Lovely friendly welcome. I had liver and bacon with mash and onion gravy and it was amazing, took me right back to very fond childhood memories. The pub itself is full of character. the landlord was very welcoming and does an amazing job with the beautiful display of hanging baskets which adorn the building. I would highly recommend, we will definitely be making regular visits.

This pub sounded great on T/A, so we decided to have lunch here on a trip to Wallingford and what a very pleasing experience it was. A cosy pub, serving generous portions of home-made deliciousness, which was brought to us by a most efficient and friendly front of house lady We also enjoyed a pleasant chat with the chef/landlord. We're only sorry that it's not closer to home, as we would be regulars.

This pub is an absolute gem with delicious food! I visited with my fiancée and our 1-year-old, and we all left super happy. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, even the chef came out on his own to offer some great recommendations for our baby's meal, which was a lovely touch. I had the Greek stew and apple crumble—both were spot on, couldn't have been happier with my choices. Definitely worth a visit!

First time visit to this pub really good service, landlord was there and chatted to us, staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Only comment about the Sunday roast was it could have been a little warmer, we both enjoyed the food which was well cooked, portions size was large and the extra veggies and gravy on the side was a real bonus assuring we will return to eat again.

The people who served us at the bar couldn’t have been grumpier, and we were pretty sure we were over charged but didn’t fancy facing the barman again to check! £15.50 for a pint of cider and a single GnT?! Popped in here yesterday in search on a non-alcoholic beverage as there was a distinct lack of these at bunkfest. It was very busy because of the nature of the weekend which is completely understandable, however what I thought was rather off was the attitude of the bartender (potential owner) shouting across the bar at customers to organise themselves otherwise they wouldn’t get served, especially as there was a distinct lack of signs showing people where they should be standing. Maybe another staff member would have been helpful? This pub was clearly benefitting from the event outside and I felt the attitude wasn’t fitting for the overall atmosphere. Left without buying anything in the end.

This pub is even prettier than the photographs suggest and inside is quirky and fun. Four adults, three dogs and a small baby with all the equipment is probably not a restauranteur's ideal for Sunday lunch but we were accommodated effortlessly. First up was a bowl of water for the dogs. Then a pint of ESB sets one up for anything! We all enjoyed our food - and the sticky toffee pudding was much liked. Will certainly go there again.

Boris Johnson's Fan Club. Sat at the pub having a quiet drink with friends, a couple of tables from a another group, one of whom was the landlords partner. Their chat was about Boris Johnson moving to a local village. The landlord's partner was arguing with people about BJ being a wonderful man and how people misunderstood him. She continued to spout BJ rhetoric for sometime. After everything that gross man has done I won't be drinking at that pub again. A decent setting next to a park and reasonable beer. Not nice enough though to have to put up with BJ supporters!

I've been here twice now! The first time the chef was on holiday, there was no food on the menu, but there was nothing to say "sorry no hot food being served " We left straight away because we wanted a meal. We did, however, find a very nice pub in another area with a much better atmosphere and staff. The second time we called in was just as an off chance whilst out for a walk with the dog. We had a pint of larger and half pint of lemonade. It was £7.50 for those, which I thought was expensive. The larger was fine, but the lemonade tasted nasty. I never drank more than two sips, then threw it away. We wanted some crisps, so I went in and stood at the bar. I was the only person waiting to be served, and there was a guy serving. He never said anything to me, just carried on doing something, but I'm not sure what! I stood there waiting for him to serve me or acknowledge me, which he did eventually. He told me he wouldn't be a minute and then carried on doing something else. I let him know I only wanted some crisps, so he got them and then said, "That's £1.60" I almost fell through the floor! I only wanted a packet of crisps, not a pack of six! But I kid you not that one packet was £1.60! You can buy a pack of 6 walker crisps for £1.50 so, how can you justify that extortionate price for one? Anyway he put the price in the machine. I scanned my card and went. He was too busy to even wait for the transaction to go through because someone came in and asked him something, and then he disappeared outside to help them! I just thought, what a rude guy and never thought anymore of it. I got a notification a few minutes later to say I spent money on my card, I never looked at it. When I got home, I did look and noticed because he was not interested in focusing his attention on one thing at a time he only put in 0.16 for my crisps! So the advice I can give this rude barman is to pay attention to what you are doing and stop trying to do more than you should! You also need to go on training for serving customers because you are rude! Hence, I am leaving this review, and I can honestly say we will never visit this place again even if this is the only pub open!

What a great find this little gem was! Perched on the edge of the Kinecroft, a lovely green space in the ancient market town of Wallingford, the landlord of this traditional little pub could not have been more helpful with our group of senior citizens! A traditional pub set on the corner of the Kinecroft with two bars and tables outside.,They have a selection of well kept ales, run by a good old fashioned no nonsense landlord that knows his clientele. We went there when Bunkfest was on and even though people were queuing through the door to be served the staff had it down to a fine art so nobody was waiting too long. We went back the following day and the pub was spotless, they have a couple of nights where musicians come in to play Irish/English music. This pub is an absolute gem in Wallingford and well worth idling a couple of hours away in.

They had their food menu set up on a board outside the pub - one that can be moved We ordered our first drink (a half pint of cider) only to be told they were not serving food and we should have checked before ordering drinks - so completely saying our fault - all said with. a sour look. They also told us they had put the menu out so people could see what they did and come back when they were serving - which we will not be doing. No thought to put a note on the board to say they were not serving at that time though!

Stopped by here for Sunday lunch with mum. The lamb roast was reasonably priced, quite tasty but didn't blow us away. The thing that sadly took away from our experience was the attitude of staff about our ice creams. We bought the soft swrve Mr Whippy but it tasted rancid sour like off milk. I politely took these back to the bar and explained but was fobbed off and told that's just the type of cream they use, because it lasts all year, 'that's just how it tastes'. Wasn't best pleased with this response - the thing still tastes disgusting even if it's not off. When you advertise something as a familiar Mr Whippy brand there's a certain expectation of what flavour you will get. I had hoped for a refund or for my feedback to be taken more seriously rather than being told I can just throw it away if I didn't want it.

Lovely old pub next too the village green, very friendly welcome for us & our dogs! Mix up in the kitchen meant 1 eating what looked like a very nice lamb roast & 2 of us waiting for our food! 🥴 When it arrived in was a tad underwhelming! Description was Mixed Grill of prawns & chicken which turned out to be 2 x Panko Prawns & 2 small breaded chicken tenderloin, salad, garlic mushrooms, fries & garlic bread! For nearly £16 I expected too have more prawns & chicken & I thought the garlic bread was not needed! Having said all that I would go back too give them a second chance!

Turned up for Sunday lunch at 12:30 to be told (after we’d paid for our drinks) that the kitchen is small and we wouldn’t be able to have any food for 2 hours (despite the fact there were hardly more than a handful of people before us). We weren’t the only disappointed customers as two other families left without ordering too. For a place that advertises their food so prominently out front (‘Sunday Lunch 12-4’) they really need to get their act together. Waitress sarcastically chirped “bye!” when we walked out. Useless and rude.

We decided on Sunday morning to try the Red Lion for lunch, and booked a table for 1330. We arrived and were met by efficient staff who were expecting us and offered us a choice of table. Drinks were ordered from a knowledgeable waiter and arrived quickly, mine being a very well-kept pint from tge local Amwell Springs brewery. We both chose beef from an extremely well thought-out menu which again arrived after only a short wait. The meat was beautifully cooked and presented on a large plate with very well cooked greens, carrots and a freshly-made Yorkshire puddings. Sides of cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes were excellent, probably the best roasties I've had, and the horseradish was similarly delicious. We both cleared our plates and the side dishes. Utterly gorgeous, go and see for yourself.
