Great fish and chips tonight - had to wait whilst the last two large cod and chips were cooked fresh well worth the wait! We only have them when we stay from the mainland, well worth the annual visit. Many thanks

First time getting food from there, sausage and chips twice and kids sausage and chips. Food was excellent and the customer interaction was perfect. Thank you, you now have a new regular customer.

Soggy chips and warm they dish out chips way before they've cooked what you've ordered

I tried to get food but they ignored me and served 3 customers came in after me. I won't bother ever again. I did point out I was next in the que but The staff member still ignored me and took the other order. It's quicker to cook my own chips and they taste better, even my first try at making my own battered cod was better than most chip shops! It's really very simple.

I bought two sausage and chips from you last night and today my wife and I have been very unwell, it was the only food that we had together yesterday. The chips were great but the sausages looked like they had been under the light for a long while, in hindsight we should have discarded them. I am writing this for you to amend your procedures or retrain staff. Please acknowledge this review with a comment and I will delete this review, I don’t want to harm your business.

Staff are vile. Food is greasy and overpriced. Never ever again.

A nice treat for us after a trip to the mainland. Bit of a wait, but a popular little takeaway. Terry has left a legacy for the family to hopefully continue. Worth dropping in to, and worth the wait to eat.

Best Fish & Chips on the Island but very difficult to order when very busy, as they havnt enough pairs of hands!

Best battered sausage ever! Homemade but simple. Would highly recommened.

Superb fish and chips, cooked fresh, hot, good portion sizes, parking right outside would I go back? Definitely.

Not so good! We are used to very good fish and chips in Devon so this place was rather disappointing. Ordered 2 large cod and chips, one cod could just about pass as a large but the other one was much smaller and the same thickness but in this case it’s probably more appropriate to use “thinness” and wouldn’t be to far from the truth to say there was probably more skin than meat!!! What meat there was was quite tasteless. It was also quite greasy. Batter was nice and chips were very good so can’t complain about them at all. When you go in the menus are on tv screens that keep changing so quite frustrating when trying to read and it suddenly changes to another menu. We do not recommend this chippy sorry.

Freshly cooked traditional Fish and Chips with crispy batter and well cooked (rather than soggy) chips. All sered with good cheer and at a reasonable price. Took a little time to both place and collect the order but well worth the wait.

I was told to stand outside after giving in my order (as it was quite busy) and they will call me when it's ready. I heard someone bang on the window and told me it was done. When I entered the shop I heard one of the workers say " god, is he deaf?) and they all laughed. The thing is, I'm deaf and blind on my right hand side from an old injury and I didn't appreciate their comment. I was raging. Grabbed my chips and left. Every time I drive past now I have the urge to go in and confront them about this. Awful behaviour.

Wow. Fantastic fish & chips. I asked for crispy chips and they were delicious. Batter on the fish was also crispy and fish perfectly cooked. Friendly staff and owner. Will definitely be back.

First visit and ordered cod and chips with mushy peas. The batter was very crispy. A tasty fish and chips, worth a visit and for me, a return visit next time I’m over.

Went tonight for tea, we go every week but NEVER again. Staff so rude !! From start to finish order was wrong . When they finally got it right we went home , only to find our daughter choking on her kids meal. Looking at the so called chicken nuggets, they were over cooked rock hard and dried out. I took this meal back only to be told well it’s real chicken breast , well I’m sorry it may of been but dried out and over cooked , even the batter was burnt . The staff are so rude and argumentative. Sorry you lost our custom . Stay clear and go else where .

Unfortunately its usually a wait. HOWEVER waiting for FRESHLY COOKED food is not waisted time its An INVESTMENT in perfectly cooked food😉🤣😅 no complaints here😉

One of the things we look forward to when we come back to the Isle of Wight is a visit to Terry's. I love love love their Rock. It's so fresh & yummy.

Very good food and good price was on hoilday with family 6 in total use twice and both time chips very good, batter very good fish very good pies very good and burgers very good very good choice of food and very friendly staff

Ordered cod and chips, scampi, pickled egg and chicken and mushroom pie curry sau e, took over an hour from ordering to receiving my food, no bag offered, not offered salt and vinegar like everyone else batter had little flavour and looked anaemic, scampi was over cooked only positive was the curry sauce was delicious other than that wouldn’t rush back

Beautiful food! It’s always busy so you do have to wait a little longer than your average chip shop, but it’s well worth the wait. The cod & chips was delicious! I highly recommend it xx

Been returning customers for a long time when on holiday. This was a poor experience compared to usual. Wait was really long considering it didn't seem overly busy. Food wasn't as good as we had come to expect. Don't know if it was a mistake, but our chicken nuggets 'kids meal', was just chicken nuggets without any chips or anything else.

Well what can I say. 10/10 from me. Hands down one of the best fish & chips I have had to date. Would come again.

Tried this place would never visit again god knows what the fish was but it didn't look or taste like the cod I ordered and the chips were full of fat and overcooked. 1 out of 10 for me very disappointed.

Went for a takeaway fish and chips 🍟. Had two large cod and medium with two large chips and kids portion. Lovely cod pipping hot 🔥 also had a curry sauce bit of a kick 😋 great value about £9 i pay £15 where I live.

Tried Terry's fish and chip shop while on holiday in the isle of wight. Brilliant fish and chips the best I've had in ages. Not expensive either. Would definitely recommend.

Searched around while we were on the island for a proper fish and chip shop, then we found this place which was nice and close to the ferry port... So if you're looking for great fish and chips while waiting for your ferry, or are hungry... This place is idea!

After reading a review stating this was the best fish and chips we thought we'd give it a try before we headed to the ferry port , absolutely delicious and the best chips .

Good food, fair price, service a bit slow, but they were busy preparing a large order and I hadn't called ahead, so that was probably my fault.

Huge portions of fish and chips, wish I didn't have lunch earlier, couldn't finish mine!

We were big fans of Terrys but that food we have just received was nothing short of disgusting! Most of the chips weren’t peeled properly! Greasy and the cherry on top was the veggie burger was actually a deep fried spam fritter!! Vegetarians beware!

If you want food past 8pm it's pointless and they say they shut at 9pm. Food is good there when you can get it. Asda it is for dinner

Honestly the best chip shop I've visited. Clinical in their approach to good food. Everything was fresh. Worth the short drive for that sort of quality.

Handy parking outside if you can find a space. I was a little disappointed with the long wait considering it was so quiet, although it was freshly cooked which was nice. Kids found the chips too salty, so will remember to order without next time. Had mixed success with the fish and nuggets here in the past.

If you're desperate, and have half an hour to wait to order then another 15mins wait outside,this is the chippy for you ! Horrible chips and unrecognisable cod. We saw a queue outside and thought it must be good How wrong we were! Avoid at all costs!

It's a chippy but the chips are nice just wish there was more and burger is okay but fish is very nice seems fresh

Great chips, but what a lot of salt was poured on the top- it rendered a lot of the portion inedible and not good for my blood pressure.

Would not accept a phone order as too busy. Did not have any medium cod, so had to have large. Did not have any chicken at all. Chips were completely soggy and undercooked. Not a great experience and would not hurry back.

6 off us had cod and chips the fish was lovely and fresh and the chips were nice and fresh to over on holiday and we always use Terry’s thanks again guys

We ordered our work pre-Christmas lunch from Terry's 10 out of 10 everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food, can’t wait for the next trip. 😊 Friendly service, the food was made quickly and efficiently

Great chipshop, we had four "small" fish and chips, and there was plenty for all of us, infact we kept some back for the following day. Everything was cooked to order and was delivered to us relatively quickly.

I coudn't praise 'Terry's' highly enough on my 1st visit: The BEST Take Away Fsh & Chips I've had (IoW or North Island) in a long time! Fish cooked to perfection & Chips which were crispy on the outside & fluffy in the middle 😋 but... Addendum: Iv'e taken 2 stars away due to the following: Been since with visiting relatives in September 2022 & felt really silly after praising Terry's to them - Both Fish & Chips were overcooked & unpleasant 😩... ...So I suppose its who's behind the fryer on any particular night? Gonna try again sometime soon & give an update - hopefully the August thing was just a aberration.

If you time your ferry crossing to Fishbourne for late afternoon early evening head to Wooton Bridge about a mile away. There will be a queue but I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Quality fish freshly fried, hand cut chips cooked to perfection

Great food, service was good but slow. Estimated wait time was inaccurate. Would definately eat from here again but not if I was in a hurry.

Service was slow and not very friendly, a warm welcome and a smile go a long way, and the worst part was the food wasn't worth the wait - sausage was dry as if it had been kept hot for way too long and the chips were greasy and hard. There was also a fish oil taste to the chips which ruined the flavour

Being on vacation to the island we looked on the reviews for somewhere nice and decided to give Terry's a go. It's priced competitively but I wouldn't recommend if asked.

We have been holidaying on the Island twice a years since the start of covid and this chippy is our first stop every time as we stay at Wootton bridge and it's convenient. My wife, her autistic sister and myself all have something different off the menu and yup we have to wait but hey you know it's freshly cooked and still hot when we get back to our accommodation. No complaints on value for money or staff..they all appear friendly and helpful to us late season holiday makers. I wish we had a chippy like this close to home! Next visit is Monday evening when we arrive again and I'm looking forward to it already...keep up the good work.

We usedto go out of our way to eat here. Never again. We were warned on entering the shop that there was a 30 minute wait, but we thought it would be worth it. I was prepared to walk out, after 10 minutes when our order had not been takin g, and a row broke out between the server (Emma) and the chief who was battering frying. Very uncomfortable. But we (a party of 4) decided to wait on. When we finally got our food (2 rock and chips, 1 cod and chips, 1 battered sausage and chips) we drove to Ryde sea fron to eat them. Or rather, to try to eat them, and throw 3/4 of it in the bin. The batter on all items was so greasy, the oil could be squeezed out by pressing it. Obviously the fat it was fried in had not been hot enough.The chips were barely beige, let alone golden, not cooked long enough, hardly any salt and vinegar. The rock fish (we asked for bone in), still had the thick skin on, and was mostly rubbery. I appriaciate, that this was Friday 26 of August, the start of Bank Holiday weekend and possibly busier than normal, but serving second rate food is not good enough. If they had so many orders - telephone orders were being taken, then surely they should have closed the doors for however long it took to catch up, and only taken more orders when they were able to catch up. As for the shouting match between counter staff and kitchen staff in full view and hearing of customers.... unforgivable.

Always quality here, even our grandchildren scoffed the lot eagerly.

We stopped here at lunchtime and it wasn’t busy! . I ordered fish cake small chips and a jumbo battered sausage as my husband and I shared the chips and I have to say all of it was hot and tasty! . Absolutely brilliant nothing wrong with it at all and no wait! . We will be going back again next time we’re passing by.

Very slow service, waited for more than 30 min for a fish and chips. They didn't put any lemon or salt or pepper or vinegar. Very bland and also forgot to give the coke that was in the order, had to ask for it.

We came here for dinner on our holiday day 1 and it wasnt bad but it wasn't great. We had to wait for around 20 minutes for it to arrive and when it did it wasn't the bestest quality. While we waited it gave us the chance to look at all the ingredients that were used in the food which was displayed on the inside through a window. Looking at these was unappealing shall we say. The vibes were great and the fish was well cooked but the chips could've been more cooked. Also having to pay for sachets of sauces seems a bit strange. However it was well priced and in the centre of Wootton :)

Had a takeaway on Friday, the fish was beautiful white flaky fish, beautifully cooked. But sadly the chips were more like fries. They were very thin, anaemic looking, and soggy.

The wait outside the shop is ridiculous. I just don't understand the wait. The good thing is everything is cooked to order to a fashion. The chips on our plates were like 'dog ends' hard on outside and not much potato inside, horrible. My wife's pie was very hard, and that is bought in, couldn't even heat it up properly without drying it out. The gravy was disgusting, curry sauce fruity but OK if you like a fruity sauce. Not the cheapest meal for rubbish and even charged for a carrier bag, cheeky buggers. Never again. Avoid.

Really nice fish and chips and very low price compered to what I pay at home

As a holiday maker. I visited recently and bought two lots of fish and chips with mushy peas. Firstly the shop was seemingly back in 2020, in the height of the pandemic. There were a handful of signs on the windows about wearing masks. 4-5 staff inside we're wearing masks. People were waiting outside the shop in the rain. The food took 20+ minutes to be ready. The fish had the skin still on and didn't seem fresh. The batter wasn't great. The chips were completely dry, like cardboard. The peas we're extremely dry too. Very poor, considering the cost and wait times, service etc.

Placed the order and waited outside for more than 30 mins, luckily the weather was fine. My partner had cod as there was no haddock. His view was it ‘tasted very bland’. The sausage in batter was okay: The chips were just awful, I ate...

I thought something easy for tea for the first night on the island, ordering was easy enough but then its stand outside and wait and wait and wait for 30 minutes (longest I waited for sausage chips and curry sauce), can't prove by time stamp...

We had to wait for 30 minutes outside before our order was ready, but it was definitely worth waiting for. The fish batter was as light as a feather and the fish itself was cooked to perfection, as indeed were the chips. I can honestly...
