This is a beautiful inn in a great location, just 8 mins drive from Bourton on the water. The owners are delightful, attentive and very friendly. We were a group of 8 friends (4 couples) meeting up from various locations. We had 4 rooms for a weekend break. Breakfast was delicious, the evening meals were tasty and plentiful. The dining area and bar were lovely and fresh with a great atmosphere. The rooms were comfortable, exceptionally clean and well serviced. Overall, a great choice for all the Cotswolds has on offer. 😊

Visited the Lamb Inn last week with family. Food was absolutely delicious and we could not compliment the staff more. The new owners both took the time to speak to us and it was so lovely to hear all about the plans they have for this beautiful location. Will be booking in next time we visit for sure; fingers crossed the Tiramisu is still on the menu! YUM.

We stumbled across The Lamb Inn on Saturday whilst enjoying a weekend break in the Cotswolds and are so glad that we did. We ended up spending time talking to the new landlady Kathleen who explained that the pub and restaurant have recently been renovated. The bar and dining areas look wonderful and are tastefully decorated. No doubt about it, the food was absolutely exceptional. I had the Smoked Mackerel Pâté starter which was absolutely delicious. For our mains, my partner and I both went for the Beef Cheek which was perfectly seasoned. Finally, we shared a Tiramisu which was clearly home made and tasted unreal, a perfect end to our meal. We will absolutely be making a return to The Lamb Inn for a Sunday Roast when in the area again. 5 stars.

Popped in for a quick glass of wine and to see how the refurb looked. It’s now light and airy. I met 1 part of the new owners as they are a couple. (Both chefs)…Kathleen, really nice and took the time when clearly busy to say hi and have a chat. Sat in the bar and I’ve got to say… What a pleasant environment. Music was right, laughter and really clean. They seem very organised and what they have achieved in just a few weeks is outstanding. I didn’t eat but the menu looked lovely with lots of English classics and sensibly priced. Dry white ordered and it was perfect chilled. The lady on the bar was really pleasant and I would have liked to have stayed longer. No doubt they all still have a mountain to climb to get it where they want it to be but I would say the view from the top is in sight and it looks beautiful. Looks to me like they have started a mission to create a cotswold place to be! I wish them good luck but I don’t think they need it. To me it’s clear the love and passion will see them succeed!

We stayed in a cottage locally to The Lamb and pre booked in for Sunday lunch. On arrival the bar area was very busy and we waited to be seated. Which the staff were letting us know they had drinks to make and would be with us, We then got shown to a table through to the back which was empty compared to the bar area, we ordered drinks and waited… a while, we had to ask for the drinks, Then we ordered Sunday lunch, This came and compared to the portions in the bar area that everyone else had, (the reason we didn’t order starters) ours were tiny, there was a mix up and they gave my daughter my husbands meal and we only knew when they gave him the children’s portion which was tiny, the landlady was very rude and said “what do you want me to do” all I said was that there was a mix up and my husband couldn’t possibly expect to eat that, She did bring extra food over but she was so rude that it spoilt the meal, I don’t understand why you would run a pub with an attitude like that. They did take the children’s meal off but it wasn’t to do with the money, it was how we was treated, we have eaten in many nice places and haven’t experienced this before, The food however was nice.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a cute cottage. Pub was lovely and food was delicious in the restaurant. Jacob is a character who makes you very welcome and will address you by your name within minutes. Only hang up was the cleanliness of our cottage. It lacked a good dusting of cobwebs, behind furniture, and on areas both high and low. Mould around windows could be dealt with easily and some of the furnishings could do with up-dating. Apart from this, all was lovely.

Lovely pub with outdoor seating. Sunday lunch starter was delicious but main was average. Lamb came in a strange pressed oblong shape and beef was extremely rare. Service was poor, having had to ask the inattentive staff twice if we could order our food and no one returned to see if meal was ok. Doggy bags seemed to be a mystery to the staff. They all appeared to be inexperienced.

THE most welcoming pub we have visited in a while ! The landlord couldn’t do enough for us. With having a small baby and frenchie dog in tow it can sometimes be stressful but we felt instantly relaxed and well looked after. I had a very tasty lamb roast and the hubby enjoyed his pints of extra cold Guinness ! Well worth stumbling across just followed the little brown road sign off the main road - it’s a long road to follow but keep going the pub eventually appears in a cute picturesque Cotswolds village. Thank you again for a fab afternoon ! X

Enjoyed a great lunch today. Friendly bar staff. It wasn't busy so can't say how quickly we received our food was the norm, but it was very quick! I had sausages & mash, hubby had chicken & leak pie with mash. Omg both were absolutely delicious, we both thought they were the best tasting meals out we've had for a long time. Whilst staying at the Lamb Inn, we dined here on our first and final nights in the restaurant. We had our starters and main courses which were delicious, nicely presented and cooked. The prawn cocktails and chilli squid was delicious., and so were the plaice, chicken, and steak and ale pies. The staff was friendly and provided good service. The food service was reasonably quick and we did not have to wait long. We were delighted with the food and service. The Wise-Ones July 2023

Well, where do I start? A very average beer selection, and then it got worse. Very poorly trained waiting staff; noisy, shouting over the dining room and the person behind the bar had zero charisma. The dining room was almost empty at 1500 except for us …….. so why start laying up for breakfast, with chairs pulled noisily across the floor and cutlery etc noisily moved around while we are still eating ? What is really annoying is the food is OK; not great but OK. The small “bowl”, in actuality a deep saucer, of vegetables for 2 was frankly laughable; probably half a carrot, 2 small cauliflower florets, 4 small stems of tender stem broccoli and a tablespoon of cabbage. We when we expressed our surprise we were told it was £3 for an additional portion - bear in mind it is £20 for a Sunday roast - and we then received a large bowl with about 4 times the initial amount !! Sublime to ridiculous. On the plus side my lamb rump was actually well cooked and the pork, while far from great, wasn’t actually too bad except for the crackling, which promised much but delivered very little. Given how good the plethora of local pubs are, this establishment won’t survive long without seriously upping its game. We wouldn’t return, not in a month of Sundays.

Visited the Lamb Inn as a result of the good reviews across many social media platforms. I was really looking forward to a peaceful enjoyable meal with my wife. We were greeted on arrival by some welcoming bar staff, and quickly shown to our reserved table in the ‘restaurant’ section. The food was quickly on our table and we were enjoying the meal, with everything to our satisfaction. We became aware that a lady on our adjoining table had concerns as to the cooking of her chicken dish. We were only aware of this as we were sat next to her and over heard her very discreetly raise her concern with the waitress, who returned her plate to the kitchen. Within a couple of minutes, the manager came bounding out if the kitchen and loudly shouted “who had the chicken” so that all those sat in the restaurant could clear hear. He then loudly and brashly belittled the lady inform of everyone, shouting that the chicken was cooked properly. This Basil Fawlty style of behaviour by the pub manager totally ruined what was supposed to have been a quite evening meal with my wife, so much so we will not be returning. Below is the feedback review left by a member of the ladies party, which I 100% corroborate: ‘The worst experience I have had in a restaurant.....My sister was confronted by what could only be described as a intimidating, loud man (we believe he was the manager, however he didnt introduce himself to us)who wanted the whole restaurant to hear that the chicken my sister had discreetly told the waitress was uncooked, was in fact cooked and that she was wrong. He then exclaimed "so shall i bring the plate back out to you?"My sister was so shocked by his manner and was basically bullied into having it back she said "yes ok". When the plate returned (15 minutes later)the food out been re arranged on the plate, with the piece of uncooked chicken removed. Of course she didnt eat anymore as she was upset , as we all were. It was supposed to be a lovely surprise meal for our friends 50th birthday. This "inn" is over priced and is nothing like its website claims it is. Customer service was shocking and i would not advise anyone to spend thier money there.’

We are local to Great Rissington and we have been visiting for Sunday lunches many times each year for over 6 years. I brought my family of four, two adult and two children (6 and 8) for the same Sunday lunch as a treat last weekend. We sat at a table in the bar and where as the service wasn’t terrible, it was bar service, slow, and lacking in places (bottle of wine was put unopened on table and we weren’t given glasses, drinks order wasn’t right) When we got the bill, it was £160 for 2 courses each and a bottle of wine, including £17 service charge, and they had charged us over £30 for each child’s meal. I didn’t feel comfortable complaining in our local so I paid and left, but I felt gutted that it cost so much. I have since contacted the pub twice telling them how disappointed I am that at this price we cannot justify returning, and I am even more disappointed that I have received no response. We have always taken pleasure in supporting local businesses in the area, especially one so close to home but I now feel that they have priced us out of being able to return, and frankly don’t care either. Gutted.

Trying to do Posh Nosh for a lot of Dosh Went for an evening meal. Menu completely different from their website. Fancier, expensive and inconsistent. On the main courses some plates are a full meal with vegetables and what you’d expect, others are just the meat or fish and you need to order everything else separately. Confusing, unclear and very expensive. The food itself was fine but my duck portion was small with a very small amount of potato. Not much for the price. I realise prices have gone up but I still expect a reasonable sized meal and not to feel hungry when I’ve finished! My son’s burger was a good size with chips, bun and coleslaw. Typical pub food but out of place on the new menu. We did complain and were told they are taking the pub in a new direction! A very uncomfortable exchange. Barman and waitresses lovely.

My daughters gave us a voucher for Christmas and we booked for May. Obviously, we had to rearrange because of the virus. We rebooked this week and it was SO good. It is a beautiful old inn in a picture perfect village. Very friendly lady ( owner?) greeted us on arrival and showed us to our cosy room. All very snug and very, very clean. After unpacking we had a drink in the beer garden - blissful. We then went for a walk around the village. We visited the church where we read about the tragic story of the five Souls brothers who were all killed in the First World War. In the evening we had dinner in the restaurant. Absolutely delicious food and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The breakfasts? Oh, my goodness, perfection on a plate. We had the ' Classic Cotswold' which was sausage, bacon, mushroom, tomato, egg, black pudding and fried bread. We stayed for two nights and I wish we could have stayed for longer. It was a wonderful break and I will definitely return.

I’ve been in two minds about whether to leave a review or not, but I use Tripadvisor so much I think I’d want to know the real deal about a place before I booked.Overall, the Lamb Inn is a nice-looking building from outside and has nice gardens. When we arrived, I noticed a man looking at us as we got out of the car who I later learned was the owner. It felt odd that he just ignored us at the time and went back into the pub given that we were taking our luggage out of the car so obviously weren’t stopping for lunch (it also wasn’t lunchtime when we arrived). I’m not suggesting that he should’ve helped us with our bags, more so that it would have been nice of him to ask if we were staying or to have at least acknowledged us. Even when we went in he didn’t welcome us or seem interested at all. That was very off-putting until he got a lady out to deal with us instead. In terms of the pubs COVID-19 policy, there was hand sanitiser and a one-way system set up which was good. My only comment would be was that the ventilation wasn’t good in the bar at all. Every other place we stayed at in The Cotswolds this week made sure their main doors and windows were open to establish a good through-flow of air whereas I felt quite boxed during dinner and breakfast. At dinner, we noticed the menu we were given was very simple compared to the one that features as a sample on their website. The food was tasty and good, but the presentation of it was simple. The dampener of the evening was that I noticed my husband picking off a very long, wavy dark hair from his evening meal. I was utterly horrified but his response was that it had been baked/cooked with the meal and he just didn’t want to cause a scene. The dessert menu was good though and had a great selection of classic choices. The room we stayed in was nice and not small at all with a good view of the garden. As we would walk up to our room and down for meals/breakfast, we could see the other rooms being cleaned or made-up and they also looked nice as well. We had tea and coffee-making facilities which were also good. The room we were in also had a large TV which was a nice touch. When we went down for breakfast, we waited for a while as no-one served us and my husband had to go off to find someone. A small matter, but I mention it as the previous night it also took a long time for our food to arrive. I usually think food should take approximately 20 mins, give or take, but it took around 35-40! Then there was the hair incident.Breakfast was good and tasty, albeit simple, and the thing that clouded the morning was the appearance of yet another hair (this time on my eggs - photo attached). We didn’t say anything as we just wanted to leave and get going. The final blow to our stay which did seem very cheeky was that when I booked the room the owner said he would give us a discount (around £25), but in final bill, he added VAT to the total which rendered the so-called discount pointless. All prices in this setting (that is booking accommodation and not a business purchasing stationery from a supplier) should clearly have VAT included. All in all, not the end of the world, but I thought I would warn others to ensure that VAT is included in their booking or to expect 20% and service on top! Check their prices so you don’t have any surprises. Finally, the service of the waitresses and the lady who checked us in/out was great. Conclusion: this is an okay place to stay as the building and rooms are nice. Management needs to step up though. Could be so much better.

Really disappointed with the Lamb Inn which we visited tonight. We’re staying in the Cotswolds for just one night to celebrate a special occasion and chose it based on the restaurant menu on their website, which had a broad range of options and sounded lovely. When we arrived and were given the menu it was totally different - only 5/6 starters and 5/6 mains to choose from, with a separate set menu which was similar. When we asked if we were in the right place and showed the online menu, we were told that yes it was the right place and they’ve changed the menu but it hadn’t been updated online. It was hugely disappointing as the new menu is quite limited and uninspiring, yet it was too late for us to find somewhere else to eat at that time on a Saturday night. I ended up choosing the sirloin steak which was overcooked, whilst my husband asked to switch lentils for chips on his dish which they did, but the dish was missing the vegetables that were shown on the menu. We ended up leaving without dessert. Note to restaurant - change your online menu!

Six of us went to the Lamb while staying in Great Rissington for the weekend. It was great to have a good restaurant in walking distance and, overall, we had a good experience. Our reservation was for Saturday night so the resturant was understandably busy and the service a little slow but the staff were friendly and helpful. Most of the food was excellent. We had three of the starters between us and thoroughly enjoyed them. We also chose three of the mains and one (the hake with fishcake) was very good. However, the sweet potato and chickpea curry was seriously underspiced. The potato was white and we did not think it tasted like sweet potato. Our waiter checked with the kitchen and assured us it was. The trio of sausages did not taste very different from each other, mainly becase they were overcooked. The wine list was reasonably priced for a restaurant of this quality. We did not have room for pudding or cheese. To summarise - avoid the sausages and veggie curry and you'll have a good night out!

Wednesday night is £10 for a steak night - until you book it, then it’s £12.50Need to amend their website. Slightly infuriating. Several of us booked in with our cooking preferences pre ordered. The advert shows steaks on wooden chopping boards. I hate those. They can’t be dish washerd. They can’t be bleached. They can’t be sterilised so in my minds ete they can’t be cleaned properly. So we all had good old fashioned plates. The service was impeccable. Water glasses topped up regularly. Sauces and mustards all promptly brought in. The steaks delicious and chips were giant sized and so hot we couldn’t eat for a while. Tomatoes so tasty too. Flat mushrooms. Salad leaves dressed and tasty. Some orderd deserts which looked lovely. I had the hottest latte ever. Took me 10 minutes to sip it. It was a lovely meal and friendly service. I will be coming back for sure. I’m a Local person.

The place was obviously over booked for the capacity of the staff and kitchen. We rang and booked a table for the restaurant, at their request we agreed 7:30. We duly arrived and were seated in the bar surrounded by tables booked for 7:30. Not a good start. We ordered starters which arrived and were delicious so everything looked promising. But it wasn't to be. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our main courses to arrive and then they were tasteless. I had the sea bass fillets, one fillet served on a bed of sauted new potatoes swimming in oil/butter with burnt chorizo, and sun dried tomatoes that seemed to have come straight from a jar on to the plate. Nothing had been seasoned and you couldn't put your own seasoning on as the salt and pepper pots were clogged with damp condiments.

Disappointing evening as several items on the menu were unavailable, the drinks took almost 15mins to arrive (only to be told the Cotswold gin had run out and they didn't know what else was available), the food took well over an hour to arrive, and we were left thirsty after finishing our first round of drinks and no-one (ever) came to take a fresh order. Upon going up to the bar to request some service (and ask where the food was) it was apparent the bar staff were not at all busy but were simply chatting with locals. However, the food was delicious (when we were finally served) but the whole night was let down by the awful service. It transpired the manageress was off duty that night, so I can only hope and assume things run more smoothly when she is there.

We initially tried to get a table on the Friday evening but it was very busy so we booked for Sunday lunch. The food was beautifully presented and so delicious. We were too full after 2 courses so couldn’t manage a dessert but they looked fabulous.

An outstanding find tucked away in the Cotswolds. Built for hobbits mind you, ensure you duck upstairs however it’s well worth it.

Stayed here for one night over the Easter weekend. Stayed in one of the stable rooms, very compact but tastefully decorated and had everything that we needed. Had an evening meal here, food was very good and service excellent. Breakfast was also good. We have stayed here before and coming back for a return visit, we found it just as good as before.

This was our second visit and the food is obviously cooked to a very high standard as we enjoyed the same quality as before. My husband really enjoyed his steak and ale pie. The only thing I would say is that it would be nice if there were some lighter meals on the menu as I struggled to finish my sausage and mash. It's great that they use locally sourced ingredients.

This is a glorious little pub/hotel in the Cotswolds. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. Our room was cozy, clean and decorated in a traditional cottage style. The beds were super comfy, got the best nights sleep in ages. The best thing about this place are the staff! They are a credit to the hospitality industry. They made us feel right at home. I highly recommend the Sunday roast dinner, everything is freshly prepared with local ingredients and the crispiest crackling in the Cotswolds!! I highly recommend this place. It’s so romantic for a weekend getaway.

We stayed in the stables for two nights, and the room was cosy, well equipped, clean and very comfortable. The shower was high tech and held the chosen temperature perfectly. The overall feel of the room and the inn is that a lot of care has gone into the details, which really enhance the pleasure of staying and eating here. The towels are big, soft and plentiful. There are nice biscuits and an abundance of tea and coffee, plus water bottles. The bedding is good quality, the TV is big and has a great picture, and our small room had TEN power points, most of which had USB charging points. The food is excellent and the quantities perfect. For me there’s nothing worse than feeling as if your plate won’t fill you - not so at the Lamb. The vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked, and the gravy with the steak and ale pie was really tasty. It doesn’t feel like they are skimping on portions and the same goes for the desserts. The breakfast is cooked to order and there’s plenty of extras to fill you up - fruit, yoghurts, toast, juices etc. All served in a lovely atmosphere with cloth napkins. The details are what make the difference and they’ve thought about it all here. We’d like to come back! Thank you for a magnificent stay!

We had breakfast and dinner most days and and the food was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Riley. He was great - always happy and smiling and couldn’t do enough to help. He will be a great asset where ever he goes. We would definitely highly recommend.

Stayed in the garden suite, excellent accommodation. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food in the restaurant was of a very high standard. If you have steak also opt for the onion rings, you won't have seen anything like these before. A lovely stay and would definitely consider coming back in the summer.

Complimentary mineral water and tea making facilities . Very comfy bed. We ate in restaurant . Great food , great service generally , however, we ordered a sweet and it never turned up. When we asked were just told with an apology they forgot . We’re not given option of coffee either . ( sweet was left on bill and we had to ask for it to be removed . ) breakfast was very good . Overall very good, I would return and recommend .

We stayed here for one night and both agreed that it was one of the best restaurants we'd been to. The breakfast was superb with an excellent cooked food menu. It's a very quirky place and my only thought was that I should have booked a bigger room as ours was comfortable and adequate but the bathroom was tiny. We're not 'dog' people and luckily there was only one in the bar when we were eating but I would be concerned if there were many. Having said that we would definitely stay again, on the strength of such good food.

After reading the reviews, booked a table for four.Meeting up with family for a Sunday lunch and get together. Husband and daughter ordered the fish, good choice. A lovely piece of cod, they enjoyed there meal. But myself and son in law ordered the chicken, lets say to have one chicken that was not cooked, very pink and inedible.not good. But my son in laws was the same. Chicken is the one food that should be checked by the chief that it is cooked. We were offered another meal, after experiencing under cooked chicken, we declined .

Stayed on Friday in Sherbourn suite and on Sunday in Room 12. On both evenings we received a very warm welcome and the rooms were very well presented ( the suite was extra special and oozed character and had superior bedding and linen).Facilities were really well thought out in both rooms. The food in the evening was exceptionally good as were the breakfasts. Be aware though that room 12 is in the Stable block and abuts a gravelled area and main road which can be a little noisy with smokers congregating outside your door and vehicles on adjacent road. Did not ruin my experience though and would recommend

Had dinner here recently, it was ok, nothing to write home about. It's overpriced. We spent nearly £100 on a three course meal for 2 with 3 drinks each. I'd be happy to pay that if the food was better than average. Cheerful but slow service. I am local but will probably go somewhere else next time.

Visited this evening with 4 friends and my 3 year old and had the most amazing meal ever. I had the lamb duo and Chocolate fondant and couldn't fault it 1 bit. All the other meals were amazing too. Took a while to come out but with the quality - we didn't mind at all. the staff were fantastic with my daughter - lending her some 'night vision goggles' awaiting with her fussy meal choices and even pulling up a chair to make origami. The food does seem high however when you receive your food and the 10* service, it is extremely well priced. I live nearly 2 hours from here but will definitely be travelling back just to visit this place! Also, never left a review here before but felt that this place deserved it!

We met friends for lunch and had a great meal. It's not cheap, but the food is much better than most pubs. Two of us had the steak pie. These are not mass produced pies, bought in and reheated. They are the real item, with lots of meat, good pastry and generous in size. The rump steak and burger were excellent too.

We visited this inn to stay overnight as a treat for my partners birthday. Room 11 is in what looked like an old stable block so is small but lovely and the shower was brilliant. The room looked as if it had recently been decorated and was fresh and very clean. Justine and the rest of the team were superb hosts making us feel as if we had known them for ages. The food was great and the service very attentive. Breakfast was also excellent and the whole experience a delight. We hope to return but if not we would definitely recommend it and if you are visiting from abroad and want to stay near Bourton on the Water then do consider the Lamb as it is a great example of great British hospitality. Some lovely walks around the village too with some quaint English cottages and superb large houses.

Excellent restaurant in a very beautiful hotel where I celebrated my birthday with a a small group of friends. Last year I also enjoyed an evening meal here with my partner. Ambience, service and food were perfect. Apéritifs in the lounge, well-spaced tables in the restaurant, excellent, polite and friendly staff, delicious food and lovely surroundings. By far the best restaurant I have been to in years.

We attended a Wedding at Fosse Manor (in their Hyde Barn). The wedding catering was excellent. It is confusing to read the other reviews here as there was no actual restaurant on site that we could see - just the wedding banquet room and adjoining bar. Breakfast however was not good. Pre-cooked under 3 heat lamps and self-service. The tea was very weak even after adding more tea-bags! The breakfast room was styled like a hostel with long trestle tables for lots of guests to sit together, and was extremely noisy. After a night spent in the terrible accommodation here (for which we have written a separate review) we did not enjoy this experience at all. A shame, as the Wedding catering itself was very well done and managed.
