Lovely little pub to stop and have lunch although it can get busy at times.The salad bar isn't always topped up and sometimes you have to ask.Staff are friendly and always happy to help.

Had a beautiful meal which was piping hot. Harlan our waiter was very attentive and made our dining experience wonderful.

Fantastic service from the waitress who looked after us, food came out all at the same time without sitting on the hot plate, a much better experience than the last time we went.

Can't get parked to charge in an EV space as the staff always park in them. Salad cart is poor and messy. Food all over the floor around the restaurant. Wasn't surprised after seeing one of the supervisors pour a pint of beer and take it round to the area where the food is made for a member of staff. Surely drinking alcohol whilst working isn't allowed? It all made sense why the place is such a shambles. Wasn't even acknowledged when we were waiting for our table by the members of staff walking past.

Staff are wonderful here. For everything else, it's what you would expect from any Harvester.

(UPDATED REVIEW) Food took nearly 1 hour to arrive at our table , had to ask staff where the food was for it to then be prepared , other customers who were seat 10-15 mins after us were served food before us, ridiculous really , food is great can't fault that but , taking the Mick with nearly 1 hour wait for food , even with a booking system limiting customers food should be much quicker than that

Lovley meal, service and atmosphere, fantastic 👍🏼

Service was incredibly slow, starters took about 30-40minutes, whilst we were waiting we noticed a table needing clearing and took about 20-30 minutes to be cleaned. Very off putting. Mains took about an hour to arrive, had to ask where the food was and how long it would be. Then the final nail in the coffin, over charged us by £50 from things we never even ate or mentioned. Overall, very disappointed.

Had the beef brisket served with mash and veg. The portion size was that for a 5 year old! The meat was approximately 3cm by 4cm by 5 cm; the bone was larger. The mash size was small and the broccoli was rubbery. I finished the meal in about 5 mins and then had to just wait while my son are his! The waitress did admit that it was a small sized meal. Emailed customer service who just stated that the meal was portioned correctly (I sent a photo), so be warned if you order that!

Had a lovely breakfast here with friends. The food is hot and tasty, and the service is great.

Update May 2025 Another great meal and service with 40% off. Update January 2025 Evening menu covers a multitude of taste and is of a better quality than previously found here. The restaurant was very busy as they had a 50% off promotion. I felt the tables were a little bit too close to each other, as I could have easily been part of the conversation to the adjacent table. Staff here work very hard to keep up with all unending stream of guests while special promotions are on. Update March 2024 Prices have gone up again, normal breakfast and unlimited tea now over £10 also it is not possible now to substitute chips for hash browns. Update December 2023 Had a decent breakfast, with poached eggs cooked to perfection. Service was quick and friendly. Update May 2023 WEB booking times for breakfast are not the same as the restaurant, 11:45 latest for breakfast on the Web, 11:30 in restaurant. Good service from staff, meal good quality and we'll presented, could have been warmer though. Update February 2023 Had to remove a star. Greeting staff not familiar with Harvester advertised meal times, we had to prove we were correct, a simple sorry would have been nice. Breakfast was OK but could have been warmer. Not sure why they have hazard tape around some table feet. Update late November 2022, Evening meal, just after finishing our main course we were asked to move tables to make way for a group of 12, had to remove 1 star for this. Food and service was fine. Update 10/11/2022 As usual a great quality breakfast and fantastic service. Plus a 25% off voucher. Normally a great place for a late breakfast/brunch.

In my opinion it was great, very good food, chicken was very moist, steak was cooked perfectly, my wife didn't like her shoe bun ( perfit e roll I think )said it wasn't cooked enough, salad was very good selection free refills on the soft drinks 👍

Absolutely disgusting went in with my partner and her sister and our waitress was very dry torwards us and acting like we were a nuisance to her compared to a valued customer i myself had a burger which made me feel sick later that night my partner had a vegan burger and the chips were cold almost and she did comment on the lack of vegan options within the menu my partners sister had the rack of ribs and had to put loads of sauce on them to make them somewhat edible the ribs were also dry absolutely disgsting and i would like a refund a email with a formal complaint has been sent but no reply or return of money absolutely disgusting can see why the atmosphere was dead and dry in here. my burger beef was slightly pink maybe thats why its sick if this is not sorted then the next email will be to the food hygiene people

Stopped here for a few drinks with a freind for a few drinks and sat in the garden in the sunshine 🌞 and talked about life ,The staff here were very pleasant with a great welcome, didn't eat any food ,maybe next time but all round good experience 😀

Did ask for a medium rare and came out medium. Still very tasty though. Diane was a fantastic and friendly waitress and very knowledgeable on the menu. Definitely coming back.

Very nice place. The servers were polite and helpful, food was cooked well. Quite a large car park, but very small spaces, be warned.

Service with a smile! Arrived just after 12 mid week and we hadn’t made a booking but wasn’t a problem getting a table. The restaurant got busier whilst we were there; however, the waitress didn’t ever make you feel like you were being annoying. She checked in with us throughout the meal, confirmed we had made good choices and got takeaway boxes. Nothing was too much of a problem

Really lovely meal for myself and my daughter today, and we used the Easter voucher kids eat for £1. The restaurant is looking much fresher from a recent revamp in November and our server Cindy was very professional and attentive, an absolute pleasure to talk to too. We went here the other day and it was excellent! Tables were clean, nice waiter called Rihannon? who served us. Food was tasty, and I like the fact they have a salad bar! They have lots of options there like sliced peppers, lettuce, grated carrots, tomato and penne pasta and lots more! They also do bread rolls with a pot full of Lurpak butter sachets! They do lots of sauces and I think there’s an option that you can take them home too! Very nice restaurant, would recommend. Chicken skewers are nice but they do come with big skewers that are really sharp so I suggest scraping it off otherwise u might end up cutting yourself with the skewers. They also do a thing where u can bring in an Easter egg from 31 march to 16 April for Easter and they donate it to their local charity, demelza! Harvester has done good, although I would like to see a bigger pizza on the kids menu like on the bigger bites. Well done Harvester.

Went to the harvester for my birthday and was very impressed. The food came out quick, hot and tasted amazing. Our waiter Harlan was great, friendly and attentive. I was even more impressed with him as I have a fish allergy and he knew that prawns are a crustacean not a fish which you'd be surprised at the amount of people in hospitality don't realise. So good on him. Will definitely be back

Cannot fault the staff or the food at the Running Horse. Teresa was amazing, and on the ball all night, making sure we were okay. The food, as always was amazing, and we are already looking forward to coming back next time.

We had Vicky serving us. Vicky was brilliant. Attentive to our needs, happy, and great with the kids. Our food was lovely and the new menu had lots of choice!

Went for breakfast this morning and was served by Vicky. She was welcoming, friendly and really helpful when I had queries about the food. Really enjoyed the food and will definitely return.

Came here over Mother's Day weekend. Nice and clean venue. Staff were brilliant, very attentive. The only issue was the food. Not the taste as we all thought the food was good, but the size of the portions for what you pay needs looking at. To keep customers returning, you need to offer good value for money.

Pleasantly surprised that the main meals were better than expected. Freshly cooked, hot and appetising. Unfortunately the salad bar was slightly depleted and the salad bowls were removed from the cart at 8.30pm. We had our table reservation booked for 8pm, so this meant we could only fit 1 visit to the salad bar, which was fine, however something to bear in mind if dining at later time.

Four of us booked a table for 6pm. Got seated straight away. Waitress was on the ball immediately. Her name was Lucy . 2 of us had a rack of ribs. Delicious they were aswell. Food was hot and quick to arrive. Great menu . Salad bar was good aswell. We downloaded the app and got 25% of. Great value for money. Lucy was very attentive. Great member of staff. We will be back 👍

Went for breakfast, food very tasty and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our server was Vicky who was very efficient and welcoming. Wish more servers in other restaurants were as good as she is.

Terrible experience. Couriers and restaurant do not communicate leaving the customer waiting and then the food was barely warm when arrived. albeit the quality was epic.

Lucy was great tonight. Friendly and helpful when we asked questions! Saturday off so she can go and enjoy a well deserved cider.

Our table was OK but would have preferred a booth type seat so will put that in special requests box on next booking. Sadly the salad bar was pretty decimated when we got there, but a cook quickly came to have a good tidy round and replenish which was good. The drinks menu is fair and I think reasonably priced. They have a refill coke option which for me is more expensive and really don't end up benefiting from it. The food arrived promptly and was hot and well prepared we had a mixture of meals and order some steal which was very well prepared and not full of gristle which surprised us. Overall we had a lovely evening and I feel I got value for my money. Our waitress was a young lady who was incredibly polite, friendly and attentive so I made sure to tip for service thank you sweetheart for making my evening I hope you get recognised. Table 4 under butcher. 7pm

Massive Maidstone FC game on Saturday, we scored a beautiful 0-0 UP THE STONES!!! harvester sorted us right out, I myself had the BBQ stack which is an orgy of flavours, I needed to give myself some nutrients after a long week supporting my favourite football team so I ate three packed bowls of the free salad they offer. Id recommend the garlic slaw, this tantalising scran sent me back to the days of my youth, I don't know why, it just sounds good Running horse is a lovely gaff with lovely staff a true Kentish haven

Hi, We had a 50% off voucher email and decided to book a table, I mean, who doesn't like saving money! I had rib eye steak and burgers for my wife and daughter. Great food, we cleared our plates, that says it all. We were served by Teresa, what a star, she made us feel very welcome. She made our evening.

Another great visit to our local harvester,the food is always lovely we had the original combo and the dirty burger which came out very quickly. Lucy was our waitress who was very welcoming and cheerful as are all of the staff there. Many thanks will definitely be back!!

Very disappointed with our meals today, chips were dry, chicken skewer was soggy and cold, vegetables were burnt. Salad bar had very little option. And unfriendly staff. Won't be going there again.

Really disappointing with harvester we always book for 14 people so I call to book for 5th April to hear him say I check then hear him speak to someone and heard them say no tell them we are fully booked and heard him say it's half term week not relishing I can here the conversation really disappointing

Absolutely shocking food when I was getting salad all the forks was mixed up and I could see into the kitchen and I could see the chef poking and prodding the food with his bare hands. My partner had beans instead of peas there was about 25 peas in with her beans. Lucking we had a free meal but to be honest I wouldn’t feed it to the flies. This was all after not being able to get half the menu as it wasn’t available without being told beforehand then they try charge full price for part of the mixed grill without half of it. Horrid

Good service and friendly staff. Salad bar looked a bit bland with limited choice. Mains good but sides very small. Cobwebs above our table showed lack of cleaning detail.

Decided to call in for lunch. Was exceptionally busy, as half term. We were seated promptly and our drinks order taken. Soon after we were able to give our food order, again this was delivered promptly, fresh and hot. Our waitress Teresa was super friendly, welcoming and very efficient. We chose from the lunch time special menu which was Well worth the money. Will definitely visit again.
