The service offered by the team at Chilston Park Restaurant - Culpeper's, today was second to none. From start to finish - fantastic service! Compliments to the chef on a great menu with something to offer for all tastes and requirements. The cheese platter in particular, was excellent.

After living in Maidstone for nearly 10 years why did I wait so long to visit. This in my opinion is probably the best gastro pub in the local area. We were welcomed with the warmest of welcomes from the team of friendly staff. But what you really want to know is how good the food is which is nothing short of exceptional. Not the cheapest but comparable to similar gastro pubs in the area and when the quality of service and food is as good as it was I don’t mind paying. Looking forward to my next visit, 11 out of 10! Absolutely first class!! just moving locally

Entry through the ‘ farm shop’ which caters for the more niche end of the farm shop market. Plenty of lovely displayed gifts and soft toys at a price. Took a while to decide what table to place us on even though they were only half full. Menu options approximately £3 -4 more than competitors/ average price. Portion size of our meal was generous, too generous. Our meal was lovely but unfortunately arrived tepid at its best. They did change it and apologise. The kitchen is in the shop part of the building and I wonder if the food stands too long waiting for cafe staff to collect it? Lovely selection of cakes and they tasty great but again pricey.

Stayed here in one of the bed-and-breakfast rooms… whilst the staff were fabulous, polite and helpful. My room was directly next to the courtyard of the beer garden, and it was soooooo noisy . Yes, I understand it’s a public house but if they are going to offer accommodation, it should be well away from drinking areas. My window was literally 5 m away from the tables outside and everyone was screaming and shouting. Do not stay here if you want a peaceful night sleep.

We went as a group of 5, 3 adults 2 children for their Sunday buffet lunch. The function room we had was superb, lovely festive decorations really well done. The food was faultless, large selection to choose from and very well presented. Our waitress was very good, attentive and very pleasant always making sure our table was well looked after. Well done we will return.

Visited today and found the whole experience pretty bad. There were issues at first with ordering - the slush puppy machine was broken, they were out of ham and when asking for a receipt at first the receipt roll didn't work. To be fair, the lady who served us was very pleasant and apologetic as were all the waiting staff. Anyway, we were told our food would be 30 minute wait, which we were ok with. 50 minutes went by and no food. I asked a waitress if they could give some sort of indication on how much longer the food will be, the lady said they would check. 10 minutes went past and the waitress didn't come back. We had now been waiting over an hour with no indication with how long the food would be. We ended up getting the food 1hr 10 mins after we ordered it. My daughter had the kids cheeseburger. This was inedible, it was overcooked and tasted gross, none of this got eaten. We saw another woman got a refund for the same burger but at this point there was a huge queue at the bar and we didn't want to wait any longer. My club sandwich was £10.95, it didn't look great and certainly didn't seem value for money (see photo), to be fair it tasted nice. My dad had the scampi which was £13.95. He said it tasted nice but the portion of scampi seemed very small for the amount he got. All in all, a very bad experience was had. Its a shame because the crazy golf was so good.

If you're walking in the country park then this is a very good place to stop for a coffee. The lady serving was very friendly and helpful. The coffee was freshly made and was good. Cakes, crisps and biscuits were also available and there is also a table where you can sit and take a rest.

I COULD NOT RATE THIS PLACE ENOUGH! Tucked away like a hidden gem, The Yew Tree is the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer. This quaint little bar effortlessly blends charm with character, offering an inviting atmosphere, top-notch service, and food that surprises and delights. The menu may be small, but every dish is crafted with care and packed with flavour. From hearty pub classics to thoughtfully curated small plates, the food here is a perfect balance of comfort and quality. Their signature dishes—whether it’s a rich, slow-cooked stew or a perfectly crisped fish and chips—are a testament to their dedication to quality ingredients! Warm lighting, rustic wooden beams, and a crackling fireplace (in the cooler months) make The Yew Tree feel like home. Whether you’re nestled in a cozy corner with a good book and a pint or enjoying lively conversation with friends at the bar, the ambiance is both welcoming and intimate. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and you can truly relax. The staff at The Yew Tree are what make this place truly special. Friendly, attentive, and passionate about what they do, they go out of their way to make every guest feel like a regular. Whether you need a recommendation on the menu or just a warm chat, their hospitality is second to none. If you’re looking for a bar with character, heart, and a touch of magic, The Yew Tree is it. A perfect spot for a quiet evening or a lively weekend gathering, it’s the kind of place you’ll find yourself returning to again and again. Highly recommend!
