Me and my friends came to lakeside for dinner. It was fabulous!! The food was fantastic aswell as the atmosphere. The live music was lively and just how we wanted to spend our Friday night. We enjoyed plenty of cocktails and our delicious food. Thank you to all the staff. Our waitress Jenna was also especially welcoming and attentive all throughout the evening. A huge thank you to the Lakeside team

This place was lovely. We had drinks and cream tea. The portions were generous, reasonably priced and tasted great. The chap that served us was also part of kitchen team and spoke with care about the menu as we made our choices. The tea rooms are cosy and comfortable, the staff attentive and relaxed. The perfect example of customer service resulting in an excellent customer experience.

We were staying a very short walk from the pub in a cottage for a visit to the races at Cheltenham. Having already booked our dinner reservation on the Friday some of us who were early arrivals popped in for a drink on the Thursday evening. We were welcomed straight away and did not feel out of place not being locals. When we returned for dinner the following evening we were remembered and welcomed warmly again. Such friendly staff and service, great selection of food on the menu and an extensive wine list! We all enjoyed our meals and had a lovely chat with the staff before leaving. We have booked the cottage for next years festival and we will definitely visit the Black Horse again!

Arrived at lunchtime on a glorious sunny Wednesday. It was disappointing to see a mix of tatty and uncomfortable chairs on the patio. No attention to detail of presentation. There was also paper napkins and cigarette ends around the tables. It looked as though it hadn't been tidied up from the previous night. The loos also needed cleaning and preparing for the day. Unfortunately the beers were not all on due to barrel change issues. That said previously it has been far cleaner and inviting

This used to be a really cosy cafe where you’d get decent quality coffee, cakes and toasties etc. visited today for the first time since before Covid and I’m guessing it must have changed hands. Espresso was undrinkable ( more like filter coffee) and we only ate one mouthful of the cheese ham toastie - anaemic, plastic ham and cheese. Dont like leaving negative reviews but this is more like a transport caf now which is such a shame. Won’t be back.

It was quite obvious that the place was still under renovation, and that was confirmed to us by the lady behind the bar. It was cold, and again she explained that elements of the heating system had been renewed and the switch-on had only just been reactivated. Service was attentive, but sadly, one of the meals was most definitely not up to their normal standard. When this was explained, it was immediately removed from the bill with an offer of an alternative, which was declined. Then water started dripping onto the table, and we moved to another table again, after immediate apologies. On paying the bill, I paid little attention to the detail, but later found, unfortunately, only at home, that an optional 10% service charge had been added. Considering all the foregoing, we found that it was a step too far. On leaving, we thought we might return - sadly, now we shall probably not!

Limited choice but we chose the Chicken on the Crown for 2 which was excellent - tender and moist with hint of thyme and lemon and served with carrots, roasties, kale, beetroot and cauliflower cheese (a meal in itself). The pleasant and efficient service coupled with the country inn environment made for a very enjoyable dining experience. The only blot was being told we would have to pay an extra £1 for some more gravy which we thought was a bit petty.

Visited with my mother for Easter Sunday lunch. Whilst we called only a few days before, Firat and the team kindly managed to squeeze us in on a busy weekend. As always, the service was great. The pub had lovely cosy vibes and our food came quickly. It was delicious and very glad we opted for some extra cauliflower cheese on the side. Looking forward to some beer garden days with the sunshine incoming. Thanks Firat & Team

No bread for sandwiches but said they could do the homemade quiche which was listed as coming with salad and bread. It may as well have come on a side plate, a very small piece of soggy quiche, a pathetic amount of iceberg lettuce with 3 or 4 cherry tomatoes cut into small pieces and half a slice of bread is not a lunch.

This place is brilliant. It serves the best Sunday lunch is=n the most pleasant restaurant and bar. The food is as good as home cooking and the staff are excellent. They cater for food intolerances too and that is better than many other hotels and restaurants. There is a lounge too, with log fire going full blast, ideal for a pre lunch drink or for a coffee after the meal. Can't recommend this place enough!

A hidden gem within the wonderful garden centre. Bob welcomed me in ( having never met me before) When I asked if I could sit on a table for four he looked up and said "of course you may " Even though at that point there was only me. The menu was appealing and all food delicious and fresh , even pizzas were made there in front of you. Before my friends arrived I asked for a glass of wine , non of this what size would you like just a perfectly chilled glass of sauvignon blanc.............scrumptious. The three of us had a varied menu ........pizzas, pancakes ( handmade by Bob ) with maple syrup and bacon.Totally delicious cannot recommend it more highly. When you come out of Decades Tearoom you can collect a box of fresh vegetables from the shop adjacent. Loved it

Very disappointing dinner with friends. The french onion soup was watery with no depth of flavour. Looked as if the onions hadn't been caramelised. It came with cheese on toast served on the side which was rather bizarre but, had they served it correctly with the bread within the soup, the soup would have been soaked up entirely as there was so little of it. And it was lukewarm probably because it was served in a shallow soup bowl which meant such a small amount lost all heat on the journey from kitchen to table. The mains appeared and then disappeared while we were still eating our starters. When they returned, they were stone cold so had to be sent back. When the mains were served again, I would guess the lamb had been cooked from scratch but the pasta and venison pudding seemed to have been reheated. Both were dry. I then ordered affogato for dessert on the basis that no-one could make a mess of that. The icecream came out slightly melted and the jug of coffee was stone cold. Well, to be fair, the jug was warm, the coffee was cold! Not sure how they managed that. I will say that Johann who served us was very apologetic and handled the situation well. We didn't complain. We were staying at the hotel for 24 hours and didn't want to spend that precious time talking to hotel staff instead of each other and since Johann told us he didn't have the power to refund, we decided to just pay and leave.
