Lovely atmosphere. We called on the off chance, and were very pleased with the quality and service. Not a vast menu, but it was well thought through with an interesting variety. A plus for me was the smaller appetite menu. They had a good loyalty programme offering good offers.

Very small rooms. Decently maintained by the hosts. The hosts were friendly. Good showers. We tried the vegetarian food in the restaurant which was not great, except for the British breakfast which seemed pretty standard. The kettles and crockery in the room were not clean and even the replaced ones were dirty.

A very disappointing meal with muddled orders and lost booking despite evidencing it with email confirmation shown on phone. They “fitted us in” but at one point we were the only occupied table. On a Saturday evening this place used to be buzzing but it is now a sad low quality meal experience. It used to be a regular for family get togethers but I’d not recommend it now. What a shame

Popped in here for lunch before getting on the ferry back to Portsmouth. Fantastically close to the ferry port and a nice looking pub, however… the £10 jacket potato which came with a small salad looked like it had been reheated multiple times, it was beyond dry and the inside was brown not white. They did bring me another one which was fresher, but much smaller. When I paid there was no offer of reduction off my bill and I discovered the half pint of draught lemonade was £3.65!! Will not be going back.

The service was very poor, just as an example we had to ask for table water about 5 times before having to go and get it ourselves. The food was ok - we would recommend the fish as that clearly is what they do best. The car park is advertised as free but as it has no lighting and you can’t read the signs with no light, they will charge you £100 fine whether you are a customer or not. Disappointing really when you spend over £200 on slow service. It is a shame as it’s a nice location near the boat. Cannot comment on rooms as didn’t stay.

I was a little disappointed in that I sat down with the menu and looked under Mains and did not see any fish dish. I called a passing waiter over and said I can’t find a fish dish and he showed me it was over the other side under Pub Classics and it was battered fish and chips. Not something I wanted and asked him what kind of fish it was. He went away and came back saying it was haddock. Not something again I wanted. So I looked at the Starters and order 2 fish dishes as my main meal. As I was waiting, the same waiter came past with plates of Sea Bream he announced as he put the plates down at the guests next to me. THATS WHAT I LIKE and prefer. So I asked him how come they found the sea bream. It’s on the Specials Board!! Ok you could say I should’ve asked if there was a specials board but if the establishment is wanting to sell more meals off their menu, I would expect the waiter to have told me, especially as I was enquiring about what fish they serve. However, the size of the 2 starter dishes were a large portion, which is a nice surprise, each a meal in itself. Other than not being fully informed the restaurant is well patronised and the plates of other guests looked well presented too. Nice decor inside and there is outside seating. I arrived at 2:45pm for lunch and the restaurant still had a few tables busy. Tables were already booked for the evening meals.

Stopped of to have Lunch before getting the Ferry back to Portsmouth. We chose the Liver & Bacon with Mash and Garden Peas and Gravy. The meal was advertised as “Gluten Free” and as I am Gluten intolerant it was an obvious choice. Well what can I say…. Everything tasted fantastic, and the Liver was cooked perfectly and the Mash was just as tasty. My Wife then decided on a pudding… I had the Sticky Toffee pudding with Salted Caramel Ice Cream, Gluten Free again…and she had the Apple Pie and Custard, both of which were a WOW to the taste. I would recommend “The Fishbourne” to anyone visiting the Island, and I will certainly make a return visit next time I’m over.

I ate here today and wasn't impressed. My first experience was standing next to the bar and hearing the barman get impatient with an elderly client when they couldn't answer straight away if they wanted ice with a drink. I mean come on pal, you'll get there one day and might appreciate a bit more care yourself. Then I had some lunch and it didn't get better. The people I was with ordered jacket potatoes which came out OK. No one was blown away. I had a beef lasagne and it was awful. I had 5 or 6 layers of pasta and barely any meat at all. The whole thing tasted like tinned ravioli and was just dreadful. The barman didn't seem curious about why most of it was left when he took the fairly full plate away. Fortunately or unfortunately this is the kind of place you may or may not visit before you get on the ferry and therefore may well not go back to again. I certainly won't.

I visited this pub with friends at teatime on 13th February for a drink. Having been to the pub for a meal a few days earlier, I was well aware of the need to log in on the car parking system. On this occasion, however, the log in device was not working and a member of staff was trying to rectify it. We were told that this was OK and were not told of any alternative arrangement or need to take any further action. On leaving the pub the device was turned around and still not working. My friends will attest to this. I have now received a parking charge for £100. I am aware that this pub suffers from excessive parking due to ferry customers awaiting their sailing times. However, this visit was not associated with my ferry crossing times as can be demonstrated by reference to my Wightlink booking. I can also show that I bought drinks in the pub on my credit card.

Beautiful spot, and a lovely venue, really thoughtfully decorated. However, what is important is the food, which is over priced and not of good quality. I never mind spending £19:00 on a roast, but I expect the meat to be more meat than fat ( I had lamb) and for it to not be too chewy, and I expect to be be full and my lamb was very fatty. I guess you could argue we should have complained, at the time. However, at these prices, you shouldn’t have to. For £19:00 I expect to be full and satisfied. This was not the case. We won’t be back, which is a shame. My husbands beef was good, however, he asked for horse radish and got mayonnaise. Attention to detail is crucial when charging these prices, people are often too embarrassed to complain

Convenient spot for getting off the ferry, however very disappointed with the lunchtime meal in general. Having ordered the poke bowl (a main), the dish was certainly more of a starter size and was nothing particularly fantastic. The pizza - the bbq pork and chilli jam - was laughable. The meat was hardly edible - chewy and grissley, and the dough was basic. There was far too much cheese too. The prawn sandwich was unfortunately very watery - though generous with the portions. We assumed defrosted. The rarebit was also disappointing. The pork however, was slightly redeeming - the only enjoyed meal at the table. Didn't use the hotel facilities.

We had lunch at the Fishbourne before catching our ferry, the food was average and the bread on the sandwich was stale and the fries were cold, the banoffee pie was just a pie base with squirted cream and banana slices all rather disappointing, paid £118 for 3 adult and a child, they seemed understaffed as well. wouldn't recommend it at all.

It's expensive and nothing special, just convenient when waiting for the car ferry.

Excellent service, but food disappointing. Had Sunday roasts, and two out of the three ordered were not very warm, and returned to the kitchen. Roast potatoes were poor - overcooked and needed a steak knife to cut through the skins. Food and wine relatively expensive.

The places on this island are beautiful for mooring boats. However, what the maps show where you can moor are not true. The tide is bigger and big waves with passing large ships push small sailboats to the shore.

The staff were friendly, however the food was very disappointing. The pizzas and garlic bread looked as of they had been purchased from Iceland and were very poor quality, certainly not artisan as described on the menu. The Caesar salad was also poor. Definitely not worth the money.

Very disappointing food. Do not be fooled by the skilfully written menu which suggested the kitchen has skill & sophistication. The food that arrived bore almost no resemblance to the quality suggested in the menu. Very basic fare, unimpressive & disappointing. Service was very friendly if slow but the problem here is the food.

I'm probably a bit biased, it's very nostalgic as I grew up here and get back to the Spyglass each time I visit family back home, but then why wouldn't you. Great venue, great food, great music..

We had a lovely meal here today. The Xmas spiced rum was delicious, as was the burger and sausage and mash. The pub itself is so nicely decorated and a lovely building. Very friendly staff. We would come again.
