Rolled off the ferry and turned left. The place is great. Great atmosphere. We only came in for the food... which was excellent. Good portions and reasonable price. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We'll worth a visit!

We came here because last year the food was lovely and it is next door to the car ferry. We ate earlier this week and my husband's meal was okay, I had barely edible mashed potato, really hard, not fluffy. Today we arrived just after noon, gave our order for jacket potatoes and waited over half an hour for a luke warm spud with barely any filling. I wanted to send it back, but we are just about to get on the ferry back to Portsmouth so it was eat or go hungry. Will not be coming again.

I visited this pub with friends at teatime on 13th February for a drink. Having been to the pub for a meal a few days earlier, I was well aware of the need to log in on the car parking system. On this occasion, however, the log in device was not working and a member of staff was trying to rectify it. We were told that this was OK and were not told of any alternative arrangement or need to take any further action. On leaving the pub the device was turned around and still not working. My friends will attest to this. I have now received a parking charge for £100. I am aware that this pub suffers from excessive parking due to ferry customers awaiting their sailing times. However, this visit was not associated with my ferry crossing times as can be demonstrated by reference to my Wightlink booking. I can also show that I bought drinks in the pub on my credit card.

Stayed in this Hotel in November. I can only suspect parking system Malfunctioned as I received a ticket for 1 hours parking even though I stayed multiple hours. Spoke to manager who said they get 3 cancellations amounts and will cancel said pcn. Since then I have struggled to reach said manager and have continued to receive pcn notices. Not worth the Aggravation and should make you think twice about utilising this hotel.

Beautiful spot, and a lovely venue, really thoughtfully decorated. However, what is important is the food, which is over priced and not of good quality. I never mind spending £19:00 on a roast, but I expect the meat to be more meat than fat ( I had lamb) and for it to not be too chewy, and I expect to be be full and my lamb was very fatty. I guess you could argue we should have complained, at the time. However, at these prices, you shouldn’t have to. For £19:00 I expect to be full and satisfied. This was not the case. We won’t be back, which is a shame. My husbands beef was good, however, he asked for horse radish and got mayonnaise. Attention to detail is crucial when charging these prices, people are often too embarrassed to complain

Absolutely lovely food and above and beyond service. Really catered to allergies. Had lunch here with family on a Sunday. As I need to avoid milk, I asked for the allergens menu. The chef actually came out and talked through which meals were suitable and offered to adapt other meals if preferred. I had mussels with an adapted pancetta sauce and they were delicious. The waitress was also amazing. My partner and I have a five month old and the waitress noticed that my partner was looking after her and his meal was sitting so she kept it warm for him. Truly above and beyond service and really lovely food. Highly recommended.

Just to reiterate what others have said - we were issued a £100 parking fine after years of stopping off at The Fishbourne while waiting for a ferry. There may be signs, but clearly many people miss them, being in a relaxed mood at the end of a pleasant holiday. Please display the warning in giant neon letters at the entrance to the car park. Ordered 16 fish and chips to takeaway - 10 for adults (£16 each) and 6 children (£10 each). Crazy prices, with very little actual fish and chips in there. Children's portions were an adult fish cut 3 ways and with 3 or 4 chips literally. Adult portions had very few chips. Daylight robbery. As in a rush to catch ferry, couldn't check the portions before we had left. In any case they take the money upfront.

Convenient spot for getting off the ferry, however very disappointed with the lunchtime meal in general. Having ordered the poke bowl (a main), the dish was certainly more of a starter size and was nothing particularly fantastic. The pizza - the bbq pork and chilli jam - was laughable. The meat was hardly edible - chewy and grissley, and the dough was basic. There was far too much cheese too. The prawn sandwich was unfortunately very watery - though generous with the portions. We assumed defrosted. The rarebit was also disappointing. The pork however, was slightly redeeming - the only enjoyed meal at the table. Didn't use the hotel facilities.

We visited today, after previously visiting before, I have to say I was a little disappointed that the menu was majority fish especially with the starters Im not a big fish eater! There was very little option for non fish lovers as a starter except gazpacho soup. Before we even were seated we were kept waiting for 10 minutes to be sat down as a table was making 4 different payments in front of us. When we did eventually sit down the table was incredibly sticky, and despite being asked to be cleaned it needed a deeper clean than that. Food was fairly good, bit disappointed with the chicken burger and the roast the staff were helpful though. You could definitely tell they were short staffed.

I wanted to sit with my family and have a few coffees ☕️ whilst waiting for the ferry. We weren't allowed. Prices are rather expensive for what we got. On our arrival we checked in quite quickly and we settled into the room, it was comfortable and clean but in need of some modernisation and a good make over that it lacked . Food quality and the lack of imagination was an utter disappointment, it seems that no care over presentation and freshness of any of the food and not asked if we had any allergies. Overall the Fishbourne is a good pub and has a good vibe in the bar area with locals, but on the food and hospitality front I didn't feel the professionalism that it lacked.

We live a few hundred metres away from this pub and have been countless times, spending £1000s over this time. However, we will never ever go again. The reason being is that I visited two weeks ago to pick up takeaway pizzas. This time I drove, as I didn't want the pizzas to get cold on the 5 min walk back home. Two weeks later I get a parking fine from them for £100. Thinking I could just call them up and they would cancel the fine (as I can prove that I was parking as a customer at the time) and I was amazed to be told that there was no way of cancelling the fine. It doesn't matter that I was a paying customer, only that I didn't register my car on there system. I was not told about this and did not see any signs. If you have such a heavy handed approach to parking, you need to make this cystal clear (as in tell each customer when then arrive and remind them when then leave as a minimum). To me it is such a short sighted approach to make £100 in the short term but loose 10s of thousands in the long term.

BEWARE We stopped here as our last meal before catching the ferry home. We parked, tight manoeuvring but successful. We entered and were seated by a lovely waitress. A light lunch, pizza, very tasty, followed. We paid, at the table and went on our way. Our much needed break to the IOW had been lovely. Move on 10 days and we receive a nasty reminder of our visit to The Fishbourne in the form of a parking fine, £100. We hadn't displayed a permit. What permit? We contacted The Fishbourne, short shrift, we are one of many, they can't do anything. Then we read reviews, OMG, we are not alone. They said there are signs. We didn't see them. Not one. We never went to the bar where they say the iPad is, it was waitress service. I give The Fishbourne 4 for food. It was okay. Although we thought the waitresses were lovely, at the time, we now realise they hold the key. All they needed to say, to 2 pensioners, was ' have you registered? 3 words would have meant that a light lunch wouldn't have cost us £60, if we pay without appealing, or £100 if we say, please look at how wrong this is to a company employed by The Fishbourne. My thoughts. This pub know that they don't have to rely on repeat custom from locals. Their income is from customers, like us, who are just leaving the IOW, possibly never to return. I'm surprised the Tourist Board don't highlight this issue and place a sign as you approach the pub. Where 3 hours before catching the ferry I was so happy, had enjoyed our visit so much, and in my mind the Island was wonderful, 10 days later I have a nasty final impression. Just 3 words from the waitress would have made so much difference. To make it worse, we have her a generous tip ☹️

We went here for a light lunch. Parked in the car park and were shown to our table, inside, by a waitress. Our order for drinks was take, then the food order. A different waitress served our food. At the end of lunch, pizza. Well cooked, tasty. We left happy with our short break to the Isle of Wight and our farewell last, light, meal. Then 10 days later a parking fine. £100, or £60 if paid immediately. Apparently we had missed seeing signs in the carpark and a tablet in the restaurant. Not one of the 3 staff we had encountered mentioned the need to register our car registration. We have spoken to the assistant manager, Gary Miles, who said that there is nothing they can do and they believe that the signage, which we didn't see, is enough. We have also seen several reviews which refer to being caught out when visiting the Fishbourne. What a sour taste this has left in our mouths. What an expensive lunch. What a final memory of the Isle of Wight.

When we arrived there was a sign saying the kitchen was closed despite us having a booking. I was advised they'd tried to call but had missed it as was travelling there but they didn't leave a message. The booking was 4pm and they advised the kitchen would open again at 5.30pm, we decided to wait as we'd walked there and there weren't any other options nearby. Come 5.30 we tried to order and were then told actually it wouldn't be open until 6. So we'd waited 2 hours to order our food and we weren't even offered any apologies. Couldn't recommend after that.

The systems went down and we were unable to pay, my friends who were paying had to catch a ferry and the lady in charge was rude and basically saying you can’t leave until you have paid! Having only a credit card they were unable to pay cash, my friends said they would call to make payment the following day, I said I can assure this as I live on the island, but she was continuing to be rude as if it was us not paying, this was out of our hands, so someone else I knew that happened to be there made the payment, thus made my friends feel like they were at fault and very uncomfortable and luckily made their ferry! Food was nice. But not only had to ask for a menu for the meal but then had to ask for a dessert menu. Upon asking for said menus I had blank stares from the waitress. It's not too much to expect to be offered a menu when you're paying £20 a head. Retraining required.

Not great, it was highly recommended for gluten free and there wasn't many options at all and the pizza option was very likely to be cross contaninated. Felt very disappointed and my sister found the staff weren't very helpful (when she is very allergic to gluten) we ended up going elsewhere for dinner. The waiter was nice and it was close to the ferry port.
