Wow… what an amazing restaurant. Everything about this place was on point.. Service was the best I’d ever had, the food the nicest I’d had and a real cute and cosy place to eat. I went there with my partner and we were given a super romantic table within the bay window which was semi enclosed - making a private and romantic dining area. We had moules as a starter and it was he most amazing sauce I’d ever had - so smooth and velvety and rich! If they sold the sauce on its own I’d most certainly buy it by the gallon! For main I had the fish pie which was the best fish pie I’d ever had - absolute perfection! Portion sizes are spot on so really good value for money. I was so full from the starter and main I doubted would have a dessert but agreed to look at the menu anyway - it would be rude not to!… anyway, all the desserts are on a trolley which they wheel in front of you - and of course how I could resist getting one! It was a hard choice but I had the honeycomb cheesecake and it was to die for - you could taste the set honey running through it… Needless to say I almost had to be rolled out of there and I felt blissed out for quite some time after! Thank you everyone at The Woolpack on Tuesday evening 3rd December 2024 - absolutely perfect evening and I have zero hesitation in recommending to everyone who is in the area. I’m happy to say only live about 40 minutes away from Elstead so I absolutely will be coming back here!

A lovey village pub with an incredibly friendly service and diverse and exciting food and entertainment offering. Don’t get many pubs like this any more but it really is a pillar of the community and offers an incredible array of home made desserts! (See picture). A lovely place for gathering of friends and family and I look forward to coming back.

This is a "proper" pub! It does what all pubs should do; it provides a welcome, hospitality, food and above all PROPER BEER! And it's beautifully kept and served. This was my first visit, and I hope it won't be my last. A substantial group us were there to renew old friendships and experiences on Kenya's Safari Rally. It was a grand occasion, facilitated by the friendly landlady and her staff. Thank you for an enjoyable day!

Booked in for lunch after a great walk in the area. The waitress forewarned us that they were a bit short staffed but she needn't have bothered because at all times the service was prompt and cheery. The pub has a lovely atmosphere. The menu is extensive and we were assured that everything is cooked fresh to order and it definitely tasted that way. There is an Italian influence to the menu and kitchen. I had the butterfly chicken in a great tomato sauce, my husband had the veal saltimbocca, my friend had the fish pie and her husband chose panini, which was a full plate with salad. Main courses were served with a full selection of freshly prepared vegetables. We all loved our meals. Two of us chose lemon tart from the full sweet trolley to follow. The tarts were delicious but it was difficult to choose because all of the desserts were home made and looked great! Coffees were perfect too. Everything was served with a cheery banter. Recommend this place very highly!

Went with three friends for lunch on a Thursday. Everything fine apart from a dreadfully long wait to be served. The food was very good and the staff very friendly, but I really cannot excuse the wait. We had to ask to put our order in after 15 mins, then an hour and a quarter before the food arrived. Shame as everything else 5 star. Chap on the table next to us joked that he thought they had forgotten us and another large party an another side was served way before us although having ordered later. 75 mins is simply not on regardless.

What a terrible experience our family had here today that's completely ruined mother's day! Firstly (before we even got there) my mum called to confirm the time of our booking. Mum confirmed the name and numbers. The lady on the phone then corrected my mum and said she had booked for 9 people instead of 5! She just wouldn't have it. Anyway we still went. Upon my mum and I checking in I gave the name and said for 5 people, the lady who received us corrected me! Apparently I should have said 4 people and a highchair. It wasn't what she said it was how she said it, like I'm a child! So she goes to show us to our table at the end of the dinning room. My mum was linked to my arm to aid her walking. The lady then decided to loudly announce to me (not my mum) that if she had known the lady had mobility issues she would have sat us near the top. How embarrassing for my poor mum, who by the way is completely competent. My sister and her toddler then joined the table. We ordered drinks, my mums latte was cold and had to be re made. We waited quiet a while to finally have our orders taken. My mum and sister are both vegetarians. They wanted the carvery with the veg Wellington. So that needed to be made in advance. We were told when they were ready they would let us know. A while later a waitress told us the veg Wellingtons were at the carvery and to join the que. So we duly did so. My mum took hers, put a few veg on as she could barely walk. Then we were told my mum was given someone else's and my sister's wasn't ready. My sister was stood there holding her Toddler. I was doing my daughters carvery and mine, and then was going to do my sisters. Over 20 minutes later it turns up at the carvery! My sister's Toddler asleep in her arms, mum's finished eating, mine is cold as I'm still waiting with my sister at the carvery! Finally we get to our table and my sisters pastry is raw! This is at £26.50 per head with pudding! I also have to point out that they re did my sister's vegetables, something my sister should have been given the choice to do minus her yorkshire pudding. Anyway the food was average, potatoes were strange, all a bit bland. It was empty by the time we were offered pudding. The lady was checking her watch on us. Pudding was OK, rushed! Literally the last mouthful goes in and we get told we had 5 minutes left and then we'd have to leave because the next sitting starts. I tried explaining why we were so long and was cut off by the lady who then processed to walk off. So rude! So we went to pay. By this stage I'm so upset with the food and service. So I start to explain my grievances. Whilst talking to the bar staff the carvery lady walks over exclaiming that we only waited a couple of seconds and were happy to do so. I tried saying it was nearly 20 and the one finally served was raw! Then he cut me straight off telling me I was interrupting him!!! He was actually interrupting me!!!! He was god awful rude!! They way he was talking to us was disgusting. I gave my sister my card and actually walked out! Never ever have I ever been spoken to so badly in that setting. They were rude to my mum and sister after I left too! Awful people!

Had a beer Monday night. Ordered take away of 2 pizzas and fish & chips. Pizzas were fine, the f & c were the worst I have had. The few chips I had were barely warm and tasted of oil. The fish similar. Bad news when the best part was the wedge of lemon. Really poor. And why does the payment register on my bank account as paid to what looks like a care home? We had not been for a while and thought we would drop in for lunch.we were greeted by a very nice and charming lady. Who described all the specials in great detail. Having looked through the extensive menu we decided on the specials. ie the beef bourguignon and the burger. The description far exceeded the meals, bourguignon was a small amount of beef in gravy on a bed of mashed potato and the burger was described with having a toasted bun, it wasn’t just a soggy pile with soggy chips. With 4 drinks £60.00.

Lovely venue and friendly staff, but shocked to be asked to pay £5 extra for vegan/dairy free cheese?? I have never come across this before. The pizza was not good at all and it was nothing to do with the lack of cheese on it. The base was too thin and cracked like overcooked pastry with not enough tomato base put on it. Olives were put on whole and so rolled off when you tried to eat it. In complete contrast, my partner’s chicken roulade was excellent. I suspect the other menu choices are great and would still recommend the pub, but they need to rethink their £5 surcharge for non-dairy cheese.

£25 for a carvery, and it wasn’t even that good. It’s a joke that they can get away with charging that much for a Sunday Roast. Staff ok, attentive but even after telling us the vegetarian option would take 15 minutes, it took 40. Stuffing had meat but they won’t tell you, you have to ask if it has meat. No problem with sauces, plenty of sauces for the meat. Also, the veggies with roast were not labelled so you wouldn’t know what was made with meat fat and what wasn’t. When you have the audacity to charge £50 for 2 roasts, at least give us some reason to fee the charge is justified. Sunday afternoon and restaurant was as good as empty. Probably explains what the locals think of it. The Mill down the road looked really good and busy. Next time I am around, I will give the Wolfpack a miss and try the pub next door a visit.

I spent a morning looking at pubs in surrounding areas for a family meal and I can honestly say I’m so glad I chose the Woolpack , the food was fantastic and the staff were great really made us feel welcome, sadly my husband couldn’t make it but on the plus side I will be back very soon with him , can highly recommend Terena aust

Warm, friendly, polite and efficient service. Great tasting food and not your “standard” menu items. Plenty of choice.

We ordered pizza and chunky chips, it was beautiful and hot, great food, and we were last to leave and the bar tender was very patient and stayed to wait for us to finish our meal and leave, definitely be back.

Really lovely unexpected visit. Great freshly cooked food, incredibly friendly service and would definitely try the pizzas next time as they looked fantastic!

Had a large family meal there but shocked at the high prices for very average food though portions were very generous. But £10 for 2 small bowls of nuts? Staff pleasant enough but constantly checking bar items were paid for. Very disorganised serving - constantly shouting who wanted this and who wanted that - there must be a better way to serve starters and mains? Enjoyed seeing the family - venue lovely and nice open fire but overall it's a no from me!

We live in Milford .. hadn't been to The Woolpack before even though have driven past it lots of times. Went there last Tuesday evening for first time as places we go to in the area have gone downhill recently so looking for a new place. We liked it so much we booked for ( Carvery ) lunch on Sunday. Both times food, quality of service and value for money all excellent. Will be back and no hesitation in recommending it .. hence the review.

Wonderful pub with huge portions, really it would be better to make them a bit smaller! The roast was delicious with a very good Yorkshire pudding and extra gravy if you ask. Very cosy little pub with a huge but beautifully decorated annex. Also loads of parking. Loved it.

The best Guinness I've had in Surrey, ham egg and chips and a meat raffle, what more could you want on a Friday night?

We were a mixed aged family group meeting for a celebration meal. Everyone at the Barn at Alfold went out of their way to make our experience special - the food was beautiful and the welcome and service was wonderful. Thank you xx
