Need more staff. We went on a Thursday at 5pm. Went to salad bar asked for bowls told just coming then told they would be 5 mins as just gone into dishwasher. GOT THE DISH then waited for some bits to go in it. So the meal came out and we had only just sat for our salad. The meal was very good and hot.

Many thanks to our server, Victoria - she made us feel very welcome. I had the chicken flat bread, very tasty & my nephew, the chicken stack, also very good. I can't believe the salad bar is still going, a real blast from my childhood and the honey & mustard dressing still every bit as good as I remembered. The reason I only gave it 3*'s for the atmosphere is a reflection on the decor. It is in need of a refurbishment inside with the chairs cracked and the tables chipped. However, for value for money - a lovely place to go.

Busy restaurant slow service very noisy

The service, albeit friendly, was very slow. The food was very bland and tasteless (I know it is only the Harvester). The salad bar was nearly empty.

Great selection on salad bar, staff really friendly and helpful, couldn’t ask for more Only problem is the car park and crossing the busy road, a zebra or pelican crossing needs to be installed as it is a fast road and a lot of children go to your establishment

Bit busy but was Friday lunchtime. Mostly accessible but difficult route to accessible toilet. Free parking but over busy road. Standard fare for Harvester.

Came in on Thursday 14th December amazing service food was great I'm a wheelchair user so very easy to get round but I paid cash and I lost some money while in there phoned up they were helpful but money not found

Average visit to this place. Parking an issue if busy and you cross a fast moving road. Place needs a refurb. Our party of 6 had a booth with stained and ripped seats. Salad bar needed restocking had run out of most items. Most of the food was really dry. Corn on the cob was inedible. We all left parts of our meal. Staff run off their feet. Not value for money, and not the best Harvester.

Absolutely shocking. Ordered food. Didn't have any chcicken left.. so rather than tell us they swapped a half a chicken for a chicken burger. When I approached manager and asked what was going on I got a load of attitude. Then the medium steak was rare and the well done one was medium. So sat at table swapping steaks around.. then got offered 20 percent of food. Absolutely shocking 20 percent of bill.. doesn't even cover the cost of the food we ordered and didn't get. Do one told us no apologise just attitude of the manager because I dared to say I wasn't happy with food

Been going to the running horse for years.does what it says on the tin, good honest non fussy grub and plenty off it! Staff are lovely

Ordered the veggie burger for the third time now, seems o be the only restaurant that wraps the food well so it's actually warm when it arrives, also I've tried the other restaurants that pride themselves as being vegan/veggie restaurants, and they still don't come close to the quality here, always pleased with my order, well done chef 🙌 also for the price you pay they also send you a decent sized drink. Well done

Nice lunch here. Fast service, didn't need to book. Parking can be horrendous. Not many spaces and spaces are very tight. You will struggle with vans and larger vehicles.

Cindy, the waitress was friendly, personable and efficient. Never been to a harvester before so was pleasantly surprised at the salad you choose for free whist waiting for meal. Very different and healthy. Chicken was very tender and veg were cooked just right. We liked the sage and onion chips, novel and tasty. We liked the wall faced with different textured wood. Though lots of people in, we didn't wait long for service.

Restaurant of choice for family meals. Always very accommodating for all ages of diners. Very generous sized portions!! Fabulously chocolatey sundae is amazing!

Harlan served once again this evening, as always a pleasure!! Great conversation from the older members of our table to the youngest. Nothing was too much trouble.

We had a lovely relaxed meal at the harvester. The entire family was happy with their meal and our server Diane was very helpful and friendly. We plan to be back in the future.

The ribs were burnt on one side, the chicken dry and steak chewy, plus the corn on the cob was watery and so not enjoyed. On the other hand the salad bar was well stocked, fresh and popular. We were sat inside but due to the heat the doors were open, and so we got wafts of smokey air coming from the smoking area which was horrible. The service was ok, nothing special. The waitress was very busy, polite but clearly had too much to do as she had many parties to serve at the same time. It was quite a disappointing visit food-wise, but the quality of the company makes a good night :)

The hostess seemed rather busy as she had a lot of tables to serve and so it took time to get orders taken and food and drinks to arrive. The food was ok. Most of it seemed over cooked, the ribs were burnt on one side, chicken was dry and the steak was terrible quality - lots of fat, incredibly chewy. The salad bar was well stocked throughout the visit and was popular with everyone. The main meals were a real disappointment to be honest. There was an outside smoking area however the bifold doors were wide open and we were sat in the draft and so got gusts of smoke every so often which was really unpleasant.

Our host Diane was so lovely, nice little chat with her at the end of our meal and was really helpful, thank you Diane, we’ll be back for chicken Tuesdays!

It was grand for a stop over on the way to the eurotunnel. I had the dirty bird burger my wife had a nacho burger, the childern had burgers and a mini pizza. Burgers were decent, the pizza was a bit underwhelming.

Great meal at this Harvester, made by superb waitress Lucy. Lovely manner about her with customers. They helped us out with a long journey fitting us in early and doing a takeaway dessert for our daughter. Highly recommend.

Had a large family meal, 6 adults 3 children, our server Harlan was fantastic! Very polite, double checking everything was right as it was a big order! Very attentive and also interacted with the kids too! Looked after us very well! Fantastic 👏👏

Great service, good food and nice atmosphere. We had a lovely lunch here today, we came back for old time sakes and it was better than we remembered. Also a big thank you to our waitress Teresa who took very care of us. Look forward to returning.

All of our family got food poisoning!! Including our one year old son! Took half an hour to get four empty glasses so I went to the bar and got them myself! Salad bar was never kept topped up Server was rude Table and chairs were dirty covered in food when we sat down. Honestly disgusting experience and has given my kids the worst start to the summer holidays! Cheers harvester!!

It didn't start well with the table booked not being available when we arrived, we were asked to have at drink at the bar while we waited for the table. Although not good we had little choice other than to wait. However getting a drink was an issue, we waited so long to be served our table was available before we had our drinks. This fortunately was the only bad experience on this visit, we had good service at our table and enjoyed our meals. The waitress was great and assisted with our needs very well.

4 lovely meals at The Running Horse, all cooked to perfection! Stand out dishes were the Pork Belly and the sage and onion seasoning on the fries was so delicious. You've got to try it. Excellent service and food. We arrived without a booking for a quick meal. Seated straight away. The server, Julia, noticed it was our son’s 4th birthday and sang him Happy Birthday. Really lovely experience

We’re regular visitors to this harvester when we come to see family in Maidstone and this was by far one of the best visits we have had in a long time. The food was the best we’ve had here and left us all in a food coma. The only fault we could find was that some of the cutlery was pretty dirty (it looked like it had been through an industrial dishwasher without enough prior scrubbing). Our waitress Teresa was lovely, bubbly and attentive throughout! Nothing was too much trouble. Hopefully we will see here again next time we are here ☺️

Love this place, its the best place for atmosphere and great food. We come here every month and its always consistent. Great portions and cant beat the salad bar.
