Large portion of chips chicken and ham pie and a portion of hallumi for a very hungry man and it is one of the best meals I've eaten in England period. It was meant to be a quick munch but I've just had a experience I won't forget 10 out of 10

Had our food delivered last night and it was inedible. £40 down the drain and just eats are saying they couldn't do anything about it. Myself, my partner and my little boy had to throw away our food and it had a disgusting taste to the chips and fish, and was full of bones. not very happy having spent £40 on food we could not eat and not even a bit of money back.

Most times when I get a meal from here the chips are barely warm. It's not as if I live a distance from them barely two minutes drive away. When they are good it's a lovely meal but that's not that often.

Lewis's is the worst fish & chip shop I have ever been to, bar none I spent £65 and at least half was thrown away NEVER choose Lewis's everything was over cooked even the fish was crispy

Absolutely amazing staff! The kindest people ever, we had a large order and weren't sure how many portions to buy the guy was super helpful and advised the perfect amount and then even offered to drop off more if we needed it. Even gave us a free vinegar bottle, which let's be honest is the best vinegar because fish and chip shops always have the best. Great place i'll be back!!!!

My first visit but it won’t be my last? I’m not one for superlatives but the chicken shish was delicious moist and tender but still had crispy edges. The salad was crispy the chips fluffy centre and crispy outside the whole meal superb. Try it you will not be disappointed 10/10

Everything here is good, but I love the Big Ben Burger (not your average burger!). To be honest, I often also just grab some chips. The best in town.

The ice cream was in with the food, so the ice cream melted and the food was cold, I phoned and spoke to Megan whi offered to send it out again due to the wait I said send it another day, I called up today and spoke to Craig who said he was the managers and one of the brothers that owned the shop and he said I had misunderstood and would send the ice cream out. I explained why would I have accepted that. He couldn't justify that. I explained I had been a loyal customer for years and even previously left good reviews again he said I will send the ice cream. At one point he even said he had to go as another call was coming through. I advised I would leave a review explaining what had happened and he said if that's what I want to do. I explained it wasn't but what other choice did I have. It's really sad as you only know how good a company is when you have a problem and how they sort it out. Lewis have failed miserably and I will vote with my feet and tell everyone else about. Do yourself a favour and use another take away that values their customers. TO YOUR RESPONSE CRAIG. Have tried this fish and grill on two separate occasions. The hand spun shakes are nice. My second visit wasn’t particularly good. They open at 10.30 but I wasn’t able to order till nearly 45 mins later. The Korker sausages I ordered were good quality, however the batter tasted of fish which made them inedible for me. the batter was also quite doey in places. No salt and vinegar was offered either on collection.

Stopped here for fish & chips after a day out with my brother. Two haddock & chips - worst I have ever tasted in my life - and I am in my 70s so have had a fair few. Absolutely disgusting - the fish was not fresh - it was dry and pinkish!! The chips were cold and looked like they had been through the fryer a few times - dry as old bones. Felt sorry for my brother as it was his treat. We had stopped at Papas on way home but no tables - wishing now I had waited in their queue for takeaway.

This place used to be good. But the chips have a weird taste now, and nothing I've eaten there is as gourmet as the price would have you believe. £4.89 for a large chips is extortionate, the daily pie 'deal' which used to be £4.99 is £8.99 - I know prices have increased globally but this is just profiteering

I must say this is the most disgusting food I've eaten in a long while , i spent £22.89 on 3 meals and most of the food was chucked in the bin, as seen in photos, the chips were hard and just tasted.of grease, the cheese burger was horrid, the only decent thing were the korker sausages, i thought this was an award winning fish and chip shop, I will never buy from this shop again, im not a happy customer.

I bought a chicken shish kebab with chilli sauce and a 1/4lb with cheese and chips around 7pm yesterday Thursday 28th July. It cost me £24.28 My husband and I were so disappointed and honestly we have never had such a terrible takeaway meal. I even wondered if you were new owners as I’ve had fish and chips from your shop before and it was really nice. This was not a proper chicken kebab. I think it was thigh with skin on, greasy with no marinade it looked awful just whole thighs cut and opened out flat and no normal chicken kebab flavour. The salad was not great and the chilli sauce was peri peri not chilli sauce which really just topped it off! My husbands burger was not nice at all and the chips were ropey. The meals were thrown away. I would like a full refund and I have never ever asked for a refund from anywhere before. I look forward to your response. To say I’m disappointed is a understatement! I love Lewis's! It's the best fish and chip shop I know because the food is always delicious and the service always quick, efficient and friendly. They also offer a large variety and add new things to the menu, which is great. I highly recommend!

I have never had fish and chips like it! So delicate, so flavourful, so delicious. And an absolute bargain for the portion sizes! Amazing food. And what a range!! The halloumi fries were insane! Amazing.

Really good and fresh food, I love how the chicken was mostly soft and moist, though I dos not enjoy some of the dry pieces. the food tastes fresh and home cooked, and doesn't leave you feeling oily and groggy like many take outs. Also had speedy delivery! thanks

You don't really get a friendly welcome if your a person of colour. it seems like the staff are still living in the past. They got a poor attitude towards people with colour you wouldn't believe that we are in 2024 with the atmosphere in that place really sad.

Wow!!! I almost made a mistake and went to crispinns but it was closed. I’m glad it was closed because I got to experience the fish and chips here. The curry sauce and mushy peas have a nice little twist to them. Whatever it is, it’s sooo tasty. The fish wasn’t oily which is a positive in my eyes. Perfect amount of crunch. My only wish is that they offered grilled fish. I hope the quality remains consistent. I will return and find out. The black stuff in my picture is pepper :) Edit: date is 2/3/24, ordered the same as I did previously but opted for a grilled fish but looks more like a boiled fish, the mushy peas are no longer the same as they were previously and the curry sauce is like water. What a disappointment. Dropping stars from a five to a 3 due to inconsistency

Had chips from here before and was ok, this time round the fish batter was super soggy and the chips were genuinely the worst I’ve had for a while. Shame really, was looking forward to it. Chicken wings and curry sauce were the saving grace.

You've got to wonder who writes some of these reviews.. I picked up a chicken 'kebab' a couple of weeks ago which was just pre-cooked chicken in a flatbread with a few bits of lettuce and cucumber thrown in. It was wrapped up and handed to me only a couple of minutes after I placed the order. I hesitated to take it as I was doubtful it was properly cooked. Unfortuantely, my first thought was correct, because I woke up in the middle of the night with stomach cramps and obvious ill effects from chicken that had not be properly reheated. Without going into detail, I had to take the day off work.. the pre-cooked chicken is reheated on the grill for a couple of minutes, not thoroughly. I went in to Lewis's and spoke to the manager who obviously couldn't care less about anything other than profits. I got a patronising and insincere 'sorry you were ill'.. and obviously no offer of a refund. On leaving, I could see that the staff were having a good laugh about it.. nice. I used to be a regular but won't be returning. Reported to Food Standards.

I’m not one to write reviews but I felt the need to jump straight onto here and write one… Best kebab I have ever tasted - I open the lid to a steaming kebab which is clearly seasoned up take that first bite and it’s freaking heaven! I’m also a massive monster drinker so to open my take away and find a monster surprise in the bag I was like a fat kid in a candy shop! Will 100% be ordering from here again!!

I had a Chicken and Ham Hock pie with chips, the pie was definitely the best pie from a chip shop i've had. Would highly recommend, only problem is it's too far from me to become my local.

Brilliant food as always. 1/2 Pounder with cheese and chips, and Halloumi fries all cooked to perfection and an Excellent selection of sauces. Great service and ready with on time for collection.

Had bbq chicken thighs which were really nice. My partner had fish which was again OK. But omg the chips were absolutely disgusting, really overcooked maybe recooked 3/4 times over, this is the second time they have been like this. Neither me nor my partner could eat any of the chips. Will never get out chips from there again. Not happy

Really disappointed with our meal yesterday. Lewis's are usually good, but the cod that I ordered was more batter than fish, looked and tasted like it was left over from the previous day and heated again. Chips were rather soggy, so overall a disappointment. Not worthy of the top 20 in UK award, and yesterday at least, not as good as some other local competitors.

Lewis s made a old man very happy for his birthday today . We rang up to see if they could take a order on a Sunday (a few days ago ) the gent was so helpful on the phone. So today we collected fish and chips and a savaloy for the birthday boy !! Wow it was lovely, really great cod and the chips were cooked perfectly. So thanks guys I will definitely travel over just to get the fish and chips from this chippy rather than use our local one.

We have a weekly delivery from Lewis's and really look forward to it. Sausages, burgers, fish and chips are always cooked to perfection and delivered promptly by a nice friendly driver. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Not very impressed ordered a peri chicken fillet wrap supreme and the chicken was not fillet! It was thigh meat I feel the description of this product is misleading as I wouldn’t have ordered this if I knew it was thigh meat! Lots of fatty bits within the wrap

Pre-ordered via the mobile app. Order was already bagged up and sitting on the side when we arrived to pick up. Got home and dished up and the chips were lukewarm and dry. The batter on the bottom of the fish was very soggy and, again, the fish was just warm. It was our first visit to Lewis' but we won't be visiting again. Very disappointed for the price.

Ordered haddock fish and lamb doner. I love the fish and chips, and I highly recommend the haddock. Despite having a sensitive stomach when it comes to fried foods, I've never experienced any issues with Lewis Fish and Chips. The fish doesn't have a fishy odor, which is great for people come from vegetarian background because I dislike it when it smells fishy. I also highly recommend the curry sauce. The portion of fish and chips is generous for a single person, and the staff is kind. I don’t recommend the lamb doner, very dry, need more sauce. Not very flavourful.

Purchased fish and chips here early evening. I live 2 minutes from the shop, so was home very quickly and ate immediately - however, all of the food was almost stone cold when I got home, and some of the fish and chips were hard, as though they’d been cooked and kept quite some time. Very disappointing indeed.

Think they've got new chefs. Raw potatoes instead of cooked chips and the cod had clearly been in an oil slick as it was so greasy. Anemic onion rings. We won't be returning.

Driven past this place over 100 times whilst on my way to my girlfriends flat. Always thought it looked good from the outside and was always tempted to go in. Last night i gave in to temptation and i'm glad i was not disappointed. My girlfriend comes from Mexico and had made up her mind that she didn't like fish and chips after a few bad experiences before at other places. With help from The gentlemen that served us, i convinced her to try my fish. The batter was perfect the fish was nice and fresh and my girlfriends opinion has now been converted. Of course nobody's perfect and so i will say i thought the cod was a little small for a "large" and i wasn't particularly a fan of their tartare sauce but that was due to personal preference. Pies were good, saveloys were good, fish was good and the chips were good. Will be going again as it certainly satisfied my craving. I also couldn't fault the fast friendly service. Great job guys!

Never had chips so greasy. They were literally dripping... had to throw them out. They also advertise large cod but its definitely not, its a medium at best, dread to think what they class as the "value/ seniors" small portion.

Not sure how this place has the rating it does, with the extremely overpriced food and undercooked chips and everything dripping in grease. Asuming the owners are delusional as when I called to complain was simply told food was delicious. Maybe we were just unlucky but defiantly will not be risking it again. The photo is of their LARGE cod lol.

I've been here a couple of times to give it a fair chance, but I'm unimpressed. I think the extras are fine - except when they've clearly sat in the hot box for a while and they aren't crispy anymore - but the chips are foul. They have no flavour, they're greasy, and they aren't crispy. The staff, on multiple occasions, haven't actually listened to what I'm asking for - they're on all auto pilot and they're clearly miserable. I genuinely hope the food gets better, because it's a really cute little place.
