Impromptu lunch this Saturday with my daughter and dog. Lovely welcome, discussed some of the beers/ciders, let us sample some. Sat us down by the lovely warm fire and took our orders. Both had the masses to start, a large bowl of delicious meaty mussels in a fantastic wine and cream sauce! Had the long horn steak for mains, cooked to perfection with large bowl of chips, mushroom, tomatoes and salad. What a feast! Atmosphere of pubs was lovely very cosy.

We have recently attended two Sunday carveries under the new management. Our first experience was the trial carvery day and the second was two weeks later. We enjoyed the first carvery (the meat and potatoes being particularly good), but some of the vegetables on that occasion weren't so good. However, our second carvery food experience was markedly better. The turkey, beef and gammon joints were all well-cooked, the meats were succulent and tender and the portions generous. On the second occasion, the vegetables were also well cooked and there was a good selection. The staff are friendly and pleasant, but the ‘front of house’ could be better organised, although to be fair one member of staff said that they were trying different “meet and greet” options on the day. Hopefully this will also improve as experience is gained. After seeing very mixed reviews since the pub changed hands earlier this year, it is great to see a good carvery returning to the village. Give it a try and help support your local pub. We will definitely be back.

Visited Merry Harriers restaurant and was greeted with a friendly welcome by Barbara, and our order was taken by a very helpful Adam. We enjoyed three delicious hot chocolates with all the extras, made by the lovely Sarah! We will definitely visit again and hopefully have a carvery which has been highly recommended!

Had breakfast here on our last day of our holiday. We were the first ones in at 9am (we have small children who were up early!) and the food still came out of the food warmers barely even Luke warm. The sausages were hard like they had been cooked the previous day and then trying to warm them up. Bacon seemed like it had been sat there a long time. Toast, barely toasted, mushroom cold. Overall definitely won’t be eating there again. Such a shame.

Lovely large portions as usual! I always have the Fish fries with chips and salad, and I managed all 3 courses! However, the Service was not there , no one came to ask us how everything was. With myself working in Luxury Hospitality it is very important to check to see if customers would like to order anything else or ask for sauces/cutlery etc…. Because this can also give opportunities to increase service revenue for the business and make everyone feel special and welcomed . I will be returning before I go back to work as it will be the last meal I will have in that lovely building.

Do not stay here if you're a female traveller staying alone. I was looking forward to my stay at the end of a work trip to spend a further night meeting a local friend for dinner. Upon check in I was told that the heating had been turned on in my room, which I understand as fully appreciate heating costs, but the room was absolutely freezing. Towards the end of the staff member showing me to my room, she said that no staff stay on site at night and the pub closes at 10.30pm so you will need a key to access the pub. I thought this was strange so asked if anyone else was staying. I was told a man in the room next door. I was running late to meet my friend so during my car journey I reflected on what the staff member said and did not feel at all comfortable staying alone with a male guest. Anything could have happened. Staff not being present on site was not told to me upon booking. After the meal with my friend I returned to the Lamb Inn to explain my situation to the staff member and went to collect my belongings as I didn't feel comfortable staying. She agreed with my situation yet the Lamb Inn are refusing to give me a refund via expedia. I am£70 out of pocket as I then went to stay at a Premier Inn where I felt safe. Shame, I was really looking forward to my stay here. To the owners, do not promote your business as a hotel if you do not have the capability to run it like one!
