Went for Sunday Lunch and food was terrible really disappointed. We were asked as curtesy seconds after plates landed on the table if ok, that was even before we had a taste. We tried food was look warm, Pork overpowered by fennel spice not mentioned on menu or expected on Sunday roast. Shame😟

Really nice location but overpriced and food was of a lot less quality than we expected . I ordered the fish and chips - it was the worst example of fish and chips I have ever had. Very small piece of fish covered in thick and soggy batter. What also was very disappointing was that they automatically applied a 10% service charge without asking and then they had the audacity to ask for a tip when we paid. The server actually said 'do you mind if we I add a tip' . We politely refused and left.

Beautiful location, great service and lovely food. We went as a family of 10 with two very active little boys in our group. The waitress made sure that they had some colouring to keep them entertained and that their food came first. Very thoughtful approach. The service was quick and attentive even though the pub was very full - including all of the outside tables (of which there are many). Look forward to going back soon.

Just wanted to thank all the staff at the FH for a lovely meal, great service, cosy surroundings and fab view across the countryside. We stayed in our motorhome and were made very welcome. Would recommend. I only took a picture of the starter as the roasted garlic was amazing with Homemade bread, but it was all superb.

After reading the most recent negative review, I have to say I must disagree. My family and I came here for lunch on easter sunday. I had the roast lamb and everyone else had roast beef. It was delicious and came quickly. All the waitresses were kind and had a smile on their face, even though it was a busy sunday, the service was great. The manager was kind and welcoming throughout. Can’t be easy dealing with customers who don’t know what they are talking about. Pathetic. Thank you to the whole team, we will be coming again soon, Definitely recommend !

My daughter had a beer I had an Irish coffee, the coffee arrived lukewarm and in a very small glass costing just over £ 7 I took the coffee back and the young girl at the bar apologised. Another lady ( i'm assuming the manager) brought the same glass of coffee back and said 'here I have microwaved it' and left. It was unrecognisable as irish coffee with hot cream that was sinking to the bottom of the glass. I took it back and explained that you do not microwave cream in Irish coffee and this was not acceptable. The manager took the glass from me said that she couldn't make the coffee any hotter and couldn't make irish coffee and went to the till and took cash out and gave me a refund. There was no politeness or offer of another type of drink just handed the money back with no apology and went to serve someone else. We have always loved visiting this pub but this had definitely spoilt our opinion of it. If you do not know how to make Irish coffee or have the means to do so then say so when the order is taken. Reading other peoples reviews the negative comments are always responded to in a passive aggressive manner.

Disappointing Dining Experience Location: The location of this establishment is undeniably lovely, boasting picturesque surroundings that could enhance any dining experience. Food: Regrettably, despite the charming ambiance, the roast served was below average and disappointingly tasteless. It lacked the expected flavors and failed to leave a lasting impression. Service: Furthermore, the service was notably slow, which further detracted from the overall dining experience. Despite the pleasant setting, the sluggish service detracted from the enjoyment of the meal. Overall, while the location is delightful, the underwhelming food quality and slow service left much to be desired.

A wonderful find. The food was delicious. We were only there for a light lunch after a morning's walk, but temptation got the better of us. Imam Bayaldi (baked stuffed aubergine) followed by chocolate marquise. It would be just mean to remove a star for their one faux pas: earl grey tea presented as an attractive glass cup of boiled water with a separate teabag (the Earl would shudder). Everywhere looks better on a beautiful sunny day, but sitting in the beer garden looking across in the direction of Stonor with red kites circling around was really delightful.

What a nice pub! A lovely old building in beautiful countryside with lots of great walks roundabout, of all lengths. We had eager staff who gave very friendly service and the menu (on Sunday) was great with very tasty 'small plates' as an alternative to bigger dishes. We had haddock and cheese soufflé, scallops and pâté from the small plates and they were yum, the soufflé especially. Thanks for a treat!

Five of us came here on the first Saturday in July. The table was ready when we arrived and we decided to have drinks at the table rather than outside as there were rain showers on and off (there are good views over the valley to the south-west so outside is great on a dry summer evening). The order was taken and the food arrived in a reasonable time. The beer was well kept and there was a good selection of wine. We all enjoyed our food , with the scallop starter particularly good.

5 Horseshoes. Five stars! Excently kept local beer and divine food. For thirty five years I visited very regularly and it was my lifeline from a very busy career in Windsor. I felt slight trepidation visiting after a 17 year absence but I need not have worried. The extraordinary view, sophisticated cooking and wonderful service more than lived up to many very happy memories, and in fact, the food was even better than before. Perfectly cooked hake, mouthwatering roast beetroot and goats cheese starter and the best chips ever! Highly recommended.

Service, drinks and food portions left a lot to be desired, disappointing considering how expensive it was. Booked a table in the bar area with our dogs. Ordered two Shipyard American Pale Ales, they were flat. we told our server, they said "that's how they come" - it isn't, I drink this in many pubs locally, it's a keg ale, it's fizzy. I asked what else they had, the server told me "I'm not a beer drinker so I don't know". After finding out for ourselves we ordered different beers, they weren't flat this time but mine came with a 3 inch head on it, I asked for a top up which I received. The next beer I got was only three quarters full, I got another top up. We ordered the ploughmans for lunch, it was two small pieces of cheese (Dairylea size slice), a slice of pork pie, some chutney and four slices of granary bread - even smaller than the ploughmans another customer has complained about in these reviews! It appears they got a pickled onion at least. I don't blame the young people looking after us, as they clearly were new to the pub and didn't appear to have any supervision or support, but considering the high price point, this experience was a let down. Views nice and pub decor lovely, but that didn't make up for the food, drinks and service.

It was lovely to return to The King William for the first time in a few years. We were made very welcome with our dog by the cheerful young server. The menu had a good mixture of pub classics and more inventive dishes. We enjoyed fish and chips, sea bass and the most well cooked and served burger ever. It was obviously home made, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Puddings of sticky toffee, eton mess and an affogato were fresh and delicious. The fire was roaring, the food was great, staff were super kind. What a fine lunch!

Booked Sunday lunch to celebrate joint birthdays. We all ordered Sunday Roast. Each roast came with 2 very small roast potatoes. We asked for some extra potatoes which when arrived it was a smal dish which contained 4 potatoes which was the equivalent of maybe 1 large potatoe cut up. On requesting the bill we had been charged 4.25 for this. We asked the waitres to remove this but she said she would need to ask the manager. She then returned and said no. Very diaspointing and due to this attitude we said fine we would decline leaving a tip. The waitress then became very moody. Snatched the payment terminal from our friends hands and was clearly seen moaning about us to another colleague. Very disappointed . Had much better service in other places and would not recommend or return.

i am mortified. i was stranded in this area after a horrific incident happened to me. i ran to this pub for safety. i was very shaken up and ran to the toilet to sort myself out. as i went to talk out as my uber had arrived an old woman behind the counter (24/08/24) at around 1pm shouted at me ‘EXCUSE ME, SAY THANK YOU’ in a very harsh and degrading way. i have currently got tonsillitis and it is very painful when i talk but upon exit i smiled at her and this is what i got in response??? this added to the trauma i just experienced. you never know what someone is going through. i WILL be taking this further. i am disgusted.
