If you’re going around Kingsand or stay nearby, you must at least visit this historic pub. We had cornish pastries which were very lovely and massive as well as some drinks. The place was very beautiful as the pub is seafront. We went there when it was raining quite heavily and windy but i bet that it would be very nice when it’s summer or spring.

The Devonport Inn on the Cleave has a unique position in this historic, charming and traffic free Cornish village yards from the small beach that looks out across the Rame peninsular. On a sunny day one can sit out, eat well at great value from the pub restaurant or sample local real ales and fine wines from the bar. Try one of our light, hand baked Cornish pasties and a pint of local beer or fresh.Local Seafood is our speciality such as Lobster, potted crab, Moules Marinieres, or river Exe oysters accompanied with a glass of Cremant or chilled white wine. DOG FRIENDLY We are very dog friendly and our four legged friends are welcome (with an attached, well behaved human) throughout the pub. If our floors are too hard ask to borrow one of our doggie blankies, we also have treats on the bar that you can help yourself too. GLUTEN FREE With the owner being Coeliac we understand how hard it can be to eat out safely. Most of our menu is gluten free or can be adapted to suit.

Had never heard of this place before, but we will definitely be returning. We were a party of ten that was difficult to squeeze in and had several different dietary requirements. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, very accommodating, polite and friendly. There was a very local, friendly vibe. Very cosy with cute twinkle lights. The food was absolutely delicious. The vegan risotto was the best Iv had, and the gluten free vegan nut roast was the best gran had ever tasted. Everyone was very happy

Visiting friends in Cawsand and we went here for a drink one night and some food & drink the second night. They have a fantastic Real Ale- Legend. One of the best that I've tasted, ever!. We stayed for a week in Cawsand and while we tried several places during that time the two evenings we ate here were the best meals of the trip. Really welcoming people and lovely friendly staff. The fish was superb as well as the risotto and although we didn’t need dessert the crumble was too good to miss. Not a large number of tables so probably advisable to make reservations

I’ve been going to the Devonport for three or four years now and every time it just seems to get better. Their seafood is to die for and it’s all relatively reasonably priced. This is a great little pub with a stunning view, a lovely spot to have a drink and a chat with friends, which is what a pub is all about. With limited space both inside and out at the height of the season it gets extremely busy. So if you want a table for food definitely book. When we went for a drink we were lucky enough to get four metal stools to sit on to look out to sea and enjoy the balmy evening and the seaside atmosphere. It's the pubs position that makes this pub. I would recommend going any time out of season.

I really like The Devonport Inn. Great place and ideally situated at the sea front. You can also sit out the front and contemplate life. I just wish the staff would smile a bit. I know they’re busy and deal with the public mainly on holiday. It seems as if they were told it’s their last shift! Other places manage to serve with a smile! I’d also say the food was a little pricey especially for melted cheese and bread, just saying😊

We had the small fish and chips, one mush peas/ one garden peas. Only thing was we didn't read the blackboard correctly.. Small fish and chips. £8.50p But the peas was extra £2.50p. Each mushy and garden peas. We went inside to eat as The seagulls were flying down and taking The pasty's out of people 's hands. We have been to this pub many times, sometimes we walk from Mount Edgecombe and sometimes we drive. The food is great and there are a lot of Gluten Free Options and they are listed on the menu which for me is brilliant as most of the time you tend to feel like an after thought, as in most places they can’t be bothered to put it on the menu and you have to ask. We have no hesitation in returning to this pub.

What a treat! When you walk in you see the Chalk Board with a fantastic array of the pub's food offerings including the specials for the day. Taste buds alerted you move to the bar with a selection of real ale and ciders along with other options if the first two drink categories don't float your boat. We had booked a table inside but we couldn't get over how many people and dogs were sitting outside on wood stools overlooking the beach drinking a pint accompanied by a DA Cornish Pasty! The food was fantastic! For starters, my son and I did a deal to share a DA Pasty and the most fantastic Moules "Tom Yum" (lemongrass, chilli, galangal, lime) with homemade sourdough bread! The mains were fantastic too. The butcher’s pork sausages, mashed potatoes, onion gravy, and beer-battered Cornish haddock with ‘proper’ triple-cooked beef dripping chips went down well with the younger members of the party. Myy wife and I had different fish specials - Skate Wings with the triple-cooked chips and Hake with Coconut Rice respectively. I sampled all 3 types of fish but the orientla-inspired Hake was superb! As usual, I still found enough room for their melt-in-the-middle chocolate desert with homemade white chocolate ice cream. The rest of the party ate different combinations of the ice-cream. The day before visiting the local dog walkers had all created the Devonshire Arms as the best eaterie in the area. I'm sure I'd find it hard to find better!

I'm wondering whether we just caught this place on an off night based on the other reviews! We attended as a couple on a Sunday in October for an early dinner sitting. The good, the atmosphere of the pub is nice. The food we found to be fairly basic, whilst perhaps better than the other pubs directly in Kingsand we didn't find it to be anything special. The prices charged suggested that it'd be a nicer meal than what we received which was a real shame. There were only two servers on, they seemed rushed and didn't have time to put any care into what they were doing, we ate and left as quickly as we could. Three stars from us, as it is just that, fine, or at least it was on a Sunday evening in October.

Had a great meal at The Devonport Inn on their reopening night after their annual break. Food was way above your normal pub grub and will definitely be back soon. The only slight downside to the evening was watching the young waiter brush back his floppy hair every 30 seconds which is probably a trait to which he is probably not aware of but really not acceptable when serving food and drink. Apart from that we had a very memorable evening and enjoyed having some banter with some locals

I really don't like olives but the sauce was amazing and I eat forkful after forkful of it on its own, it was absolutely stunning!!! The sausages were great too, from a local butchers who I can highly recommend. For around £40( which includes a pint each!) we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and are lucky to live just a few miles from here so are already planning to return next weekend for the bank holiday!!! We had a wonderful time at this fantastic pub, where a very friendly bar lady warmly welcomed us. As a family of five with three young children, we found this place to be incredibly family-friendly. The food was superb, with fresh seafood, and the king's prawns and scallops were particularly delicious. The downstairs area of the pub has a great atmosphere – cozy, warm, and with an old-world charm. We sat upstairs at a large table with views over the bay. It was a truly enjoyable and memorable evening during our holiday. I also thought the prices for both food and drinks were very reasonable. We would definitely visit again when we're next in the area.
