Popped in for breakfast on our way to The Big Cat Sanctuary. The staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic. Will visit again if I'm passing that way.

I get it was very busy.. we know as been coming for number of years, but food always been great. Christmas pudding was proper cold .. they give new ones out , strangely hot!!!! Worst dinner sadly.. people on table next to us said they will ever return,. So sad as was a great place , expensive but great.. don’t think we shall return.. deputy managers don’t know the jobs .. waiting staff embarrassed as they knew what was wrong.. sort it out!!!

When you are planning a cruise out of Dover and need a place to eat, look this place up. We needed a place to stay on our way to a cruise to Spain, Portugal, and Italy. We found this place on Hotels.com. It is off the beaten path from London. Best thing a person can find is a place that is so much better than you can possibly imagine. We started with lunch. I ordered the roast pork belly, my daughter had the fish and chips. I cannot put into words how absolutely delicious the pork belly was. The cabbage in the celeriac confit were absolutely to die for. My daughter's fish and chips was the best we'd had this entire trip. My daughter was astonished when she tried the chips and raved about how perfect they were. They were so amazing that for dinner we shared an order after our creme brulee. We finished our lunch with Irish Coffee to go. A much deserved nap came next before we ventured out to take pictures of the beautiful surroundings. We decided to order the chips again after we finished dessert. We are taking Irish coffee back to our room. I hope at some point in my life to come back here.

The four-course Sunday Carvery at the Weald of Kent Golf Club Restaurant is excellent value. There was a varied choice of starters (I had the fish cake), the meats for the carvery were excellently cooked and very tasty (with an extremely good selection of vegetables) and there was a good choice of desserts (I had the bread and butter pudding). These were followed by a well-stocked cheeseboard. My wife is Gluten Free but this did not cause any problems as she was guided by the staff as to what was not compatible with her diet. The service was friendly and, on the whole, efficient. The surroundings were very pleasant. We will certainly be going again.

Booked for Fathers Day! Starters were very nice, the carvery wasn’t to our taste! Turkey wasn’t very nice, lots of dark spots in the meat! I prefer nice white meat! Roast potatoes had something salty on them! Red cabbage was vinegary, carrot and swede mash has spices in it, parsnips were hard! Desserts and coffee were very nice! Would go back for the normal menu as the restaurant is very nice!

For what was advertised as probably the best carvery in Kent, all four of us were very disappointed and won’t be going back. There was plenty of food but only nut roast offered as the vegetarian alternative. Service was ‘indifferent’ and the discretionary tip added to the bill. For four courses plus coffee and chocolates, it’s definitely not a bad price but the quality was not what was expected, given the claim!

We booked the Sunday Carvery for four of us & we were all delighted with our Meals! Each course was absolutely amazing! The Beef was so tender & everything was hot & so full of flavour! Everything is so well organised & service was really good! A three course meal & a large Cheese Platter with Tea & Coffee to finish for £27.50! Excellent value! Will definitely recommend & will certainly be going back!

Booked today for what we thought would be the Sunday Lunch but unfortunately missed the carvery. Decided that as setting was nice we would stay. The room we was in was dirty and musty, the glasses we used for drinking were filthy. The food is disgusting not one of us enjoyed our meal in fact 3 out of 5 were sent back and the other 2 only ate as we/they were starving. My sons chicken burger was so deeply fried and solid it was Impossible to eat. The “Steak” burger was no different to a Big Mac and for almost £16 it was a joke, the coleslaw that accompanied the burger was Salty and the fries were so skinny they were hard. Unfortunately shall never eat there again we shall just use it for the golf course.

Just had Sunday lunch in the restaurant with husband, daughter, son-in-law, and 6 week old grand-daughter. We had booked and made the staff aware that we would have a pram with us. Fortunately the tables weren't packed in so there was plenty of room to park the pram without impeding the waiting staff or other guests. I hate eating in a cramped restaurant where the chairs touch each other at the back. There was plenty of room to swing a cat! Our drinks were served promptly as were the starters. We were then told we could go to the carvery and select our meals. All the meats were excellent and the pork crackling was very crackly. There was a good choice of vegetables and everything was nicely hot. The gravy was medium to thick (I hate gravy that is like water!) and tasty. My daughter had to feed the baby so we asked our waitress to hold the desserts, which she willingly did. After desserts we had a good selection of cheese and biscuits followed by coffee and chocolate mints. I would say that this is the best Sunday roast I have had in a long time and I will certainly be back for more.

I came here with family and a visiting family member from Canada, and it was the perfect place for a family Sunday get together. The setting is beautiful. However it did take a while for our drinks order to be taken: perhaps it was a little short staffed for a Sunday, however the staff there were all very friendly and efficient. The food was tasty and very plentiful and they accomodated for a food allergy by freshly cooking a batch of roast potatoes without garlic for us. I would definitely come again and recommend it wholeheartedely.

Living locally the restaurant has always been a place visited regularly for family birthdays, anniversaries etc for many years. However, the ‘service’ has gone rapidly downhill and is non existent: After taking our order menus were left on the table, throughout our visit glasses not cleared once in fact we moved them, plates not cleared had to ask for this to be done and then had to leave the table and go to the bar to order desert as after serving mains our waitress never came back! (Despite our table being the only one in the restaurant with customers). The menu had been updated since our last visit in the spring and so have the prices £3 for a child’s ice cream which consisted of one scoop is appalling! With many other good restaurants in the local area much better service is easily obtainable elsewhere. Really disappointing.

Have just enjoyed a Sunday lunch here. The Weald of Kent is a lovely venue with plenty of parking. The Sunday carvery is excellent value and food and service are of a high standard. There are 4 courses followed by tea or coffee with plenty of choice at each stage. The carvery is well managed and there is no waiting. Meat looked and tasted delicious and there was an abundance of perfectly cooked vegetables . It’s a popular venue but the tables are well, positioned so they are not too close. Staff were pleasant and unobtrusive . We were not rushed or hurried in any way and the table was ours for the afternoon. Will certainly be returning.

Tucked away off the M20 between Maidstone and Ashford lies the spacious Weald of Kent hotel / golf course, with comfortable modern rooms of Premier Inn / Travelodge standard, but here’s the thing : at half the price! With plenty of safe car parking space, a gym, and of course an 18 hole golf course, from the moment you arrive at the hotel to be welcomed by the friendly face of receptionist Sophie, to the large yet cosy bar, lounge and dining room, where Michelle will take your orders and provide you with her friendly and swift service, par excellence, and tasty reasonably priced meals. This is a well kept secret, which this review might spoil! For a first visit then a really good experience, and one to be repeated, and recommended.

Food was okay with good selection of trimmings from the carvery if the meat portion was a little miserly from the chef. The bread roll was a nice touch but a little dry and the prawn cocktail starter was clearly prepped and plated to be left in the fridge until needed. Desserts were nice and the inclusive tea and coffee was also welcome. Overall though we were left a little disappointed as the restaurant did not live up to expectations. A bit tatty around the edges that could benefit from an interior renovation. A pianist would add a bit more class. Service was friendly and satisfactory.

Recently attended with friends to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday. Restaurant was very busy and although booked in for 1.30pm we did not get our starters until about 2.30pm. Three people ordered the melon and palma ham as a starter but it was served without the ham with no explanation. When I asked why there was no ham with it our waitress (Kirsty, who was excellent) made enquiries and returned to tell us they had run out. Had this been explained to us in advance we would have been able to make an alternative choice. Not the best of introductions to the occasion. However things did get better and the carvery was very good as was the deserts. Cheese and biscuits was also available for anyone that could manage it. Overall an enjoyable meal after a somewhat dodgy start .

We spent three nights in this hotel en route from a holiday in Ireland, and found it to be generally very pleasant. The evening we arrived, it was a bit late to go hunting for a restaurant in the village, so we decided to stay put and eat in the hotel restaurant. There was a wedding party in the next room, separated only by one of those folding wall type things, and the music was so incredibly loud that it was deafening even where we were - at the far end of the restaurant. I understand that it was a celebration, but we as guests were paying for our meals, too, and we literally couldn't hold a conversation. It quietened down a bit later on, however. The room was very pleasant, the setting very picturesque, and not far from the village. The evening meal was very good - we ordered the burger and an Indian dish - no complaints there at all. We were a bit disappointed that the breakfast buffet was only offered on the Sunday morning - on the other two mornings we had to order what we wanted, which meant the morning we were leaving and had an early start, it took a bit too long - we could have had a meal from the buffet and eaten it by the time the cooked breakfast arrived to order. Also, there was only white bread and croissants - no ham, cooked meats or cheeses, which are usually provided in breakfast buffets these days. The waiter took our order for one tea and one coffee, then proceeded to bring us two teas. I don't think he was quite awake ;-)

We went for my Mother-in-laws 80th birthday meal. There was 57 of us in total. The restaurant in fairly big and seats many people. There were several "large groups" but despite the size and capacity of the restaurant the food was excellent. The carvery meat was delicious and the vegetables cooked perfectly to order for each group of tables and not just left to "stew" and discolour as I've found before when large numbers are involved. The carvery was £22.50 when we went but this included a starter, carvery (as much as you wanted), dessert, tea or coffee, cheese and biscuits. This was good value for all this food in my opinion. The restaurant was pretty noisy.

In a word it was exceptional!Fabulous and traditional banquet style service and very attentive and friendly staff.£24 for all that food I would think was impossible and very generous with portions too.Lovely fresh warm bread served to the table and starters chosen from a choice of 5/6 starters. Between us we had soup, pate and tian of prawn and avocado with smoked salmon, all served very quickly and delicious but the 'main' treat was yet to come ;-)Main course served from the carvery and today's choice was pork, lamb, beef or turkey all in plentiful supply and as the 5th slice was presented nicely on the plate I was asked if I wanted more, added to the plate then was gorgeous fresh crackling, stuffing and fine roast potatoes all accompanied with the freshest of vegetables and again a great choice of no less than 6 - this all made of for the best Sunday roast I have ever had. After a welcomed break desserts were ordered from the menu and served to the table and polished off with a good selection of cheeses and washed down with freshly brewed coffee and chocolates. We stayed and enjoyed the food and atmosphere for 4 hours with no concept of time in this very relaxed, unrushed Sunday delight. Will defiantly be making the effort for the 1.5 hour journey to return given superb quality and value for money.

Totally ruined our night which we were so looking forward to !

We have never had this problem before. We choose this venue for our wedding, what can I say from our very first meeting with phillipa the wedding coordinator every thing went very well.We choose one of the wedding packages which was very good value,on the day everything went off without a hitch the staff looked after everyone very well and the food was fantastic we choose the carvery and everyone raved about it.We finally got finished at 0045 after a fantastic day to remember. If I had to mark the weald of kent out of ten I would have to give it at least 15 it really was that good.

Sunday lunch is great we go when ever we celebrate a birthday. We even had our wedding here 8 years ago still the same staff they remember you. Service is great loads of choice. Free parking if you have kids bring bread so you can feed the ducks on the lake. Also golf avaliable. It's a great all rounder.

Have been here for private dining parties in great surroundings at what is a golf and hotel complex. The food was very good, as was the service, and the staff very friendly and helpful and their carvery is one of the best to which I have been. Nice to see dress codes are maintained. Have been several times and certainly can recommend for functions.

Had lunch today in the restaurant (NOT the carvery). I booked for 12.00 noon and we ordered our meals soon after. After about half an hour the waitress came and apologised for the delay as the kitchen staff had forgotten our order - which, I would imagine, was the first order from the restaurant itself as there wasn't any one else waiting to eat there. We eventually got our meals nearly an hour after placing our orders. However, having got our food it was piping hot and nicely presented. The portion sizes were good and very enjoyable. I can only assume we were unlucky with the service because it was a Sunday and the carvery was fully booked and staff were busy. It won't put us off going again, but next time it will be a week day and we'll give Sundays a miss in future.

Went here last night for prom. Very well organised. Food was lovely, well decorated, great staff, good selection of wines. A good evening overall, would recommend it. The only let down was the bar shut at 11 o'clock, and the manager (im guessing she was) was a little rude, wanted me to be seated as soon as it hit eight o'clock ignoring the fact I had just been served and had already been waiting there five minutes before being served which was no one's fault as it was busy! However she kept insisting I sat before I'd even paid for my drink and just expected me to sit. Lovely evening overall, cheesecake was to die for :) thanks to all the staff that night for all your efforts.

We celebrated my mum's 80th birthday with the carvery lunch - 11 altogether with four children under 5. Our waitress was excellent (sorry I didn't take her name), she was very patient and helpful with the children and even took a photo of all of us. They gave us a round table near the window so we had a bit more room and a lovely view. The food was very good with lots of choice although the coffee could have been hotter. They brought out a cake which we had delivered earlier and several waitresses came over and sang happy birthday with us - it was really a lovely touch and everyone was really kind - we all enjoyed it very much. Would recommend.

Cannot rate the evening highly enough. Food was very good, lovely staff, lots of party favours and treats on the table, wonderful atmosphere and great cross section of ages. We took our teenage daughter with another family with teenage children, and we all had a great time. DJ played a good cross section of music for all ages, and I would definitely go there again for a new year celebration. Have never been there for golf or otherwise, but I can certainly recommend it for this occasion.

Brilliant evening with the in-laws (ten of us) and the second time we have done it. The tables were set perfectly and also strewn with balloons , streamers, hats etc., for everyone. It was a black tie affair, so everyone was dressed to the ninesThe six course meal was to die for and the food had the sort of presentation you would see on TV's Masterchef final. There was an excellent singer (Michael Buble type) and a disco after the mealI'd go again!

For £20 a head all in, you get a really good carvery (and on big plates would you believe), plus waitress service for the starter and desert and also cheese and biscuits if you still have room, which is unlikely. It's in very nice surroundings too, with big windows overlooking the golf course and I am pleased to say we are booked to go there again before the end of the month. £20 might be a little more than you can pay for a good carvery elsewhere but this one knocks spots off all the others, which is why we keep going back.

We drove down a few weeks ago to escape the " smoke" and after booking in advance, arrived at 1pm for the advertised Sunday Carvery. We had a lovely table overlooking the golf course and were treated very courteously and professionally by the restaurant staff who explained the menu and procedures very well. Starters and drinks were served at the table and then we proceeded to the carvery section where we were spoiled for choice of various meats and vegetables....We were looked after very well and was aked if we would like any more but we had to decline as we had to "leave room" for a superb pudding course. This was rounded off by endless coffee ,tea and cheese board selections. We left there well fed, very satisfied and definitly WILL visit again..

Both he lunches and dinners here are ok, but the best of the bunch has to be the breakfasts! Well worth an early visit for a good unhealthy start to the day!

This restaurant in situated in a golf course with lovely lakes and birds in residence. It also has a nice, informal atmosphere. Our recent lunch there with friends was a good experience with reasonably good food and very attentive service from Kerry and Neil.We might even do a round of golf the next time!

I have just been here for breakfast having been before in 2011 which was OK.I will not be bothering again.1. Get some staff who are interested in the job2. If you are segregating walking customers from hotel users they will need to be told how to order3. Cereals are hidden away but when found they are served best with cold milk4. Change the cooking oil that you have sauted the potatoes in5. Burning a sausage on on side does not constitue cooking6. Toast is best with butter and marmalade. At the price I would expect more than one slice each.Just another example of rip off Britain.

Every time I eat at the Weald of Kent I am surrounded by happy family parties all enjoying a very good Sunday lunch. Yesterday was no exception with a 90th birthday behind us and other celebrations all over the restaurant. We enjoyed a starter, a generous carvery and dessert but didn't have room for the cheese and biscuits also on offer. Coffee and mint chocs finished the meal nicely and when the bill came it didn't break the bank.Yes it can be a bit noisy but not excessively so and the staff are always cheerful. Just remember the dress code, it is primarily a golf club so don't turn up to eat wearing slogan tshirts, shorts or other similarly casual clothes or you may not be served!

BRILLIANT! We visited once maybe about 20 years ago and were very disappointed, but perhaps because that was because the place was being renovated which spoilt the atmosphere. We decided the time was right to try it again. We had a lovely lunch, our only criticism was the scallop starter which was just 4 very small shellfish with no roes, for £16.00 very nicely cooked etc, but an astronomical charge for such a small dish. I had garlic prawns, far better value for £9. £32 for a main of hake and £28 for lamb two ways. A following pannacotta was superb. Lovely meal at a lovely venue. We're going to stay there come the late nights to see how it turns out as an hotel.

Very busy, very efficient, very varied a menu. I happened upon this eatery by chance and very welcome it was too - the food is well cooked and presented and from a big menu. I especially enjoyed the mushrooms, which were chunky-cut. You can barely find a large and comprehensive breakfast for under a tenner these days, but this place [just about] sells one

My first visit but it won’t be my last? I’m not one for superlatives but the chicken shish was delicious moist and tender but still had crispy edges. The salad was crispy the chips fluffy centre and crispy outside the whole meal superb. Try it you will not be disappointed 10/10
