What a find, a very quintessential English country pub serving local beers as well as a very stocked back shelf and wine cellar. The welcome is warm and very friendly from the staff and locals alike. Not once did we finish our meals and head home, as we started conversations with the locals and fellow guests, that meant for a very social atmosphere. There is a good lunch menu and a very comprehensive evening menu. I promise you will want to come back to try "something else" off the menu, I know we did and we soon realised that we had to pick either starters & main or main & desert due to the larger portions you receive.

We had a fab evening. Staff really friendly. Food was fantastic. The cheese souffle for strater was absolutely delicious but some crusty bread to mop up the sauce would of been even better. The lamb shank main course was equally as good. Highly recommended

A charming dining experience to match a stunningly scenic town, we were a family of 4 that all found the meal tasty, the drinks thirst-quenching and the service quite hospitable. There's a timeless charm to this place, like you're dining in history aside the mammoth fireplace and amidst art depicting the centuries-old building and it's many uses through the years. This restaurant is split into 3 rooms, one is a live music area and sort of off to the side, one is a main dining area opposite side of the building from the bar and the third is a sit down pub with locals of all ages having a chat while their dogs keep them company. The bar has a wide range of drinks and local beers available, as to be expected in a tied-house. Service was top notch. Friendly, prompt and helpful on suggestions.

This is a beautiful inn in a great location, just 8 mins drive from Bourton on the water. The owners are delightful, attentive and very friendly. We were a group of 8 friends (4 couples) meeting up from various locations. We had 4 rooms for a weekend break. Breakfast was delicious, the evening meals were tasty and plentiful. The dining area and bar were lovely and fresh with a great atmosphere. The rooms were comfortable, exceptionally clean and well serviced. Overall, a great choice for all the Cotswolds has on offer. 😊

We always stop here on the way back from visiting family, and always know exactly what to expect - great service, reliable and warming food, and an ambient, comforting atmosphere (I don't remember the last time I left somewhere after a meal and feeling sad to leave) Reilly (hope I spelt that right) - you are a truly amazing person; the friendliest waiter with the best attitude and service, thank you for an amazing experience. 100% recommend for good and easy food - lots of choice for everyone.

We walked around a went in as we liked the menu options and the food did not let itself down, beautiful prawn sandwiches, milkshakes and tea. The ground floor is in desperate need of modernisation and decorations to make it more inviting, the menu holders looked years old and quite grubby, old fridges standing around and looked generally unloved, otherwise would be 5 stars

Enjoyed a delightful lunch with friends at this friendly, comfortable jewel in Gloucestershire. Lucy made us feel so welcome and nothing disappointed. Locally sourced food - Venison and Merlot pie and Steak & Onion pie were delicious and local beer too. Such a good choice to come here.

No bread for sandwiches but said they could do the homemade quiche which was listed as coming with salad and bread. It may as well have come on a side plate, a very small piece of soggy quiche, a pathetic amount of iceberg lettuce with 3 or 4 cherry tomatoes cut into small pieces and half a slice of bread is not a lunch.

Initially loved the look of this place. Room was fine apart from the toilet. If you flushed it once it would not flush again for at least an hour. Booked dinner with our dog. Seating very tired and stained and so dusty. I ordered sirloin my hubby ordered fish n chips. I did not receive sirloin. I received three ‘slices’ of fatty, tough cheap carvery beef. My veg couldn’t be cut it was so hard. My hubby’s batter had obviously been forgotten it was so overcooked. We hadn’t eaten in over eight hours so he ate his. Mine was inedible. I complained and I was offered a replacement meal. I was too tired as our journey had taken all day. Breakfast was a contrast and lovely. Hubby had full English, I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Lovely. We came to pay. They were aware of the toilet. I was told there was a plumbing problem they were trying to rectify and they said the bill for food was void. Which was fair. Would I return. No.

This reveiew refers to the Restaurant only, as we did not stay at the Hotel. We have come here on a number of occasions over the past few years. The place was fairly full and as we came on the spur of the moment, we did not have a reservation, but after waiting for less than 5 minutes, a table was quickly found. Service was impeccable. The Menu is not very extensive, I would have liked a few more dishes, but we managed to select a decent starter and Main course. Quality and quantity was good too. Altogether a very pleasant experience. We will be back again.
