Visited today and found the whole experience pretty bad. There were issues at first with ordering - the slush puppy machine was broken, they were out of ham and when asking for a receipt at first the receipt roll didn't work. To be fair, the lady who served us was very pleasant and apologetic as were all the waiting staff. Anyway, we were told our food would be 30 minute wait, which we were ok with. 50 minutes went by and no food. I asked a waitress if they could give some sort of indication on how much longer the food will be, the lady said they would check. 10 minutes went past and the waitress didn't come back. We had now been waiting over an hour with no indication with how long the food would be. We ended up getting the food 1hr 10 mins after we ordered it. My daughter had the kids cheeseburger. This was inedible, it was overcooked and tasted gross, none of this got eaten. We saw another woman got a refund for the same burger but at this point there was a huge queue at the bar and we didn't want to wait any longer. My club sandwich was £10.95, it didn't look great and certainly didn't seem value for money (see photo), to be fair it tasted nice. My dad had the scampi which was £13.95. He said it tasted nice but the portion of scampi seemed very small for the amount he got. All in all, a very bad experience was had. Its a shame because the crazy golf was so good.

Visited for breakfast on the weekend ahead of playing adventure golf. The food was nice but the staff do not take food allergies seriously at all - very worrying. All food is ordered at the bar, when ordering I advised the lady taking the order twice that I was allergic to mushrooms and to please ensure they weren’t included in the breakfast. I said it twice as I wasn’t confident she was paying attention , I did make it clear that it was an allergy not a dislike, she confirmed she understood. When the breakfast came out with mushrooms on it, I told the young chap delivering it that I was allergic and he took it away. He was back about 30 seconds later with the same plate but no mushrooms. I asked him if they had just been scraped off the plate and he admitted they had. I advised him I could not eat the breakfast on that basis and they couldn’t treat allergies in that way. He returned it to the kitchen for a second time and this time a new breakfast without mushrooms was provided. After this I asked to speak with the manager, indicating the issue and making her aware that the kitchen was not taking good allergies seriously. All she did was nod and agree that it was a good the waiter told the truth about the mushrooms being scraped off. She seemed wholly unconcerned that the kitchen behaved this way and did not take allergies seriously. Had I consumed the mushrooms or remnants, I would have vomited for hours. Other allergy sufferers would end up in hospital as a result of their lack of care which could be easily avoided. That said, the food we did finally eat was very nice.

Went , as a couple, to try afternoon tea as I was looking for a venue for a group booking. I appreciate that it was a busy lunch-time but we had booked in advance. We were offered no choice of tea or the option of coffee and 10 minutes after the tea was brought out I had to go up to the bar to request milk. When the afternoon tea came out it looked amazing and good value for £20 per head. I have never seen so many sandwiches for 2 people, the fillings were lovely and the bread was very fresh. This was followed by 2 full size scones each and the largest cake portions we have ever experienced with afternoon tea. We couldn't possibly eat it all but were given boxes to take the cake and scones home. Sadly the cakes proved to be a disappointment, when eaten later that day. They were all dry and stodgy and ended up in the bin. I booked somewhere else for the group.

Haven’t played here in a good few years , so three of us decided to give it a go. £35 for 18 holes and zero concessions for seniors. Cash only, because the system had broken down. Wanted a warm up , so nipped over to the driving range. The ball dispenser didn’t work , but after a phone call, a very nice guy came to resolve the problem. He kindly gave us a basket of balls foc to carry on with. The fairways were in reasonable condition, though nothing special , but I was shocked at the quality of the greens which were all in a poor state. When you hit a putt, you would expect it to roll along the surface to its destination. Not here. The balls just bobbled and bounced, making putting a lottery. On top of that, most of the many bunkers were in a dreadful state, with almost no sand, and loads of stones, weeds and all sorts of other rubbish poking up. It was so bad, that we had to agree that anyone in a bunker could take a free drop just behind it. At the time of our visit, it looks as though they are investing lots of big money into building a sort of “playtime crazy golf” type area, but it might be fair to say that much more money needs to spent on the actual course itself. Overall, a very disappointing experience, which was not good value, considering the very poor quality of the course. £20 would be more realistic for a course in this condition. Will not be rushing back anytime soon.

I booked afternoon tea for my cousins who came from Scotland to celebrate a 50th birthday. My husband and cousin played golf and then we met them for afternoon tea. The table was set up beautifully, the sandwiches were very fresh with a good variety and fillings were generous. The cakes & scones were delicious. The staff were friendly, professional and provided excellent service. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The whole venue has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Our whist group of 25 had an excellent Christmas lunch here last month. In fact it was so good we have already booked for next Christmas. We followed this up by my wife and I going for Sunday lunch. Again it was superb. The food is excellent, plentiful and served piping hot. The staff are lovely and smiley. All good plus great value. Thoroughly recommended!!

Using a Groupon voucher, this is the first time that we have visited this restaurant located within the main club house. We were shown to our table immediately and given the menu. Our free bubbly arrived promptly. The set menu was limited in choices per course but was very well priced for those not using a voucher - at £12 for two courses and £15 for three.

Had a meal after a round of golf. We have played here a number of times over the years and there has been a distinct lack of investment, however, I understand it is now under new management and improving, from our experience the bar and sitting area has been done up very nicely, we had a sandwich each which you could not find fault with there is a small menu selection, food cooked to order and excellent quality. Staff very friendly, we will come back again if only to try and get the handicap down !!!!.

Visited for a private family event. We were accommodated in a private function room with a bar service. Very pleasant surroundings and attentive staff. The buffet that was supplied was fantastic with some more out-of-the-ordinary items such as Thai fish cakes with dips and chocolate dipped strawberries. The golf club house is undergoing some alterations, however this didn't detract from an enjoyable visit. Bar prices a bit high but that may just be that it's "down south".

The club has been under new management for the last few months. This was a trip to see whether or not the catering had improved by eating a family Sunday lunch. The restaurant has been refurbished, but the marquee that is now attached, presumably for larger events, makes the eating area gloomy. The fire doors were left open so that golfers could have access to the bar from the patio, which created a cold draught. No menu was available for approximately 20 minutes when the waitress came to take our order. Further time spent waiting unnecessarily as a result. The meal is freshly cooked, which sounds a lot better than a standard Sunday carvery. However, this meant a wait of a further hour before we were served our lunch. The food was not great. Some of the vegetables were so uncooked as to be too raw to cut with an ordinary knife and quite inedible. The beef I ordered was tasty, but nearly cold. I had intended to eat a dessert, but did not do so because of the poor quality of the main course, and the different meals served to my family. As a positive, the staff were pleasant and helpful. However, two waitresses could never have coped with any more than the few customers there. I noticed a written apology on the wall as I left, mentioning that the club was going through a transitional period. A lot more work to do before this is acceptable as a restaurant I think - this is no better than it was under the previous owners.

We were members at this club in 2015/16. The course is dry from Late April to late September after that it is close to a rugby pitch. It is fair to say it is a very tricky course & a genuine challenge. However, the Tee's are poor at best, the Bunkers woeful & the Greens patchy. If you are in the Men's section your Handicap cap is not CDH recognised. Cheap & Cheerful is the best I can describe this place. Sadly unless significant investment is made to make this a potentially very good course. I will never return.

Initially we came here with some trepidation as the course was not that well maintained- but what a change, the course is now in excellent condition though the bunkers require a bit more t&C but in all a good game to have with an excellent 19th hole to finish of in

I should say at first I am biased as I almost always play at the Weald when I am in this neck of the woods. The reason to me is clear, though, and based on fact. This course is OK but was never in that great a condition when I played it and not as interesting as other courses I've played. That said, it is not a bad course, better than some, but just not a nice as others. The club house atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, so I wouldn't fault the people at all, they are great - but from a golfing experience perspective, fairly average.

The toilets were out of use. The buggies were half charged. No ball washers with any water in them. The boy in the pro shop such as it is wrote my till receipt on the corner of a slip of paper, even though there was a new role of till paper in front of him. The greens were poor. The bunkers were like concrete. So bad that we refused to play out of them for fear of damage to our clubs. Overall a poor experience that I will not be repeating.

BRILLIANT! We visited once maybe about 20 years ago and were very disappointed, but perhaps because that was because the place was being renovated which spoilt the atmosphere. We decided the time was right to try it again. We had a lovely lunch, our only criticism was the scallop starter which was just 4 very small shellfish with no roes, for £16.00 very nicely cooked etc, but an astronomical charge for such a small dish. I had garlic prawns, far better value for £9. £32 for a main of hake and £28 for lamb two ways. A following pannacotta was superb. Lovely meal at a lovely venue. We're going to stay there come the late nights to see how it turns out as an hotel.

Very busy, very efficient, very varied a menu. I happened upon this eatery by chance and very welcome it was too - the food is well cooked and presented and from a big menu. I especially enjoyed the mushrooms, which were chunky-cut. You can barely find a large and comprehensive breakfast for under a tenner these days, but this place [just about] sells one
