The food was good & the staff were friendly. Plenty of choice and it's nice when the light shines into the cafe.

Had a good look for a pub that was halfway for us and our friend to meet in. The Bat And Ball fulfilled that criteria. As it was a Sunday we new it would be mainly roasts. We all ordered a roast. And what a disappointment it was.It said slow cooked pork belly. We got very fatty tough pork with no crackling . we called a member of staff over and he said, well there is gravy all over it. Yes we said, we did not put gravy on it the chef must have. If my mum was with us, she would have sent it back as she is not a fan. Why do you assume everyone wants a half pint of gravy on there plate. We called him back about the tough meat and fat. He said he would ask the chef. He came back and said, you know pork belly has a lot of fat in it. To say that to three people in there sixty's who have cooked most of our lives is an insult. I have cooked it countless times, its not rocket science. We struggled though it only to realize, we had no burnt apple sauce....too late now. i had one sliver of carrot, one slither of parsnip and a spoon of savoy cabbage, a Yorkshire pudding. Not great for £19. no attempt to rectify it. Oh sorry they brought out some more crackling, but we had eaten what we could by then. The Cauliflower as near as raw as you could get. Very disappointing. Still feeling hungry, we asked for the pudding menu, but at £10 and £11 pounds, you must be joking. Puddings as that price has crossed the line. We paid the bill that had not been adjusted to reflect our disappointing meal. We will not be going back. See photo for fatty tough pork.

Have visited a couple of times but was pretty disappointed with my most recent visit. We were not greeted as we came in and it took a while for someone to even notice we had set down despite greeting and serving customers who arrived after us. We then ordered the sausage ciabatta which I’d have to say is one of the worst sausage sandwiches I’ve ever had, the sausages had absolutely no flavour at all and did not taste like real sausages. This is a real disappointment as they are not cheap sandwiches. Am not sure that I will visit again as I was so disappointed.

Went there around 12.30pm Order a pint of doombar cloudy with a sour test lady behind bar stated in conversation to another staff member it's been playing up all week. Atmosphere nil awful music Sunday should be busy six people. Avoid I won't be going back quite shocking

Wonderful pub with huge portions, really it would be better to make them a bit smaller! The roast was delicious with a very good Yorkshire pudding and extra gravy if you ask. Very cosy little pub with a huge but beautifully decorated annex. Also loads of parking. Loved it.

Wow… what an amazing restaurant. Everything about this place was on point.. Service was the best I’d ever had, the food the nicest I’d had and a real cute and cosy place to eat. I went there with my partner and we were given a super romantic table within the bay window which was semi enclosed - making a private and romantic dining area. We had moules as a starter and it was he most amazing sauce I’d ever had - so smooth and velvety and rich! If they sold the sauce on its own I’d most certainly buy it by the gallon! For main I had the fish pie which was the best fish pie I’d ever had - absolute perfection! Portion sizes are spot on so really good value for money. I was so full from the starter and main I doubted would have a dessert but agreed to look at the menu anyway - it would be rude not to!… anyway, all the desserts are on a trolley which they wheel in front of you - and of course how I could resist getting one! It was a hard choice but I had the honeycomb cheesecake and it was to die for - you could taste the set honey running through it… Needless to say I almost had to be rolled out of there and I felt blissed out for quite some time after! Thank you everyone at The Woolpack on Tuesday evening 3rd December 2024 - absolutely perfect evening and I have zero hesitation in recommending to everyone who is in the area. I’m happy to say only live about 40 minutes away from Elstead so I absolutely will be coming back here!

This is a really great restaurant with loads of great food choice options. I am a pretty picky eater and I had quite a weird ask which most restaurants say they can not do but bills did. I asked for an eggless eggs benedict! They did it no problem and it tasted really good! I would definitely recommend coming here and I have already persuaded a lot of my friends to give it a try. Overall great breakfast with lovely staff!
