Visited the Horseshoes yesterday for Sunday lunch! Had a fantastic visit - the staff were excellent, roast dinner was perfect and overall the menus offered a good range of dishes!

Overall a very enjoyable meal, reasonably priced and delicious. Only downside was both our pork fillets were a bit tough and dry, could have done with a steak knife to cut it, a minor minus against, hence the drop of 1 star for the food

Staff were friendly. There was food on the floor around our table and we were the first people to sit there that day. There was also food under a chair next to us that was old. Wouldn't go back

Visited for lunch today. Really welcomed by the staff with a warm friendly smile. Daisy and Millie served me in the restaurant and they could not have been more helpful , made my little girl smile throughout and was so attentive to our needs. Look forward to coming back soon

Came in for Sunday dinner with my friends. Roast portion was amazing and left very full, sat in the bar area and polly looked after as and made sure we had everything we needed.

Wanted to dine here for sometime, food was fantastic, portions great. Staff were working exceptionally hard no one was slacking, but feel each table or two tables would benefit from a designated member of staff to look after them. Our order was taken, it was sometime before food was brought to the table (appreciate there were lots of covers to attend to) once we finished plates were left for at least 15 minutes until we called someone over to clear them. Then we ordered dessert, it was brought out and we sat with no cutlery to eat it with. Again having to ask, then similar with requesting the bill. No one came near our table until we flagged them over, not really what I want to be doing. As I previously mentioned having a designated person per table or two would work far better! Sadly not sure we'd visit again 😕

Thank you Daisy and Emily for looking after our party this afternoon, and your care and attention to our dairy free guest. The detail provided was extraordinary! Three of us opted for the 3 roast roast (only disappointment was the Yorkshire puddings....but then I am a Yorkshire Lass!) The "seafood" linguine was very tasty! The option of small puddings was genius! We will investigate your sister establishments around the country! Thanks again

Mothers day lunch, lovely selection and what we had was well presented, full of flavour and good portion size. The service was excellent, very helpful and nothing was to much of a bother. Sat outside afterwards as nice sunny day, outside has play area and plenty of space for kids to run around in away from other guests.

Came for drinks with friends and super friendly service from polly and Millie behind the bar great laugh and very helpful

Amazing! We had actually forgotten how good this place is as we haven’t been for maybe a year. Roasts fab.. due to recent gallbladder op I can’t eat big meals so asked for the kids roast (as didn’t want to leave 3/4s of adult roast) which was provided without any fuss. Everything was wonderful, staff very sweet and kind, food fresh, hot and very tasty. Will be back very soon!

Used to go here a lot. Had a kid. Don’t go out so often. Went here today. Food as good as always. Service was exceptional. And, they were so good with our little one, they even got her to do things like sit in the high chair without arguing (which never happens at home). Great place to go on all counts.

as usual the staff were excellent as was the food BUT it’s become seriously overpriced now and i won’t be back as often as i used to be … the amount of trade this place used to do has fallen off and other people have said the same … yes i know everything has gone up but other places we use are now better priced to use .. shame love the horseshoes

Had mothers day dinner here, you can tell why it was busy. The food was delicious. It has a great look and feel about the place too. Service was good but there were a couple of times I had to ask twice for things (water and bill) but appreciate it was very busy. Price acceptable at around £45 a head for 3 adults and a child with a bottle of wine.

I enjoyed a lovely meal in this very comfortable pub with my daughter and son-in-law. I enjoyed the company, food and atmosphere very much. The only improvement for me would have been to have more choice as I am coeliac but the gluten free choices were very limited.

Have been for Mothers Day at 12.00 today. My 2 sons, my husband and I really enjoyed our Sunday meal. Our food was delicious and as good as usual, service was very efficient and friendly and top it all I was given a lovely gift to take away from the staff for Morhers Day. A truly memorable experience, thank you so much.

We came for Mother’s Day lunch today and had the 3 course set menu. Food was delicious we very much enjoyed it. We had to bring dessert home because we were completely full. Our waitresses Abi and Michelle, were lovely very friendly even though the restaurant was full and very busy. The girls had the area covered, the little scented candles were a lovely touch. Many Thanks for a scrumptious dinner.

We came to The Horseshoes for Mother’s Day and it was amazing from start to finish. All of the staff were so polite and welcoming and went above and beyond to make the experience so lovely. The three-course set menu was brilliant and loved by all three of us to the point where we were so full but couldn’t leave any of it! Vicky and Poppy were so attentive and served us quickly and had such lovely smiles on their faces which made the atmosphere even lovelier. 100% recommend!!

My friend & i enjoyed a truly delicious lunch & an absolutely delightful service from James who is an absolute credit to The Horseshoes. James is a young man who is extremely engaging, warm, enthusiastic, attentive, courteous, efficient & humorous!! He balanced ensuring our needs as a customer were met with engaging delightfully with us both with giving enough space for my very good friend & I to enjoy a relaxed catch up. The interior of the The Horeshoes restaurant is also absolutely stunning, exceptionally well dressed tables & eye catching fabric used for very comfortable seating. Excellent choices on the menu, the food was delectable & the mini macaroon that accompanied our cups of the tea at the end of our meal was a really delightful touch. My friend & I are very much looking forward to returning! Thank you to James & the rest of your team.

Lovely Sunday lunch sitting in front of an open fire. Very nice wine. Unfortunately, second visit the veg roast option was undercooked and mushy. Probably, too early as lunch session had only just started.

Lovely pub, staff friendly and very attentive, fabulous food.

Couldn’t really comment on atmosphere as we had an early dimmer and very few people in there, everything else was very good.

Nice gastropub, a little pricey. Nice decor and atmosphere with ample parking. Window frames rotting and need repair, it can be drafty if sitting next to windows!

We went on Friday afternoon, Food was lovely but I was really ill that night, I was vomiting & stomach pain.....

The food was excellent and the service was good. The only issue I have is that it was not very filling. We had two courses, but I still went home and made some toast. In all quite expensive for portion size.

After working 2 weeks solid, me and my partner wanted a lovely evening out. We come to the Horseshoes a lot for Sunday roast but this time was a nice Tuesday evening. Abi was our waitress, fantastic service. Very friendly and easy going, understood guests needs. Thank you Abi. Great job 👌

Wonderful pub. Nice outdoor seating area and really good food. Recommend the dirty burger and the half chicken roast dinner is superb.

Went on 22nd Jan 2025 for lunch (on offer). So good that went home and booked for the following week. Just as good. SO booked again for 13th Feb for wedding anniversary. Truly excellent food. Service and speed of delivery really very good and the staff that we have had contact with are all friendly and helpful. Looking forward to the next time - tomorrow actually.

We booked The Horseshoes last minute on a Saturday afternoon for a Sunday roast the next day. Initially, we were a little concerned that we could get a table at short notice, as most places were fully booked. However, we decided to give it a go, and we’re so glad we did! From the front, the pub looks a little tired, but don’t let that put you off. There’s a large car park at the rear, which is a refreshing change from many country pubs that have sacrificed parking space. Plenty of room, no stress! Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by a lovely young hostess who showed us to our table, a cosy spot by the window next to a warm radiator. Our server, Millie, looked after us throughout the meal, and she was fantastic. Friendly, professional, and genuinely engaged, she made us feel welcome and well cared for. Now, onto the food. My wife had the pork roast, and I opted for the trio of roasts, beef, chicken, and pork. Usually, you’d expect a small slice of each, but not here! I was served half a chicken, a generous slab of pork belly, and a thick-cut slice of beef, all accompanied by a Yorkshire pudding and a great selection of vegetables. Both meals were absolutely delicious. For dessert, we chose the chocolate bomb and the apple tart, both of which were just as impressive as the main course, rich, well-presented, and packed with flavour. If you’re looking for a proper pub meal with generous portions, high-quality food, and great service, I’d highly recommend The Horseshoes. A special shoutout to Millie, who made our Sunday roast an even better experience. We can’t wait to return and try more from the menu!

Our friends introduced us to The horseshoes, and is now our favourite place to eat. The food is great, the atmosphere and ambiance is warm and inviting too. Staff are all polite, kind, friendly and will go out of their way to fulfill any needs you have. Great building, friendly staff and really good food. Down side is that they have no ales which is disappointing for a country pub.

The food is excellent and the staff is very nice and helpful. However there was quite a long gap between the starters and the main dishes.

Lovely food with affordable prices. we were served by Poppy who was a lovely young lady . she made sure to go above and beyond to make sure all our needs were accompanied for . Easy to get to however quite busy so recommended to book.

Lovely food, great quality and very accommodating staff. Abi ensured we both had all we needed and her recommendation was delicious. The only reason not 5 stars was I left a note on my reservation as this was a special evening for us - but this was not recognised or mentioned.

Another lovely family lunch here, this time with babies and again we were well looked after. Food was tasty and hot and waiting staff attentive. We will definitely return soon.

Very tasty food, one of the best Sunday roasts that we’ve had in a. Very long time. All of these food was well seasoned and serviced hot and fresh, very generous portion sizes for the price. Same story with the dessert we had sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate brownie, not a single complaint around the table. Very happy and will be booking a table here again very soon

There was a party of 27 of us for my daughter's 21st and I can honestly say it was a fantastic evening. There was an extra person added last minute to which they accommodated, overall service was great and everything went without a hitch. Food was lovely. We had a drinks tab and a food tab which were all sorted perfectly. Would definitely recommend. Only point I would say is we had no spoons with dessert but we found forks so..... but thank you so much

Visited here, never had any food there but found the atmosphere very nice

First time visiting. Couldn't help but notice how chilly it was in there. When looking around, everyone still had coats on! Had the roast beef. Nothing special, vegetables were a let down. Very average. Service was ok. Overpriced food and drinks.

Came on Saturday , and honestly had the best time in a long time! Poppy was our waitress and was so friendly and made the experience 10x better. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very welcoming.

Service substandard. Waiting to order after 2 attempts (us not making our minds up) what we did decide on, on the attempts was out of stock not mentioned to us prior. Very frustrating. Then after ordering we were informed a side dish included with one of the meals was not available. Food was lukewarm. “chocolate bomb dessert” sauce was cold didn’t melt the chocolate. The cheese platter you could see cheese had been left out as it had gone dry around the edges, the biscuits were more like bird food, not what you would expect to have. Not sure what they were. Empty Glasses left on the table never collected the whole time we were there. Cutlery dumped at one end of the table, expecting us to hand them out. Upsetting as we have been here in numerous occasions and always been happy with the services. Not so much on this occasion. There was a discount applied to the final bill seemingly without an explanation.

4 of us went for an evening meal, taking advantage of the 50% off mains deal. The food was very good but the highlight was the wonderful service we had from our waitress, Vicky. She was delightful - a real gem. We hope you're able to hold on to her. She even turned the music down for us!

We went for dinner on christmas day and i would thoroughly recommend it. The food was excellent as were the staff. We would go again.

Nice country pub/restaurant - Good for families, couples and friend groups.

Poor! Seven of us visited for Christmas lunch, service was slow maybe understandably due to time of year however food was very poor. Squid starter chewy and totally tasteless, both vegetarian pies over baked, pastry hard and dry, filling clearly watery and tasteless, clearly previously frozen. Roast potatoes very poor, pale and uncrispy. Burger was requested with no cheese and mayo but came with everything. We didn’t bother with desserts. Sadly we won’t be returning which is a shame as internally the pub has a lovely feel and a nice ambience.

We were a large party of 12. I am not speaking for everyone, just myself. I ordered the Dirty burger. We waited 50 minutes for our main courses, which I personally think is way too long. When my burger came, it was over-cooked (dry with a charcoal taste on the outside). The cheese topping was nice, as was the bun and gherkin. The chips were over-cooked too, and were way too crispy and hard as a result. I had a burnt burger taste in my mouth for 20 minutes after. I did eat it all, as I was very hungry, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience. We then ordered puddings, and again had a long wait (approx 30 minutes). I chose the Chocolate bomb, and this was very nice. Nice chocolate and sponge, tasty ice cream and the hot toffee sauce was a delight. I also had two pints of Neck Oil with my meal, which was served nice and cold as it should be. The value for money rating would have been higher had the food being better. All in all, an average experience for me, 3 stars.

The horseshoes is our favourite place as a family. The team are always so friendly and hardworking. We visited today - Christmas Day. We were welcomed by every team member with a smile on their face. Drinks were delicious - including cocktails and mocktails. Food was presented lovely and the vegan food was beautiful. Something other places seem to lack. The atmosphere was calm and joyful. Thank you to Lisa, Phil and all out front and in the kitchen for making the day so special for us.

Average food, overpriced. Had the mini dessert and cocktail but was charged for the items separately, when the server was asked to correct this she refused.

Both the food and the service were excellent. The staff were very efficient and our meals over all courses arrived in a timely manner. I would highly recommend a visit.

I recommended the Horseshoes for our annual family gathering for Christmas Dinner after having a superb meal earlier on in the year . Unfortunately we were disappointed . Staff were rushed off their feet. The food took a very long time to be served and then was really not up to standard. Sprouts were hot but not cooked, actually they were raw! Roast potatoes weren't fresh and tasted preheated. No salt and pepper on the tables, we went to fetch them ourselves. The creme brulee wasn't quite as it should have been, crispy flamed on top. Overall I thought the meal was awful and went home feeling very embarrassed and deflated especially as I had recommended the Horseshoes. A few other family members were disappointed with their meals but felt too awkward / to complain. We enjoyed the evening as it was our family's yearly get together but were were mostly disappointed with the quality of the food.

Excellent food and service from the lovely Brandon and Jess. The atmosphere was lovely! Although very busy we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Will definitely return!

came here today for a lovely sunday roast, had the roast chicken and we also had the roast beef. was absolutely amazing. really nice little quaint place & the servers/staff were all so lovely. lost a start only bcos my second bit of chicken was quite dry, but i’ll definitely be back!!

We came for a lovely meal last Friday night. The manager came and did our drink order and was so friendly and welcoming and the rest of the team that served us after were just as amazing. The food was outstanding, hot and flavourful. We had a lot of vouchers which wasn’t a problem and they spent time helping us. Would definitely recommend it.

1st Visit. Great atmosphere, very friendly welcoming staff. lovely Christmas decorations and fantastic food and drinks. Small thing but we had side plates and were never offered bread, which i always think is a nice thing for restaurant's to offer. Will definitely return

The food, choice and setting were all fantastic as always. We all very much enjoyed the meal. The staff very very busy, perhaps a little short-staffed. but they were very personable and effective. My only issue relates to the free bottle of Chapel Down. It's unclear what is needed to claim this before attending. On arrival, I raised that we should be entitled to the free bottle and was told this could only be provided with the QR code. So, I tried to hunt down the QR code, not ideal when trying to socialise, especially as I hadn't received a QR code. The bottle was provided for free in the end, but I had to remind them after we received the bill and felt I needed to put forward my case. I remember exactly the same happening last year; it was like de ja vu. We very much enjoyed everything else about the experience. As an associated note, I ordered a Tanqueray No. 10 with tonic, but there was SO much ice in it that it was difficult to enjoy the quality of the drink, coupled with the amount of time spent trying to find the QR code, the ice then melted substantially and I had a very watered down G&T :(
