This is a pub that sells drinks not food. I can only comment on a pint of Tribute being £3.35 at weekends and £3.15 on weekdays (dynamic pricing). A great pint at an amazing price being almost £2 cheaper than where I live!! The pub also shows a lot of sport having 5 or more massive TVs dotted about. Always good to find such a venue. A few tables have a good view of the harbour but most don’t There is also a pool table

It has been re-done so well, the interior is one of the most pleasant out of most nightlife/pubs in Falmouth. Fresh and clean and welcoming to dogs. The staff are fabulous, so smiley and even joined in on tonight’s Karaoke!! The vibe is great as it’s locals and a mix of ages which is just great. Love the pool table and darts, the new seating is also great. Prices were: £5.15 for Rattler, £4.35 for one of the lagers, and £5.50 for a double vodka (Smirnoff) and cranberry juice. Also worth a note they have feminine products in the female toilets, deodorant and body spray in the men’s and dog towels, treats and water- really accommodating. Overall a fantastic and welcoming pub with really good prices.

Popped in for a drink and instantly had a feel this place felt more like a social club than a real pub. Was ok for a drink but bar staff seemed more interested in chatting to mates the other side of the bar rather than collecting the countless empty glasses scattered around most of the vacant tables. In the hospitality trade you need to be on the ball with these kind of details. Not amazing but would probably pop in for a drink in the future just out of curiosity if things have improved any.

We visited this pub for lunch and drinks on New Year’s Eve and selected a table with nice waterside view. Then I went to the bar to order lunch and drinks. Unbelievably, I was told that there was no ale available, despite the board outside advertising craft beers. Surely, on New Year’s Eve of all days, you would ensure that beer was available at the bar? We changed our minds and walked out feeling disgruntled. Fortunately, Wetherspoons around the corner had beer and food available and provided us with much needed refreshments after our 3 hour coastpath walk.

Really poor experience. We went with our three kids (and two friends who also have three children). We ordered food and drinks…food took an absolute age, mainly because there was only one member of staff working tirelessly but without support. One of our kids leant across our table to grab a sweet from the far side - cue manager (who had previously left his only staff member to deal with an increasingly busy bar on his own) to jump up and rebuke us for what our child had done. I’m still not clear what crime they had committed by the way, lying across the table? Feet off the floor for a second perhaps? This was quickly followed by by another finger wag from the manager because another of our children performed a couple of rolls on the floor - the area in question was empty - and then carried on and walked back to the table. Now if you don’t want kids in the bar, that’s fine. Say this on entry and don’t take the money. However, if you set yourself up to accept families, you take our money (I wont keep mentioning the wait on food) then you need to accept that kids will be kids. We’d be the first to be all over them if they were running around screaming or being disruptive - they weren’t : six kids for over two hours and the “worst” behaviour was leaning-gate and a forward roll.I also take issue with how the manager handled it in terms of tone, approach etc. First up, as above, he should have let it go but to be quite bullish and pointed about our crimes wasn’t ok. I’d suggest in future that rather than sit and chat with his mum he helps his poor overworked staff and takes a long hard look at what kind of pub he wants to run.Really poor experience.

I visited this pub last night with a group of friends out for a 50th birthday celebration. One of my friends had her drink accidentally pushed into her face, so she and a couple of other friends moved away from the busy area we were stood in to stand in a quieter area. However, unbeknownst to them, they were stood in a forbidden area and so were asked to leave by the manager, in a rude manner so they told me.I spotted them through the window, stood outside in the rain, so went up to the window to indicate to them that we had bought them drinks. While I was doing so, a man put his hand heavily down on my shoulder and barked, "out", at me. This surprised me, so I replied, "what?", and he again barked, "out" at me. Long story short, I was also stood in the forbidden area and the man was the manager.I have no problem with pubs wanting to keep certain areas clear of customers, but I do have a problem with people being rude, and in my opinion this manager was extremely rude and there was no need - a simple explanation would have been quicker in the long run and wouldn't have lost him customers.

An impromptu visit to escape Christmas shopping in the rain! We were given a warm welcome by staff and the abundance of Christmas lights added to the cosy atmosphere. Conveniently located in the centre of Falmouth, yet also from its rear terrace the pub offers a panoramic view of the river Fal estuary. The staff were welcoming and customer responsive, and a wide range of real ales, ciders, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages is available. The pub grub is served in generous portions, and is palatable. There is scope for improvement in its presentation on the plate.

£16 for the "special" seafood pasta with 3 prawns like rubber, too much pasta and not enough sauce accompanied by three sad uncooked corgette shavings. Very disappointing. The Macaroni cheese my husband had was edible, but at £12 we were expecting something much better.

My husband and I visited here for fish and chips one evening. We both ordered the fish, chips and peas. The staff were polite and the food arrived quickly however, we did not expect the food to arrive in plastic bowls lined with fake newspaper which made it difficult to cut the fish and ended up ripping due to the grease. The fish was nice but there were only a handful of chips and the peas were the proverbial bullets. We would not go again.

Well just look at the picture, fish and chips in a plastic plate, the chips were obviously oven ready frozen ones, the fish was tasty but that was about it. The cost was £12.50 for something you can get in wetherspoons for £7 not worth the money. If you are in Falmouth go somewhere else

Don't be fooled by the robust and traditional exterior. Within lies incompetence, blame culture and utter contempt for customers that have even the most meagre expectations. The staff proved incapable of taking a food order but excelled in accusing patrons of not knowing what they ordered despite repeating the order three times. Contracting malaria was genuinely more enjoyable than visiting here. I want to point out that I did not get malaria here, and I doubt I ever could. That would require some degree of efficiency.

We spent a couple of days down in Falmouth and really enjoyed our time there apart from when we came here to eat. We noticed that getting a restaurant booking in Falmouth was tough going due to the holiday season, but after trying a number of restaurants we were happy that The Grapes had a table for us, sadly thats where our happiness ended. The service was really poor, we were shown to our table and then bascially forgotten about, we wasn't given any menus or asked if we would like any drinks until we decided to find the staff ourselves, this should of been a red flag for us, but given the hassle in finding a place to eat we decided to stay.Once we ordered the food this then took an age to arrive, which surprised us as the restaurant wasn't busy and we all had prawn linguines and this isn't that diffitcult to cook, the food was bland, under seasoned and came out on what i can only describe as plates you would eat off in prison! Noone asked us if the food was ok or if we needed anything else, which seemed strange given that they knew we wasn't happy with been forgotten about earlier on, a good member of staff would have been trying to make up for earlier. After the meal we left straight away, timing for us is really important as we had a 9 month old baby with us, so we need to eat in good time, but that wasn't why we left, the whole experience was terrible and we just wanted out of there. Thankfully we had half of our bill refunded.Service is king and all basic levels of food and drink service were forgotten here. The staff either need to be given more training or replaced, because this isn't good enough for paying customers and over time this will kill your business.

Walked in with my family and in laws, and were warmly greeted by a lovely young lady who promptly asked me if I was exempt from wearing a mask or just had a problem ??? I was literally six feet from the front door and barely even entered the place !!! (apparently some of the staff have underlying health conditions ? Apart from the barman who didn’t have a mask on but was pouring everyone’s drinks ???)This basically set the tone for what I can only describe as the worst meal we’ve collectively eaten EVER.Fish and chips served in a plastic (yes honestly) basket lined with grease proof paper, which means all of the grease/oil from the fish just sits there Skin on chips, sorry I mean potatoes because it needs to be cooked to be a chip ,toasties served with stale crisps etc etc.Best of all you pay upfront for your food and drinks so even if it’s garbage which it clearly is,you’ve got next to no chance of any refund.Do yourself a favour and just eat somewhere else, there’s loads of better places just walk past and find somewhere else.

Beautiful place, so my partner and I popped in for what we thought would be a nice quick drink en route to dinner. However when entered (without any notice outside) we were greeted with 'Where's your masks'My partner is exempted and I after the 19th choose not to wear one. We were ordered out. And then shouted at across the bar by the appalling woman worker who has obviously taken to the pandemic like a cult follower.'PEOPLE STILL DIE' was shouted as we left and was heard from outside. So imagine what the customers inside had felt. The bizzare thing is that it's a small place, you don't have to wear masks sitting down, we was next to a table but because we didn't have masks to sit down we were refused service. This and the fact its now past the 19tb of July.I'm taking this as discrimination. And the bar will be in touch.

Visited at about 2pm and it was incredibly quiet - not a good sign. No wonder - the food was utterly dreadful. Bland and served in a red plastic bucket and enamel ‘dog’ bowls. Small menu and small portions. Poor presentation. Total waste of money. What a shame as we normally visit when on holiday and it has gone completely downhill. Food delivered to the table and then we had to wait for a few minutes for the cutlery to be delivered. Waitress was very pleasant and offered to refund my dish but the refund has not gone through. I’d probably agree with majority of recent reviews for the grapes. We managed to get a table here after escaping the rain. We stood waiting for about 10mins before we were noticed and were shown to a table. The 2 out of 5 is for the waiting staff who on 3 seperate occasions, by 3 different staff, we were asked if we were ready to order, literally within 2 mins of being sat.Keen, and polite. We had lasagne and garlic bread, and a fish and chips.Garlic bread was a halved baguette with half a jar of chopped garlic on top. You could smell it from the kitchen. It burned my mouth just taking a bite. The lasagne was over cooked compared to the under cooked chips. Or soggy potatoe sticks. Which ever you want to call them. It was a pretty naff meal but we had to laugh after getting caught in torrential rain we didn’t think it could worse, but it did. I imagine though that when there’s entertainment or football on tv it’s probably a raucous atmosphere and not a bad place to be 5pints in.

After reading the negative recent reviews we were hesitant. However as we were reading the menu a chap started talking to us - we later discovered he was a waiter - and in we went. It was clear that covid / furlough/ staff shortages have badly affected the sector but the staff were attentive and welcoming. There were issues with the electronic ordering but we were kept informed and the food was typical of decent plentiful hot pub grub served with a smile. The puddings were great too and the staff were really cheery and friendly. What let it down were the toilets which weren't terribly clean - tho that says more about the customers than the staff.

Omg... the worst experience I have ever had... our first night in Cornwall falmouth to be exact and I have never experienced someone so rude as the waitress in charge tonight... we had a reservation and asked at time of booking to be seated near to tv for the football. We turned up waited to be seen and seated after 10 to 15 min of all staff walking past us a nice young lad asked if we had a reservation. We said yes and he seated us. After ordering our drinks some lady put a bit of paper on our table and it had reserved for 7pm on it. We called the rude lady to say we had a reservation she then tried to move us to a table right out of the way where you couldn't see the screen. We explained that we had already booked and ordered our drinks and food and dining think it was fair that she was trying to reseat us in a corner behind a big post. To which she then blatantly said well if u don't like it you can leave. Well gobsmacked is an understatement.. we couldn't understand why we had to move and why they could not seat someone else there we were settled and waiting for our food.. she is extremely rude and considering this is a seaside town and people coming to Cornwall or falmouth are tourists as such I think it was absolutely disgusting at her attitude towards her customers and feel she needs to gain some serious customer service skills... if u want to be spoken to so disgusting then this is ya place to go.. I wouldn't even bother giving it any stars if I had my way....

Possibly the worst meal of the year.My husband burger and our boys chicken nuggets were ok. However the fish and chips were just awful. So much grease on and in the fish that it had sunk into the chips congealing them, sticking them to each other and the paper below. In fact there were areas where it pooled. The food was inedible, even the fish inside the batter had been affected. When I explained this to the barman after I called him over before we left, said that he would tell them in the kitchen so that it didn't happen again. No attempt to put it right. So this left an additional sour taste in our mouths! This pub could be lovely, the ambience was great and we liked the music, but we will never attempt to eat there again.

Visited ‘The Grapes’ last summer and had great fish’n’chips. Returned today....very disappointing. Staff were friendly and CV info was ok, but the food was poor. Will try somewhere else next time.

This pub is a lovely place to sit and have a meal or drinks. With lovely views of the docks, the pub as a great atmosphere and the staff are so friendly.

This pub offers a range of places to sit, and at present there is a large outside area. Covid precautions are obvious and well done. Ordering food and drink was very easy, done in person at the till. The crab sandwiches were very nice, but expensive if you are not on a Eat out to Help out deal. Excellent drought cider.

Nice looking pub, with lovely view onto the sea. The staff is friendly and helpful. They also offer a small range of food for a reasonable price.

We decided to stop off here and have a drink and some food. When we entered, we were confused by the one way system they have in place. It is not very clear that you have to enter, go around a central partition and then back round to the bar to order food and drink. We noticed the menus were printed on paper which was disposed off (probably only because I asked if they were disposed of) after we ordered. As we waited for our food, we noticed the place had undergone a bit of a revamp during lockdown and it seemed cleaner than other times we have visited. However, I was appalled when our food arrived. There was no knife and fork with the food and when I asked if we could get some, we were directed to two tupperware boxes to the bottom of the bar. One contained knifes, the other forks. I would hate to guess how many hands have been in there and felt sick at the prospect of having to take them out. Fortunately, I carry anti-bacterial wipes with me so after carefully taking out two knives and two forks, I ensured both were cleaned thoroughly with the wipes as well as sanitising my hands. I didn't want to touch the sachets of sauces or vinegar that they also had placed out so anyone could smear their hands over them. To say I lost my appetite is an understatement. I was also aware of the loud music being played which meant people had to sit closer to each other to hear what was being said. Not good when you are supposed to be socially distancing. On that note, the benches and tables by the window at the back were so close together, if you dared sit on them, you would not be able to socially distance. Seems this place hasn't bothered to check what is acceptable and what isn't. I for one will never go back to this place again. Even now, I feel sick.

After wandering around Falmouth we ended up in The Grapes, my husband had the steak medium rare and I had the crab burger. We weren't given a steak knife and actually there was no need the steak was perfectly cooked and cut with an ordinary knife. My crab burger was well presented and very tasty. It took a little while for the food to be cooked but worth the wait - delicious.

Pouring with rain so popped in for lunch. A few others in which was nice rather than packed out. Ordered the ploughman's but swopped the ham for brie which wasn't a problem, it was freshly prepared and so filling. My husband had the haddock and chips and again was fresh, tasty & hot. Only 1 girl serving behind bar and food but was very capable and friendly. Served local ales and ciders.

Myself and a friend popped in the grapes as we were looking for somewhere to have a coffee. We sat down at a harbour view and gathered a few games to play. Lots of different games to offer. We ordered two coffees and it did take about 15 minutes to get to us however we were to engaged with the games to worry. Sat behind us were a table of four people who were having a roast dinner and it looked AMAZING. My friend and I had roast jealously so had to order one, this came within 10 minutes and was beautiful!!!

We popped in at lunchtime and the pub was practically empty. We had two Diet Cokes that were served out of a three quarter empty bottle and was flat: great value at £2 a glass for half a pint! We ordered two soups and a toasted sandwich. The soup eventually arrived cold thirty minutes later and we asked where the second soup was! This took another fifteen minutes to arrive with the now warmed up original bowl of soup! Will not be going back and would advise others to avoid. We now know why it was practically empty! Very disappointing!

Nice view if you can get a window seat and it has a pretty good atmosphere. The food is pretty good, but the service is a bit hit-or-miss, whether you want to eat or are just trying to get a drink.

Went with a friend for lunch. The bar was roomy with lots of tables to choose from with plenty of areas were you could see the sea. My friend chose a child's meal as she has a small appetite and she enjoyed it. I had the vegan mushroom risotto which was huge with lots of mushrooms and was lovely. The staff were friendly and efficient and our meals arrived quickly. Well worth a visit and one entrance has no steps, which is a bonus for the disabled.

Two of us had lunch at The Grapes, choosing it for its promising specials menu and harbour view. However, when our food arrived it was not of the quality we’d hoped for. We’d both ordered fish, as in Falmouth it should be fresh. The lemon sole fillets were the smallest we’d ever seen, and rather dry. The sea bass was somewhat better, but not outstanding. We suspected that both might have been from the freezer. They were accompanied by a large quantity of plain boiled potatoes and a rather dull salad. It was not a cheap meal, and very poor value for money.

Called in for a quick sandwich lunch on our last day in Cornwall. We chose a table by the window to take advantage of the cracking view over the harbour and went to the bar to order our drinks and food. We didn't have long to wait before two huge doorstop sandwiches were brought over to us. They were well presented, full of the requested filling and tasted delicious. Hope the young lady who served us recovers from her broken bones and can get back on her horse again soon!

They informed me that as i ate the scampi they would only refund the chips. Nothing else was offered apart from an apology.

We came for lunch on a not particularly busy Saturday. The sign said there may be a 30 minute wait due to the high volumme (sic) of orders. We were happy to wait so we ordered. And wait we did. After over 50 minutes and having seen 3 tables who ordered well after us receive their food we asked for a refund. The lovely girl behind the bar proceeded to sort this whilst an elder gentleman (Manager? Owner? Who knows?) quizzed her as to what the problem was. Unfortunately he couldn’t be bothered to address us, merely mumbling that “good steak takes time” - I nearly asked whether they’d gone to a nearby field to procure the cow for me! He also muttered something about wasting food which I’m afraid to say was not my problem. At this point the kitchen rang to say it was ready but there was absolutely no way that this establishment was getting another penny from us, so we left (to another mumbling of “they’ll just have to wait in a different place.” ) We did - for 20 minutes, in a restaurant with courteous staff who are obviously schooled in customer service, as well as common decency. I wish I’d read the reviews first, as a long wait seems to be the norm here but having seen them I’m now quite thankful we didn’t hang around to try the food! Luckily there is a wealth of places to eat in Falmouth so, if you value prompt, efficient and courteous customer service, I strongly suggest you vote with your feet and try one of them instead.

The Grapes is convenient for shopping as it’s in the street in front of the waterfront. It was 2.05 pm when we went there for lunch and only about 20% of the tables were occupied. Ordered fish and chips and lentil soup - and they had gluten free bread which was a nice surprise. While we waited at our table husband had a pint of cider and I had an americano coffee - very small cup indeed but the milk in the accompanying jug was hot. Bar man said he didn’t drink when asked to recommend a dry cider, I think he should still know his products. 3pm came and we still had no food. I don’t think 55 minutes is an acceptable wait, especially as the place was pretty empty. We asked where our order was after 40 minutes and were told the bar staff would ring down to the kitchen but no update came. Just as we were about to ask for a refund the food arrived. Husband said fish and chips were really tasty. My lentil soup was ok but I only had one small pat of butter for 2 large slices of bread. Couldn’t make it cover both. Everything was hot but the long wait made us both grumpy as we only had one day to see Falmouth and didn’t want to spend it waiting for lunch!

Nice little pub over looking the Bay, food was good the fish and chips was huge. The mussels tasted great the only down side was the onion rings and garlic bread didn't have much flavour. The onion rings where very oily and the garlic bread didn't taste much like garlic and was over cooked however you can't take away this from the main meal which was very good and tasty.

After visiting this pub on our last visit to Cornwall two years ago, we couldn’t wait to find it again. We love it here. The chefs are gluten intolerant we were told so almost everything could be made gluten free. The kids had gf fish (lovely and crunchy batter) , chicken strips also lovely. We tried gf squid starter and the halloumi plus the grapes burger (gf), mushroom risotto & crab sandwich. All lovely and full of flavour. Only “negative” comments were a little more moisture in risotto needed although it was packed with flavour and more crab in the sandwich wouldn’t have been a bad thing. All in all a top lunch with great service from all the staff and lovely drinks available. Would visit again definitely.

We went here on a wet Friday in September. The wait time to order food and drinks was far too long, more staff required. We waited 50 minutes for food when they said it was a 30 minute wait. The ploughmans has what looked like half a slice on packet cheese on and a mini pork pie, had to send the pasta back to be warmed us and sandwiches were mainly bread. No positives, not even the advertised view as it actually looks on to the car park.

We stopped here and had a range of meals from fish and chips to salad. The food was all very nice with zero complaints. The fish was very fresh and the batter nice and light with minimal grease. I had a child’s portion of fish gougons and chips which were extremely nice and perfect for a smaller dish. Reasonable price and a nice setting with a good view over the harbour.

Our roast came, I had lamb my partner had beef. The meals had obviously been microwaved. They were lukewarm and the potatoes were obviously frozen potatoes that had been cooked then warmed up in the microwave resulting in a hard crispy outside which were hard to cut and nothing on the inside. I asked for mint sauce and a jar was banged on the table with only a little in the bottom. This along with 2 drinks cost us £35.00 when I complained we were offered a drink each. I'll never waste my money in there again. It would have been the same meal if I'd gone to a local supermarket and bought a microwave meal. I live locally and am horrified to think that visitors to our area are served such second rate food. Shame on you!!!!

This pub has such amazing views and so much potential, we stopped in a very quiet pub on a Sunday afternoon for a drink and snack after a walk but were very quickly ready to go. We were pounced on at the door asking what we wanted, then despite the pub being nearly deserted were told to sit by a table of two families with noisy toddlers. We were then told that we couldn't order with the staff at the table despite there being a number of them or at the bar where there were more staff despite them clearly having multiple tills. We had to order on our phones or on the mcdonalds kiosks. All very odd, like some sort of covid hangover where the owner has decided that they would prefer to not have to speak to the customers, had my children not been so thirsty and tired i would have taken the family elsewhere. The qr code we had to scan wasn't printed properly so that took as while, there is no phone reception so you have to join their wifi which is slow. After registering for their website trying to navigate the order webpage takes time as it hasn't been very well designed or mobile optimised, clunky and again slow. After about 15 minutes i managed to place an order on my phone. A few minutes later before the drinks came a bowl of reheated £5 chips and a handful of sauce sachets, after a few more minutes some tiny cups of tea in glass mugs and some £4 kids drinks. No check back, no upselling, nothing, we would have spent more had it not been so painful. The older generation wont cope with all of this for a cup of tea. Busy carpark but no apparent customers, i should imagine full of tourists in season, this place would stand no chance without the views or against some competition. I honestly don’t remember when i last felt so uncomfortable in a pub, a great example of rip off Cornwall.

Visited with hubby a while back and was really put off with going in, immediate sense of a hostile environment and didn't want to be served by a manager who slanders their employees. Walked by recently to find new management had taken over and the place has been on the up. Friendly staff, good food, and happy to visit any day of the week
