The best restaurants serving British food in Watlington South Oxfordshire South East

We booked a table for six by phone in the morning for A Boxing Day lunch and were lucky enough to get a table. We all had pizzas, chosen from a wide ranging menu and we each had a superb meal. The pub looked great in its Christmas finery but it always is an attractive and welcoming place. There was a real family atmosphere created by the staff, making it a pleasure and a treat to be there. We have been before but it reminded us that we should go there more often.

Country pub atmosphere, good food, and lovely staff. We had the Sunday roast - magnificent. 🤓

A great deli for our pre-christmas cheese shop. They have a huge stock of all those special things we want for the festive table. I might have given 5 stars for food too, but they didn't have a couple of our favourite cheeses this year. I may amend to 5 stars if stock is better next year. Lovely staff.

Easily the best pub for food, drink and atmosphere in Oxfordshire, probably the whole of the UK and quite possibly the whole world. Wonderful hosts, friendly and smiley staff and the best fish and chips 😋 Definitely worth a visit 👍

Had a great Sunday Carvery with parents. Food excellent, portions large & welcome from Chef & staff fantastic. Will be back !

The best pub Christmas Dinner I have ever had ! All four of us were really impressed and my vegetarian option was perfect. Great food, great service, great atmosphere.

Went for Sunday Lunch and food was terrible really disappointed. We were asked as curtesy seconds after plates landed on the table if ok, that was even before we had a taste. We tried food was look warm, Pork overpowered by fennel spice not mentioned on menu or expected on Sunday roast. Shame😟

We went as a group of 14 for lunch, having pre-booked and chosen from the menu in advance. Everything arrived promptly and exactly as ordered and was delicious. Thankyou for looking after us all so well, including the 2 coeliac gluten-frees. Good choice on the menu, I had a cider with my meal, others had beers, wines, soft drinks etc. Everyone was happy, parking was easy and plentious.

The cheese shed is very unique place with a lovely vibe ,we use it as our half way stop on our 12 mile walk in the beautiful chiltern hills. It was our 4th visit ,a very cold day in January so we were very pleased to eat steaming hot toasties ,as cheese lovers it’s a real treat for us.However I did think that the bread was not as thick and the filling not as abundant as previous visits and at £6.50 a toastie this is a little disappointing. I’m hoping this was a temporary supply issue rather than a product choice. Great coffee and warm blankets to keep out the cold which you need on a cold day as it’s an opensided barn. We will visit again.

This is one of the very best pubs we’ve sampled. It’s a classic cosy traditional pub with enormous fire, resident dog, cosy rooms, friendly and relaxed with excellent roast. It’s all a pub should be. Thank you we loved every moment.

Fab family birthday meal & a great evening at The White Hard , awesome menu choices & great service. Loved the Douth African twist potting for the boboti curry 🍛 just awesome. With caramel cheesecake to finish a wonderful evening and just the ticket.

Reassured by the Tripadvisor rating, we were looking forward to trying this Thai pub. What a letdown. Absolutely dreadful food. Avoid.

Good selection on the menu , service excellent, lamb rump justed melted in the mouth.black cod cooked perfectly, and desserts were delicious

Lunch on a grey Thursday. Not very full, which was a pity, but the food we ordered, liver and bacon and a sausage and white beans casserole, was quickly served and both were delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was equally light and lovely. This was the first time we had visited for a long time but we’ll be back. Good home cooked food at reasonable prices is a rarity but it exists here.
