Good local pub with a good quiz on Wednesdays. The pub has a very unique door which is shaped like a barrel.

Lovely looking pub with some great locals, however the beer is so poorly kept it is undrinkable (Timothy Taylor) normally a lovely pint but in this pub undrinkable!! It is a shame because it could be such a great pub but the barmaid who was serving tonight needs to learn some customer service.

Tucked away in a back street near the harbour, the Famous Barrel really has the atmosphere of a traditional pub. Low ceilings, a dark interior, a pub garden with picnic tables and a warm welcome all help to reinforce first impressions of a locals pub where visitors are welcomed. The pint I chose was Dartmoor Jail Ale and it came to me as clear as crystal and with a great colour which says a lot for the way the pub keeps its beer. Seating was comfortable and a world away from the barn-like modern extravagances of plastic, glass and steel. Walls had exposed stone while the front door was actually barrel-shaped. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful with advice on parking, local food outlets and shopping. All in all, an excellent little pub that I used four or five times during my holiday.

Fabulous pub. Good friendly service, great views over looking the Helford Passage.

Worst pasties we have ever had. Grease dripping out of the ends, 1 piece of gristly steak per pasty. Threw them all away after a few bites. Waste of £21.

A regular cod and chips, regular haddock and chips, then gluten free cod and chips. Finding a chip shop that does gluten free food in a separate fryer is. An. Absolute. Godsend! The service was fast and personable, the food was tasty and crispy!
