Teatro in Cotswold

I had the most awful meal. Red snapper which I could not even cut with my knife! I sent it back and waited while my friends ate their meal, when I finally received mine it was dry, over cooked and tasteless. I would not recommend anyone to eat there.

My friend and I booked for a pre-theatre meal as the restaurant is next door to The Barn theatre in Cirencester. We had an excellent meal served by friendly staff in a comfortable bar. The pricing is good for above average fare, the meals are imaginative using fresh produce and are beautifully presented without being ostentatious. I would certainly have no hesitation in eating here again.

Came here for mine and my partners 10th anniversary but also to propose to her. The staff here were perfect, complimentary Prosecco, wishing us a happy anniversary. I have to shout out Aaron, who helped me pull off the proposal perfectly, organised for the pianist to play my partners favourite song and even reserved us a spot right next to the piano after our meal. The night literally couldn’t have gone any better! Now for the food…. Wow is all I can say! Simply amazing. Also the cocktails were pretty damn good too, recommend the Tiki at Teatro. Not a bad word to say about this place, and it’s also pretty reasonably priced too. Thanks again for a perfect night, and Aaron you’re a legend.

Booked for a pre-theatre romantic dinner to celebrate my partner’s birthday. What a lovely restaurant. Attentive but not over fussy service from a lovely team of staff. We had three courses and couldn’t fault anything. Great wine list and we loved the complimentary sparkling water provided. A nice atmosphere too. Great as working opposite and adjacent to the theatre. Will definitely be back. May become our ‘go to’ night out!

We had a fab evening. Staff really friendly. Food was fantastic. The cheese souffle for strater was absolutely delicious but some crusty bread to mop up the sauce would of been even better. The lamb shank main course was equally as good. Highly recommended

The Sunday lunch was good, could have done with extra staff and put the heating on! Will return as it was good value. Good outside space in the garden but too cold to sit out this time of the year.

We had a large group booking for Sunday which was kindly honoured as it was booked a long time ago despite the fact they don't actually open on Sundays anymore, and we had a great time! The food and the drinks were fantastic and the staff were so warm and welcoming, it was great. I would 100% recommend!!

We booked an early pre performance dinner . We sat and had a drink outside before being invited inside ( as booked) to our table . All the staff were very friendly and efficient . We had a 3 course a la carte meal . Every course was excellent . The ambience was relaxed bistro which was perfect for us . We were unhurried and relaxed when we took our seats for the performance . Our advice would be to allow enough time to enjoy the food and atmosphere .

We had a fantastic set menu. Option, food excellently presented and flavoursome. We dined in the bar area as we had our dogs with us. Cannot fault and thoroughly recommend.

Have been to Téatro many times but the food has got more expensive and worse value for money. Had their set menu tonight and it was disappointing to say the least. The wine cost almost as much as the meal. The super good salad consisted of tough leaves and some weirdly un-feta like cheese (not enough of it) with a very oily dressing. The chicken supreme was in a very salty jus with a block of potato and quarter of a lettuce that had been charred. The “baked” Alaska was most definitely NOT baked, it had an horrible cold sponge on the bottom, a dollop of pink ice cream and a blowtorched soapy meringue. To cap it all, they charged us an extra 12.5% service on the 2 for 1 cocktails we had in the bar afterwords! Diabolical and I will not be going again (until I’ve forgotten how bad it was).

Overall a nice meal in pleasant surroundings, but slightly marred by unnecessary 'rules' around the set menu: after we'd looked at both a la carte and set price menus, were told that we both had to order from the set menu - I can't see why and the reason was not explained. Also my daughter had to choose which dessert from the set menu she wanted in advance - again, no obvious reason why this was necessary. Finally when the bill came I was expecting to see a price for 2 set menus - instead each dish was itemised, so I had to check it had been priced correctly ... in fact they'd added 2 extra desserts, which was corrected after I pointed it out. Suggestion: think about how all this comes across to your customer and maybe change your approach/processes. By the way, the cheese souffle was very good with a generous helping of delicious sauce ... unfortunately not very easy to eat with the knife and fork provided - it needed a spoon. Again, a bit more thought from a customer's perspective would have meant I didn't have to ask for one!

Had dinner booked - never been here before, garden looked great aswell as inside. Waiter was friendly and polite. Had red mullet for starter was was yummy. Trout for main - it would have been nicer if everything was so salty and too many potatoes. My other half had the prawn linguine - way too much chilli and it was noodles instead of linguine pasta. We also had 2 alcoholic drinks. I felt like it was way all over priced for what it was. Would have been happy to pay for better food. Would only be back for a drink/cocktails

Easy to book. Efficient & professional welcome. Nice to see free water on offer (still & sparkling). Lots to choose from on the menu. We opted for the twice-baked cheese soufflé & sourdough bread to share. This was absolutely to ‘die for’. We both followed this with the moules et frites. Once again, a well-cooked & ‘full of flavour’ dish. Well-timed by Teatro so that we could nip through to The Barn Theatre for the production. We love this restaurant & will be back soon.

We were having a family Sunday lunch, the staff were very friendly and helpful, made us very welcome. We had the Sunday lunch pork chop and rump of beef, excellent food in lovely surroundings, highly recommend this establishment look forward to our next visit.

This was a gift voucher from my daughter so we had Sunday lunch. Free parking at the car park next to the restaurant on a Sundays. The welcome was warm and the staff were friendly. Tables for 2 and 4 in one area and another room for larger groups. The arancini sharing starter bites were lovely and my beef lunch was superb with lashings of tasty gravy. My partner had the mussels which was a good size and was delicious. The meal was filling so we never tried the sweet menu although it looked tempting so this will be for next time. To top it all when we asked for the bill we were told that they have a 20% off discount on certain days of the week so this made it a perfect lunchtime treat. Thanks to all of the staff and we will be back very soon bringing our friends.

Yum! We ate pre theatre and we were served with plenty of time for an impressive meal. My husband had the Sirloin and I had the Ribeye. Cooked to juicy perfection with the best flavour this side of New Orleans! The garlic butter sauce was dreamy and abundant as was the blue cheese and mushroom sauce and I had no idea sweet potato fries could be more delicious than any others! We shared a stunning chocolate cherry desert which offered flavours I didn't even know existed. Hats off to the chefs! We will be back in a couple weeks, just for the food!

We had our evening meal and breakfast at the Teatro and they were both delicious, piping hot, well presented and the service was excellent. Our waitresses Mikayla and Stacey could do enough for us. We will be going again.

Just had Sunday lunch. We were the 1st into the restaurant at 1 o'clock. Place quite disappointing with zero atmosphere. With the exception of the main bar/restaurant person staff were useless, no attention. Had to ask to be served. Food was very poor quality and cold, served on/in cold dishes/plates. No serving spoons and when asked for apple sauce to go with the roast pork were told they didn't have any. Had to return the food as everything was cold. Would we go back to eat absolutely not, would we recommend absolutely not. Such a shame. The photo is of the replacement meal which was served on hot plates but note the meat, mostly gristle.

I have to say how disappointed we were with this visit. Poor service at top dollar prices. What was described as lamb Tagine but looked more like a piece of lamb with couscous (no apricots, sultanas, spice flavours etc). Kale with the turkey was unable to be cut and the venison was small in portion size. Also a 12.5% service charge was added without prior approval

My wife and I had a wonderful evening at Teatro ahead of going to the Barn theatre next door. The staff were delightful, ambiance lovely and great food too! Probably the most impressive element was that they were very busy, yet they knew we were going to the show next door and our meals including dessert were timed to perfection so we didn’t need to clock watch. Just great, congrats to the whole team

We have previously eaten in Teatro and would not have given such a glowing review. There has been a change of staff and what a difference it has made! The food was beautifully cooked- so thank you to the chef but the service was the main joy! Thank you to Mihaela for her energy and attention. She makes the place fabulous!

Pre theatre meal with our son and daughter in law before watching Chess the musical. Warm welcome as we arrived and shown to our table. The menu was a little different which was pleasing as we eat out reasonably regularly with family and friends around the Cotswold area. We particularly enjoyed the lamb chops and a started called bang bang cauliflower. A lovely atmosphere and the restaurant was full. Its so perfect when you are 30 seconds from table to theatre door! Plus large car park opposite restaurant and theatre is free after 6pm. Staff were attentive, friendly but professional. Highly recommend. We have been before but not for a while and can thoroughly recommend Teatro for a relaxing time with very good food and service with the added bonus of the theatre next door.

Lovely pre-theatre meal. I haven't been to Teatro before so was excited to see what it was like. We had a lovely welcome and the waiters were fantastic. Menu had good choice and I was particularly impressed by the variety of drinks including non alcoholic drinks including mocktails. My friend and I shared a small bites to start- 3 little croquettes- delicious! Then I had the burger and she had the pork belly. Good portions and delicious. Too full for dessert but maybe next time I will chose a lighter main so i can fit in dessert. Loved the restaurant- decor and ambience. Then went next door for a wonderful show in the theatre. All in all a perfect birthday celebration- thank you.

We were in Cirencester for a play at the Barn Theatre. Teatro is connected to the theatre and seemed an obvious place to have a pre theatre dinner. We were not disappointed. Food, ambience, service, all excellent. The restaurant did get busy so our only recommendation would be to get your bill promptly if you have to make a theatre performance. All in all a very pleasant experience.
