Decent food but horrible blond woman working on tills. Although the lovely young man was fabulous.

Wow!! The price of fish and chips is extortionate. For a takeaway meal the quality of the meal did not outweigh the price! Long wait while the fish was cooked. Chips were cold.

It was shut. They clearly don't like making money. The big lurch in there is the rudest person I have ever met. This is from a previous visit when I was told (shouted at) that he wasn't cooking any more effing chips. Phoned on other occasions to be told they were closing because they wanted to get 8pm bus. Really not a clue on running a business

Mocked our daughter for her polite and English accent, when she tried to order. Then was equally rude when she only had a card to pay. She was reduced to tears !!! What a dreadful, miserable little man- shame on you. Fish n Chips from hell 😌😌😌

Quick stop off foelr a bit of tea. Watched them microwave pies we had ordered. Chips were OK. Ordered a bread roll but wasn't buttered. Not the best but ok

This good old fashioned fish and chip shop cooks food to order and it's well worth the wait for freshly cooked fish, that being said on a visit on a Tuesday or Saturday the chips are amazing and fresh cooked... but on a Friday fir some odd reason the chips have been precooked so brown, dried out and virtually inedible. The cod and haddock are both amazing but some people don't get that a fish actually has a skin and like all good fish and chip shops the fish is battered skin on.... if you don’t like that have the fresh cod bites, although a bit expensive for the actual amount of cod you get. The menu has plenty to choose from but again be aware that some items are taken from the fridge and zapped in the microwave such as savaloys, mushy peas or curry sauce.... Still edible tho

Worse fish and chips i have ever had, chips were over cooked. £8 for large fish that was over cooked with the skin left on. Kids portion was between 8-10 chips! Had to wait over 20mins for them to give me lukewarm food that was barely edible! Avoid at all costs.

Top quality chippy. It gets really busy but it is worth the wait. Phone your order in before you go. It is cash only so make sure you have some or you pay the local shops £2 fee.The cod was so fresh and the batter lovely and crispy. The battered sausage was the best I have ever had! They do all sorts of other things, I want the haggis next time. Highly recommend

It is always a joy to find an establishment where nothing is too much trouble and service is given with a smile. Brothers of Brading is the exact antithesis of this! The lady who appeared to be in charge seemed to deem customers an inconvenience and the suggestion that she might have to prepare more food an intolerable nuisance! Her conversation with her customers made each and every one of them feel that she was indeed doing them a huge favour by actually serving them! On the plus side the food was freshly prepared and good quality.

If you go anywhere else for your Fish and chips you'll be disappointed. By far the best chippy on the Island.

Amazing fish and chips, be patient with service

A chip shop that cook to order. So be prepared to wait a while. Great food, fair price. Helpful staff and always a lovely feel in shop.

Awful chips, they were so overcooked they look as though they had been dehydrated. The fish does have skin on one side under the batter which gives an unpleasant taste. And the bags are dripping with grease. Fish and chips are usually a bit greasy but these were leaving pools on the table after dishing up.

Stumbled on this after just eat cancelled my order from another chip shop.whilst driving through brading to ryde.Timing couldn't be better really to stop.Freshly cooked food whilst you wait which personally I like to see as you know it's not been lying in warmer tray.We paid cash,fish great,haggis lovely and kids fish and chips excellent. Proper chips old school.lovely.

Poor welcome. No obvious signs to say they don't take cards. Much prefer Regal Fish Bar in Bembridge. Paula Poulter

We went as a family to get supper and go and sit on the downs in the early evening sunshine. Unfortunately they do not take card payments, cash only. Who pays by cash with a family these days?

Fish was lovely , but the batter was very flavourless and chips were dry and overcooked

What a great chippy, freshly cooked to order, nice portion sizes, nice and light batter. Kids meals were excellent too. Friendly staff, great service and two happy kids. Would highly recommend

We only go to brothers , fresh fish and chips the chips are dry, but l can eat every chip even the small ones , which l can't in other chip shops

What a wonderful find. THE ABSOLUTE BEST fish & chips on the island. Proper chips like the old days. Fresh amazing fish. Both people working were very pleasant & they gave me some local knowledge about the island! Cannot recommend highly enough! A treasure of a find. Been same location many many years so they must be doing a lot right.

We're staying at St Helens on holiday & fancied some fish & chips. The shop was spotlessly clean & the staff very pleasant.The fish was cooked to order & Delicious.Five star chippy.

Love this chippy... Best on the island I've found so far. Also, one of the few places to offer battered halloumi which is a delight for the taste buds! 😊

Left the mainland to come and live in Brading 5 days ago and decided to try the fish and chips today Friday, 11/11/2022 and was very disappointed with the food. Swimming in oil on the wrapping paper, not good and skin left on fish. Batter was OK but couldn't eat the the lower batter because of fish skin...not pleasant. Paid £15.00 and it was not worth that price. Small portion of chips, not sufficient for an average portion. Would NOT recommend this establishment.

Still waiting to try these fish n chips as it was very busy, but the main thing is there is nowhere to park. So we went to another establishment in Bembridge. Hoping to try again, next time on island.

I really enjoy this place, it is so hard to find cod roe at a chippy nowadays! Gerkins, curry sauce all the good stuff :)

I want to start with a Thank you, we are not from the local area. And after a huge let down from a local pub this chip shop saved the day. Good value for money. Chips where not soggy. Burger wasn’t covered in grease. welcoming and polite. Clean and tidy. Fast enough that even my daughter didn’t moan.

Absolutely amazing freshly cooked to order fish and chips best we’ve had for years. We have had some meals whilst staying on the Isle of Wight but these were the best meal we have had. Can’t wait to go back when we are next on the island. Loved the smile poem on the wall it is enough to make anyone smile.

The fish and chips were fresh and nicely cooked and the staff friendly. Unfortunately on a Friday night it was v busy and we waited approx 25 mins in there for our order to be ready

So much oil on fish batter and chips, they don't let it drain off so paper rapping and plastic bag is dripping with oil. Fish batter was only cooked on outside.

Only chippy in Brading but luckily, it's a good one. Staff are friendly, food is freshly cooked and not bad value.

We have regular meals from Brading. We are never disappointed. Always cooked fresh.. some of the best fish we have tasted.

Forgot our forks and our mayo when we clearly asked for them, 45 minute wait, staff were extremely unhelpful and really slow. Thankfully the food was quite good so i'll leave 2 stars but i still stand by my first statements.

Dont waste your money, this was the worst fish and chips ever, fish very overcooked and really dry and inedible, must have been sitting there for ages, everyone's fish went in the bin. Very disappointed.

Not good at all not one of my family of 4 ate them The sausage in batters are like they are laced and cooked in sugar so sickly to eat once and only once

We have our son staying over with us, we had a Pensioners portion for my wife, I had a Large Cod & our son had 2 small cods all with Brother's chips. I love their fish, it;s the best Cod I have ever tasted.

Very disappointed with the customer service, Covid has hit all high street retail and food outlets, some have stepped up other have floundered and fallen apart with poor customer service and ability to organise, Brothers is definitely the later! So much so they don’t even know the ingredients in their own food, Avoid, go to sandown or bembridge but definitely don’t go to brothers....you will be disappointed

Not sure what the food is like, sadly... they are only taking phone orders and despite numerous attempts, no-one answered the phone.

I am done with this chippy and it's arrogant owner! What a joke! I have been using this chip shop virtually every Friday for years (despite the arrogant owner). Tonight I try to ring as usual to order...constantly ringing for over an hour! Turns out they had unplugged the phone to avoid calls. So I go in person and I am told unless I have a phone order I can't order anything...really...you are not answering the phone! I explain that I am a regular so the girl says she will ask "Ian" if I can order. Surprisingly Ian says no..."we don't have enough food". This is at 7pm and they don't close until 8.30. Talk about looking after your regulars...well I for one will never go there again nor will I recommend it. Take my advice and give it a miss! Luckily, The Happy Haddock will soon be opening in Sandown, with friendly staff and lots of fish and chips! My new local.

Rang through my order, was ready when they said it would be, drove back home and it was still piping hot! Absolutely delicious chips! Not greasy at all! Best chips I have had from any chip shop on the Isle of Wight!

Lovely, friendly takeaway serving some of the best fish on the island at a very reasonable price. Just a shame the chips are so hit and miss, one week you get decent size tasty chips and the next week you get tiny dryed crispy bits which should really be in the bin.

Batter like damp cardboard on the cod. Medium sized cod was barely 4 ounces. Chips were dry and undercooked. It seems this place blows hot and cold. Normal chef not there this time ; maybe that’s the reason. Poor

Consistently good. Popular so best to phone order in advance. Half an hour before is best time to order. Lovely halloumi in batter. Great chips. The portion sizes are pretty good. Mushy peas or beans too!

Every time we visit the island we come to Brothers twice a week...... the fish is cooked to order so unless you've rang in your order be prepared to wait. Large chips enough for two, the haddock and the cod is always very fresh and tasty.We discovered this gem several years ago as we try to go to the place the locals use, we did use to go to the one a Lake but the quality of fish there went down hill plus the batter so greasy.I can not understand why some reviews complain as they need to understand that a small local chippie will be open shorter times than the ones they have at home, after all this is a village establishment.

3x steak suet pudding 2x large chips £19.30 We telephoned the order through at 6.50 told to collect at 7.15 arrived at 7.15 watched other customers get served without even a mention to me after all the customers had been served my order was prepared now being 7.35 . We were really looking forward to the food being cooked well so didn’t mind the wait. How wrong we were ! While waiting the staff were complaining loudly about one of the members of staff sounded like the boss. Complaining (loudly)about lack of breaks etc. Totally unprofessional! Once home unwrapped food could see that the chips were a little undercooked and the puddings had not been steamed they quite clearly had been stuck in the microwave which had caused the suet to go rock hard. Disappointed & unhappy won’t be returning everWill stick to chipmunks on Monkton street in ryde next time always decent food. Word to the boss get some new staff! And give chef mike a rest (microwave)

We arrived around eight to be told with unalloyed joy they had no potatoes! So even cash wasn’t any help lol!

Just a pity they don't deliver,as we've usually had a drink when we want them.

Absolutely awful food, avoid it if you can. At 630pm on a Friday night and they'd ran out of large cod. We were 5th in the queue for ordering and after waiting 45 minutes our food to cook it was finally ready - they appeared to cook everything to order so was looking forward to eating it. The portion sizes were small, the chips were massively overcooked, everything about it was unremarkable and we all commented how poor the food was. Two of our party were ill in the night after eating it

Been there a few May times before and been fine but very rude today. Not like 7-10pm is late to go for fish and chips, was not even asked what I would like.

Best fish and chips in South of England

Lovely fish and chips, cooked fresh while you wait, you can phone order through if you wish, hot fresh and yummy, only problem is they are not open very long in the evenings but it suits me as I like to eat early.

And it’s brilliant. Great service and just the best fish and chips. Be prepared for it to be busy because it’s very popular!

I phoned at 7.00 p.m. and asked what time they closed. I was told 7.30. I arrived at 7.15 to find they were cleaning the windows and the fryer had been turned off.

Perfectly cooked fish, all the food was fantastically cooked. Staff were friendly and approachable but all were outshined by the halloumi 😁😁😁

Get in early especially Friday night as people will be queuing for fish and chips. These are the best on the island you can also call in and pre book, they are always busy closed on Sunday and Monday

The fish and chips served are excellent but can you please explain how a business or is it a hobby Close at 7:30. You do have to look on in amazement when you here about how hard it is for Island business to survive,perhaps if they moved into this century they could stop moaning

Do wish they would let the fish rest before they wrap it. Fed up with getting home with a plastic bag full of oil soaked paper.

Have had several visits and very good but my last visit the fish was undercooked and not eatable. If I could have returned it then I would have. Hopefully a one off.

Lovely food made fresh for your order prices and deals are fab this has been run by the same family for years only down sides are parking isn't great and due to the size of the shop it can get quite tight in there with customers waiting but it is worth the wait trust me

The fish gets cooked to order,for max freshness,you have to wait.its worth waiting for . 20 min is normal ,as shop is only open 2-3 hrs a time. It's best for me ,as it's in walking distance.

Felt like place and chips,for a change,and after moving permanent to the island, brothers came to mind.

No organisation, staff were good but customers waiting to long, only one staff member cooking. Not sure if chips were real or frozen, but weren’t very nice. Fish was lovely, as were the staff, just seemed over-worked.
