Stayed at the Horton inn with my children. We had the family room that was spotless and anything we needed wasn’t an issue. Clean tidy, with enough room for three children. Food was amazing. Pork belly started. Wow! Every need was catered too. The personal touches in the room were very welcome and enjoyed. Staff, hard working, attentive and kind. Cannot wait to come back again

We tried this place for the first time yesterday. Fabulous location right on the river and clearly a favourite with dog walkers and ramblers due to the walks alongside the Teign. We had a very nice table indoors overlooking the river. Waited ages for drinks at the bar, then again when waiting to order despite there being at least three waitresses and a virtually empty pub. Apparently two of them were 'just back from University' as if this in some way excused the fact that they very audibly did not appear to know where they were supposed to be taking the food they had already twice carried from the kitchen. We had checked out the menu on the website before we went and were looking forward to the sea bass which is very clearly advertised, so it was a bit disenchanting when there was no sight of it on the physical menu. Our meals were therefore medium cod and chips, Devon ham with a 'brace of eggs' and chips and a ploughman's. The cod was tiny and overcooked. The tartar sauce seemed to have been produced from a bottle. My mother's 'Devon ham' looked as if it had been freshly taken out of a packet; wafer thin, processed, wet and shiny, not 'locally cooked on site' as boasted. The chips were very obviously frozen. My ploughman's had a nice salad, a decent blue cheese and nice, hot bread. Other than that, the cheddar managed to be bland, the brie was rock hard and completely tasteless, the chutney and pickles looked as if they had been served to someone else prior to me and there was a massive amount of a lurid purple something on my plate which I think was coleslaw but which tasted nothing like it. Vile. My mother complained about the ham and was told by the waitress that she would 'find out more from the chef'. She never got back to us. We used the lavatory on leaving which was upstairs, very poky and had urine all over the seat. A really disappointing experience. They have what I would describe as a 'tourist' menu in that they seem to think they can serve up substandard food at inflated prices and get away with it because tourists are transient. Terrible.

We were booked ( a very large family and friends group. Last year,We booked a variety of lodges, caravans and camping. This would have been for the last weekend of September 24. Today , we all got emails cancelling our bookings. Reason given : a Solitice event!!!! What appalling customer service. Offered vouchers for monies paid. Never will consider visiting a ParkDean resort .

Stayed with my little son for one night. Good bits; Great location. Near to car. Comfortable beds. Good lighting. Flatscreen TV. Decent size bedroom and shower room. Good amount of tea & coffee. Appreciated the little dressing table facing the window! Bad bits; The bathroom fan was extremely noisy. The hairdryer was also really noisy...so glad I took my own! The wardrobe stank so we didn't use it. Luckily there were several bathroom door hooks we could use. The shower desperately needed a shower mat as it was slippy. The bedroom smelled of dog food so l'm glad I took a room spray. The big window wasn't double glazed and was drafty. We could hear the outside rabble dispersing late for what seemed like ages! Frustrating as we were so tired after a long drive and a busy day. I thought the £15 fee was too much for one small dog. The next hotel l'm staying at only charges

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.

There seems to be an inability to provide a hot breakfast in this restaurant. The only hot item on our plate was the hash browns , the rest of the meal was luke warm. The prices in this restaurant are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, and yet they think it’s ok to serve cold meals.

Poor quality food. Chips were overcooked and not very tasty. I tasted haddock which was ok. Fish cake was completely tasteless no fish in it just potato covered in batter. I’m at loss how restaurants can serve such poor quality food and think they can get away with it.
