Stayed overnight following a business meeting, stayed for Sunday dinner which we really enjoyed, with very good, friendly service from the ladies. The following morning we were asked to help ourselves to the usual cereals etc but we were offered no options, other than a cooked breakfast, so we both had the breakfast, whilst I would have, perhaps preferred a smaller plate, like scrambled eggs, the full breakfast was good, plenty of toast and a pot of coffee. Our room, upstairs, was “cosy” but perfectly adequate for a night, the bed was very comfy, which is the main thing but we did note that the downstairs rooms (the ones shown on the website) were “nicer” - perhaps it was just that turquoise painted furniture that alienated me 🤣 so thank you to the Peacock team…..five stars given for a good nights sleep, friendly service and especially your very enjoyable food. Happy to recommend you. Thank you

My partner and I Stayed over at the peacock country inn. On arrival we were greeted by Emma, such a lovely warm welcome. A good friend had called and arranged ahead of our arrival to supprise us with a bottle of bubbly and a couple of ales in our room, which Emma handled with great care and attention. It really captured a special moment for us. The service received was second to none, the hotel & grounds are beautiful and Emma's team are equally amazing! Thank you for your hospitality, it's greatly appreciated. Hopefully we will see you again soon.

Stayed in room 25. It was spacious and very clean and well kept. There's plenty of sockets, a large fan and a heater. Views from the room are fantastic. The bathroom was well stocked and the shower is quite powerful. The restaurant food is excellent with a good choice on the menu. The owner and staff was very polite and helpful. It's set in the countryside and is ideal location for a visit to the Chilterns. I would highly recommend. Worth a stay.

We ate Sunday lunch at The Peacock last weekend, and it was amazing. The roast was perfectly cooked, as was the Yorkshire pudding. We both also thoroughly enjoyed the desserts, which we don't normally eat. It's been a few years since we at here, because we are no longer local, but it was even better than we remembered. Can't wait to visit again. An excellent meal, and excellent service, thank you!

We stayed for two nights with our daughter and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Emma's friendly welcome got us off to a great start. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the patio doors were a bonus allowing us to sit outside and enjoy the view. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent - a varied menu with something for everyone and beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were, without exception, friendly and attentive. The whole experience was enjoyable and we would definitely recommend this family run and family friendly country inn.

We've dined here multiple times and have had good experiences... until the last time, when we were a large group. We had to ask for the menus, then ask to order. We had to wait over an hour between being seated and receiving our food. This is understandable when the restaurant is full but it was virtually empty. When the food came, it really wasn't up to its normal standard: tiny portions and overcooked, tough meat. We passed on dessert! We will return because it's generally much better than our latest experience, with friendly and efficient staff and good meals. Let's hope this was a blip. Update: we've since returned: overcooked burgers in burned buns, minimal chips, tough gammon. The fish pie and risotto were good. Differing portion sizes; e.g., we were advised to have the small fish and chips but the large fish pie! Desserts were an eye-watering £8.25 - we passed! Staff were friendly. We wouldn't choose to return here, due to the poor quality of cooking and over-inflated prices.

Three of us went for Sunday roast at the Peacock Inn at 4pm and despite booking in advance, no roast beef left so had the turkey. The food is excellent. If you have 3 courses it will set you back approx £29 each. We had two courses each and it cost £71.79 plus extra with drinks so a tad expensive. The berry pavlova is delicious and the others had the chocolate brownie. The only reason for 4* is the interior was disappointing and needs updating, chairs had rips but dont let this put you off. Didn't stay here but there is accommodation. This inn is nice for a treat in the countryside and easy to find.

Attending an event in nearby Chinnor we were recommended The Peacock. On arrival Parking was straightforward however May be busy during restaurant opening times I saw no EV charging. We went into enjoy our relaxed overnight stay in this picturesque setting. The room was functional and comfortable with plenty of hanging space and storage for both of us. There was excellent WI-FI , which when we visited was free, although the network is not secure. What made the room particularly pleasant was the opening French doors onto a patio area with views over open fields, no traffic noise here. The approach road , which isn’t a through road, leads only to a quiet residential street All of the staff we met were polite and courteous, queries and requests were dealt with efficiently. The housekeeping was also of a high standard. The adjoining restaurant provided a freshly cooked breakfast with quality produce. We also had an evening meal there for convenience. The Menu was varied enough to offer something for most and was cooked to a high standard. I would recommend checking kitchen opening times as well as booking meals as the restaurant is popular with those from the local area .

Turned up at The Peacock this afternoon at 2.40 and asked to sit in the garden and have a drink with a friend. Middle aged gentleman refused saying they were winding up their service even though their sign clearly said that they were open until 3.30. No explanation or apology and when we reiterated that we only wanted to buy drinks not food we were again met with, " we are winding up our service." I would have thought after a prolonged lockdown establishments would have been glad of the custom but it would appear not. So, if you are thirsty I would suggest looking elsewhere. My husband and I made a return trip for lunch, and it was just delicious! All very covid aware, and felt safe. Staff were welcoming and attentive, and made us feel comfortable. I often choose fish pie if it's offered, and this was the best I've eaten anywhere. I chose the small option, and it was plenty. Good fish and prawns, spinach, wonderfully rich sauce and lovely cheesy mashed potato on top. I think the cheese might have been gruyere. So good! My husband had beef and ale pie - clearly hand made. The beef had been cooked for 7 hours, so was tender and with no fat or gristle. And it was served with a generous jug of extra gravy! Already planning our return! Thank you to the team!

The quality of the food here is very good, being a smart country hotel and restaurant, with a proper chef.It is more expensive than most regular pubs, but still represents good value for money because of the quality. Standout dishes are Steak and Ale Pie (at £15.95 it is a proper pie with pastry on all sides and the best I have come across so far) and Chicken and Chorizo Risotto (£14.95).Beer is good quality but a bit of a limited selection (Doom Bar and Side Pocket usually on offer), which is better than trying to serve too many x the actual demand!

We have been going to this lovely country pub/hotel regularly for sunday lunches over the past few years. The price has risen considerably but we think it is still good value for money. the quality of the food is excellent although the yorkshire pudding is rather large and dominates the plate. I have never managed to eat all mine although my partner finishes his off ok. One small slight area for improvement i think is the quantity of fresh veg given. It doesn't equate to the size of the yorkshire pudding and we alwaysfeel we could have managed a few more greens! Have been here 3 times now when i meet up with a old friend and have to tell you what an amazing place. Its off the beaten path and in a lovely little village. The staff have got to no us even though we have only been there 3 times over a 6 month period. They are so friendly and helpful. The food is high quality and not over the top on cost. Everything on the menu i want to have and so hard to chose what to have.

My work put me up for a week and 2 days in this Inn. The staff are extremely helpful, very polite, curteous. The food is very nice and tasty. Rooms are clean, everything you could need it provided. Plenty of parking outside!

Whenever my family is down we will most likely come here. friendly and welcoming staff along with some great meal options for both omnivores and vegans! The vegan risotto and stir fry option have to be my favourite! definitely recommend this place to anyone, plus any vegans looks for a cosy place to grab a bite to eat!

We booked a table for 9 people, for lunch. Everyone arrived and were curtiously welcomes both by reception and waiting staff. Menus were distributed -1each no sharing, and we were given time to choose. Whilst considering food choices, we were asked regarding drinks, and water was brought to the table for all. Drinks were brought and food ordered.

Rice and spice night is incredible! Butter chicken curry and a sharing platter that tasted so good we could have eaten it all over again. Such an unassuming place, but the menu shouldn't be missed.

We were staying locally and came here for dinner. Food was excellent and a good selection of options. Both had starters - Chicken satay and jerk prawns. For main we had pork belly and monk fish with Pak Choi and a creamy coconut sauce. Really nice flavours and decent portions- too stuffed to look at dessert menus. Service was good and felt looked after. A little on the pricey side (£77 for 2 with an alcoholic drink each) but not too bad, especially for the quality and portions.

We decided on Sunday morning to try the Red Lion for lunch, and booked a table for 1330. We arrived and were met by efficient staff who were expecting us and offered us a choice of table. Drinks were ordered from a knowledgeable waiter and arrived quickly, mine being a very well-kept pint from tge local Amwell Springs brewery. We both chose beef from an extremely well thought-out menu which again arrived after only a short wait. The meat was beautifully cooked and presented on a large plate with very well cooked greens, carrots and a freshly-made Yorkshire puddings. Sides of cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes were excellent, probably the best roasties I've had, and the horseradish was similarly delicious. We both cleared our plates and the side dishes. Utterly gorgeous, go and see for yourself.
