We were staying locally and came here for dinner. Food was excellent and a good selection of options. Both had starters - Chicken satay and jerk prawns. For main we had pork belly and monk fish with Pak Choi and a creamy coconut sauce. Really nice flavours and decent portions- too stuffed to look at dessert menus. Service was good and felt looked after. A little on the pricey side (£77 for 2 with an alcoholic drink each) but not too bad, especially for the quality and portions.

Had dinner here on a Monday. Food was adequate - burger was good but the onion rings tasted awful and we left them. Kids meal sausages were burnt. Very little Burrata in the tomato and Burrata salad. The worst thing was the atmosphere- can only describe it as cold and frosty. The lady serving our table was efficient but brusque and didn’t crack a smile once. It didn’t have a warm and welcoming atmosphere and we absolutely won’t return despite living close by.

We came across this quaint gem of a place on our recent visit to Oxford. We only dined but spoke to a guest who said the accommodation was to his expectations . The food was delicious and we couldn't fault the service or the humour of the locals who couldn't stop laughing at my husband's ringtone on his phone.

Drove past and the place looked lovely. We stopped for lunch and found a very reasonably priced lunch menu We both ordered the fish and chips - What a delight! Fantastic batter, not greasy and very tasty with a large portion of chips. Excellent service - no service charge!!!!!!!!!!! The chef came out to check all was ok. We were looked after very very well. Will return to try some of the other items.

My family of 7 booked for dinner here on Saturday of this week. I don't want to give a bad review but instead will hopefully give feedback. The location and building is lovely, the gentleman that welcomed us was very nice. My main complaint is that there was only one vegetarian meal on the menu and it contained food that I couldn't eat. I asked if there was anything that they could offer as an alternative but it was a definite no to any cooked meal. I was offered the salad from the starter menu and as I didn't want my family to feel uncomfortable about there being no hot meal option I agreed to the salad but without dressing. We waited almost an hour fir our starters, I ordered the tomato and pepper soup which although looked lovely and clearly home made was inedible. The soup had been over seasoned with black pepper. The salad was basic and arrived with the dressing that I had asked to be left off. I didn't complain about that and just ate it. For dessert two of my party ordered the apple and gooseberry crumble. This had to be returned as the gooseberries were hard and needed more cooking. My husband had gammon which was delicious and another had pork which they enjoyed. The soup was removed from our bill as was the dessert. I am sure that these issues were not standard as previous reviews have been good. Can I please ask though that non meat eaters are not made to feel insignificant by simply offering a starter salad. I am not a fussy person but to offer just one main vegetarian meal these days is not the norm.

Wow! We are so glad we did, it went above our expectations, steak, sausage, gammon with delicious charred pineapple, succulent peri peri chicken thighs, roasted tomatoes , garlic mushroom, chips & side salad and a lovely bottle of Malbac! It was devine! Friendly, welcoming staff and a good old country pub feel, we will be back to try more! Oh and we also won a free pudding for booking during black Friday week, the apple & fruit crumble was huge and delicious, my partner had the ginger sticky toffee which was surprisingly light and tasty. The shower in the en-suite was so clean you’d think it was new, we were literally gobsmacked. The beds were so comfortable we slept like a dream. We had an evening meal which was absolutely delicious, we couldn’t fault anything. My broccoli was the best I’ve ever eaten and the slow roasted pork belly was melt in the mouth. It was a treat to walk into this pub and be greeted (by a young woman called Donna) with a wide smile in these mask-wearing times. (It reached the eyes, so you knew that it was genuine). And so it continued. We were camping in the historic church nearby (yes! - St Katherine's, under the management of the Churches Conservation Trust) and called in to collect the key. Returned for a very pleasant supper - nothing fancy-schmansy, no gastropub specials, just a pub menu featuring generous portions of traditional favourites - prawn cocktail, steak, scampi and chips, etc.) served by very pleasant and attentive young women, including afore-mentioned Donna. We returned next morning for an abundant and generous breakfast - served with enthusiasm - once again by Donna. Bliss. This looks like a lovely pub - plenty of garden spaces, olde worlde bar and restaurant, and the cleanest loos I've seen in any pub since forever.Highly recommended. Would visit again if in the neighbourhood - and, since they also let rooms, might even make it a special trip.

Our first trip out post Covid Lockdown and we were not disappointed. We had a lovely welcome and shown straight to our pre booked table. A track and trace record was taken on the waitress' phone and our food order selected from a disposable menu. The whole place was immaculate having been redecorated during lock down. Our drinks were brought to table. This was my first hand pulled real ale pint and my wife's first seriously quaffable White Zinfandel. Our first real drinks since the end of February. Sublime! The menu was varied and the food was of this establishment's usual excellent standard. Freshly prepared promptly served, piping hot, good sized portions. Delicious. Our heart felt thanks to the Girls who serve and our Landlord Host. When told condiments were confined to cater pack sachets for hygiene reasons, my wife's disappointment was discretely noted by our waitress. A few minutes later a portion of the chef's hand crafted tartare sauce was brought to table. On another table a diner with gluten intolerance received a hand battered fish fillet made with gluten free flour. Such attention to detail. Thank you Coach and Horses for such caring hospitality.

The rest of the building was split into three rooms for dining. The restaurant was still busy and there were plenty of enthusiastic young boys and girls serving. The barman was unsmiling and for a moment I thought we were back in Prague !There was also an outdoor terrace with an alcove for smokers, and the car park has plenty of space. There were a couple of cask ales available ( Loddon and Abingdon Bridge ) but I went for the Cotswolds Pale Ale from Hook Norton which was OK.Overall, a pleasant afternoon

Taken out for a birthday treat I chose to return to a venue I had visited in the past for dinner. The food was outstanding, particularly the Calamari starter - mouthwateringly magnificent! Wonderful menu choice and every dish that we had was cooked to perfection. Must be one of the best truly affordable restaurants within 30 miles of Oxford. Wish I lived next door.

We came up for a special event nearby. The Coach and Horses is charming. Great location, very quiet. Room was very clean, had everything we needed. The towels, pillows and sheets were great. Two single beds shoved together to make a big bed- very comfortable. The front desk was very helpful, breakfast was fresh and yummy. Nothing was a problem. If I had one issue- the bathroom was very nice- but the shower was old and weird. But worked and we called it charm. Highly recommend.

The menu was very good. The mackeral starter was lovely with a nice salad and dressing. For the main course three of us had the guinea fowl and the others had pork medallions and a beef stroganoff. All were tasty and the desserts were very good too especially the cheese board and the home made ice creams. Service was friendly and helpful eg providing custard instead of cream. The log fire was very welcoming on a cold day. We will be back.

We went here for dinner with friends and were seated promptly and our orders taken in a reasonable amount of time. The food was served hot and didn’t take too long to arrive. The only slight delay with service was when we wanted the bill but everyone was polite, friendly, happy and professional which made for a nice atmosphere. We were limited for choice on the menu but that might just be us being fussy. The food was tasty and fair value for money. Portions were generous especially the desserts.

My friend and I decided to try lunch somewhere we have never been before. We chose The Leathern Bottle in Lewknor and we was pleasantly surprised. Service was lovely, restaurant had a nice little buzz to it and food was nice. We will definitely be returning.

Had lunch with Friends, food was excellent, and staff were friendly I had smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, there was ample smoked salmon which makes a lovely change from other similar sandwiches I've brought from other places . Would go again

We decided on Sunday morning to try the Red Lion for lunch, and booked a table for 1330. We arrived and were met by efficient staff who were expecting us and offered us a choice of table. Drinks were ordered from a knowledgeable waiter and arrived quickly, mine being a very well-kept pint from tge local Amwell Springs brewery. We both chose beef from an extremely well thought-out menu which again arrived after only a short wait. The meat was beautifully cooked and presented on a large plate with very well cooked greens, carrots and a freshly-made Yorkshire puddings. Sides of cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes were excellent, probably the best roasties I've had, and the horseradish was similarly delicious. We both cleared our plates and the side dishes. Utterly gorgeous, go and see for yourself.
