...we love them

Rude owners. I brought my dog in only to be told I wasn't allowed in a very rude manner; there was no sign in the window saying this and I am from Lancashire where it is perfectly acceptable to do this (unless it says otherwise of course).

I was looking for pasties that were delicious and fare priced and found hallets the bakers it's like a secret pastie heaven you must try this p,ace just try the chicken tikka pastie it's not nastie hmmm and the selection of cakes go on .

Went into Paignton shop bought pastie and "cheese straws" felt peckish opened the "cheese straws" They were tasteless and contained a couple of bits of shredded cheese. The pastry had a damp taste, absolutely disgusting threw them away. Lets see what the pasty is like at lunchtime !

Looked for a quick meal and found Hallett's Bakery. They had some amazing pasties for sale. We had traditional ones and had them hot. And they were very hot! Needed to allow them to cool a little before we could eat them.Very good value for money.

The Devon growler was stunning. The selection of delicious cakes and cookies wide and reasonably priced. My favourite: fresh bacon butty :-) my husband adores your scones. lovely service and good opening hours for tourists. Will miss your food.

Lovely good quality food. Everything that I've purchased here had been superb even if its been brought to eat there and then warmed up the next day or even frozen for another time. Popped into this little bakery while in Paignton, delicious pasties and friendly staff. Wish there was a bakery that sold such lovely pasties near me.

Chicken Tikka slice was passable, corned beef pasty was ok. Standard is lower than Greggs but pricing higher.

Staff are very helpful and make you feel welcome.I chose the Growler Pasty. It is enormous.Was on a train journey all day so it lasted Breakfast Lunch and finished it of by 6pm.This pasty is a monster.Pastry was very good and the filling was nice.

I went into Hallets Bakery yesterday with my friend and was greeted by 2 amazing staff Elaine and Amy.. Their customer service was excellent, very friendly and made conversation. To top it off the pasty and homemade roast potatoes were amazing. Will definitely go in again

I recently stayed in Paignton for 2 weeks on business and called in here every day for my lunch. There was a wide range of filled rolls and sandwiches which were very tasty. I also tried the sausage rolls and cheese straws which were very good. However, these were surpassed by the pasties, which were the best that I have ever tasted. All these delicious goods were served by very friendly and helpful staff who always had time for a chat with you. I have no hesitation in recommended this bakers for their excellent produce. Hope to visit again next year and put more weight on!

Always visit here on a trip to paignton. Cakes are all lovely. Afternoon tea to go. And the baby loved the sausage roll.

I nipped in today to get bite to eat.. seen what looked like a open sandwich with bacon.. I asked the young girl behind the counter the price and could I have it warmed up...who seemed very unhelpful who was scratching her arm... she replied the price plus it would cost an extra 25 pence i was disgusted turned round and walked out...

Biggest pasties.. lavish bread.. and the cakes are amazing.. forget supermarkets.. place to go for it all.

Called in whilst in Paignton for a few days to get a take out lunch for the park. They have all you need in here pastries cakes crisps sandwiches drinks the lot. Very friendly helpful patient staff

Great range of lovely cakes and pretty good pastries. Perfect stop if you fancy a picnic on the sea front (cheap &romantic; date too - weather permitting!) also ideal in the summer when everywhere else is busy. Good selection of bottled fizzy drinks and they even do mini packs of cream tea to go! Very friendly service.

We stayed in an apartment in Goodrington Sands and on our way back from Paignton town, we bought cakes for our coffee and enjoyed them sitting on our balcony.

We visit the bakery once a week and buy bread, bread rolls, sausage rolls and must say their sausage rolls are the best in the bay in our opinion. The multi-seed bread is lovely too!

brought the biggest pasty they had, then got home to eat it, just about half, was so full i couldn't move for hours. the other half i ate over the next 2 days at supper time with some brown hp sauce on it, best pasty in Paignton

We use this bakery all the time, the bread and rolls are lovely, the cakes are to die for and are huge and terrific value for money. Hot sausage rolls and pasties, lovey to eat on the beach.

Have to pop in here every time I'm in Paignton town, can't resist the delicious smell of the fresh hot pasties coming from within. The pasties are always nice and hot, fresh, and taste fantastic. A good selection of pastries and cakes to take away.

Hooray, another alternative to white bread for the fussy amongst us. Will try toasted tomorrow. Nailed half a loaf with fresh soup - whoops.

Went to Hallets to get cream teas to take home for ourselves,our son and our neighbour. Scones were nice and light. Can't wait to go back to Paignton to get some more

There's a sign in the window saying gluten-free bread and cakes today. First employee I asked didn't know about gluten-free, the second one said very patronisingly it was available to order and she would explain it. How is that available "today"?

We had a pasty, it tastes lovely, but in our case was not very hot, food was lovely though, their sausage rolls are tasty too, their doughnuts are lovely aswell, prices are reasonable for the town aswell.

My family and I popped into Hallets the Bakers to grab a few things for a lazy tea after spending the day in Paignton and we were glad we did because their pasties are delicious and the Devon Growler must be the biggest pasty in the free world and a snip at only £4 each. The biggest drawback was spending too much money as everything looked fantastic and we had to stop ourselves buying the whole shop full of goodies.

Excellent value. Very helpful staff - I needed advice due to my onion allergy. Sandwiches actually made using butter, rather than mayonnaise. Rarity these days. Lovely cake too.

I use their St Marychurch and Plainmoor cafes and outlets, the food and pastries are delicious and consistent, what to choose??

Fancied a warm sausage roll as we were passing the bakers so we bought 2. Yet again, the sausagemeat used must have been of the lowest grade. The was absolutely no taste whatsoever, not even a hint of seasoning. So combine that with the taste of a thick puff pastry roll and you end up with a taste of nothing. To make matters worse the sausage roll was overcooked. We should have returned at the time and asked for a refund, however we had just left the nearby multi-storey car park so was difficult to return.

Still one of the few independent bakeries in Paignton - but nothing special. Generally a little pricey and the quality of the products varies. Whilst some are decent, I recently had some cheese scones that could only be compared to rocks really, they were so hard. Overall an OK option.

Why buy mediocre bread from a supermarket when you can buy "proper" tasty bread from a good local baker? Great selection of bread rolls too. Pasties are very good. Have never attempted a "Growler" - it's big enough to fill a dinner plate. As a change, the chicken and leek pasty is excellent. A decent filling and the pastry is delicious too!

This is a reasonably decent shop, situated just at the top of "Grockle Alley" (Torbay Road) across the road from the railway station. They have a good range of tasty produce, reasonably priced, and the service is always polite and friendly.

Fantastic cakes excellent pasties especially the growler. You have to see it to believe it. Well worth a visit cannot fault anything
