Food was lovely, we had a great view sat in the conservatory area, staff seemed very friendly. Couldn't book online because it said no availability but rang up and they fit us in no problem.

Had an amazing meal with the family, we all loved our food and the service was excellent throughout. Would highly recommend.

We have visited here several times both as residents of the hotel and as walk in customers and have never had a bad experience!! The food : delicious !! We especially love their linguine & jerk chicken dishes !! Breakfast, fab & lots of choice . Average price when you compare it to other places, and they will not have Tolcarne’s amazing view & venue. Staff : Always so lovely & welcoming!! A special mention for Jess & Lawrence who over our many visits have always taken the time to acknowledge us & speak to us. Setting : Absolutely stunning!!! Both inside & out. Can’t wait to re-visit.

We arrived for the seafood bbq, knowing that it is one of my favorite dining places my expectations were already high, while the food, drinks and views were as beautiful as I had expected. I have to say it was the little touches that blew me away this time! The blankets on the chair and Danny going above and beyond to not only ask if my requests were possible but double checking that they had been followed up, his intention to detail is superb and his charisma really does the business well. I can’t wait to return to this beautiful corner of heaven.

Found this place by accident whilst walking along the beach in Newquay. Lovely interior decorated to look like a colonial building. Feels like you’re in the Caribbean with ceiling fans, palm trees and grand furniture. Place was empty on arrival and we were promptly served and offered a lovely table near the fire and next to a window overlooking the beach. Service was great and food was delicious. I had fish and husband had steak. The cocktails were lovely. Food was slightly overpriced, but very nice. Only negative feedback I would give is to glass over the kitchen hatch as Nobody wants to hear the kitchen staff shouting at each other, and also when you have a couple on their own in an empty restaurant, don’t sit a young couple coming in with a baby right next to them! We were hoping to have some time away from kids. We subsequently escaped quickly.

Terrible don’t eat here!! We were sat next to the open kitchen, the chefs were loud and rude talking about all the drugs they take! Swearing a lot and saying what sounded like racial slurs! Me and my husband were absolutely appalled! I understand hospitality so could have let it go, if it wasn’t for the service and the food we received over the next 2 hours, no one came to take our drinks for nearly half and hour so my husband went to the bar to order and was rudely told to sit back down and its table service so we waited another 15 minutes! The same bar lady, I can only presume she was a manger as she was wearing a different shirt came and rudely took our order letting us no it’s just her in the bar and she’s busy!! The food was cold underwhelming and just poor from start to finish! add that with the terrible service and the vile chefs I can safely say I will never be coming back! And I’ll be sure to let my friends and family know…

Christmas Day ruined. Slow service, poor meals. We booked for a family of 7 on Xmas day. Service was very slow which climaxed when receiving the main course after 2 1/2 hours! The kids meals were Ok but the first two adult meals were cold, so returned. They were eventually replaced some 20 mins later when the kids had finished their dinner. There was no consistency in the standard plating. My meal had no pigs in blankets, no red cabbage, no carrots, 1 sprout and no cauliflower cheese. My wife missed the same ingredients but had 9 sprouts and 6 parsnips. That’s it! Other meals then had a mixture of sides so extra dishes came out and an apology. The desert was then poor in size. Half a pear, and no ice cream, so again had to ask for that. Whilst we complained, and there was an apology and small discount offered. Apparently the chef had the day off, on Xmas day with the cost of the booking is madness. The 4 hours experience in a great location on Xmas day was spoiled

I went with a friend and her son, it was my friends bday. Local friends told us to eat at the restaurant, so we took a stroll and went directly to the restaurant to book a table. I was blown away by the stunning views ! Just wow..the evening started off well, we had some champagne. Then we wanted to have a few more following on to having a lovely meal. We were being pushed to order food, when we mentioned could we do so in about 40minutes. Again the waitress kept on coming to our table, and eventually said they have reservations and will need to put the food through gor those guests and we would have to wait 1.45 for our food.. It didn't make any sense as the restaurant was not packed. Then what really topped this terrible experience was 2 staff members talking about us and staring, pulling their faces. In the end they came back to us and said we could order now..we didn't understand the fuss! It was not packed..it felt we were not wanted or welcomed !

Gorgeous setting, right in the beach in Newquay, beautiful restaurant with fabulous views. We had a full Cornish breakfast which was delicious

My wife and I visited on a wet and windy Friday evening. From the front of house greeting to our drinks and cocktail and the meal it was a perfect night. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and is wonderfully decorated. The portion sizes are very generous particularly the pasta. The chef made a point of coming to check everything was okay with my meal which was a really nice touch. Will definitely visit again next time we are in Newquay! Thanks. Ed and Debbie.

We came as a large group with kids and they were able to accommodate us fairly last minute on a Saturday night. The staff are really friendly and were accommodating of food allergies and the food was extremely delicious. Amazing views over the beach and a great themed colonial carribean restaurant without being gimmicky. Feels high end without the high end prices or snootiness. They even drove us up the hill at the end as it was raining. All round great experience.

This was our 3rd year in a row visiting this restaurant for dinner, and each time it hasn't disappointed. The mussels were the best my wife has ever had, the jerk ribs are amazing and on top of all that you're looking out onto Tolcarne beach, out to the sea and if you're lucky you can get an amazing sunset. Service every time has been brilliant and we can't wait to go back again next year.

Had breakfast here. The service really wasn’t good - not many staff on. The food was OK - but just OK. The coffee wasn’t good and the orange juice was very cheap, from concentrate. Overall, rather disappointed.

Every single member of staff is so nice, welcoming and give brilliant service the food is very nice especially if u like seafood and if the weather is nice u can sit outside and enjoy the views, feels like your sat abroad in Spain, would definitely recommend this restaurant as we went twice during our stay in Newquay.

Wow!!!! A table of 8, adults and kids for my husbands birthday. We went for the seafood barbecue. The seafood platter was insane and the tomahawk steak was the best I’ve ever tasted… amazing puddings, rum punch and cocktails. The live saxophonist and hard working attentive staff made this an evening to remember!!! Can’t thank the Colonial team enough!! 5*

We live in Newquay and visited on Saturday evening for the first time. Wow! Where do I start? Absolutely stunning venue, beautiful seaside view. Friendly welcome 🙌 We were even offered a choice of indoor seating or outside on the terrace. Dog friendly, fabulous service, attentive staff and most delicious food. We will definitely be back. I visited with my mum for dinner as we are both gluten free and I knew they had gluten free options. The service was amazing. Especially our waitress, Mary, who was so friendly. She made us feel so welcomed and looked after. The meal and drinks were lovely. We will definitely be coming back!
