After visiting Trebah garden ❤ with a group of friends, we found this place just 2 km away. We ate well, good service managed by young guys, they helped us choose from the menu with great courtesy. Excellent fish and chips!

Great service, nice place, good menu

We called for a drink on our way back to Hotel Meudon. The location is excellent, sitting near the waters edge looking over the estuary. The area doesn't have much parking, and the small car park only does a full day tariff The pub is excellent with plenty of indoor and outdoor seeting. There is a good choice of beers and the menu is very interesting and the food looks good.

We ate the best fish and chips. A taxi service for disabled guests to the parking lot was spontaneously offered.

Lovely pub directly on the harbour, good service and good quality food, and didn’t feel excessively busy even during the bank holiday weekend.

On the north shore of the Helford River estuary the pub has great views of the river. The food is good and there's proper ale.

An absolutely amazing waterside pub. It takes a bit of getting to, but it is worth the effort. The outside seating is metres from the water and you can watch the boats come and go, children swimming and paddle board lessons. The food is fish and seafood based and absolutely delicious. We started with a mackerel pate which was full of fresh fish. Mains were the catch of the day (Cornish Hake) with new potatoes and tender stem broccoli. This was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. This was a very busy evening in sunny weather and the staff were excellent really pleasant and helpful. I don't think you could have a better summer evening anywhere else.

Interesting experience. Light lunch mackerel pates and hummus with sourdough bread. . 3 pieces of bread not really enough for what was a really good set of pates and salads... so asked for some additional bread. Got stung 3.50 for 4 pieces which should really have been served with the dish at 12.00 !!

Food, drink and service is excellent but the kitchen closes at 8pm!? With such a beautiful setting why not go until 9 or 10 and make a killing?

Fantastic pub right on the coast with delicious food! The specials were a crowd pleaser for sure.

Shared the humous plate, the mackerel pate, chips and a Sunday with a friend. Although very very busy the food didn’t take long to arrive and was delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly. They serve lunch until 3 which suited us after a walk and swim along the helford river.

Friendly helpful staff. We didn’t have a reservation but a table was cleaned & made available for us. We both ordered the specials. The crispy fish tacos were good, but to be great - the pineapple salsa needed a little sweetness and more of it. The steak sandwich was tasty - steak cooked to perfection. Would recommend. Note: barking dogs and people noise level is high!!

We visited for a few hours mid week after catching the ferry from Helsford. The pub was inviting with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Nice view across the water. The pub opened at midday. Food was expensive but in line with other pubs in the area. And it was really nice food. Staff were friendly, service was quick, and there was a wide selection of drinks at the bar. There is accessible access to the pub (we managed to get the pushchair up a couple of steps) but the baby changing is in the female toilets and no privacy from anyone else using these female toilets.

A great visit overall. Service was wonderful and the food was delicious. Only thing I would say, is the table we were on was very wobbly, but it didn't disturb our meal too much. Otherwise a lovely pub and great food

Always great, superb views over the water, lovely place to sit, chill and chat. We sat under the eaves and had coffee and tea before heading back to Mawnan.

Really enjoy going to the FBI anyway but thought I’d post this review following the really nice evening meal we had. It was excellent for pub food, far exceeding my expectations. I had the day boat catch of the day, the monkfish.

There's a furry regular in there called Burnie and he's an absolute gem.

I counted 6 chickpeas on top - for £17. I live locally and will not be eating here again. It was the same last summer but the food was more expensive and worse this summer season.

Had lunch there recently. Ordered Fish n ' Chips, which was extremely tasty! So, excellent food, and friendly staff. Warmly recommended!

Thanks to Dan, the manager, for rescuing our dining experience. My sister in law was not satisfied with her £24 special of the day fish dish, especially as she enjoyed same dish a few days earlier. Superb place. Highly recommend the roast dinner, especially the cauliflower cheese. Two of us had the veggie option and it had the most delicious stuffing. The beef was generous and cooked well.

Lunch for 4 on Thursday 2nd. Very impressive, atmosphere/decor warm and inviting, food excellent but the service was exceptional. Lovely friendly greeting from the three young ladies serving as we walked in, Jess looked after us and was perfectly happy to make minor adjustment to our food order. Jess is an example of professional, relaxed and friendly service and a credit to the pub.

What a great place to chill out, post coastal path walk, and settle down to a drink and the best chips in Cornwall! You sit, if you’re brave enough, outside, overlooking the Helford Passage and watching the world go by. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They must be pretty tuckered out after a long summer of visitors and locals over the high season. The food came out quickly and was scrumptious. My only suggestion is that there should be more vegetarian options available, as people are changing their dietary preferences. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would recommend trying it for yourself! Our warm thanks to all the staff.

Lovely riverside pub for a pint on Christmas Day.

Whether it’s sitting at the tables outside in the glorious sunshine or cosying inside round the fire, this fabulous pub just works. The service is always superb, the menu is enticing & the food is wonderful. The Ferryboat works hard at being brilliant & it is. Any season, you get the same level of loveliness which is why we’ll come back again & again.

Really good lunch, visited on a quiet weekday, staff were friendly and service good. Lovely pub, been here in the Summer and was so nice to try it in the Winter. Cosy, great food, lovely staff and superb outlook, what more do you need.

We sat outside as had the dog with us. Ordered the special white fish tacos which were lovely. Service was good and staff were attentive. We didn't have to wait. Portion could have been a little bigger as we shared, and there were only two tacos for the whole meal.

Really good Sunday roast - and beautiful spot overlooking the river

We have previously enjoyed sitting outside of this pub eating their normal menu which was tasty. We decided to go for Sunday lunch there today. We had reserved a window table (as I have dexterity problems, and prefer not to have tables close by, as it can be embarrassing if my Parkinsons is bad.) We were directed to an enclosed table, as (the waitress said) other people had also requested a window seat. This was fair enough, especially as she then said the people sitting in the window would be going soon, and her plan was to move us over when they had gone. When a gentleman came to take our drinks order we told him that we would be moving to another table. He was quite abusive and told us that we would not be moved. I said that the previous lady should not have told us this then. He agreed with this but said "if that's what was said" in a very curt tone. I asked if he was calling me a liar, but he did not respond. To cut a long story short the lady came over to us, and said to ignore the gentleman and moved us to the window seat. The meal arrived, with cold carrots, and no Yorkshire pudding. The whole meal was bland and the slice of pork I had, (which was hidden under the cold carrots), could have been hidden under a pea, it was so small! It was certainly not the way we had planned on spending our Anniversary !

100% my most favourite place to be in Cornwall. The view, the food, the service and the drinks, everything is 5 star!

There’s no doubt this is a great spot, and as Cornwall residents we’d definitely have used this pub frequently but for the terrible welcome and service from what we assume is the landlord. Ignored us completely on entering, and ignored us again when he came outside to ‘tidy’. Someone else got a very warm welcome so I can only assume he didn’t like the look of us! Ah well, we’re off for a bite to eat elsewhere - not getting another penny out of us!

Beautiful location, pleasant staff and good service. But the food was very, very average. Sometimes you go to a decent pub or restaurant and you want to eat pretty much anything on the menu. Not here. The food is unimaginative and the choice limited. Prices are ambitious. It’s a shame because it could be a real destination pub.

Great location. We only stayed for drinks but what a view for a pint. Loved watching the ferry and boats moving about. It was an unreal location and view.

British pub food, at its very best! Let alone the fantastic venue, the food was outstanding! The starter dish of Roasted squash on toast is not to be missed. We had mains of Seabass Linguine and fish and chips. Sorry about the photo of the Linguine, which is nearly wholly eaten. Both dishes were really the really above and beyond. Enjoy!

The Ferryboat is a great pub with the most lovely views from the terrace across the Helford Passage. The staff are friendly and efficient The pub itself has been designed obviously around a nautical scene and has an eclectic range of furniture and fittings that compliment building and its location. We ate the haddock tacos and whilst excellently cooked and presented I found the haddock goujon on both incredibly stingy making the dish poor value for money and somewhat detracting from the whole experience. A shame was this an error or heavy cost/margin management....

5 stars for the setting , that’s about it pay to park then terrible choice of food Just fish, fish , fish !!! Or cheese burger . I can’t eat fish , have allergic reaction I bet there’s a vegan or vegetarian/gluten free Alternate Chicken Schnitzel really ? So left without ordering.

Usually a pub at an idyllic location (in a pretty seaside cove) gets away with average food. We found the Ferryboat does excellent versions of the classics. Large portions! Chicken schnitzel was amazing. Service was efficient and friendly. Not rushed though.

Really good service, consistently delivers. Dined here three times during a lovely weeks holiday. Main standout was the service, which was excellent. Polite and attentive waiting staff, who all seem to do a great job. Food was very good, but was saved by the specials. Main menu is limited, but the specials were ace. Good beer, but again a limited and slightly pricey wine list. I’ll not mention the view, as we all know it is one of the finest spots on the Cornish coast: magnificent. Yes, there were a few posh folk there but they did not annoy as others have suggested. Well done.

I dropped in for a pint of cider following a long walk across the coastal path with my dog. I got served really quickly, the staff were friendly, and I managed to find a table outside, which was surprising given how popular this lovely little pub is. I would definitely return again.

More than one visit, to this out of the way waterside pub. It’s a nice spot, staff are great but what pleasantly surprised me was quality of food. The fish with the humble fish n chips is outstanding by any yardstick. Top marks all round.

While visiting the area on holiday we found ourselves here almost everyday. It’s positioned in a quiet and very scenic location that you can enjoy and never get tired of. Perfect for drinks and although we didn’t have dinner here we did enjoy a few light bites from the menu which were all very nice along with the service and locals.

Outstanding location. And the staff were just wonderful. Very friendly and super efficient. Lovely local Cornwall lager and a view across the bay. Car parking a mission, make sure you take the top road to the carpark otherwise you are in for a nightmare down by the water.

Really nice local pub, on a sunny day. Great location beside the estuary, there was live music playing during my visit which built atmosphere. It's busy, so at times there's a drinks collection point. Will return next time in the area

Pub at Helford Passage. Essentially one large room. Clearly a place that thrives on its food sales, and the atmosphere is more restaurant than pub, with most tables booked by 5pm. Some local beers and standard prices. 30 seconds from ferry.

Beautiful location with stunning views! Tricky to get to for some as there is quite a steep incline. But worth it. Friendly staff, great atmosphere.

The welcome from staff was second to none, we didn’t catch our waitress’s name but she was very ppolite and professional. The starter of Mackeral pate and sour dough bread was more than I expected and very tasty. All the ingredients just worked. For main I had the schnitzel which was crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside, paired with new potatoes, roasted were a delight. Will be returning, value for money with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Thank you Ferryboat

Great pub. Right by the water, lots of outdoor seating, friendly staff and lots of room for children and dogs. Excellent new coffee van selling a good range of freshly made coffees along with cakes and pasties. Very helpful lady making the coffees.

Really great and friendly atmosphere together with a stunning location. Food was pretty good and just about a reasonable price. So nice that the kids can play on the beach in full view which keeps them entertained whilst all the adults discuss Au Pairs and cleaners (see review below)😂. Actually didn’t t hear much of those conversations…. We’ve been coming here for over 15 years when in the area and it’s always a hit.

Fabulous hake special, fish & chips to die for, delicious sea food linguine, superb snitzel, all the food was delicious actually - top quality presentation and taste !! The staff were a delight - very friendly & efficient service despite it being VERY BUSY inside & out in the sun. We had the most relaxed and heartwarming experience despite us being a large party ( 15 adults and 6 children). Eat here! It is truly delicious 😋 and welcoming !!!

The food was good, but parts needed more flavour like the tartare sauce and the tarragon dijonnaise sauce. Bit pricey.

Great venue, watching the boats during lunch

Wonderful spot, although tourist central.. It delivered a great evening meal. Very good for looking after our various intolerances. They have a full time gluten free fryer for the fish and chips so no fear of cross contamination.

We've been going to the FBI for many many years. It was owned by the Wright Brothers up until about 5 or 6 years ago approx. Their menu options were very true to Cornish fresh produce of fabulous seafood (always had an amazing crab sandwich on the menu! And the moules mariniere were delicious) and good local meat with very tasty options plus their Sunday roast was a triumph!! Its just a bit disappointing these days. For example, today there was Chicken Schnitzel on the menu - really?? In a Cornish seaside village?! It doesn't seem to have the same down to earth, Cornish offering on the menu or rustic yet smart feel inside now. As locals in the Falmouth area, we still go 'cos you can't argue that the setting is very beautiful, hence the 5 stars for atmosphere, and they do have a good selection of beers. The service was very prompt today too. Just miss the menu from the Wright Brothers days.

Wonderful spot for a summer's evening, or winters night. Never disappoints. Food is really hood now and had the most delicious shell on prawn.

Great shore side venue, Lots of space to sit, outdoors has its own kiosk to order. Thankfully lots of staff so no waiting. I didn't eat as the kitchen closes in the afternoon (website has hours and menu) A great place to spend a day. No parking to mention, use carpark 100m away. Or walk down from the main road.

We spent an awesome weekend in the area and visited the Ferry Boat Inn several times. Charles and all of the staff were brilliant on every occasion, the food was top notch, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the service was faultless. We will definitely go back. Just a shame that it's a 5-6 hour drive each way!

Great restaurant in a beautiful location. The food was delicious. We both had seafood linguine. I had the delicious warmed brownie and ice cream for desert. The staff were lovely.

The view is so relaxing. There is a mixed menu with lots of cornish produce. The mackerel pate was delicious. Drinks are a fair price too. Best service we've had in a while.
