Cafe Rose in Maidstone

Very busy, very efficient, very varied a menu. I happened upon this eatery by chance and very welcome it was too - the food is well cooked and presented and from a big menu. I especially enjoyed the mushrooms, which were chunky-cut. You can barely find a large and comprehensive breakfast for under a tenner these days, but this place [just about] sells one

Came here yesterday with my little boy early for breakfast before shopping, food was really nice and all the staff friendly. Place is nice and clean.

Amazing from start to finish. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The food is amazing, best fry up I’ve ever had. Cafe is clean with a nice atmosphere. Toilets were spotless too. 100% recommend.

Really good food and drink . We had a breakfast and it was delicious, hot and well cooked. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Toilet was clean and had loo roll.

Large breakfast with chips instead of hash browns ( my preference ) mug of tea £10.70 . Not the best but not the worst I've had . Catering sausages do let it down and a sea of beans lol. I think if they stepped up the quality of the ingredients I'd happily pay more for good quality proper butcher's sausages. The beans were salty I dnt know why as I didn't season my breakfast. Staff were friendly and service was good . Its seems to be popular with regular customers. 3 stars for the food and 5 for service and atmosphere.

The Rose cafe is one of the best places to get a fantastic fry up. The staff are attentive, and the food is cooked beautifully.

My bacon was burnt. Eggs were like rubber, sausages were cheap nasty and burnt. Beans had been warmed up a million times and were bland and mushy. Still got charged full price. Used to be best cafe in town. Now I wouldn’t let my dog eat from there. Greed had ruined it

Food was good but too much noise coming from staff and the daughter of one member of staff was occupying a four seater table with colouring pens all over it right under the air con machine It was extremely hot and the girl was hogging the coldest area

Typical cafe, breakfast was good coffee very good, staff friendly, parking opposite. All in all a good experience.

Left home early to start a job in Maidstone so googled local cafe. Found cafe Rose with a car park almost opposite, this was the main factor for choosing it. We were not disappointed, from the moment we walking in and greeted with a smile, all the staff were very friendly. I decided to opt for the fried breakfast and was not disappointed, you only have to look at the picture to see it was not just thrown on the plate. Any future jobs in this area will surely start with a visit to cafe Rose to stay the day off.

Nice food, good service, prices average. think portion sizes have reduced a bit since last visit, which was a while ago, but still a good selection

Ordered a King Size burger & chips. The food was hot and the chips were crispy. What you would expect for £5.40. Staff were nice.

We visited Cafe Rose some years ago and it was amazing.. have returned a few times now and it is still amazing..from the warm welcome to the fabulous home made dishes ! It is excellent value for money and the portion sizes are perfect..we will definitely be back again and again and have recommended to family and friends 😀 👍

Reminds me of Tom Brown's in Benidorm. The food is awful. The chips look like they've been quadrouple fried (or from leftovers) The English breakfast is one of the worst I've been served. I don't get why many cafes decide to ruin a breakfast with those cheap long brown chip shop sausages (not even pork). If they stepped up the game and bought better ingredients then they might just see the benefit of better custom (try adding a Cumberland to the dish instead of that horridness) I'm guessing the owners don't want to pay the extra for any sort of quality which is understandable. Very disappointing although I didn't expect much in the 1st place.

Great food and service is quick

This is a restaurant where you can really feel happy. Good variety of food to choose, they are very well served, mega delicious with a super fair price, all surrounded by an incredible uplifting Greek soul. I want to go back there!!! *** I had the Chicken & Mushroom pasta, I can easily indicate this one, just loved it!!! Next time I will try their Lasagna!! Yummy...

This is a lovely cafe with excellent staff. All super friendly and the food is excellent. Don't listen to the negative reviews, there is no better cafe in Maidstone and beyond. Always busy, which tells you how good the food and staff are.

Absolutely disgusting. Cheap ingredients and all just thrown in a deep fat fryer. Was told card was accepted upon arrival then went to pay was told cash only, when this was questioned a card machine appeared. All in all, bad food, and poor service. The main lady was pleasant enough but her staff were lazy and extremely rude. Don't bother with this place, not even for a coffee, I guarantee you'll be disappointed.

We've loved coming here for many many years. The staff are always delightful, cheerful, and invest their time in getting to know you if you pop in more than once. Some customers on the other hand can be unnecessarily rude to the staff, which is upsetting to witness and upsetting for the staff but they handle it with grace and decorum. Overall, a delightful and charming little cafe!

I asked if I could have a child’s meal because I’ve had a bypass and can only digest smaller meals. I was told we get asked this all the time and therefore you will have to order a adults meal and leave the food you can’t eat. The customer service was absolutely awful, the girls that were serving and taking orders were more interested in flirting and being chatted up by men that came in. I asked for ice , don’t do ice.. The noise and constant shouting made eating very uncomfortable because it was more like a pantomime then a cafe. I thought in these days of wastage that requesting a smaller meal would be available but obviously they’re more interested in taking money then looking after their customers.

Very much enjoyed lunch here today. Moussaka was sold out, but the Guinness and steak pie more than made up for it. The filling was among the best I've ever tasted, and the slice of pie came with creamy mash and a mix of four veg cooked to perfection. The waitresses were charming, and everything was spotless. Tables were well spaced given a relaxed atmosphere.

Went to cafe greeted with the staff sitting all eating which is fair enough everyone is entitled to a break but once sitting eating the staff were shouting and swearing and talking about really inappropriate whilst eating which was really off putting whilst eating food was really lovely quick and really nice I would not return again which is a shame as the food is really nice but the staff has really put me off

My first visit here. Staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. Place nice and clean and light. Nicely selection to choose of menu at table. Table service too and didn't have to wait long for order to arrive. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and will return. Thank you.

I have been coming to this cafe for the past approx 16 years and have never had a bad experience. Portions have always been decent and the food superb (especially the big breakfast) the only thing I would say is that I wish they would do better sausages as the ones they serve let there food down, but other than that... brilliant! Service is always with a welcoming greeting and smile too!

This cafe is a little bit off the radar because it's behind the main shopping area but definitely worth a visit. The interior is nothing fancy but you'll enjoy it if you're a fan of Only Fools & Horses due to the artwork on the walls. Food is hot, fresh and tasty. Reasonable value for money but cash only. Staff friendly and quick service.

If you treat it for what it is, Rose Cafe is the perfect place to fuel up for a day in Maidstone. It's not a silver service establishment, you aren't going to get froise grois and croissants in there, but what it does it does extremely well - good, honest, hearty English breakfasts. They do other stuff too, just my experience is limited to the early morning meals. The staff are polite and friendly and very attentive. Be warned though, if you ask for a Big Breakfast, that's what you get, be prepared to sweat a little and not go anywhere for half an hour after you've eaten it!!

Had a breakfast and it was spot on! Not a bad thing to say, can't recommend it enough!

One of the customers decided to play music on his phone really loud. Everyone was looking round to see where it was coming from and I spotted this guy watching TV on his phone with the volume right up. I asked him if he had any headphones and got into a massive row with him. He was all aggressive telling me to mind my own business. Staff didn't do anything and the guy just carried on so we walked out.This could have easily been resolved if the staff had just said, sir, please don't play your phone on speaker. I was in Wetherspoons recently and the same thing happened and the manager marched over and told the people concerned to switch their phone volume off or leave.Never got to try the food but after this incident I won't bother again. It's a shame ignorant people think it's ok to broadcast their phone to the whole restaurant but this could have easily been dealt with by the restaurant itself.

Please please do not risk eating here. It is not safe. We were a family of 4 who were squeezed into a packed back room. The tables were probably just about 1 metre apart. However I saw no table washing the whole time we was there in between people!! We ordered a big breaskfast and roast. The roast was literally a dried up piece of chicken that I couldn’t even cut, some raw veg and 3 potatoes no Yorkshire puddings. The children’s meals were good portions. That’s the only good thing I’ll say. When we was paying we saw there was one table that was really close to another. The lady serving was asking if they minded being close and she’s fed up of all the corona now. Well I couldn’t wait to get out of there and wash my hands!! Appalling hygiene especially the time we are now. And such poor food. I don’t know how there doing it. Completely banned and will never return.
