The best restaurants serving British food in Wokingham South East

We were treated by our Children to a Chef’s Table, and what an experience. The food from Rob and his presentation and explanation of all dishes along with the wine pairing from Brendon was perfect. The service from the rest of the staff was relaxed and attentive , which made the whole evening so enjoyable . This was our first visit but it won’t be our last. Thanks to everybody involved.

What a great meal we had here. The food was amazing and the vibe of the service was casual but excellent, a good explanation of the dishes and attentive to ask if we was suffering with any alergies. We came for a Roast and left with full happy belly's hopefully next time we can stay a little longer for pudding. Thankyou again for your hospitality.

Just revisited the Heron for lunch, always a lovely quiet atmosphere, the food as usual was excellent, served by friendly staff.

4 of us here yesterday, the service was not only amazing but the food was outstanding. Special shout out to quite frankly the most phenomenal cheesecake I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Highly recommend to anyone looking for relaxed atmosphere with fantastic service & food. We will be back:)

I arranged a private supper club for my 40th birthday, for 14 people. We were seated in Goswell and Birds, the farm shop adjoining The Greyhound, which is a fab venue. My friends and I were blown away by the delicious seasonal menu, which came with a wine pairing, and the excellent service from Andrea and Chris. It was an absolutely incredible evening and the perfect way to celebrate my big birthday.

Mi esposa y yo llamamos durante la semana para conseguir fish & chips. Pedí Haddock (skin - on) & chips y mi esposa pidió bacalao & chips. Recogimos en 15 minutos y debo decir que fue fantástico. La masa estaba muy crujiente (no aceitosa en absoluto) y el sabor era encantador, me recordó a estar en Cornualles. Gracias

Visited last Friday and was served by Julia. It was busy, but the service was brilliant and Julia was so calm and friendly. Will definitely visit again. Thank you 😁

Disappointed birthday celebrations ordered sea bass and that’s all that arrived one fillet, had to order vegetables at extra cost, cheese board at £17. Barely enough for one let alone to share questioned the lack of cheese and crackers to be told we were not the first to say - maybe something ought to be done about it. Really looking forward to it but won’t be back.

Excellent Sunday lunch, great food, excellent service and inexpensive. Excellent menu especially Thai. Deserves a visit.

Not one family member could eat the beef as it was so tough which spoilt the meal. Temperature in the room was very very hot. Waitress was good though

Came here as a 4 with my friends and partner for dinner. Food was nice standard pub dinner but was really good for the price. Cheap food and cheap drinks which are not below par. Perfect little local for anyone in Wokingham.

I echo the sentiments of the previous reviewer: the new Sunday roast offering is a marked step up as regards tastiness from what was on offer previously. The portions are of a decent size: note that the majority of vegetables are served in a separate dish which can give the impression that the meal portion is smaller than it actually is. A very friendly pub which is worth a visit imho (full disclosure: I am a regular both during the week and, for the sports coverage, on weekends).

Had an amazing Christmas lunch with 31 friends today.Good choose menu all the food came out hot all at once and the the staff were very good.Food was very tasty.will go back.Thankyou Dog and Duck.
