Been before and enjoyed the relaxing experienceReturned for a coffee - but this time ordered the vegetarian full English for a brunchWhy veg when I love sausages and bacon?Well. it looked so appealing as described in the menu! And did it deliver!! All three of us ordered the tasty dish and it was simply fab, lacking the 'fullness' after eating the meaty versionNot just the tasty ingredients, but the artistic presentation on the plate, tooOverall, a very special dining experience at a sensible price in comfortable, relaxing surroundingsIf we lived closer, I would be looking for a loyalty card!!

We stopped off here on our way back home from a three day break in Stratford. My husband Paul wanted to visit Watlington to see the Cottage Hospital where he was born and also the first house he lived in as a baby. Having found what we thought to be the correct house and had a talk with the owner we came to the Granary for a much needed coffee! We found all of the staff, owner and customers to be a very friendly bunch and they were all pleased to answer Paul's questions. The Cottage Hospital is now a nursing home. We had a very nice coffee. The Granary is very comfortable with some sofa seating. We did not eat anything but the food all looked very nice. Nice clean toilets. Thank you for your hospitality.

Travelling down to Surrey, we decided to check TA for a lunch location...The Granary was one of the options, so we decided to visit. The greeting was a bit lacklustre and the girls were not too helpful, we had to ask rather than them offer...We ordered hot drinks and our lunch - sourdough with avocado and poached eggs, quite tasty - and were given a wooden spoon in a jar with a number and told to find a seat. The drinks arrived, Luke warm hot chocolate and a warmer latte. Then the food arrived a while later. They had a local crowd in for a range of food and drink and a reasonable turn over for a Saturday lunch. We then visited their deli next door and the two girls there seemed more inclined to chat to each other than us, but eventually they both proved very helpful and we bought a number of pieces of cheese from their huge selection and other items.

On a rare visit to Watlington I found The Granary in a fairly quiet street. The staff member was very pleasant and my order was brought to my outside table. The coffee was very nice and my pastry was also high calibre. The town has fairly narrow streets but there were not too many cars passing so I could enjoy the fresh air and shade on the street. The food on display looked good and the décor and layout created a nice ambience. This place should do well as I understand it has recently been extended and refurbished.

We stopped by chance at Watlington on our way back down to Gloucestershire from Stonor Park and were recommended this Cafe/Deli by a young man we passed in the street (thank you so much). What a find! The 4 of us enjoyed a delicious lunch at a table near the counter (2 of us had the Duck Pate which was sublime). The staff were extremely welcoming & the food selection perfect & they had a toilet in the back of the cafe. Sadly we didn't have room for either cheese or cake afterwards but they looked inviting. However, we walked into the Deli in the next room and bought a jar of the mango chutney we'd had with our pate. An excellent selection of food in the deli & it was beautifully displayed, encouraging you to browse & buy. Definitely worthy of our highest recommendation.

A fun, modern atmosphere and quite busy at the the peak times. The menu is simple but well cooked offering small to medium sized snacks. Ample for a drop in during shopping or meeting people for lunch. The friendly staff allowed us to choose a breakfast item although way past the end of breakfast service. Lots of tasty bruschetta's with interesting toppings and I had a Moroccan style lambe mince dish which was very nice. I agree to some degree with some of the comments that the coffee could be improved, stronger brew, better beans and larger servings would make an OK coffee, worth a special visit. The deserts were shared and unlike one review were fresh, moist anf moresish and I'm not a cake sort of guy.. The staff were great but on the day we went they were hard pressed and could have done with another member over the lunch period - more noticeable for those just ordering coffee or even take away coffee. However the atmosphere is fun and contemporary as us the decor and the attached Delhi worth a look. Unlike the chicken and the egg scenario I know in this case the the Delhi came first.Would I go again - yes for sure and would I recommend it to friends visiting the town, definitely.

I would give 4 stars for the location and quaint atmosphere. It's dropped to 2 stars as I have been in here many times, each time thinking I must have been on an 'off' day but no the coffee is weak and the capuccino a latte. The cakes are dry and expensive and we've even had raw scones. The waiter is flustered and sweaty even when it's quiet which is not very welcoming. Shame.

On a journey to Oxford we made a detour to Watlington to see the red kites and chanced upon this small coffee-shop/delicatessen by pure serendipity. It’s a delight. Its welcome is tinged with ex-pat Australian chumminess and its simple homemade dishes were delicious. We indulged in their nicely-presented chicken and leek tart and over-indulged on their blackcurrant and almond tart. All at a very reasonable price – no complaints about value for money. One oddity: I thought I had locked myself in the Gents but eventually worked out that the catch had to be turned the ‘wrong’ way. Apparently a lot of people get caught out by that – I put this eccentricity down to the cafe’s Australian influence!

We wanted some refreshment on a Saturday afternoon in the beautiful village of Watlington, Oxfordshire and the only place open was the Granary in the centre. It is one of those cosy, rustic, homely places with lots of pretty jams, wicker baskets and plain, scrubbed tables. We had excellent coffee and homemade chocolate brownies as we had just missed (after three pm) the lunch menu or anything hot. There wasn't a large choice but it was a very pleasant atmosphere.
