Stayed at the Holliers Hotel for the weekend. Stayed there quiet a few years ago and was really nice the place was a bit tired back then but the food was amazing. This time the place is even more tired nothing has been changed the wallpaper is still coming off the walls, and the carpet is still the same. I know the new owners only took over in March this year but they have got a long way to go to get it up to date. The food wasn't great either. I would love to go back in a few years time to see what's changed if anything. The location us great and there is a great chip shop just up the road. Only 5 mins from the beach but very steep and the lift was broken. Don't bother going through Shanklin Chine £9.50 per adult to walk through the gardens really not worth it.

We enjoyed a visit to the botanical gardens & decided to stop in to their cafe /restaurant for a bite to eat I must say that the views were stunning looking out onto the gardens , we were lucky enough to get a table on the veranda where a local choir were singing & it made our day The food menu is quite limited but there were a nice selection of cakes available & lots of unusual teas too The food we did order was delicious .. but they were small portions for the price ( I must admit it was one our most expensive eats while on the isle of wight!) All in all a great setting to enjoy a cup of tea & drink but maybe wouldn’t go back for food

Fantastic! Welcomed in with a friendly smile, the ladies were lovely at all times. Hot drinks all tasty, served with a cute little biscuit on the side. I had the steak burger, which came in a toasty hot bun, with proper grated cheese on top & between the two burgers that melted beautifully. This was served with chips & salad. It all tasted so good. Highly recommend, we'll be back soon :-)

An interesting hotel where we went for dinner, although the food was ok it was a rather limited menu and the restaurant had no ambiance. The portraits in the hotel reception are fun though and worth a look. We did not stay at the hotel we just ate there and it was a shame it was too windy to eat outside

After reopening again in 2023 after its closure in 2022 everything seemed to be going well until late in 2023 when despite not having any information that it had closed, it shut one night never to reopen. No notices in the windows. No announcement like last time to tell their loyal customers that they'd decided to close down. And now it seems it HAS closed down & is being turned into flats! Well, there's a lot of unhappy people from over the last 30 years who would have liked to have been told 😔 Bad form Chip Ahoy....

As an islander I love getting a sandwich & a cake and sitting eating watching the world go by! Great sandwiches & cakes - especially the buttercream split doughnuts. Good prices too with friendly staff, what’s not to like ❤️

Perfect location for a relaxing break. The surroundings are peaceful. Coastal walks right outside the hotel with beautiful views. Ten mins walk to Yarmouth where you can catch a "hop on hop off" bus or local buses to different places. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful especially our waitress Maryna. She was so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The entertainment was very good especially Badness who put on a great show. The chalet was clean and roomy. One thing I would say is that the island was plagued by Mosquitos which we were informed of when we arrived. It would have been good to send guests emails pre-warning of this so you could be prepared. I was bitten badly as was our neighbour! Overall though we had a lovely weekend

Living nearby we are always on the look out for a new restaurant to add to our list of eating out places. My husband booked the Table for my birthday meal. First impressions were good, bright, fresh, clean and welcoming. With a lovely well stocked bar, a cocktail before dinner was most enjoyable. As for the meal itself it was a mixture of highs and lows. Possibly some of the staff are new to their jobs. The wine was opened and poured without being offered the chance to try, the waiter looked surprised when my husband said he would like to try it first. We had to ask for bread, but when it arrived, still warm, possibly home made, it was served with a delicious olive oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic dip. One of our guests first requested choice of starter was unavailable, as the restaurant was almost empty this was a surprise as I can’t imagine they had run out. I had a starter of mackerel, in my opinion this should have been thinly sliced as the gin cure hadn’t penetrated the fish completely so was a little chewy. But was still edible. A main course of whole plaice, or possibly sole, was pleasant but so undistinguished I can’t remember what fish it was! It was though bordering on the over salted side, but as someone who chooses not to use a great deal of salt this could be a personal choice. Served with what was listed as a Greek salad, although with the addition of mint rather than oregano, it was very tasty nevertheless. My husband had told them it was my birthday but alas no decorated birthday wishes plate, or even a candle in a sweet was offered. Overall a pleasant evening with friends, but I doubt we will be adding The Table to our list of restaurants to return to.
