I can firmly say that I was pleasantly surprised by our meal here. I am not traditionally one for fine dining but this was an exception as all food places in the area were closed at time (out of season). We couldn’t order any food to the hotel either. So we had food downstairs in the highly promoted Irenas. It was about £20 or so a meal which isn’t outrageous but higher than what I would normally pay for the quantity. WOW, my chicken curry was by far the nicest I have ever tasted. If I could have that every day I most certainly would. The service was brilliant and the setting was extremely calm. I 100% advise anyone who stays in the hotel to give it a go!

One to avoid, we were here for 3 days, unfortunately over Christmas so alternative places to eat were not readily available, the first day we had the afternoon tea, for three of us it came to £75.00 and we were given pretty much what is shown on the leaflet (see photos). Each person had the equivalent of 2 slices of cheap white bread, 4 small cakes, a scone and a mince pie and a cup of coffee. Value for money? Absolutely not! We also had two evening meals, the first of which comprised the soup, the taste of which was akin to opening a can of plum tomatoes, blending it, adding a little too much salt, and some black pepper and voila. This was followed by sirloin steak. Which on the menu has “medium” next to it, now it was a concern when we weren’t asked how we would like it cooked, so we assumed it was medium or nothing, however upon arrival and attempting to cut into it, medium must refer to the hardness of it, it was inedible, the mashed potato tasted like it had been cooked a week ago and left to keep warm, so didn’t eat any of it, upon the waitress collecting the plate, you would expect to be asked if your meal was ok, but not a word, maybe they are used to people not eating the trash that is served up. Breakfast was equally bad, 5 small tinned mushrooms, an overcooked rasher of bacon, a chewy sausage, an overdone egg, a soggy hash brown and your standard catering baked beans. Finally Christmas Day dinner, at £85 you would expect a festive feast, I’m too depressed to go into the details, but review the photos, and no, I hadn’t eaten half of it when I took the photo.

Probably the worst place we have ever eaten. When you consider we eat out half our lives due to workload, we have plenty of experience to benchmark accordingly, from Country pubs to Michelin stared. Even when you leave all three courses untouched, they do not question it!! Must be used to people leaving their food. Anywhere else would have asked if there was a problem. It’s like a scene from “Stepford Wife’s” in that restaurant! Appearance of food is good, however this is not mirrored by taste or quality. We were left gobsmacked at the Christmas meal, three small roast potatoes, four soggy and yet hard sprouts, 5 thin carrots, a small dog paw sized dobble of Turkey, 7 ultra thin parsnip slips. Enough for my cat! Shocking and not even nice. Quick service tho - fast food quick 🫣

Awful cooked breakfast and certainly not worth the £31 for the two of us. There was the cold buffet which looked ok but we decided to only have the cooked breakfast as we wouldnt manage to eat both - maybe thats our fault. But regardless the cooked breakfast was very disappointing, the bacon was hard and very very overcooked as was the hashbrowns - I am guessing that all the food was pre cooked and just kept warm either under a hot plate or in an oven. Needless to say we left most of it and for the following mornings we ate at King Arthurs Cafe in the village - great staff and great food. On a positive note we did eat dinner there and it was very good so maybe just different staff and skills ! The evening waitress we had was friendly and efficient but again the breakfast waitiress didnt even raise a smile or welcome.

The view from the dining room is spectacular! The bread and butter was delicious! The rest of the meal, appetizers and entrees, was bland. Boring. The interior which might have been quite nice if it weren’t for the appalling glitter encrusted paintings and the glitter tree. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Tintagel and the view is spectacular.

This is a very grand looking dining room and bar in the hotel. That said it is a welcoming and very comfortable place with helpful and friendly staff. The menu may be a little limited but what they serve is very good. we had soup very tasty and fresh followed by a sea bass and venison both of which were very good and served with as portion of veg. All was served with happy friendly staff. A very comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Had dinner booked at 8 o clock. Very impressive dining room. The menu wasnt what Id call exciting but quite nice. My wife started with beetroot and goats cheese carpaccio and I had the pate both of which wete very nice. For mains I had beef rib which for the price was fine. Nothing spectacular but very nice. My wife had vegan red thai curry which was a clumpbof rice coveted in lots of carrots and no ssuce! She told the waiter that it was nothing like curry!! To be fair our waiter was brilliant. He was very apologetic and said we would not be charged for that meal. Bit of a shame but on the whole Id say thst the food is fairly good considering its not tgat expensive but maybe the chef should taste what hes cooking a little more!

No bathtub in family room but just a tiny toilet and shower room built in- no space to move around- looked and felt like an aeroplane wc. Our kids did not have a shower as they don’t like showers. Glad we stayed at another hotel day before where they were able to have a bath. Our stay was 2 days. When asked if we could borrow a bathtub for the kids I was sent to a bathroom, it was digusting! Breakfast was very limited and not worth the money. Not much available for children in the restaurant. We had no choice but to order only white rice for them as no childens choices were available. Our chikdren were hungry! Views were breathtaking but that is it. We paid over £500. Hotel was very tired and run down with brown boxes stacked up in the guest area ( living room). We wont be coming back again.

We booked an afternoon tea as the culmination of a weeks holiday for a birthday treat. The building is iconic and you feel quite special entering it, we had been looking forward to it all week. We arrived on time but there is a shortage of staff. We were seated promptly but after 15 minutes no-one had been to offer us tea, or anything. A group of about 15 had arrived, without a booking, and the 1 waitress was busy serving them. Our tea eventually arrived and a few more staff seemed to materialise. The tea and coffee and cakes were delicious. However, the sandwich element of the tea left a lot to be desired. We could have done with twice as many savouries and half as much cake - but no menu was available and we were not asked about any preferences. There were hardly enough for the whole group and the fillings were unimaginative. That is the first time - and I hope the last - that I get offered cold bacon left over from breakfast in a sandwich - yes, really! The waitress did her best, there was ample tea and coffee and any cakes not finished could be taken away in boxes, but all in all, I cannot rate the experience higher than a 2, which is a shame, as we really wanted to enjoy it. We would probably have been better opting for the lunch menu in hindsight, but maybe this is just teething problems.

I had booked for an evening meal to celebrate my partners birthday. We approached the impressive looking Camelot Castle with great expectations of a wonderful evening. On entering the foyer, you are greeted with an array of pictures from what appears to be the owner alongside well-known celebrities, not something I would expect from a hotel offering such high class service. The lady receptionist looked at us without any form of acknowledgement. We had to locate the restaurant without guidence as no staff members were visable. Finally shown to our table which had what only can only be described as a valgur looking birthday banner which is more suited for a 3 year old laid across our table.Handed the very disappointing limited menu. Not at all our expectations. Our server was of a pleasant nature. unfortunately her uniform was heavily soiled which I found to be unacceptable.Prawn Cocktail for starters... Expectations... Freshly prepared food and excellent presentation.Reality... What can only be described as a dollop of prawns covered in sauce. A wedge of lemon, a dried slice of cucumber and a wedge of tomato.Presention.... Literally thrown into a cereal bowl. Yes that's correct, a cereal bowl. Main meal... Seafood linguine... Cold plate. No bass. Had to request a finger bowl as not provided for the shell fish. No lemon in the finger bowl. Linguini was stone cold.Pork belly... Skin on pork was "rubbery" and not crispy. The potatoes had obviously been sitting around all day. The asparagus was so overcooked it was as limp as a blade of grass...We actually left majority of our meal. We decided that it was not in our intrest to punish ourselves with a dessert.I actually left the restaurant in disgust. My partner expressed our disgust at the meal that was presented to us and how it totally ruined our evening. We were given contradicting excuses which only made the situation worse. My advice... Employ a capable chef. Improve presentation skills. Revise menu to suit setting. Use freshly cooked ingredients. We returned to our accommodation and received a fresh cooked meal. WE DONOT RECOMMEND

We stayed four nights - dinner bed and breakfast and the food was superb. Both breakfast and dinner was served in Irina’s restaurant and we could not fault either. The breakfast which consisted of fruit juice, cereal and the usual fried items was hot and...

I have many passions in life and food is one of them. For me food is an art form. Everything has to be perfect. The ambiance, the view, the attention to detail, the service, and that’s before the food even arrives! What can I say...

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great views and fantastic people. Plenty of parking next to two great cars made us feel we should be driving an old R/R.

The food and wine was good it catered for all 15 of us which was enjoyed by all of us. We did not like that we had to tell the restaurant what we wanted for dinner at lunch time.

Grande comodo parcheggio.

We were staying at the hotel and ate here the first night. The menu looked really good and we were looking forward to it. However we were disapointed in the quality of the food.Starters: We both had the mussels (moules marieniere) which given the geographical location we were looking forward to. However the sauce was heavily over salted and garlicy. We did have plenty of bread though.Mains: My wifes duck was overcooked and tough, which she ruined her dinner, however my lamb was well cooked.Deserts: The Eton mess was nice. My wife asked for two scoops of ice cream which came in separate bowls for some reason. The ice cream was good quality though.Service: One of the waitresses was very good and attentive but the second waiter seemed to not understand english and had to keep getting the waitress.Overall the meal cost over £100 with some drinks and was not to the standard you would expect for the price. Therefore we only ate there the once due to the quality of the food, choosing to eat at other pubs which was better quality and cheaper.

Dinner was quite an experience! Amazing location and views at sunset (ask for a window table in the restaurant), surrounded by paintings by Ted Stourton, together with much extraordinary semi-philosophical writing about the meaning of art and life. Couldn't quite get our heads around it all. Food perfectly pleasant - extremely good fish, other dishes rather old fashioned and a little basic. Efficiently and courteously served. Worth going for the experience, the surroundings and the views, but don't expect gourmet cuisine.

I have to admit that I am not the person that comments on anything and everything, nor do I ever right a review of my experience. If I am unsatisfied with the experience, I just won't return again. But ... I have been seeing the Development of this establishment for that past 20 years and treated myself quite often to a night or two in any of the corner or best suites ( highly recommend those ) and enjoyed the ambiance and service this hotel had to offer. Our experience: Arrival to the hotel : We planned to have drinks prior to our meal. Found the bar area as busy as usual. With no free seats in sight, I ask the Brasserie manager if we could order drinks in the main lounge, whereas we been told that there normally is service but he has no clue what they doing today. Not answer I was hoping for. The entrance to the main lounge also been blocked off for some reason. Luckily the wait at bar was sufficient enough to pass the time for a table to become vacant. In previous visits, a relaxed table service was offered but not this time for some reason . Guess it’s an informal 5 star service.. , had to ask for bar menus as neither been on the bar or tables to see what’s on offer. ( also no usual complimentary nuts that used to be offered ) Restaurant We arrived early to our Booking at the samphire and were delighted to be able to be seated, unfortunately without any menus. It took about 10-15 min of us staring holes into the warm air, when I lost my patients and had to get up from the table to ask for menus at the entrance of the Restaurant. Yet again it took quite a while for us to order drinks and food as it seemed to be a chaotic service with everyone doing everything and no restaurant Manager nor head waiter in sight ( please note.. all evening ) . The lack of attention to detail was incredible .. table settings with knives to left and forks to right on every table .. just wow - giggle Food and drinks order done. ( ordered a glass of white wine with my mains, which never arrived ).. Drinks arrived what seamed ages. Overheard table next to us complaining about the slow service too, which been given a small apology but no solution to increase the speed of service ( yet again a lack of management ) Noticed the young waiter being unfamiliar on how to correctly present a bottle of wine and opening it, which I thought should be a training standard for a 5 star establishment. not only did he seem untrained, he also dried his hands in a used napkin left on the table next to him where diners just left. The pork belly starter , was below luke warm which was shame as its been rather tasty. I guess if a portion of this size is sitting on a kitchen pass for mere 3 min, it naturally will loose its core temperature, suggestion.. Next time use a cloche! I wanted to point this out to the service but yet again no manager or headwaiter to be seen and the waiters seem too busy to be bothered. Once they did ask if everything is alright, but by that time we finished what we had on the plate ( which is not a lot if you are hungry ) Unfortunately the main course of the hen and the monk fish not been any better and yet again being luke warm. Dessert of the frangipane tart and pineapple been ok, but yet again no attention to detail, as the dessert been bought out without cutlery being replenished prior. Ordered coffee to be served in the lounge, which arrived with no sugar or spoon and had to be asked for separately. When I paid my bill, I mentioned that the wine I ordered with my main course never arrived. No apology was offered.. A "informal fine Dining " experience. 95% informal - 5 % fine Dining. :-( Over the past 20 years I always chose the Headland hotel for its perfection, attention to detail and impeccable service, this time it's not delivered to its promise which is a shame cause that's what I will remember.. Coming from a 4 to a 5 star .. I expected more ( go back to 4 stars !!! You been better then
