Visited last Friday and was served by Julia. It was busy, but the service was brilliant and Julia was so calm and friendly. Will definitely visit again. Thank you 😁

Dropped in today for a quick lunch. Staff very attentive and friendly, Amy and Harvey I believe. Real log fire felt very welcoming. Will definitely be back

Booked for a party of five ladies, Jamie Leigh was our waitress, she was polite, helpful and very efficient. The food was hot and tasty with good sized portions, all round a very pleasant experience.

Came in last night and had a lovely steak pie. We were served by Julia who was very attentive and friendly as always! Great atmosphere with a real homely feel.

Unfortunately arrived at 7:00pm and was told there was only Turkey left on the Sunday roast selection , the turkey was nice and plenty of it but would have like a choice

Servers were very pleasant and friendly, bit up and down when entering the restaurant, the only criticism I could give on the place, is the pathways into the place could do with extra lighting to guide you through the darkness fro the carpets, and all the uneven slabs and walkways to be flat and level

Exceptional Sunday roast (beef on bone) - one of the best I ever had, excellent Tea ale (even if a bit too expensive). Place is being really let down by poorly trained staff, not knowing what to do, not being helpful, not asking for sources / salt / pepper when bringing food. In fact couldn’t find a single shaker of salt anywhere at the pub at all. It was a very chaotic Sunday service, yet the kitchen did the magic with the roast.

we arrived to have a meal saturday lunchtime, it took 45 mins for the food to come out, despite the pub being reasonably quiet, and the food being a simple burger. when the food arrived the squid was dry and the chicken was cold. the chicken burger was lacking in chicken, and the bacon cheeseburger was dull. the burger meat itself was dry and flavourless, the rest of the components were lovely, but the meat made the whole thing dull. definitely NOT worth the wait!

Called Sunday morning to book a table for 8 of us for a birthday meal for my daughter, no problem. The chef ( conor) catered for my diet and it was truly delicious. Waiting staff was on hand to top up our drinks checking everything was OK. Also brought out a birthday cake nothing was to much trouble!

We went as a group of 7 for a birthday meal. We often go to the Leathern Bottle because they can make provision for my disabled brother. The staff were all very helpful. The meal was really good; plenty of it, well presented and very tasty.

Small group of us arrived, 5, just as about 15 people left. However, we were told we couldn't be seated - the staff didn't seem to have a basic grasp of the booking system and didn't know if they could take us. We left and went elsewhere. Useless.

How lovely to walk into a warm and cozy pub on a cold, rainy night! Our server Julia was especially lovely and helpful too - thank you, Julia!

We love our monthly breakfast at the Leathern Bottle. Luke always does everything he can to make our experience perfect. Food and service are always top notch.

Wonderful Burns Night menu- soup starter was delicious and thick, haggis was tasty, chicken was moist, hot, and the mash and vegetables were all good. Jamie Leigh was attentive, friendly, paid attention to our party, and never appeared over stressed on such a busy night. The only let down was the desserts- the panna cotta was powdery tasting as if it hadn’t been mixed enough and the Eton mess chocolate mousse was more raspberry than chocolate. Although it was a long wait, bar the dessert the menu was lovely. The chips were very good but the onion rings definitely needed longer in the fryer.

Julia and Amerlie gave a wonderful service and we never waited long for our food. It was a genuine lovely atmosphere to celebrate a birthday 😁🙌

Lovely cosy place, very rustic looking. Service was great and food was well paced ie wasn't rushed but also not waiting for ages. My only little niggle was the main course came with a selection of vegetables of which the broccoli was literally frozen in the middle whereas the rest of the meal was the perfect temp. I'm sure it was an oversight so no major issue but other than that, couldn't fault anything else. Food was cooked to perfection otherwise

Was there Xmas day morning and was great service

We recently visited the pub for a celebration meal as we have done several times in the past. Due to a new allergy issue I was concerned it would be difficult for them to cater for us. I went in advance snd spoke to Jamie‐Leigh who was so kind and careful explaining the options to us. It was a busy day (we tried for a quiet time but it is a popular pub!) And Jamie-Leigh made me feel like it was a real priority for us to be able to find suitable food for a complex need. She was really patient and thoughtful and I was so reassured. She even gave us a paper allergen menu to take with us to help. It made a huge difference to our experience when we arrived later and the food was excellent. Took all the stress out of it! Thank you.

The family and I came here for our Christmas Day meal and have to say it was excellent the food was lovely our waitress Alyssa was amazing she definitely helped with making our Christmas Day as special as possible. Overall a great experience will be returning in the new year!

I came in and I was welcomed by Luke he was very friendly and polite and very funny and even though they where busy he still kept a smile and me and my family happy and welcomed the service was good and the food was on point and I will be back with more of my guest it was very quick service as everyone who was working thank u all and the chefs

My family and I came in for a festive meal; our waitress Alyssa was very polite and friendly and able to serve us and answer any questions despite the pub being busy. Ye Olde Leathern Bottel is a pub with a traditional feel that is very warm and welcoming. The staff are always friendly and today Antonio was particularly helpful in answering my questions and assisting me even though i could see he was busy The meals are excellent with plenty to choose from, I particularly enjoy the pies, or sometimes just a starter or two for something a bit lighter.

Went in for food with friends and had a nice time, very good food (recommended by staff member Antonio) nice location and overall pleasant recommended experience. Makes a change to be served by someone respectful polite and actual knowledge about products available. We will be back.

Popped over for a couple of Christmas drinks. Lucky to be able to just walk across the road to this lovely pub. We were served by a happy, smiley, helpful young man called Antonio!! He was very knowledgeable and able to help me choose the perfect Gin! Excellent service.

Great service with excellent quality Sunday 3 roast for 2 of us and beef rib for 1. The beef rib was tender and tasty. Deserts of triple chocolate to die for.

6 of us went on Saturday for my partner's birthday. We were served good food by Jamie- Leigh. It was a lovely atmosphere, thank you.

Have been before and food was lovely, this time not so much. Had squid for starter which, to be honest was a little like chewing a rubber band. Steak was cooked as requested but very tough, chips were 'old'. Fish was good as was the belly pork. Excellent service but sadly will not be returning.

So we booked breakfast with Santa a few weeks ago, and got the kids hyped up for their breakfast with the big man! What a disappointment for both my kids, my wife and I and grandparents. Let’s be honest here… cold breakfast with a bloke in Nike trainers may be rather more accurate…. The food was cold, the farmers breakfast was quite simply disgusting and I’m not sure how many times the hash browns had been reheated.Soggy cold toast for the kids and one breakfast returned as it was stone cold. I work in the service industry and I would never serve the food that was served to my family. To be told that I’m the only person to complain is hardly service recovery. Yes, the assistant manager only charged us for the kids breakfast and their visit with the bloke in Nikes, but that’s not the point, it’s one Xmas breakfast experience that we won’t get back for our kids.

Our local and go-to when eating out. Can always count on the pie, roasts and desserts to be top notch. Atmosphere and service is always great too. Lucy and the team are awesome. P.s: Be sure to get the steak and ale pie (or Mushroom Pie if veggie)!

I come here a lot with my elderly friend Pete who’s 91. Lucy, Julia and the rest of the staff are always friendly and cheerful and take really good care of us. You really do get service with a smile here. The pub has a warm cosy atmosphere and the food is good. Thoroughly recommended!

We have had issues with service the last couple of times we have gone but last night was exceptionally good.. Food good. Hannah our waitress was pleasant and attentive

Great food. The meals arrived hot and the portions were a good size. Also, we were served impeccably by Hannah, who was really lovely. Great personality and an excellent representative of the venue. She was attentive without being overbearing, and charming without being over familiar. Pretty much the perfect waitress. She was extremely apologetic about there being no Roast Turkey ( on the festive menu - and there’s a massive Tesco just down the road), as if it was her fault.

So hit and miss. Either the food is burnt / cold which follows on with service being terrible. For example went Sat 30th Nov during lunch and food was spot on and the waitress was on the ball. Very busy so that can't be used as an excuse. Went 1st Dec, ordered the same food, the festive Turkey and it took 50 minutes to come, Turkey was actually cold, the yorky and potatoes black burnt. You highlight to a staff member who just looks brainless and genuinely looks like they are trying to figure out how to speak and it was less busy than the day before. Gone for 3 stars as in the middle but when service and food is on point, it is 5 stars!

Despite being really busy on a Sunday, had amazing service from Julia who despite being off shift towards the end of our visit was still more than happy to make sure we had a great night. Being a regular it's great to see Luke has brought the local pub/restaurant charm and welcome back to this lovely little country pub.

We had a lovely meal in this atmospheric dog-friendly pub. The food was tasty and piping hot. Our server, Lucy, was friendly and attentive. She could not have done more for us. We’ll certainly be back.

Better off going to Toby carvery. The food was not nice. We were unable to try the stuffing as our forks would not go in it, For the price they charge and how long we waited for the food, It really was not worth it, At least at the Toby you know you're getting cheap food,The price of the roast dinner is over priced for what you get. The only edible thing on the plate was the Yorkshire pudding. The table was sticky and we asked for them to clean it. We wiped it dry with a napkin, When we looked at the napkin it was black after we dried the table. The only time the person serving us came to the table more than once was for payment. Then she was very good at coming back, The place was not busy so we couldn't understand why we waited so long to get our food. We were offered the dessert menu. When we asked if the desserts were as good as the mains, She replied yes. . So we said we would give it a miss then, We left hungry and disappointed

Love eating here, the food is great & for the most part the staff are brilliant. I only took one star off as I always feel like when we arrive, there is never anyone about to show us to our table. We always have to wait 10 mins. Also, they always seem to be out of most white wines. They never have any Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand).

I love this place, staff so friendly, especially Elissa, great atmosphere and food. I just wish there was more staff on, they get run off their feet when it's busy.

Came in for lunch and had a really great time, staff were friendly and welcoming. I had a smothered chicken and a side of garlic bread with a refreshing glass of coke to go with, i definitely reccomend and will be coming again

What a disappointment firstly we booked a table when we were shown to it it was a tight squeeze that you could not pull your chair out to sit as it was in the room with a party. They moved us to a different table eventually. We ordered our food 2 hunters type chicken and a gluten free chicken burger. When it was put in front of us the gluten free chicken burger was a patched up stale bread roll with hardly any chicken on it and we had roasted baby potatoes that were not roasted if they were they had been put into the microwave to heat up, that was it no garnish no salad or anything else on the plate. My partner cut into it and it was cold and sent it back and said don’t bother with anything else. Our hunters type chicken was hot but instead of how we have had it there on many occasions it was a chicken thigh looking like it had broken up and the bbq sauce was so sickly sweet that I couldn’t eat it but the other person in the party ate hers even though it was awful because they were hungry. WHAT has happened to this pub we have recommended so many people because it was always lovely it looks like they are cutting corners and charging more. Unfortunately this has put us off and will no longer be visiting it again. What a shame to have gone downhill like that.

Having been coming to this pub for a number of years, always was very good food, good value for money. When we came last night it was absolutely awful, I’m celiac and my meal was a joke, I ordered the chicken breast burger, the bun was disgusting all falling apart and stale, the chicken was nowhere near a breast of chicken, a sparrow maybe.,no cheese , no bacon and the roasted new potatoes were cold and barely cooked which was an extra £2 The other two members of my family had BBQ chicken breast hunters type yet agin not a Breast of chicken more like strips? The BBQ sauce was so sweet it did spoil the whole dish All in all very poor for the amount of money. Won’t be returning EVER.

Went in yesterday with my family for the 1st time. We were in the area and ( 2 adults and 2 children) wanted to eat. We came at 5pm, and we were greated by a nice lady, although the restaurant was almost empty, we were told that all tables are booked and they only have spces in the pub. We ordered at the bar, and meanwhile the food came, there were no cutleries on the table so for the first few minutes I was eating my squid with my hands. For my daughter instead baked beans, they came with pees, although when mentioned it, they changed it. No napkins were provided and table was sticky as a blue tag ( although it was cleaned before by the waiter ) I ordered for starters, fried squid, which was socked in oil, and even so, it was not cooked properly. We than had to wait 40 min for the mains to arrive, and meanwhile we were hungry we thought the wait will be worth it, however the food was appalling and probably the worst place I've ever dined in. The signature burger was horrible, and the meat being extremely low quality and even the lettuce in the burger were bootom cutts which normally you through them in the bin, not in a burger. My wife had double chicken which was rock solid, rice had no taste other than the chimen, and the fried chicken felt old and oily. If you wish to eat outside than Stay away from this place, you better to anywhere else. If you're in just for a drink than OK. I'll never ever return to this place. Waste of money and honestly I do not know how are they allowed to serve such a horrible food. When I got home I had a stomach pain from the burger and I had to have a shot of whiskey to drag my stomach to make sure I'm not going to vomit.

Met a friend for a drink as had never been. Lovely place! Although our attention was on a couple of puppies in the bar, it was a nice evening. Obviously I meant Dogs... 😉 So, Dog friendly too 🙏🏻

We have yet to have a bad experience in this place, the staff have always been happy and friendly. And the food has been amazing everytime. Seriously wether it's lunch or dinner I highly recommend this pub

Lovely Friday night dinner tonight. Cosy atmosphere, fun and friendly service from Alyssa, and piping hot, tasty food (the steak and ale pie, and toad in the hole being particular favourites!). Great value too, especially with a Gourmet Society card 👍🏻

Nice place friendly staff . So firstly I cook.... I make freshly cooked food from good ingredients.. so I prob should not go to a place like this but it's close to my parents and we wanted a bite to eat for his birthday. Frankly we need to change then name from chief and brewer to .. brewer.. no chiefing going on here.. lots of microwaved veg... ( please if you're gonna use a microwave... and don't!!! Use a pan of hot water!!!! Add water to the veg.. a small amount and cover and steam the veg this won't dry it like the surface of Mars!!) . A steak pie eith tiny poor quality meat! When I asked if my food had been I a microwave I was told yes because of an equipment malfunction.. well I litrally don't believe this.. I bet my boots if I went there in two weeks be same story ...tut tut.. try harder. I was just in norfolk... Hingham.. white heart.. some of tge most amazing food I ever had and as it goes same sort of price... this is just a poor show...

Taken an hour detour to come here today and unfortunately the food was not good and was too highly priced for what it was worth. The sauces were very watered down and the gravy (despite costing an additional £2) was water thin and had lumps of granules in. Absolutely no faults with the wait staff at all, however, they were lovely. Quite disappointed.

Popped out for an impromptu midweek meal using a 2 meals for £20 voucher we recently received. Great value with the food freshly cooked by Connor and friendly efficient service by Molly. One of our favourite pubs for a meal out and rarely disappointed.

Arriving just before 7pm we asked for a table for 6. With no welcome or smile it took ages before two staff members deigned to seat us. Or rather, pointed vaguely in the general direction. We asked for two more chairs and were told by Rude Woman…” you’ll have to find them yourself but DON’T take them from those two tables..” (again, waved in general direction) No direction or help, no menus offered, I had to collect. I asked why it was such bad service and was told “well, it’s Friday night”…..!!!! My suggestion would be more staff! If they expect a busy Friday night, why have one (very slow) chap taking drink and food orders at the bar. We ordered and (ages later) TWO items were served when we had almost finished eating. So, useless to us. I said I wouldn’t be paying for the very late items to the same surly, miserable woman who felt it was an inconvenience that we requested a table for six adults at 7pm. She ignored me but took the late food away. Paying 30 minutes later, the items were on the bill. I got one removed. All things considered, an awful experience, rude and unprofessional staff and surly woman and the dirty looking, long haired chap really did ruin a last minute family supper, after a day of grief and upset. YOLB, dreadful, will NOT recommend and the rude couple ‘front of house’ should really attend customer service training. £200 for zero service, incomplete food delivery and we basically did everything ourselves. Huge disappointment.
