The Greyhound in Wokingham

Returned here after several visits to have lunch with a few friends. Selected the set menu. The food was OK but lacked taste and was very limited in size. We had Slow Cooked Lamb, Burger and also Whole Cornish plaice. Rather unfortunate as the place is very nice and service fine.

Everything was excellent here and I'll certainly be returning. The service in particular stood out, the staff were very attentive and the bar staff were totally crushing it, every order was delivered very rapidly. The Sunday Roast was amazing with great trimmings.

Food was a bit slow but the friendly staff kept us informed and provided free drinks. Well presented and very tasty food. A nice evening out and we're definitely coming back soon.

The greyhound goes back a very long way for me. I’ve known it for as long as I’ve lived in Finchampstead and that’s coming up to 20 years. I’ve seen it change from hand to hand and it only seems to be getting better. I remember going with my Grandad after school to have a pudding! With a lot of strong competition in the area, The Greyhound is still my go to. My mum, I and my grandad ate on Easter bank holiday Monday and were very satisfied. It was safe to say there was no room for any chocolate after the well-sized portions. The eloquent young lady who partly served us stood out as extremely polite and caring. I have never had bad service here. I’ve been here approximately 50+ times in my lifetime and it never fails to disappoint. The food is always excellent, the staff are very professional and friendly. Even the chairs are exceptionally comfortable, which seems to be rare to find in a pub nowadays! Pat on the back to the Greyhound team!

We came here for lunch on Easter Monday as a couple of friends recommended this, especially for the beef wellington which sadly was not on the menu. Lovely airy and modern feel to the dining area. Food ok, husband had a burger which was quite pink inside which he ate but he would have preferred more cooked and I had the chicken which was lovely. He ordered chocolate delice for pudding which he liked, my only grumble was that I asked if I could have cheese and biscuits for one as on the menu for the price (i think £14) it was clearly meant for sharing and the waitress said no, the kitchen couldn’t do that which I thought was a bit odd as you could have just had less cheese and less crackers! Anyway I ended up with the jersey rice pudding which was nice although I was expecting it to be hot and not cold. I think we will try again and hopefully will be up to the five stars that everyone else has given. They must be doing something right though as it was extremely busy so I would recommend booking.

Served by Matt, the best pornstar martini 🍸 Silky and smooth ! 5 star service and ingredients. Highly recommend. Such a freindly experience and a very dishy front of house Michael made us very welcome.

Absolute shambles of a place. Used to be a nice little pub with decent pub meals. Clearly changed ownership as it's now a wannabe boujee restaurant. Food took a long time to arrive, tiny portion sizes, and menu items including £25 for a small rabbit pie and some broccoli. £150 for 3 people to wait hours to have an average at best meal, when there were 2 other tables of 2 in the place. Waitress didn't check for allergies, breaching legal obligation, checked once how the food was and didn't really respond when told it was mediocre and overpriced. Someone needs their head checking. The bill turned up in an empty passport case?

Highly recommended for a nice weekday lunch. Friendly and efficient staff, a nice variety on the fixed price lunch menu, and excellent food. The mackerel starter was fantastic. We were there to celebrate my mum’s birthday, and it was lovely that the staff realised that and acknowledged it quietly. We will be back.

Beautiful spot, spacious bar and dining areas and good outdoor garden too with some cabins with heat lamps. Really tasty Sunday lunch, all the trimmings and the offer of extra anything. Wonderful service, attentive but not insistent and ever helpful. Absolutely spot on will come again and been looking into the ‘secret supper club’ dinners!

If you go to the greyhound make sure you ask for Matt and Jess , they were absolutely class, professional and really welcoming great members of staff to the greyhound bar staff

Hey I went to the greyhound with multiple work colleagues. This was an immensely important trip. The service was absolutely amazing. A young lady named Jess served us and was so amazing she dealt with all of our needs. Honestly what a great pub. I’d go to the greyhound for many more work trips. 10:10 service. Thank you Jess.

It was actually the charming farm shop that we visited- part of The Greyhound - lovely service,friendly, helpful staff and a great choice of food and drink. Well worth a visit

We visited a weekday lunchtime and had a friendly greeting. Service was attentive and Matt took good care of us. We had the cheese burger and chicken dish and both were delicious. Not to mention the croquettes to start which were also amazing. Lovely atmosphere and surroundings, clean facilities- will definitely be back!

Met up on Mother’s Day with family. Good atmosphere. Roast Beef tender with delicious trimmings. Everyone happy with their meals . Staff were friendly and attentive and lovely with my 18 month old who likes to explore! Felt relaxed, not rushed . Busy all afternoon.

Worth dropping in for a morning coffee. The little shop offers a nice range of food. The staff are really nice as is the building and location. Nice cakes on offer. Well done

Very pleasant interior with lots of dining capacity. Quite expensive menu which the Sunday lunch didn't really justify. Service was first class.

Fantastic gastropub in Finchampstead. We sat down at the bar for a few drinks before our table was ready and Matt kept the fantastic cocktails flowing. Matt makes a mean Margarita & Whisky Sour! Once we sat down at our table Tom gave us the best service, replacing our mussel shell dishes as they were filling up, checking up on us throughout the evening and he kept the wine flowing. The food was delicious and service fantastic, and they even gave us a little birthday brownie to wish the birthday girl. Fantastic food, great atmosphere and drinks, we will definitely be back very soon!

First time here. Lovely pub. Friendly staff. A little disappointed that the Sunday menu is just roast. But bearing that in mind I had the chicken and my friend had the nut roast. Disappointment sums up both meals. Very dry. Tough chicken. Dry roast potatoes. The Yorkshire was almost in edible. Arrive was great though. Would come again for drinks. Or maybe to try the main weekday menu.

We booked a last-minute table for 6 adults and 3 kids on a Monday lunchtime. Service was friendly and efficient, food was delicious and really good value for money. Will definitely be back!

Excellent lunch and handling of our big party of 12. Really attentive service and the food was delicious. Many of us had the roast beef (beautifully pink) and all the trimmings were also excellent.

Myself & my BF absolutely love this place. The minute you walk in the door someone asks if they can help you. Extremely polite & professional and chatty. Food is yummy especially the desserts. We go there regularly

Made an enquiry on 12/09/23 for Christmas Day booking at 1pm for x3, the response was only 12.00 & 2.30pm free. Booking so early was disappointed that 1pm tables had all gone. We've been out for Christmas Day for many years and always secured our desired time. Must have been off the ball in 2023. We arrive at 12.00 full of Christmas cheer and excited for our Christmas lunch. We where greeted and escorted into a complety empty dining room, hummmm okay we must be the first!. 20 minutes later we asked the server where is everybody she said they will be busier later. One hour later a table for x2 arrived by this point we had become so uncomfortable with the experience we had received being the only table in a completely empty restaurant with the staff staring constantly we felt like a zoo exhibition. The starter arrived and once cleared removed within seconds of the cutlery being placed and the main arrived meer minutes after. The whole experience was horrible I've had more atmosphere at a wake than at the greyhound. More tables did arrive around 1.20pm and by the time we made a hasty exit at 1.40am the resturant was a 1/3 full. Leaving me baffled as to WHY we where given such a time at the response email. The greyhound deliberately placed us in an completely empty restaurant for 80% of our meal which was £110 each + drinks and £50 inforced tip the server made it clear they did not want to be there. Who ever runs this place clearly stares as the profits and does not want returning custom. We had been regular patrons until 2023 wake-mas. Now its avoided like the plague and not recommended to anyone I come in contact with.

A Gastro-Pub tucked away in Eversley. Popped in for a Sunday Roast. Service and food was excellent.

Everything is amazing about this place. Just wish they had a cozy fireplace, and that’s me wishing.

Amazing food amazing service and atmosphere I took my father for his 85 birthday and he raved about his lamb shank and my hake was to die for ! I recently ate at the beehive in white Waltham which is nice but this is exceptional fabulous will definitely be back

Fab food, a little pricier than other local pubs, but really wonderful food every time, so worth it if you can!

Beautiful pub, great service with exceptionally friendly staff. Went for a Sunday lunch, 3 of us had roast unfortunately the food was luke warm, I think it had been sitting on the pass, plated up and waiting. The non roast eaters had hot food, so theirs seems to have been made fresh. Two of the puddings were cold, we sent those back which they provided new ones and removed them from the bill. Overall was disappoining as the food is the most important part of a pub experience. I would go back if I was with friends who wanted to eat there, but wouldn't go back on my own accord.

Came here with a big group for a Sunday roast and was SO impressed! Our waitress was so friendly, helpful and the service was very quick. Food was really tasty with big portions, genuinely one of the best roasts i’ve had! Can’t wait to come back :-)

Our party had a few allergies between us which was no problem for the kitchen and we were provided with 3 delicious courses which were suitable to our various dietary requirements. I had the best plant based main ever I could happily eat and enjoy the gnocchi on a daily basis. Thank you See you again soon

Wonderful location and unbeatable service

The restaurant is lovely and cosy. We had the duck beast and the plaice. Both were cook beautiful, although the plaice was quite rich, but nonetheless tasty. The salad and bread were good sides for the plaice. Would come again to try more of their tasty looking dishes

A magnificent place - delicious food on the 2 occasions I was there, great selection of beers and wines, and the staff are wonderful. I recommend trying the specials 100%, the kitchen knows how to put together delicious and unique dishes. Plenty of parking space, and also a beautiful village shop.

Beautiful Pub with a very classic feel, food was top, highly recommended the beef shin and truffle pasties. Decent selection of non alcoholic beers too.

Enjoyed a fantastic Saturday lunch, from start to finish everything was perfect. Treated by the wonderful attentive staff who gave menu recommendations that were greatly received! We went with two of the recommended specials - scallops and skate wing - both you could tell were cooked with care and attention and were delicious. All the staff were warm and engaging, not something you always find around these parts. They also have a small shop attached to the pub which we visited as we left and couldn't resist buying a slice of cake. Will certainly be back!

Edible, but not enjoyable. Roast potatoes nearly raw inside. Lots of small children there too, so sounded like we were at a tea party. Very expensive for what it is - would not recommend.

We loved the team. Our waitress Emily could not have been more polite and attentive! We spent £184, and for that, the food was average. £21 for a beef Sunday roast where you get two medium slices of meat; the veg had little to no taste. The cauliflower cheese was rather nice, but the Yorkshire pudding did not feel or taste as fresh as it should have. It may have been made a good few hours before we were served them and heated up. The restaurant had several flies, making for a disturbing eating experience. We have been to this pub before and enjoyed drinks and the atmosphere, but this time all were disappointed. The nail in the coffin is when we go outside to escape the flies; the garden is lovely. The smell and noise of a petrol-powered hedge trimmer took over our Sunday peace. Why they do this on a Sunday at 1330 at the height of lunch service baffles us. Great team, great atmosphere, and amazing service; let down by the food in a big way for that price.

Great meal here last night for my husbands birthday. Generous portions and high quality ingredients. Friendly attentive service. Prices reflect the quality and service, so not cheap. For information: 12.5% service charge added to bill (happy to pay this). The beef wellington is amazing and my husband ordered this £62 sharing meal just for him and then we all shared the 2nd portion which was a nice treat. He has a big appetite and reckoned he could have managed it to himself!

Have been several times before and always great food and service. They also supply water as standard which I love and think is a necessity (this is a legal right and think other restaurants need to apply) Well done The Greyhound. We will be back

Fantastic accidental find. The service food and especially the cocktails were amazing. The team were so friendly I even tried to poach one(oops sorry) all joking aside though , this has to be up there with some of the best pubs I've eaten in . Thank you all . We will be back very soon

Lovely place for really decent food and fabulous service in a nice setting. Minor adjustment can be made by not using the frozen and dry tasteless clams that went with the cod, otherwise everything else we ate was close to perfection and much better than most pubs.

We had a brilliant dinner at the Greyhound. I have a dairy allergy, which is usually such a pain when eating out but the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and even the manager came over to check with us. The food was absolutely delicious too. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!

Getting to be a regular for coffee and pastries at The Greyhound after a nice walk around the lakes nearby. The quality of the produce is good and the coffee is freshly made with good flavour. Occasionally a member of staff might come round with a complimentary small glass of madeira and a piece of delicious apple cake which always goes down a treat! They also have a shop, Goswell & Bird's', as part of the building and they sell high end groceries with locally sourced meat, fresh vegetables, specialist cheeses and also freshly baked bread. All round a great experience and worth a visit.

We went for brunch, the outside and inside of the pub are gorgeous! Especially the outside in the sunshine!! Today as its wintery we were inside, staff were super friendly and accomdating, prices are a little steep and for the brunch menu I would prefer a few more classic choices as it felt like more of a lunch menu than brunch. Overall however its a lovely pub and the staff were fab, worth a visit

We visited by chance and found this to be an excellent find for lunch, dinner and they also have a packaged work ' all the coffee (or tea) you'd like free wi-fi and parking ' deal . There is a local produce shop cafe alongside too, with courtyard tables and pods for the warmer weather.

Booked here for a birthday meal and checked reviews prior and certainly lived up to expectations. Ordered a few snacks to share for starters. We all Ordered beef Wellington x 6 as sharing between two it was cooked amazing and all sides accompanied this perfectly. Friendly and helpful service and manged to have table in pub as we have dog with us. The puddings were ok bit disappointed compared with mains. Lovely family celebration dinner and certainly pub to recommend!

A great menu of quality food all served in a relaxing environment. Good food quality beers 🍻 that are not ell kept and a reasonable wine list. Just beware there may be a 12.5% service charge added. Well wort a visit!! 😃

What a great find! Had a lovely Sunday lunch with family. The food was fresh and hot. Service was fantastic! The waiter was really kind to our children and they were made to feel very welcome. The farm shop was a perfect addition! Large carpark too!

I recently visited The Greyhound and was extremely impressed with the service. The staff were first class and made sure our experience was enjoyable. The food was excellent - not pretentious and full of flavour. The real ales were also great and I would highly recommend a visit.

Went in for a pint and chips. Friendly staff and prompt service. A bit expensive for a side of chips.
