It was lovely to return to The King William for the first time in a few years. We were made very welcome with our dog by the cheerful young server. The menu had a good mixture of pub classics and more inventive dishes. We enjoyed fish and chips, sea bass and the most well cooked and served burger ever. It was obviously home made, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Puddings of sticky toffee, eton mess and an affogato were fresh and delicious. The fire was roaring, the food was great, staff were super kind. What a fine lunch!

Lovely food, really good Pork Belly. Service mostly good although had to comb through the Bill as some anomalies at payment for drinks that we hadn't ordered. No doubt an honest mistake! Lovely open fire inside for the blustery evening, but plentiful outdoor seating with views over the Chilterns for warmer summer days. Very dog friendly! Went back the next day for more food. Update: Visited again, just as great food and really good service. Sat outside and enjoyed the views on a warmer day! Keep coming back, great spot and a great pub.

Lovely atmospheric pub with open fire but disappointingly let down by the service. Had to ask for menus, and not told about specials. Drink order not taken on arrival. The menu choice is slightly different to elsewhere and the food was good. Waited a long time for main courses to arrive, obviously not being cooked whilst we ate starter. Waitress took so long to come and take our dessert order we decided not to have one, or a hot drink. Service charge automatically added to bill. Full of locals.

Excellent Sunday Roast. The gravy and roasted potatoes are perfect, and the portion is very generous. There's a lot of variety on the plate, all tasty. Everything including Yorkshire Pudding seems geniuely home made. Best sticky toffee pudding I've had in ages - I would give an extra star for that if possible.

Came here for a family reunion over lunch and had a wonderful time. Love this old pub building with beautiful views over the Chilterns. Food very good - the vegetarians loved the pea risotto and I enjoyed the crab and shrimp starter. All cooked to a high standard with good portions at a reasonable price. I would particularly commend the service. Although it was very busy we were well looked after by friendly helpful people. Good to see a slightly off the beaten track pub restaurant flourishing which reflects the way it is managed.

What a nice little Pub. It's off the main roads and tucked into the beautiful Oxfordshire county side. They have a great garden to sit in with some amazing views or sit by the log fire inside. Food is class, and service is top notch. They sometimes have a pizza bar out side in the summer season. If your passing it's definitely worth a stop.

Booked a table. Ordered 2 x pie and fish and chips. Waited over an hour for our meal. On arrival pies were hard an inedible, more batter than fish!!! Chips cooked to a crisp!!! Complained and after some negotiations, we were charged for one meal and drinks. Also very cramped, a lady eating her meal needed to stand up and push her chair in, so we could sit at our table. Lovely view, so good for a drink on a nice day. We have visited often over the years with different owner's landlords but very disappointed with the new owners.

We have loved this pub for forty years. Nine weeks ago our order was wrong and one item never arrived. Last night we were mistakenly given lunch instead of dinner menus. The chef second guessed our order and again we received the wrong food. Good organisation and staff training would fix this but at the moment we will wait for the next tenants.

Sadly the service and food didn't match the great location. we waited over an hour for poorly cooked food - overcooked fish and vegetables and then they added insult to injury by automatically adding a tip to the bill! A beautiful location. Food was ok. Had the burger and chips but have had better. I don’t get the service charge though which is added to the bill. We ordered at the bar carried our own drinks then the food was brought to us. We paid an extra £10 for that service. Disappointing that pubs now feel they have the right to. By all means go here for the views and the booze, but not for the food. The service and the food is basic at best. We went for Saturday lunch and picked the pies off the menu. It took a good half hour for them to be served. When they arrived the food was lukewarm, as though the dishes had been waiting in the wings to make their appearance. The pies were soggy and the broccoli half cooked. We were not asked if we wanted any sauces or salt/pepper (I would have quite liked some horseradish!) We shared eton mess for dessert which was served with two spoons, one dessert and one soup spoon! (Are they short of spoons?) Waiting at table is about more than moving food around, it is front line customer service. So by all means go there for the views and the booze, but if you want more than basic food and service....try somewhere else!

Disappointed that on arrival we had to queue behind someone who was ordering their food (for a table of four) rather than at the table. Not good. As soon as we were shown to our table, we ordered some tap water and two glasses of Malbec. The water arrived quite quickly but the Malbec took an age .......... and then only one glass! The second one did arrive a few minutes later. We ordered (just a main course) and. waited, and waited. So far; not so good. After about 40 minutes our food arrived and .....redemption! It was superb. My partner had calve's liver and I had pork belly. Both were excellent and helped pull things back form a fairly poor start. Good though the food was, the speed and efficiency of the service really let the King William down so. if we were to return, I would hope to find some considerable improvement. All things considered (a no reflection on the food) I canot score more tha average.

My family and I went for Sunday lunch (4 of us) and everything was lovely. Roast beef just as you would hope for, Lamb shank falling off the bone as it should, vegetables delicious although perhaps a little predictable, the new owner constantly attentive, which was impressive as the place was teaming with people inside and out. Very disappointed. We went for Sunday lunch. Prawn cocktail was just lettuce prawns and a poor quality Marie Rose sauce the bread served with it was 3 slices of a baguette and not the freshest, and the price was £9.The pate starter may have been homemade but was a few days old as the outer edge was turning green. The main course was ordinary, and the beef was tough. The pork was ok. The staff were OK, but the waitress looked and was miserable. It was a shame, but unfortunately, we will not return.

I love this place, despite the fellow with the tracheotomy questioning me why I park in the car park every time I visit and telling me "it's not for walkers". But on June 2 when I popped in the pub was a disaster show. A young chap behind the bar did not know how to serve a pint, nobody was in charge, foods orders to the outside tables, where me and my dearly beloved were sat, were delivered to the wrong people and with mixed up orders for offerings that were a shadow of what had been on offer when a new menu came in December 2022. Worse than that, customers had waited an age to be fed. We didn't order food. So what happened, I would love to know? The new menu had come in and all seemed fine and dandy with the two ladies running the pub in December 2022 - plus the man with the tracheotomy. The setting for this pub is remarkable, but I have not been back since - almost three months - and want to. But with the price of beer and food these days I can't justify taking a gamble with the food - there is no chipper nearby.

Having booked in advance for an important celebratory lunch, we agreed to arrive half an hour earlier in order to avoid clashing with a larger party booking. It seemed to make no difference because the larger party orders were prepared in front of our four main courses. It took an hour and a half before they arrived. No apology for the wait or appreciation for waiting. The fish and scampi were fried to a crisp. Having waited so long and with a disinterested attitude of staff- “others were cooked before yours”, it would have spoilt the celebration further to complain. Not sure if it was a shortage of staff or lack of training, but the situation could have been handled more positively. On the positive side, chef was prepared to make a sandwich filling not on the paper menu ( though shown on the website). Having come away, we see an additional 12.5% service charge added. This is an ideal location with so much to offer. At a time when hospitality is struggling, so sad that it will be a while before we return.

Nice countryside views, good service, food a little pricey for what you get. Ordered 4 Sunday roasts which were perfectly cooked but only problem the food came with 2 small dishes of vegetables which meant each adult had 3 slices of carrot, 4 small pieces of cauliflower and a tablespoon of cabbage. i am mortified. i was stranded in this area after a horrific incident happened to me. i ran to this pub for safety. i was very shaken up and ran to the toilet to sort myself out. as i went to talk out as my uber had arrived an old woman behind the counter (24/08/24) at around 1pm shouted at me ‘EXCUSE ME, SAY THANK YOU’ in a very harsh and degrading way. i have currently got tonsillitis and it is very painful when i talk but upon exit i smiled at her and this is what i got in response??? this added to the trauma i just experienced. you never know what someone is going through. i WILL be taking this further. i am disgusted.

Went here for Sunday lunch, portions were less than generous so asked for a couple of extra roast potatoes, was charged an additional £4.99 for 1 potato cut into 4 pieces ,I asked for this to be removed from the bill and its was refused ,In retrospective we should have just refused to pay the bill and walked out ,the waitress had an attitude and the manager didn't have the good grace to even come and discuss this with us . Since its recent renovation we were disappointed, but as the old saying goes you can't polish a turd I will not be going back any time soon and would advise others to steer clear of this establishment unless you feel the need to be ripped off?
